Reviews for Le Boeuf Couronné
Review 1:Parking is difficult. Their garage, although cheap compared to public parking, requires lots of maneuvering
Review 2:The hotel staff was informative and very friendly. The hotel is located minutes away from the cathedral.
Review 3:absolutely no where to stop outside so we had no idea where our prebooked parking was ( take second left then turn right into unmarked building. you need a code to get in - Really? could they not have mentioned it when we booked the parking?)
Review 4:good restaurant with super view of cathederal.
Review 5:Very nice and tastefully decorated 1 bedroom suite with a living room and separate bedroom, king bed. Great location for waling to the magnificent Cathedral, shops and restaurants. Good continental breakfast with a large variety of fresh fruit.
Review 6:Nothing bad about the stay at all.
Review 7:Nice staff. Great location. Very easy walk from the train station. Very convenient to get to the Cathedral and other sights in the city.
Review 8:double bed is not so very ample, rooms are on the smallish side.
Review 9:you're almost in front of the cathedral, the rooms on the front side have quite a view. Rooms are recently refurbished, in a typical "hotel chain" style, nothing remarcable, but they're clean.
Review 10:The breakfast. We came to breakfast at 9.00 but there was a poor selection of food left. Even the croissants had run out! To be fair, when my wife complained the reception took one of the breakfasts off our bill.
Review 11:The restaurant. The meal was superb.
Review 12:Breakfast could have done with being a little earlier than 7 30 as we had an early start and it wasn't ready at 7 30am
Review 13:Very friendly helpful staff and excellent location
Review 14:Breakfast was awful no AC only radiator room was tiny not a king size as booked. I asked for ground floor was put on 3rd floor with a tiny lift not big enough to fit me my children and a night bag. Ì
Review 15:Staff were friendly and happy to help
Review 16:Geweldige ligging, vlakbij centrum en kathedraal. Voortreffelijk gedineerd, vanwege de warmte gelukkig op het buitenterras. Eigen overdekte parkeerplaats en goede informatie over de Son et Lumiere.
Review 17:Breakfast was dull and overpriced. Waiting staff serving us at dinner made several mistakes but we understand at least one of them was new and they were polite and apologetic.
Review 18:Warm welcome, comfortable clean room, good dinner.
Review 19:The room did not have comfortable chairs to sit in and the bathroom was a bit small; breakfast was basic; the lift was tiny but as the building was older, this was understandable.
Review 20:A comfortable hotel with staff who spoke English; parking was down the road.
Review 21:only drawback is the traffic noise, but it is in the middle of the city and an excellent location - walk to everything
Review 22:Great sommelier, Vincent, in the restaurant. Friendly staff. Great value for money with an excellent location. Note; view of cathedral from many of the rooms, but in summer the leafy trees obscure the view on the lower level. However, it's nice to see trees!
Review 23:A single dead carnation on each table in the dining room spoilt the ambience. It would be better not to have any flowers on the table if this is the best that can be done. Do not spoil the meal with what is a minor item!
Review 24:Situation great and use of local garage facilities most satisfactory. Excelent food
Review 25:Micro shower
Review 26:We stayed here June 15-16, 2015. The room was on the corner of the hotel, with a view of the cathedral. The super-sound proof windows really work. The nearby parking is private and secure. The real highlight is their restaurant-the Menu is the way to go; superb French cuisine and really friendly and helpful staff.
Review 27:The breakfast coffee could be better. In nice weather, I suggest looking for a coffee and croissant in the town.
Review 28:The staff were very nice (I speak French but I am sure someone speaks English.) I left valuables in the safe of the hotel - no problems. The cathedral is just across the read. Since a nearby hotel, Jehan de Beauce, has been upgraded and is now expensive, this hotel seems to be good value by comparison
Review 29:Reception claimed no knowledge of our reservation for parking or dinner, so we had the worst table. When I showed the booking.com form requesting both there was no apology. The room was incredibly small at the price. Waiters were snooty. Breakfast (poor) was in the bar which had not been cleared. No concept of customer service.
Review 30:Location
Review 31:Really small room and not the one with cathedral view we had booked. Parking for fairly small car almost impossible to get out of.
Review 32:Located close to Chatres Cathedral
Review 33:Minor point: no shower curtain
Review 34:Spacious room (actually: bedroom plus separate sitting room). Central location, very nice large bed, friendly staff, cheap parking nearby.
Review 35:Room was tiny. Shower stall was even tinier - was grossed out by too many encounters with the shower curtain! WiFi signal was very weak. Staff could have been a bit more friendly. No one asked if we had enjoyed our stay when we checked out - perhaps because they already knew the answer.
Review 36:The location of the hotel is great. Price for space in garage inexpensive.
Review 37:The lift was tiny with only room for two slim people or one large person. Parking the car was not straightforward.
Review 38:The position of the hotel was good as you could walk easily to the cathedral and the old part of town. The hotel was clean and staff were helpful.
Review 39:Room and bathroom very small with a silly little basin with huge tap not allowing you to wash properly. Noisy in the morning with bedroom doors banging and noise of lorries on the side of the hotel we were on. Tiny lift.
Review 40:Location good. Very nice bar and restaurant. Staff speak good english
Review 41:Many things were in poor repair (e.g. Curtain pulls, toilet seat and mounting, handbasin plug). It was impossible to use the electric kettle anywhere except on the floor in the suite's entrance hall. Reception seemed almost indifferent.
Review 42:Great location, good bed, plenty of space in the suite. Good to have access to an electric kettle (but see comment re poor access to a plug that the cord's kettle would fit).
Review 43:But it was extremely noisy. Doors banged all night. Loud voices in the corridor we couldn't get any sleep and had to resort to sleeping tablets. It was that bad. Because of this I can't recommend anyone stay at this hotel unless they are happy to stay up all night. Also couldn't get wifi to work in the room. It was ok in the bar.
Review 44:Excellent location, good sized rooms, ensuite small but adequate, and a good restaurant.
Review 45:The hotel has no air conditioning. As we visited Chartres during the hot summer months, this means that the temperature in the room was very hot, which was not very comfortable.
Review 46:This Hotel is ideally located in the centre of Chartres, close to the cathedral. Everything is located within walking distance from the hotel. The hotel offers parking facilities (reservations have to be made in advance), which is very convenient. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are quite small but clean and they offer good value for money.
Review 47:The hotel is ín the city center: there is one parking place near the hotel to drop-off or load your luggage for 15 min. This was occupied by one of the employees continuously! We were there two days: the same car and the same guy parking there, who was working in the hotel! The parking is very(!) narrow (and relatively far from the hotel): on the same area, where other tenants of the garage park two cars, the hotel guests need to fit three! I have never seen such thing before, although I travel a lot. We got a room on the 3rd floor, while the elevator was not working! We wanted to change, they told us they were full. (Please note, they we were there for more than 24 hours: there was not even an attempt to fix the elevator! ) When we entered in the room, it was full with some tiny black bugs. We wanted to change room (again): obviously not possible and they told us, that this is "normal", as these small black bugs are everywhere when it is so hot, like on the day we arrived. Please note: we have not seen these bugs anywhere before and thereafter. Luckily we stayed for one night only : I would not spend a night again there!
Review 48:The only pozitíve is the location.
Review 49:unresponsive staff small, warm stuffy room with no A/C or fan had to leave window open, hence noisy no adequate parking to unload bags fair breakfeast
Review 50:Great location
Review 51:No air conditioning nor fan for hot summers night. Lack of attentive staff, both at reception and in the dining room.
Review 52:Location within walking distance of Chartres cathedral.
Review 53:Nothing to criticise.
Review 54:Very pleasant atmosphere, stylish entrance and dining facilities. Convenient secure parking nearby. Very helpful and courteous staff. I stupidly left clothes in the closet and the hotel rang me and then sent them on (to UK). I will definitely stay there next time in Chartres!
Review 55:The decor is a little dated. Bedding not great. Breakfast was dreadful. Everything seems to have come wrapped in plastic.
Review 56:Nicely located hotel very close to the cathedral and downtown Chartres. Rooms were bright and comfortable enough.
Review 57:Rooms verhaal noisy
Review 58:Central location, close to cathedral and town area.
Review 59:The room & bathroom very small. The elevator had room for one person at a time.
Review 60:I can't think of any!
Review 61:Ten minute walk from Chartres Cathedral. Excellent breakfast.
Review 62:The bed/mattress, though ample, was hard. Many beds are like this in France it seems.
Review 63:Location near the Cathedral
Review 64:Small bathrooms
Review 65:Centrally located within easy walking distance of the cathedral. Excellent restaurant at the hotel. Garage parking close by
Review 66:Bed hard. Wifi poor
Review 67:Location and friendliness of staff
Review 68:Room was a bit small
Review 69:Located very close to historic cathedral and restaurants
Review 70:Brilliant welcome, very accommodating and truly pet friendly!
Review 71:Dusty bed
Review 72:Friendly helpful staff, excellent restaurant and well placed to see the cathedral.
Review 73:Breakfast adequate, but expected more variety for the price
Review 74:Easy walk to city centre. Good restaurant.
Review 75:Conveniently sited
Review 76:Convenience of the location, very close to the cathedral
Review 77:Shower stall wa small and awkward to use
Review 78:No prior knowledge of drop off points for arrival.
Review 79:Walking distance to cathedral and historic sites
Review 80:A very tiny lift, but at least there is one!
Review 81:Virtually everything, especially the cordial and helpful staff at the front desk and in the bar-cafe.
Review 82:Dirty paintwork and peeling wall peper
Review 83:nothing
Review 84:Extremely helpful friendly staff
Review 85:WI-FI network is not working smoothly. Instruction in English is poor.
Review 86:Friendly helpful staff, dog friendly and excellent food in the restaurant.
Review 87:No AC
Review 88:Restuarnt
Review 89:No bath, but shower was good A lot of noise from bus park til quite late
Review 90:Location, decor, good wifi
Review 91:Central location with all the best buildings in walking distance
Review 92:No aircon.
Review 93:Very close to town and cathedral. Pleasant room and nice bar area
Review 94:Breakfast very disappointing - expected more for that much money. Soundproofing not very good.
Review 95:Location excellent. Staff professional and helpful.
Review 96:The hotel was so close to Chartres, where, 25 years ago, I found such solace. The suite was beautiful and comforting; well priced. Thank you
Review 97:Did not find reason for complaint
Review 98:Beautiful town with outstanding light show at Cathedral. Excellent selection of restaurants.
Review 99:My sister and I shared a twin room, but there wasn't sufficient room for two suitcases The room size was more like a Paris hotel.
Review 100:Friendly, helpful staff, excellent location, very clean, comfortable bed
Review 101:Our bathroom had a small bath but no shower enclosure. There was a hand-held spray but nowhere to hang it and no shower enclosure or curtain. On arrival, the inner handle had come off the bathroom door so it could not be closed. This was fixed next day. Little drawer space, and no dressing-table mirror.
Review 102:The hotel appears to be primarily a restaurant which seems to be popular with locals. The rooms were clean and ours had sufficient hangers and space for clothes. The owner and staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 103:Not like is too strong but room, bathroom and elevator are all tiny.
Review 104:Central location in downtown Chartres. Excellent restaurant. Tiny but useful elevator.
Review 105:There was a wonderful restaurant attached and we enjoyed the food. One can see the cathedral from the hotel so there is no difficulty in finding it and it was our main reason for visiting Chartres.
Review 106:Very slow and sporadic internet connection in my room on the top floor. Shower very small with plastic curtain that 'clings'! Very small washbasin makes shaving and face washing difficult.
Review 107:Very warm and friendly reception staff. Within a few minutes walking distance of the Cathedral and restaurants. Secure car parking. Very comfortable bedroom.
Review 108:We have no complaints!
Review 109:We loved the location, and the service at the hotel was excellent. We were so happy that the hotel has a lift. The restaurant was also very good.
Review 110:Room was very small. Table was falling apart- we were afraid to put a suitcase on it. Bathroom is very tiny, too. Decor of our twin standard room needed to be refreshed. Breakfast includes delicious croissants and bread, but nothing hot, like eggs.
Review 111:Excellent restaurant with fine cuisine. Wonderful location. Staff is wonderful.
Review 112:We rate the facilities Fair because the elevator was minuscule and our phone did not work.
Review 113:Cathedral in view and just a 7-minute walk away. Great little pizza place on the way to the cathedral
Review 114:Lamps didn't work well. You had to lay the electric wire just right for it to work. Not bright enough unless I had the drapes open.
Review 115:Location. Clean. Comfortable bed and enough pillows.
Review 116:The only problem was that the wifi didn't work, and couldn't be repaired till the week after we left. The single common computer connection was extremely slow.
Review 117:Location and comfort of the hotel were great! Room was fine, and staff very helpful.
Review 118:I was there just after twelfth night holidays so they wed a bit behind on the cleaning and the hovering went on until late , still, it was necessary and not a great intrusion
Review 119:Close to station and to the cathedral. they held the breakfast for me cause i over slept tip 9:30 isn maybe ten. good hard mattress
Review 120:Very strange breakfast: two people are fussing around you, but only baget-butter-iogurt-jam and some cheese at the table. It doesn't cost 9 euros. Night noise from the street.
Review 121:Location - it's close to railwaystation and to Cathedral.
Review 122:Our room had neither soap or glasses. When we asked at the desk, eventrying our limited French it took some work and convincing to get them.Very strange to not have any amenities.
Review 123:Great location for visiting Chartres Cathedral--only a 2 block walk.
Review 124:Very cosy lift.
Review 125:Good location with public underground parking close by. Friendly and helpful staff with excellent service. Had the best steak and frites in the bar I've had for a long time!
Review 126:There were no tea and coffee making facilities in our room.
Review 127:The atmosphere/ambience and the location. Close to the rail and to the things we wanted to do. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful.
Review 128:Nothing
Review 129:Location is great....2 blocks from the train station, and a short walk to the cathedral. Very helpful staff cheerfully helped us resolve a rental car problem. Nice size room.
Review 130:Breakfast could have been a bit more expansion for the price.
Review 131:The receptionist was quite friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the bath efficient.
