Reviews for Hotel La Résidence Manoir De La Salamandre

Review 1:Room15 was not really suitable as a bedroom - far too small and only 4 pegs to 'store, all our clothes! Only furniture was one tub chair (and bed). No staff admitted to knowing any English in spite of sign to say English Spoken - only by guests it seems!

Review 2:The building is lovely.

Review 3:Car parking - aditional 10EUR per day Bathroom is small and uncomfortable No WiFi conection in the room

Review 4:Family room is very spacious furnished in old traditional style. It has a big terrace to enjoy view of ocean and hills. In the heart of old centre. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 5:Parking is difficult but throughout whole town Not Just Hotel

Review 6:Location was best. And hotel is beautiful old Normandy style house. Staff very helpful.

Review 7:There is no parking. We had to park at the church on the hill over night. Staff was not helpful in letting us know where we might park. If you arrive in the morning it will be OK.

Review 8:Fun hotel to stay in! It was quirky!

Review 9:The apartment has a somewhat strange layout, which is why we never felt fully comfortable there. Opening the front door, you actually enter the shower/jacuzzi room. As such, it's a nice room, but with a total of 3 doors, the space always feels busy rather than relaxing. The toilet is a tiny separate closet next to the kitchenette. It didn't always flush properly. The kitchenette is tiny by definition, but relatively well equipped. The apartment's deco is fairly neutral, but some of the furniture and walls are already looking a bit worn and tired, and could do with fresh paint. The main room's floor is covered with an ugly carpet that always feels a bit dirty. A big minus is also that the extra bed is stored very visibly in the middle of the main room. Overall conclusion - the apartment feels a bit improvised and not enough attention has been paid to the detail to make it good value for the money. You can certainly find nicer places for the same price.

Review 10:We stayed at the apartment across the street from the hotel. The location couldn't be more central. The downside being that the street does get very busy during the summer. Etretat and the surroundings are beautiful and definitely worth a visit.

Review 11:Parking was a snail issue. Walls are paper thin. Green mould around shower. Towels need destroying and replacing. Rooms on top floor are very small. No clothes storage.

Review 12:Location was very good

Review 13:The room was really very, very tiny. I think the owners added a bathroom in the last years, so there is little place for cloths now.

Review 14:20 years ago I wanted to stay in this hotel, but unfortunately it was booked out. So I was happy to get a room this time. It is still very charming.

Review 15:The hotel is in a central situation, has genuine character and our room 25 was lovely. Good rapport with lady on reception who also prepared breakfast

Review 16:Breakfast could be better. Room was kind of stuffy, no ventilation.

Review 17:Great location, great staff. The hotel itself is really cool since the house is so old and with loads of character. Their moule are the best i've had.

Review 18:Nothing

Review 19:The character, feel and history of the hotel was excellent and the room large and comfortable for 4 people, the bathroom was small but a worthwhile compromise in my opinion. The staff were friendly, particularly at breakfast, which was good and very well set out in the restaurant area, again a room full of character.

Review 20:Not an American-standard hotel but I'm not American and don't care too much for that kind of standard so all's well for me but don't expect large room with grand bathroom etc.

Review 21:Charming place, charming people.

Review 22:Guests should know that there is no lift. We did not expect our sheets to be changed in our two-night stay, but we were surprised that our bed was not tidied after the first night.

Review 23:Period charm of the building, excellent breakfast. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Review 24:Parking is a bit of a challenge in Etretat as a whole bit of patience needed

Review 25:Spotless room. Bathroom with jacuzzi with changing colour lights! Beautiful building in a great spot

Review 26:Being English spoken I found communication a little difficult. Staff had limited English and myself even less french and when it came to checkout with extra charges over booking.coms agreed price I was left a little disappointed with my experience.

Review 27:The most enjoyable feature for me was the original 15th century architecture of this hotel. Very interesting, rustic and cosy. Couple this with the clean and tidy state of this hotel I found to be very appealing.

Review 28:In the morning we've been asked if we wanted breakfast (not included) we decided not to. After half an hour we changed our mind but we've been told that no more breakfast were available for us.

Review 29:I liked the room at the very roof top, small but warm and cosy with a nice view also. The room had a small Jacuzzi with chemotherapy and massage, so cool!

Review 30:Great place to stay. The hotel draws everyone's attention they walk past and you get to walk in and stay. Cosy room close to the beach and great views. Food and facilities excellent.

Review 31:Minimal lobby w largely absentee staff. Old wooden entry staircase not fully maintained or respected.

Review 32:Highly detailed medieval building in heart of town. Modern, renovated room w lovely view out across the rooftops. Old world tavern style dining room for breakfast. Several lovely dining options within five minute walk. Gracious staff.

Review 33:The hotel is located right in the center of Étretat. The town has an excellent view of the cliffs of coastal Normandie, which attracted artists such as Monet. The elephant rock is amazing. The hotel is a short walk from the beach and is located near several restaurants and shops. The town of Étretat is lovely and this hotel features beautiful old wood work and an excellent restaurant downstairs. Very quaint and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 34:Don't you ever go to have dinner at the restaurant downstairs if you want to make if fast or it's cold outside. It takes 15 minutes to bring the menu and around 40-50 minutes to get your food. Still the food was ok.

Review 35:Very interesting building, good location, comfortable bed, fast wifi. Breakfast very simple and ok . Our standard room with bathroom was normal in size , though it might be of importance to someone - 80% of the space is taken by a very comfortable and big bed.

Review 36:No help with the suitcases. No english speeking person.HORRIBLE bathroom : small.shabby, dangerous shower - broken door and hot water. In our family room was a nice table with 4 chairs and NO single plate,spoon,knife,cup...or tee-making facilities! The balkony looks terrible forgotten /old ,dirty,no single flower, but full of bed smells from the kitchen/. We didn't decide for breakfast also because of the smeels in the restaurant.

Review 37:Very comfortable bed. Nice big room .

Review 38:nothing

Review 39:Room was great with great character. Indeed you feel unique. It is centrally located in the city of Etretat about 1minute a way from the beach with a magnificent landscape. Staff is very nice and you feel very welcome. And Breakfast with fresh bread, croissant, jam and quality camembert topped with a nicely hot freshly brewed coffee create the atmosphere of unique moment

Review 40:Stairs' carpet not so clean Expensive car park

Review 41:Free wifi Staff attention Location next to the beach, cliffs, tourism office, shops and restaurants Breakfast with croissants, organic mermelade and fresh bread

Review 42:Staff not friendly at all, limited choice of food for breakfast (and only 1 croissant per person)

Review 43:Location, quality of breakfast

Review 44:Fantastic location, amazing historical building, the village is just perfect. Our rooms was clean, lots of TV channels, excellent wifi.

Review 45:a noise from ventilation was awful. kind of white were grey.... limited breakfast and ONE croissant per capita and no more..))

Review 46:location.

Review 47:Nobody speaks English at all. No parking around.

Review 48:Location was really good, just 100 meters from the beach

Review 49:Breakfast could be much better.

Review 50:Location

Review 51:sa situation

Review 52:Arrival to the hotel by car is almost impossible. Breakfast very basic.

Review 53:bathroom a bit small.

Review 54:the location was very nice, very close to the beach.

Review 55:good location, near the sea, can have a sea view. And nice house.

Review 56:The room is filled almost completely with the (very comfortable) bed.

Review 57:Both the bed and the tub were perfectly luxurious.

Review 58:no parking

Review 59:mostly the shower, our room is likely renovated from an attic so you cannot expect too much to the space. The temperature of the shower was a bit unstable. It suddenly changed to cold water while showering and when you switch the knob for just slightly hotter water, it became unbearably hot. Except this, there's nothing to be picky.

Review 60:The hotel is renovated from middle-age building, a real cool experience to live in it. The location is really near the beach, the room was neat, facilities were fine, bed was comfy, the staffs were helpful and the prize was not too high. I do will recommend this hotel!!! :) A REALLY NICE STAY

Review 61:Nobody was at the reception desk most of the time. The only card for the doors of the hotel was not convenient for a group. Somewhat poor acoustic insulation - sounds from above. The personnel speaks French only.

Review 62:Perfect place, interesting interior, good heating, comfortable beds, normally working sink and shower.

Review 63:It is not enough with a charming building, the staff gave av impression of low ambition. For example couldn't we pay with card (the machine didn't work). One of the lamps i the room didn't work, the shower was not in good condition. But we still liked the hotel.

Review 64:The buildning is very special and charming

Review 65:Don't believe the picture on the booking.com site. It is the building where the reception is located and it is opposite the appartment. Poor wi-fi connection, actually you hardly can use it. Inspite that this is an appartment with a set of kitchen accessories, there ain't a kettle to prepare a cup of tea or a coffee.

Review 66:This is quite roomy appartment (La Mare), clean an comfotable. You can even catch a glimpse of the sea from the balcony.

Review 67:Cannot think of anything we did not like.

Review 68:We liked the style of the building -staying in a very old building but having all modern services. We liked the 4-poster bed and the situation of our room overlooking the main street of the town.

Review 69:Although we booked through booking.com we paid the standard price.(charges were displayed in the hotel) The room was rather small and it was difficult to get attention at reception.

Review 70:Historic building.Situated in central position in the town. Very good food in the restaurant at a fairly modest price. Restaurant staff were very attentive.

Review 71:Don't claim you are English speaking when you are not. They are hardly ever on reception. The cot I asked for wasn't in the room and I was huffed at moodily despite providing written evidence of the arrangement. I was badly scalded in the shower which cut out the cold water suddenly. When I reported it the receptionist didn't even apologise. They need some serious customer service training.

Review 72:The family room was gorgeous and spacious with a rooftop terrace overlooking the town. The building was amazing and steeped in history.

Review 73:Hotel opposite had windows looking directly into our first floor room.Shower room very small and door would not open fully. No extract fan.Very little English spoken. Breakfast was frugal

Review 74:Good position near beach

Review 75:Worst hotel we have ever visited. We travel 10 weeks per year and stayin all levels of hotels. Tiny room. Narrow steep stairway. 9.5 Euros forcoffee, bread, and juice. Cheap bedding and linens. Surly staff.

Review 76:Location. Pretty on the outside.

Review 77:little room, too noisy.

Review 78:narrow stairs/price was to high/stairs were old and dangerous/no parkingspace near bedroom

Review 79:location

Review 80:Fantastic building Nice town

Review 81:Wifi didn't work and nobody tried to fix this problem

Review 82:Good location, clean room.

Review 83:Charming old house near the beach.

Review 84:Hotel in wonderful old building. Close to seaside and cliffs. Many good restaurants nearby.

Review 85:Stairs,breakfast,small bedroom

Review 86:Needs updating

Review 87:Location great
