Reviews for Hotel Merindad de Olite
Review 1:The owners brother has a bodega and there were a number of wines held in chillers ready for tasting but, perhaps through a language difficulty, we didn't manage to do this. A pity as both myself and my wife have taken some Wine and Spirit Education Trust exams and like to try different wines.
Review 2:Excellent location within the town walls. Very good evening meal. All very clean and tidy. Friendly staff. Parking very nearby and free.
Review 3:For all accn you can only drop off stuff in the old quarter and park on the outside. Fortunately there is parking directly below the hotel, but it does require a short walk up or a longer trip around. It is a compromise you have to make if you want to stay in the old quarter of Olite - which is great!
Review 4:Boutique type hotel situated in the centre of the old quarter. Hotel also has a tapas/restaurant along with its own bodega. Do have a look and you will only pay a euro extra to have your chosen wine at the table. Breakfast was very good.
Review 5:The bed was ancient: fascinating but non so confortable.
Review 6:It's the perfect place to stay in Olite, close to the castle, confortable and affordable. Great food and exceptional wines at the restaurant.
Review 7:Bedroom, no drawers, no proper bedside tables and lamps.really dated furniture, did not reflect the first and second floor fittings.Pricey evening dinners.
Review 8:Location, ample free parking, nice staff, lovely town?
Review 9:The hotel does not have a lift, so suitcases must be carred to reception on 1st floor and then up to bedrooms on 2nd floor. Hotel does not have private parking but it is possible to park car outside for few minutes to unload or load bags. Free public parking right behind hotel.
Review 10:The hotel is located in a beautiful traditionally spanish building, lovely character throughout. Rooms are beautifully decorated and spotless. Hotel has a tapas bar and restaurant on ground floor, this is where breakfast is also served...delicious food..reception and bedrooms on floors above. Hotel is perfectly located just inside old city walls with the castle, bars and restaurants etc only minutes away
Review 11:the evening meal was very disappointing,it was very expensive and the service was very slow. The meals were average and small portions, not value for the money
Review 12:loved the location, very friendly and decor wonderful, clean rooms
Review 13:Breakfast not such good value; w-ifi only really good in public areas.
Review 14:Centrally located although we had a little difficulty initially in locating the hotel. Once through the correct town gate it was easy to find. Friendly welcome, pleasant room and good value restaurant.
Review 15:Nothing
Review 16:Small town ,free car park at back of hotel. Friendly locals and storks nesting every where. Decent priced meals at the Parador close by and loads of bars.
Review 17:No complaints at all.
Review 18:This hotel was a fairly last minute stop-over decision tha turned out to be an unexpected bonus on our trip. Extra friendly and helpful staff, along with a nice atmosphere and a great restaurant with a good selection of wines from the local area and Spain generally.
Review 19:Nothing at all a well run small hotel
Review 20:Comfort, great restaurant food & wine from their cellar fantastic here, located right in the old town, decor was lovely, and parking the car no problem at all...easy, owners very helpful we recommend a stay here
Review 21:No lift. Two flights of stairs to room. Difficult if you have mobility problems. Same with parking.
Review 22:The hotel location in the centre of the town. Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The excellent food in the restaurant.
Review 23:Although a bit small, our room was comfortable and clean, with charming regional decor. Tapas, wine, and dinner at the restaurant were superb, as was the breakfast, which included scrambled eggs and delicious orange juice (hard to find in Europe!) We enjoyed the restaurant so much we returned for lunch even though we had checked out. Try the cod tapas, white asparagus with tomato topping, warm confit of salmon & cod on puff pastry with mushroom sauce, the confit of suckling pig with potatoes, chocolate cake with chocolate and raspberry sauces, and the lemon sorbet wit vodka. The only drawback to Hotel Merindad de Olite is that it's somewhat difficult to find in the old city. We would definitely stay there again if we ever return to Olite.
Review 24:Sadly, one night a guest next door decided to boom his loud voice for hours. Not the hotel's fault and we did not report so bad on us!
Review 25:We loved the location of this hotel, an easy walk to the sights and close to a car park ( from the old town). The service was great. Eat a meal here!
Review 26:A bit too small room with insufficient storage for clothes and suitcases, very thin walls (and windows) made for a noisy Saturday night, wifi was too slow (to send off the final work-related files completed en route in under an hour...)
Review 27:Location, friendly and helpful staff (but very varying English skills), comfortable bed (for Spain), pretty good breakfast (with excellent really freshly pressed orange juice), free parking nearby
Review 28:A short stroll from all attractions in Olite, the location is perfect. The hotel is quite small, but the rooms are elegantly but simply decorated - junior suites face the front narrow stone street, the smaller rooms look out over grape vineyards and hills in the distance. We extended our stay by two nights and stayed in both. Our hosts were quite helpful and the hotel is a great value. Not only would I stay there again, I'd like to live there!
Review 29:Rooms quite small, no elevator, you have to lug you luggage up the stairs.
Review 30:Fantastic location, next to the main castle, some rooms have a view of the castle. Friendly staff, but very little English.
Review 31:No negatives. Brilliant.
Review 32:Great location, lovely people, great décor, superbly clean, brilliant restaurant. First class and nothing bad to say about the hotel
Review 33:Stayed for two nights, lovely room, with balcony view of vineyards and castle. Had a tapas meal, and a bottle of wine in restaurant on one of the nights, all good.
Review 34:Price of a glass of wine and a little more choice of meals in the area would have been better.
Review 35:Location in the centre of the wonderful old town. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Hotel was really beautiful.
Review 36:location, friendly staff, willingness to please, great restaurant with excellent well priced food, clean rooms with good quality beds if perhaps a bit to hard and great view towards castle, modern bathrooms. Great value for money, will defiantly recommend as Olite is a lovely village just off the main motorway so excellent for stop overs to south Spain.
Review 37:Everything a bit dark and sombre, but maybe that was because we only saw it in a thunderstorm...!
Review 38:Helpful staff. Located in the heart of the casco antiguo. First class restaurant.
Review 39:Nice breakfast.
Review 40:Good location with free public parking close by. Old building which has been updated for modern living while retaining character
Review 41:None
Review 42:Location right in the centre good parking very pleasant staff spotless clean great village
Review 43:Breakfast was overpriced.
Review 44:Location, and free parking
Review 45:Warm, friendly service Room was adorable Perfect location
Review 46:The staff in the restaurant were not the friendliest.
Review 47:We had a junior suite and it was well worth the money.
Review 48:Location, restaurant, room.
Review 49:Location and style of hotel.
Review 50:We have stayed a number of times now, it is just a fantastic small hotel with an equally good restaurant.
Review 51:Cleanness, dirty and smelly pilows
Review 52:Location
Review 53:Central location, interesting menu and the bodega attached to the restaurant made a pleasant and unusual way to choose the wines at dinner.
Review 54:Great location, friendly staff and good food
Review 55:Pretty town, hotel very comfortable and staff pleasant. Parking nearby.
Review 56:The staff where friendly and the position of the hotel was great with wonderful views The dinner was perfect
Review 57:The Hotel was just lovely, and the owner and staff superb. Not to leave out the fantastic restaurant and wine cellar It was top notch all round
Review 58:Hard to find.
Review 59:Right next to the castle. Eating in the hotel restaurant, you get to choose wine from their bodega.
Review 60:Everything was perfect from the minute we walked through the door. Every visitor must dine there to appreciate what they have to offer.
Review 61:very helpful staff; excellent food in the restaurant; beautiful location.
Review 62:Accommodation and restaurant just spot on.
Review 63:Central hotel in the medieval Jewish quarter. Good restaurant with excellent wines.
Review 64:Olite is a beautify medieval town. The hotel is part of old town with a nearby parking. Easy access. Simple but very nice, with a lot of charm. We figures it had only 2 stars because there is no elevator and the room is small and basic, but just fine. I would return.
Review 65:Charming small hotel with an EXCELLANT wine bar on ground floor - the Spanish rep. of PARKER's was actually there doing VERY comprehensive tasting. The restaurant was good, offering a varied menu and at reasonable prices
Review 66:The owners are great hosts - very accommodating and helpful. Olite is a small historical village and staying at this hotel made us feel like we were part of its history. The hotel restaurant is exceptional and very popular with the local population, so best to make a reservation. Free parking was nearby but we were able to drive to the hotel to drop off/pick up our luggage.
Review 67:Tea or coffee making facility would be nice in the room of a hotel of this calibre. Otherwise can't fault it.
Review 68:Excellent location in the centre of Olite, and at a much better price that's the parador. Friendly welcome, helpful staff and lovely room. Parking nearby in publication car park.
Review 69:I cant's get on with cheese & ham for breakfast would prefer a better choice.
Review 70:We stay here every time when we pass through on our way down to the Costa Blanca, Alicante. It's comfortable and clean and good value. Staff are very helpful and pleasant.
Review 71:nothing
Review 72:We chose to stay in this hotel because of the good reports it had received and we weren't disappointed. It is in an easily accesible part of the town although it does require finding somewhere to park and carrying suicases. The building is full of character and our room ( a junior suite) was in keeping with this and proved very comfortable. There is no lift so have light suitcases! We did not eat in the hotel but had a superb meal in the Parador just up the road. An excellent night stop.
Review 73:We arrived on a Tuesday night and very few restaurants were open. Previously, we stayed later in the week and had more choice.
Review 74:This is our second stay. It is a clean hotel decorated traditionally. It is easy to park just outside the city wall and is only about a 100 metre walk to the hotel. You can walk to the castle, small shops, bars and restaurants. They are all within about 400 metres.
Review 75:Not much communal space.
Review 76:The location was perfect and the hotel's proximity to the parador where we ate in the excellent restaurant. The view of the alley and rooftops from our bedroom French windows. Being a stone's throw from the royal palace.
Review 77:All good
Review 78:The proprietor of the hotel showed us the beautiful hotel and when he saw we were travelling with two motorbikes he immediately offered us an upgraded room at the same price at his sister hotel, El Juglar, 300 metres away, where we were able to park the bikes securely in the basement. Altogether a brilliant service.
Review 79:This hotel was in middle of the medieval town and very quiet
Review 80:very little, maybe a better selection could be made available for breakfast.
Review 81:A great little hotel, the room was exceptional.
Review 82:no breakfast, no parking
Review 83:Lovely place, family run, very warm feeling about it.
Review 84:Lovely hotel, beautiful room with good facilities, private parking for motorcycle
Review 85:The building and room were beautiful and perfectly located in the old part of Olite. Close walk to the castle and churches, as well as restaurants.
Review 86:No elevator - was traveling with an older person
Review 87:Wonderful Staff
