Reviews for Hotel Le Rayon Vert

Review 1:to whom it may concern: there is no lift but only stairways the room is not very big but sufficient one or two chairs and sth. to put the suitcase on would be nice. I did not take a breakfast as it is usually very small in France - therefore I cannot tell you anything about it

Review 2:the location of the hotel is great, just at the waterfront, the room is extreamely clean, the queen size bed is very, very comfortable, a 40' screen flat TV with french, english, german and italian channels (and HDMI and USB connection if you want to watch videos from your laptop or USB stick), a small but very clean bathroom with a big shower and equipped with Grohe, a very good and quick working central heating, wooden floor While you usually have to subtract one star in France, this hotel is well worth its all of its stars!

Review 3:The jacuzzi is a (minor) absurdity. Forewarned by the comments on this site we smiled about it.

Review 4:We had Room 24 with sea view which was a real treat. Also liked the decoration and furniture. Good bed and large bathroom with window (sea view as well!). Continental breakfast served in the room until 11h and at short notice. Friendly staff.

Review 5:No parking. We were two flights up narrow, windy stairs, no lift. Quite expensive for what it was. We use hotels a lot so can compare.

Review 6:Room was nicely decorated though small and stuffy in hot weather.

Review 7:June 2015 - The sun was so bright like a nuclear blast - it was fearsome - from 5 Am to 11 pm. Wish there were awnings to shield you from the sun along the boardwalk. We welcomed the overcast days. There is an epidemic of skin cancer due to the weak ozone layer. The French seem so unconcerned. I saw bald headed men with badly sunburned scalps!

Review 8:We love the sea and the cliffs. Artists feel sometimes alone, and to be in places where fellow artists of like mind of the past makes one feel close to them. To view their visions and dreams. Hotel staff were very pleasant, charming and helpful. The town is not over developed and not touristy. The room was comfortable and very clean.

Review 9:Not many TV Channels, room was too cold for us, price difference between sea view and street view was way to big. Breakfast too expensive

Review 10:WIFI, Location, Bed, Staff

Review 11:1) The bay window had no one-way filtering screen, so people outside could easily see the interior of our first floor suite. What's the use of having a view if you must draw the curtain? 2) Laundry bags, chipped paint and other signs of needed repairs are visible in all common areas. 3)The balneo bath was great but the self-cleaning tub was unnecessarily long, noisy and too frequent between two consecutive showers; really annoying.

Review 12:The view; it was obvious we were paying for only that.

Review 13:I was disturbed by the noise that occured by the "chambre froide" of the restaurant in the same house. Unfortunately it was not possible to turn that freezer off. Therefore the noise went on the whole night and disturbed my sleep.

Review 14:I loved the view and the simple elegance of the room.

Review 15:Location is right on beach - central to restaurants and downtown (and the public parking lots which can be tricky to get a space in depending on time of day and day of week. The restaurant that is next to hotel has great fresh fish and room for our stroller which made mom and dad's eating experience a bit nicer.

Review 16:I didn't mind but some people might be bothered by the stairs.

Review 17:Got a great deal in September, balcony view with a jetted tub, same day for much less than the published price. The location can't be beat! The room was a good size, everything clean and looked recently painted.

Review 18:We had city side room. Woken up twice in the night by very loud council collection lorry and again by equally loud delivery or something similar, probably outside hotel's control but we would never sleep on that side again.

Review 19:Very comfortable bed

Review 20:Internet was not working. Fancy bathtub wasn't needed, recommend putting in a shower curtain. Breakfast was expensive, no selection.

Review 21:Located on the beach with a great sea view. Clean room. Easy to park. Hearing the waves at night.

Review 22:Room too small, not enough storage for clothes etc. Room on the 3rd floor the stairs were a killer! No Tea, Coffee facilities in the room Tea, Coffee in the restaurant was too expensive No free parking unless you walk 10-15mins

Review 23:Location by the sea with plenty of restaurants nearby Room was Clean and tidy

Review 24:WiFi connection is really bad

Review 25:Great location, right near the beach Great view from the room if you take the room with sea view Massaging bathtub, nice soap Clean room

Review 26:We indulged in a room with sea view, and it was absolutely worth it. Location is ideal, steps away from the beach, and we could see a beautiful sunset from our window. Hear the ocean as we slept. The staff was very friendly. Try the seafood platter at the hotel restaurant and sit in the terrasse!

Review 27:Room at 3rd floor. Need to bring luggage up.

Review 28:Stayed in seaview room without balcony. Just in front of the beach. Can see both ends of the etretat cliffs from room. Clean and nice room. Public parking just 1-2mins walk away. Breakfast was adequate. Wifi ok.

Review 29:The hotel is in a charming building right on the sea... Gorgeous.

Review 30:Terrible...

Review 31:Rien

Review 32:Needs more tlc. Stairs too steep for elderly people. No real communal areas. Balneo baths a noisy gimmick.

Review 33:Bedrooms with balconies and sea views

Review 34:Small room. In need of refreshing. Expensive.

Review 35:Excellent location. Friendly staff.

Review 36:The property inside needs an update and reprinting

Review 37:Poor breakfast. The wifi wasn't always available.

Review 38:Amazing view. Good location

Review 39:No parking

Review 40:Location

Review 41:Poor breakfast Wi fi did not work

Review 42:Excellent position Fantastic view

Review 43:very convenient accommodations in the center of Etretat town near the promenade

Review 44:Only the wifi wasn't working.

Review 45:Everything was great

Review 46:Room & bathroom a little small. No elevator, but OK , b/c it's an old wonderful hotel

Review 47:Location & view

Review 48:A cup of tea for €4.

Review 49:Location on the sea front.

Review 50:very but very poor breakfast

Review 51:the view of the sea and the white cliffs. It is amazing

Review 52:As an English speaking traveller helped to have an English speaker at on the premises some of the time.Staff very friendly and helpful

Review 53:Number of steps (narrow) to climb with luggage to get to 3rd floor. A bit on the expensive for the room.

Review 54:Ocean view. Clean.

Review 55:Had to use staircase due to absence of lift

Review 56:Perfect view of the cliff from balcony

Review 57:The location is top notch and quality and comfort is pretty decent.

Review 58:No public lounge Poor breakfast No Parking No hospitality4.5 euro's for a coffee

Review 59:Not much

Review 60:Breakfast was very minimalistic.

Review 61:Good to be directly on the sea front.

Review 62:Availability of parking places

Review 63:View on the sea

Review 64:No wi-fi.

Review 65:Such a great location. The staff is wonderful.

Review 66:Public paid parkings in 100 m. or more. No elevator. Smels in the hall.

Review 67:Near the sea. Clean room. Quiet and nice place. Loved the stay.

Review 68:Parking was a few minutes walk away and the stairs up to the third floor were very challenging. the hotel was a little unloved. Outside paintwork needed washing down. Lovely crisp white duvet cover but sheet underneath a horrible brown colour and very bobbly. Breakfast ingredients 'cheap'.

Review 69:Superb situation right on the beach with very helpful staff. Great fish meal at shoreline restaurant.

Review 70:Front desk not always staffed resulting in multiple waiting times.

Review 71:Nice small Hotel at the beachfront. The old interior has been carefully restored Modern components have been added with a good feeling for design resulting in a lovely atmosphere. Don't expect any elevators but climb steep staircases.

Review 72:No lift, so lugging heavy luggage upstairs through a winding staircase was quite a feat.

Review 73:Location is excellent, next to the beach and the famous cliffs. Our room was quite small but otherwise quite alright. As requested, we had a room with a shower (no bath) and the shower was very good, powerful enough for me to wash my long and thick hair with ease. Breakfast ok. All in all, good value.

Review 74:Limited common space

Review 75:Style of the hotel and the location at the seafront - the only in Etretat really. We had twice dinner with a sunset on the accompanying terrace - fabulous!

Review 76:Although the check-in time was 15:00, we arrived at 16:30 after a long drive, and the room was not ready yet. We only checked-in at 17:15. Staff don't speak english very well. The bathroom was good, has a jacuzzi, but every time we took a shower the floor become completely wet.

Review 77:The location was really good and the view of the room was awesome.

Review 78:There is no parking area for the hotel per se. We went in the off-season. I can't imagine what it is like when it is busy. The lobby, hall carpets, etc., are tired, worn, and drab. The breakfast was not worth the money; we are used to continental breakfasts and this was just short of meeting that requirement, but cost a lot more than it was worth. The morning and night staff spoke no English or German. We tried to leave a wake-up call and were never contacted.

Review 79:The bathroom was very nice and modern with a jacuzzi tub. There was a small balcony with a nice view of the sea. The hotel was central and on the water front. The staff on hand for our evening arrival spoke English and took us to our room to explain how things worked.

Review 80:There was no elevator - and I'm not suggesting they install one - sowatch how heavily you pack as you'll have to negotiate stairs.Parking can be a challenge, but we were able to manage with the publiclot nearby.

Review 81:Wonderful staff although our French was lacking, the continentalbreakfast was very good, the room was wonderfully clean and kept, we hada wonderful time both at the hotel and in Etretat and would not hesitateto book again.

Review 82:There were some general areas (ie reception, stairs) that looked a little un-finished - they may have been renovating.

Review 83:The location was second to none and I am glad I paid a little extra and requested a sea-view room. The room was very spacious with a spa in the bathroom - unfortunately we returned too late back from dinner to try it out! The balconies were great for photos too.

Review 84:What an amazing hotel. This is right on the water - you can not get closer! We had room 36 which has a view of the sea, and the cliffs. The room is very spacious, the bathroom was beautiful with a spa bath and shower overhead. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to help us. Breakfast was simple and traditional french- Bread and coffee. There are many stairs, if you have trouble with stairs or are elderly ask for a room on a lower level, the views will be just as amazing. We will make an effort to come back here and book this hotel again!

Review 85:I would the breakfast to be included in the price. It seems as there is no community area, the café, breakfast room feels separate, my be it is a different company? Also i would like wifi in the room.

Review 86:The design of the room, no 22, and the staf was friendly.

Review 87:Friendly staff. Next to beach and next to cliffs. Bed was excellent. Room clean and quiet. Due to time in season, found it difficult to get find a good restaurant. Not hotels fault.

Review 88:Small room, jacuzzi style bath an interesting experience but might have worn off after a couple more days, expensive overall. No storage to speak of in the room!

Review 89:Sea view, comfortable bed, nice breakfast.

Review 90:No lift, 3rd floor for elderly couple not recommended. window cill had holes in the plasterboard. Glass panels in the bathroom door meaning anyone getting up in the night and putting light on would wake the other person. Our room had no plug for the wash basin so had to waste a lot of water to shave. We wouldn't stay there again.

Review 91:The Female receptionist was very helpful carrying luggage up 4 flights of stairs to our 3rd floor room. Breakfast was adequate as it was in with the price. Its location to the pebbly beach just across the road.

Review 92:Breakfast choice was limited. Car Parking is very awkward.

Review 93:The hotels ambience and style. The views and setting. Comfortable bedroom. Helpful Staff.

Review 94:Typical of French hotels of this size the stairs to 2nd and 3rd. floors were a shocking spiral .. I don't have too many years left when I'll be able to negotiate these!!. Parking and getting suitcases into hotel were tricky. In peak tourist season must be a nightmare!!

Review 95:Very nice room overlooking the beachfront. Restaurant attached to Reception.

Review 96:There is some noise in the very early morning due to the fact that all kind of preperations for the terrace are being made. Ckecking in and out was not a pleasant experience. The staff was not kind. I did not find them very hospitable. Parking your car in Etrtetat can divide the activities during your day since you can only pay for 5 hours ahead.

Review 97:The room I stayed in ( 36) was on the 3rd floor on the front side of the hotel. Beautiful view on the sea and the magnificent cliffs!

Review 98:* Internet did not work* Small rooms * Very old building. It smells everywhere, in the room as well * Very poor breakfast (just 1 coffee, 1 croissant, one small piece of baguette and a little bit of confiture). 7 EUR ist too expensive for that

Review 99:We had a dinner at the hotel's restaurant. It was really delicious!

Review 100:Curtains are not enough to prevent early morning wake up. Breakfast is weak.

Review 101:Nice and clean, excellent WiFi connection, good location.

Review 102:- Staff were not very helpful. - Bed was not comfortable

Review 103:- Location

Review 104:very small rooms, they give us the rooms under the roof

Review 105:location

Review 106:no eggs at breakfast; noise in the bathroom in the early hours.

Review 107:very friendley ladies behind the desk good breakfast nice breakfast till 11AM

Review 108:The room was rather small....

Review 109:The Location of this hotel was excellent! The hotel itself was very cozy. The staff was quiet friendly.

Review 110:When I book by booking.com - after 15 min my money has been transferred for all days my reservation!

Review 111:Staff & location

Review 112:No lift, generally scruffy staircase, no air conditioning, no car parking and this is a nightmare in Etretat.

Review 113:Position and attractive town

Review 114:not spotless clean

Review 115:Location, freindly staff

Review 116:ham or chees miss for breakfast but nothing more.

Review 117:Rooms completely refreshed. global atmosphere of this old hotel. location beach-old village-clives.

Review 118:No elevator

Review 119:breakfast was poor relative to the price.

Review 120:location was great. rooms recently redecorated.

Review 121:nothing

Review 122:excellent hotel. very nice and friendly staff. perfect location
