Le Manoir de L'Étang descritpion

Set on the hills of Mougins, once home to Picasso, Le Manoir de L'Etang is a beautiful manor house from the 19th-century situated in a park overlooking a small lake covered with Lotus flowers.
The guest rooms of the hotel are air-conditioned and spacious. Most of them overlook the lake, and all of them boast view of the nearby hills. The beds have refined Egyptian cotton sheets and bathroom linen is of the finest quality.
A charming outdoor swimming pool is available on-site, as well as large landscaped gardens.
The hotel can provide fitness trainings, massages and beauty treatments to meet all your needs.
The restaurant offers a regularly changing menu including homemade beef, fish and vegetable ravioli to be be enjoyed in the manor house or on one of the terraces. The gourmet chef Mathieu Soler has conceived the menu, including tempura and macarons.
The Manoir enjoys ideal location for a restful break on the French Riviera. Cannes, with its extensive shopping and great beaches, is set few kilometres away. In the hills nearby you also will discover many picturesque villages such as Mougins, Valbonne and Biot.

Reviews for Le Manoir de L'Étang

Review 1:Although the staff were helpful and pleasant there was an absence of genuine hospitality, or any sense that they wanted to make our two day stay special.

Review 2:Location and setting were very good and taking breakfast on the terrace a delight.

Review 3:Having stayed at many five-star hotels/ resorts globally, the effort made by the staff at Le Manoir de L'Étang was outstanding - very attentive. The bedrooms (three) that had been appointed to us were stunning with great views. A lovely and well managed hotel.

Review 4:The floor was very dirty, the room needed a repaint and there were holes in the bath towels.

Review 5:The exterior and pool area were beautiful. The breakfast was also good.

Review 6:we stayed for 4 nights the sheets or towels were not changed.there was an empty box of tissues which were not replaced throughout our stay.after the maids had been in the room there was still dirt on the floor

Review 7:the food and table service was excellent

Review 8:We loved this properties beautiful pool. Soft pillows and breathtaking views. We dined in the restaurant for dinner, the meals were superb. For lunch it's an easy 5 min walk to a traditional bakery. Another tip was that this property has easy parking and is only 30 mins from Nice.

Review 9:everything was great

Review 10:Perfect place to rest .Wonderful people, atmosphere, facilities. Fantastic service, pool and general impresion. Very unique and special

Review 11:One or two areas of the bedroom paintwork would benefit from a little refreshing, the shower was very reluctant to empty and the dusting of the room could have been a little more thorough. All were relatively minor worries.

Review 12:The staff were excellent, and the owner who was always available had a lovely relaxed and friendly style which was always appreciated.

Review 13:We had travelled to Cannes by train - recommend car if staying here and visiting local villages.

Review 14:We had a very relaxing stay. The building and grounds are beautiful, the setting restful, food excellent, staff are very friendly and the owner is charming. Our young daughter loved exploring in the large garden.

Review 15:We really enjoyed our stay. A few room/furniture updates could take the property from great to excellent.

Review 16:We sincerely enjoyed our stay. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed hiking around the neighboring park. The staff was very accommodating and we felt right at home.

Review 17:Room furnishings a bit sparse Long way from other restaurants Hotel restaurant expensive.

Review 18:Beautiful hotel and setting, quiet and peaceful. Charming and most helpful staff.

Review 19:Very weak wifi, kept dropping out . Also, the night we were there their restaurant was closed, so we had approx 20min walk to a recommended restaurant, which was not a good experience

Review 20:Beautiful hotel, historic building, lovely room, quiet, gorgeous grounds with views of the countryside. The owner spoke good english and was extremely helpful. They had an awesome espresso coffee machine used to make coffees in the morning

Review 21:The wifi needs a booster to extend to the farthest rooms.

Review 22:The owner made exceptional effort to make guests feel comfortable, the hotel is decorated in good taste, it benefits from being gated which means it is quiet and set away from any noise, it is close to a wonderful nature reserve for dogwalking and jogging.

Review 23:Adequate ensuite but eventually a refurb would improve it.

Review 24:Excellent location, clean and comfortable with a very relaxing ambience. Friendly and capable staff and charming owner. Excellent food in the restaurant.

Review 25:Poor wifi around the hotel and no shelves or drawers in our room but when I told the owner she said she would install shelves in the cupboard as soon as the following guests (due to check -in right after our departure) would leave.

Review 26:The view, the setting, garden, pool all beautiful and the food is outstanding. Owner very attentive, works long hours and oversees everything. That makes such a difference in the standards.

Review 27:Amazing place, with great surroundings Exquisite restaurant Classy, warm and caring owner Quiet, but still close to the more agitated city of Cannes if one wants to go out, shop etc...

Review 28:It was sad to leave.... The wifi didn't remember the user between the log ins but other then that.... not much to be sad about.

Review 29:Beautifull genuine french building in a beautifull landscape. We didn't leave the garden for the first three days. Incredibly welcoming and accommodating staff made us feel so taken care of. From me booking this for our honeymoon and their quick reply to all the extra friendly treatment we got. A hidden gem with no mass market luxury brand hotel feeling. Very down to earth and friendly but the grand building, garden and pool made it feel very luxurious. Lovely food. Other restaurants close by. Nice walks. 15 min to Cannes in our little rental car. We left with new friends! I'm writing this nice review because they made our honeymoon perfect!

Review 30:Cigarette smoke drifting up into our room from people smoking on the terrace right next to the hotel. Breakfast was minimal considering the price of the room. We noticed some people were being served eggs and yogurt, but we were not offered these items, nor was there a menu. Poor quality black tea bags.

Review 31:Lovely quiet, countryside location. Quaint hotel. Cheerfully decorated spacious room and bathroom with beautiful garden view. Abundant free parking.

Review 32:Small, intimate quiet resort with wonderful owner who tended to the needs of all guests

Review 33:We had an amazing stay and will return for sure! Lovely small hotel, exactly what we expected, friendly host and staff, good food, great value.

Review 34:Go there with private car or Taxi, NOT on public Transport !

Review 35:Excellent place with phantastic Restaurant ! Compliments to the Chef !

Review 36:Beautiful chateau with very comfortable chamber and surrounds.

Review 37:View, Surroundings, pool-area, rooms.

Review 38:The place is enchanting

Review 39:The beautiful manor house and gardens, the exquisite lady of the manor

Review 40:Breakfast was acceptable, but average

Review 41:The views, quiet room and location, comfort of the room

Review 42:Nothing bad to say

Review 43:Owner was hands on ,very helpful with directions etc .Restaurant staff were friendly and professional and the food was excellent

Review 44:Friendly, great value for money in an idyllic setting.

Review 45:Food and staff excellent. A perfect break in a wonderful location.

Review 46:Bathroom a bit dated

Review 47:Rooms a good size with comfortable bed. Excellent evening meal. Good breakfast. Friendly owner. Excellent parking.

Review 48:Staff was very accomdating. The views excellent. Nice pool area, and dinner was suberb. Highly recommend...you will not be disappointed.

Review 49:Exceptional hotel Friendly excellent service Beautiful position Swimming pool lovely Food awesome Room spacious

Review 50:Poor cleanliness, musty smell, bed linen not changed after one week, mould in bathroom, shortage of toiletpaper and soap

Review 51:Location, silence, beautiful environement, parking facilities, excellent restaurant, easy access to all main roads

Review 52:It's a perfect place to stay in Mougins area, but you need a car. In any case, it's better to have a car to explore French Riviera. The hotel also has an excellent restaurant. The owner is a very nice woman. They also have beautiful horses in the garden.

Review 53:Nothing to mention, everything was perfect.

Review 54:Unique Experience Spectacular Location and Environment Great Restaurant Really relaxing Great Breakfast

Review 55:Gorgeous house, grounds and location. Staff and owner very warm and friendly. It felt like staying in a house rather than a hotel. The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit, great coffee, delicate pastries and good bread and preserves. My 9 year old daughter loved it, especially the gardens, horses and young foal.

Review 56:Small room and a lot of dump on the walls and the bathroom. will help a bot of paint and maybe redo the bathrooms as they were very old and the heating was not working.

Review 57:the location was lovely but very separated from the rest of the village. lovely place for a relaxing week end but a bit annoying to visit the village as you need a car to do everything!

Review 58:We loved abolutely everything! From the amazing Manor house, to the very chic decoration, the delicious gourmet restaurant, the warmth of the hostess and owner Camilla who makes you feel at home right away...Which other hotel in Provence looks as beautiful as this one? Very professional staff. This is a gem of a hotel, perfectly situated if you want peace and quiet in the beautiful provencale countryside, yet close to the main touristic attractions. We wanted to prolong our stay but unfortunately had to go back to the reality of work

Review 59:If you think from the pictures that rooms look like cheap Ikea stuff, you are right. Our room (No.21) was not at all cosy (the one that makesyou not to want to stay there). It also had a dirty old (sort ofethnic?) woollen rug you don't want to walk barefoot on and dust onthe floor, some strange-looking (like blood?) spot on the wall nearwhere you put your head in the bed, and some torn towels with holes onthe first night. This room was definitely not worth 195eur per night. The breakfast, although it is included, was ridiculous (it is not a buffet but rationed):croissants and some bread, 2 small pieces of butter (for 2!), 2 spoonfuls of jam, a small bowl of fruit. Forget cheese, ham, etc. We got a little yoghurt upon request the 1st morning but afterwards brought our own. The bathroom had a bath but no protection for the shower, so every time after the shower it was flooded. The overall impression was that of NEGLIGENCE, the owner just willing to make big money and not so much taking care of things. We complained at the beginning but then were offered another room which was smaller but looked more or less as bad as the initial one, so we did not change it. Definitely not going back. I don't understand all the good reviews here. p.s. There is a national park just next to the hotel but I was amazed that they had no information (no maps, etc.) to provide.

Review 60:The hotel has a very nice garden and the view is excellent. Therestaurant was quite good. The swimming-pool also looked ok but we didnot try it, mainly because we wanted to get away from the hotel asap inthe morning (because of our room - see under "minuses")

Review 61:Camilla was wonderful and provided outstanding recommendations throughout our trip. She was very welcoming and friendly. The Manior itself was beautiful and we really enjoyed the time spent there. Our dinner at the restaurant was delicious.

Review 62:Leaving

Review 63:The taste of the owner and her judgement on where to place emphasis: food, value for money, charm, beauty, comfort. None of the frippery that goes with 5* that adds nothing to the enjoyment but £££ to the price.

Review 64:The hotel is marvelous. Owner was very friendly and checked me in personally upon arrival. The pictures on the internet do not do it justice, only when you arrive do you see how amazing the property. The only bad thing about the stay was that I could not stay longer.

Review 65:You need a car. The centre of Mougins is a five minute drive but is very expensive by taxi. It is a residential area, so only houses nearby.

Review 66:The welcome - it is like staying in someone's house. The views are stunning and the food is good.

Review 67:Beautiful manor with lovely grounds. The staff was very friendly. The owner Camilla is very charming and makes one feel like a friend immediately. Would return in an instant!

Review 68:Almost everything was perfect, maybe the only thing lacking would be aprinted guide in the room with general info on the hotel and itssurroundings, the restaurant and basic room functions such as tv,heat/air conditioning etc. bathrobe and slippers were lacking butwould be a nice extra touch for the suite

Review 69:Lovely grounds and panorama, beautiful house, nicely decorated room, theowner was a wonderful hostess

Review 70:Nothing.

Review 71:Very friendly owner and staff. Very relaxing area. Full of green.

Review 72:Rooms are getting old and they are not cleaned properly.

Review 73:The hotel is in a beautiful place, surrounded by a sea of green.

Review 74:We loved the hotel and views. The food prepared by chef there was excellent abd the owner delightful and so helpful and knowledgable .

Review 75:Nothing to dislike.

Review 76:A lovely hotel in a wonderful location with a very friendly and relaxing admosphere.

Review 77:Quiet exclusive location. Wonderful setting and polite responsive staff. I would go back again.

Review 78:Everything was fabulous. It's as one imagines paradise in Provence should be - so peaceful and relaxing. Amazing manor house- chateau

Review 79:Getting bags to rooms

Review 80:Totally friendly So understated

Review 81:I loved it! Best vacation ever. Quiet, beautiful, great stuff, not too expensive - and GREAT food!!

Review 82:Excellent restaurant, very friendly owner, big yard, beautiful building
