Reviews for Hotel d'Angleterre Etretat

Review 1:MIND THE VENTILATION SYSTEM IN THE BATHROOM! It is always on and it can be heard from the room, with the bathroom's door closed.Other people have already commented on this (Francos 5/5/2015 - Isabelle 31/03/15 - Caroline 7/10/2015)...isn't this enough to choose some other place???!!! ___________________________________ MIND THE OWNERS' ATTITUDE! They basically despise their clients, this is just a business for them. As other comments have stated already, they will behave unreasonably unpolitely and unrespectfully when faced with reasonable requests...like being refunded for the following nights because unable to sleep there because of their noisy ventilation systems - and in need to find another place. SO, DO NOT PAY IN ADVANCE. It is not due, no serious hotel request that. it tells a lot about them...

Review 2:Wi-fi is not always working. The fact that the terrace was closed for hotel guests when there was nobody at the reception desk was very strange for me.

Review 3:The location is very good.

Review 4:Satellite TV had no channels in anything other than French. Would like to have at least english speaking news channel. I guess though that the ample free WiFi access covered that need.

Review 5:The owner was energetic, friendly and professional has turned a mid-19 century building into a comfortable hotel by modern standards. Service was good and thoughtful, rooms were spacious and clean. Only 500 meters from beach. Those with mobility or weight challenges may find this place difficult due to a very steep narrow staircase to the guest rooms. Also if you plan to park for the day be prepared to pay for parking on the street. Overnight parking is free.

Review 6:The beds were on the smaller side and very firm. The pillows were flat. The breakfast didn't have any fruit or meat, and seemed pricey for what you got (13 Euros for bread, plain yogurt). The ventilation is provided by opening and closing your windows, so we were tired of the loud seagulls by the end or our stay, but hey, we were at the beach!

Review 7:The hotel was only about 4 blocks from the beach, close, but not too close. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Wifi was strong and free.

Review 8:No bad experience as such. Just one suggestion - in etretat, most of the hotels do not have a lift and you will have to walk the stairs up to your room. If yo have lots of luggage, better leave them in your car and carry minimal.

Review 9:Just a short stroll away from the coast of Etretat, this is an amazing place where we spent our weekend. What we liked? Well, everything! A perfect location, amazingly comfortable bed, a clean bathroom and delicious Parisian breakfast. There is a wi-fi and it works! Though the signal strength was bit weak from the room, but it was adequate. All in all, we were very happy to spend our weekend here.

Review 10:The breakfast was good, but every day the same. For us, this wasn't really a problem as we only stayed there for 4 days. But I can imagine if you stay longer, that you might like/need some variety in your breakfast.

Review 11:The owner of the hotel was a really nice and helpful man. When we arrived, he automatically provided us a city map and advised us which restaurants were good. He was always very kind. The hotel is not that big, but very cosy. The room was lovely and clean. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Review 12:Parking might be an issue especially on a workday.

Review 13:The staff is absolutely great. Super helpful and super friendly. Very delicious breakfast. The location is great, very easy to find the place. The neighbourhood is full of interesting sights and restaurants for a good leisure. Make sure to visit the beach first. It's absolutely magnificent.

Review 14:Not possible to check in OR leave luggage before 3pm. Need to check-out by 10:30am is too early. Breakfast is served very nicely but the quality of food is very low and bad!

Review 15:Would of liked a kettle and tea making facility in room.

Review 16:Great location. Very helpful owner who was more than willing to spend time recommending things to do and places to eat. Great bed. Excellent wifi. Etretat is the most peaceful village and easy to relax.

Review 17:Who could complain about a place with such generousity at its heart?!

Review 18:The building was classically French with doors onto small balconies from most rooms and the breakfast room was very spacious and furnished with French oak antique furniture. A lovely space to sit in. The bedrooms were comfortable, light and airy and contemporary in style. The owner was very hospitable, attentive and warm. He provided everything we needed including delicious croissants and a broad choice of other breads fresh from the boulangerie for breakfast. We would heartily recommend staying there.

Review 19:Steep stairs.......very narrow spaces to access room. Bedroom not that spacious. Tiny shower room!!

Review 20:Friendly staff who could recommend places to eat etc. Nice decor

Review 21:- Breakfast are very basic and are not worth the money. You have to pay almost 10 eur, but you have only croissant, a few slices of bread, butter, coffee and tea.

Review 22:- Nice and clean B&B a few steps from the centre of Etretat. There, you can find some good restaurants. - Etretat is a beautiful small town. - Rooms are small but clean and comfortable with a nice view on the town and street. - Parking is paid and you can park at the street in front of the B&B. - You can´t eat and drink on the room - it´s a rule of the accomodation. But the owner is a very kind and he can prepare basket for the picnic at the beach.

Review 23:Small but clean room and fresh breakfast. Very gentle staff made us feel welcome and give us suggestions about our stay in Etretat.

Review 24:Breakfast to simple, ok if you like bread and jam.

Review 25:Good location.

Review 26:Service a bit limited

Review 27:Good central location

Review 28:No elevator.

Review 29:Very helpful staff. Themed rooms. Nice view.

Review 30:Very friendly staff, great location, beautiful town.

Review 31:Everything was perfect for us , a specialy harmful manager

Review 32:Very helpful owner! It was a very pleasant stay in Etretat. Thank you. We will certainly come back!

Review 33:Great location, awesome staff and all around a great place.

Review 34:Poor breakfast and WiFi.

Review 35:Nothing.

Review 36:Loved the decor - so cool! Comfy bed, really good breakfast, all with great service.

Review 37:Closed on our sunday :/

Review 38:Everything. The kindness of the host. The decoration of the rooms. Getting awaken by the seaguls.

Review 39:Parking is horrible in Etretat! But that's not the hotels fault.

Review 40:Very polite and helpful people

Review 41:No elevator, reception is closed from 12:00 to 15:00.

Review 42:Friendly staff, confortable room

Review 43:the hotel looks much nicer than the pictures. the staff was very nice and helpful. very recommended hotel!!

Review 44:The damp smell of the room. the manager was not too helpfull

Review 45:The location

Review 46:No parking

Review 47:The people and their welcome

Review 48:The family room was a little tight and could be furnished for better storage ,

Review 49:The owner was wonderful, knowledgable, helpful and very friendly.

Review 50:The only thing we didn't like was the fact the shower pole was broken, so that you had to hold the shower head in your hand while showering.

Review 51:This is hotel is located on the main road, but the traffic is pretty moderate, especially during the night. It's in good walking distance to restaurants and the beach. The guy at reception is amazingly friendly and polite, we felt very welcome. Room was not big, but adequate and nice. There is street parking opposite the hotel, which you need to pay for until early evening.

Review 52:There was a slightly musty smell from the bathroom when we first arrived - opening the windows cleared it quickly. though

Review 53:Friendly staff member, great location and a very comfortable room.

Review 54:Bathroom very dated and pokey, no facilities like hair dryer, mirror, tea/coffee. Ok for one night though

Review 55:Quirky little room on the top floor overlooking the street, light with two windows and close to the sea front.

Review 56:Parking is street pay and display, as is the rest of Etretat unless you go further out. There is rear local parking if you are lucky.

Review 57:good location near to the centre, recently refurbished and new carpets. Hotel is quaint and typically French. Room was compact but could do with a couple of hooks for towels etc . New owner is very helpful and a pleasure.

Review 58:The wi-fi did not reach our top floor room, but it was not really an issue. The stairs are very small and quite steep which might pose a problem for some travellers, but we thought they were quaint.

Review 59:The most comfortable bed of our whole holiday. The rooms are decorated beautifully, the bathrooms are compact, but modern and well designed. A really lovely place to stay.

Review 60:Noisy seagulls could be very irritating for some guests. Probably the room was a little overpriced.

Review 61:Quaint, friendly staff. Cost of breakfast reasonable.

Review 62:The room was clean but worn. The bedspread had holes in it, the shower did not work well; the tv had about 6 channels all showing the same thing and no English-speaking channels; the volume was set so low it was impossible to hear; we ran out of toilet paper and soap the second day; they advertised that they had wifi, but we could not access the internet in the rooms, only occasionally in the first floor dining room, which was locked at night. The reception was very week. We could only connect our phone, not laptop. Would not recommend unless, at the least, they get their wifi connection upgraded, fix the shower head, and make sure amenities are stocked for a second day.

Review 63:The owner/staff was welcoming. She upgraded us to a better room since we were staying two nights.

Review 64:Only 3 minutes walking from the beach, 2 min from the center. The city is amazing and worth the visit. The staff was helpfull and nice. The Hotel has a good cost/benefit.

Review 65:Very beautiful small Hotel with good location. Friendly saff and nicely decorated rooms. We felt there like at home and spent unforgettable time there.

Review 66:The experience was great. Friendly staff, cozy room, and it'slocated at 2 minutes from the city centre and the beach. We had a verygood breakfast for 8 euros, which can be super convenient. I certainlyrecommend it.

Review 67:The room and the bathroom were cold and dirty, with hair on the blanket, worn sheets and dirty towels. The bed is very unconfortable. Thebathroom is very small and old, this is the worst hotel I've everbeen. The receptionist didn't want to give us the password for wifiwhen we had arrived, only in the morning without any explanation, thiswas unacceptable! Surely I will not come back in this ugly hotel.

Review 68:Nothing, avoid this hotel!

Review 69:It didn't bother us at all but there was no lift.

Review 70:Really charming little hotel with individually decorated rooms - perfect for our weekend away! Great location too.
