Reviews for Timhotel Chartres Cathédrale

Review 1:The breakfast was very poor value for money at €13+. Poor choice of food, can, at best, be described as adequate.

Review 2:Hotel is superbly position with secure parking and the staff were welcoming and friendly.

Review 3:We had a family room with an extra bed but no pillows. When we enquired we were told that the hotel had "run out" and would a folded blanket in a pillow case suffuce? I was given free parking (8 euros) as a token gesture - Very poor.

Review 4:Great location, pleasant staff, good room

Review 5:Photo's of the rooms did not match the interior atmosphere of the room. Business-liken, a little "cold" room instead of charming and warm.

Review 6:Location. Kind staff.

Review 7:We liked the hotel and we loved the town.

Review 8:Wonderful, very clean hotel with a very friendly staff a block and a half from the train station. Our room had a beautiful view of Chartres Cathedral. Our room was very quiet, we had a comfortable bed, the bathroom was modern. Breakfast was ample, varied and delicious. Easy walking distance to the Cathedral. I would stay here again anytime!

Review 9:The room was quite small.

Review 10:Staff were friendly without being intrusive. Good location. As a tea drinker in France the provision of a kettle in the room to make tea was wonderful. Good breakfast.

Review 11:Bad service. Rooms were dingy with massive carpet stains, smelled of smoke, NO INTERNET the entire stay When I checked out, they changed the rate on me

Review 12:Location

Review 13:None

Review 14:Clean and comfortable with big rooms for Europe. Beautiful old French city. Hotel easy walk from train station. Excellent restaurants.. be sure to go out and see the cathedral with light show projections at night, beautiful. Also, old Viennese carousel and Ferris wheel

Review 15:We ordered a room with a 2nd bed/cot and there wasn't one in room. One was supplied on request but I had to put it up myself!

Review 16:Excellent location and great big comfy bed

Review 17:Location was excellent. Staff were very welcoming and friendy. they all spoke excellent english too. The bed was extremely comfortable and we found the breakfast was varied with plenty of choice.

Review 18:nothing

Review 19:Location was superb; view was good; breakfast was very good (scrambled eggs, coffee machine to make latte, yogurts, fruits, etc. worth the 13 euro).

Review 20:Nothing to complain of.

Review 21:Welcome&Helpfulness of staff;Comfort of bed;Cleanliness;Proximity to Cathedral&Old Town-(view of towers from window);Tranquillity;Breakfast buffet;Bathroom&accessories provided;Free bottle water;Secure Parking.

Review 22:If you are given a room facing the street be prepared for early morning noise from the garbage collectors, etc.

Review 23:The hotel is within easy walking distance of the Cathedral and lots of good restaurants.

Review 24:No AC or fan in our room for hot muggy weather. We would have preferred a room on lower level not two flights of steps in the attic.

Review 25:Ambience, location to city center great.

Review 26:This is the second time we have stayed. It is very convenient, has secure parking, is quiet, efficient service, clean and comfortable. Would stay again

Review 27:Silly little things like the loo seat didn't stay up easily & it was difficult to obtain shower wash - the dispenser should have been full not nearly empty and the shower door leaked water onto the floor.

Review 28:It was easy to walk to the centre, breakfast was a fantastic selection and the staff delightfully helpful.

Review 29:There was a bit of noise from the outside as our room (201) overlooked the street.

Review 30:A highly recommended hotel. Everything about it is what we like when travelling on vacation. The location is very central, clean rooms, ample parking and good internet. The brightest spot was easy settlement of our late checkout request. Natalie at reception desk was very kind indeed.

Review 31:The hotel is in a very good position, close to the cathedral. The parking is not free, but very comfortable (you don't need the car to visit the town). We were very lucky and got a free room update, on quite side and cathedral view. The room was large, nicely furnished, with water kettle and small fridge. Good bathroom with large shower box and good quality toiletries. The night we were in town there was an amazing show of lights on the cathedrale, and after watching it in the square, we could enjoy it also from our bed... unforgettable!

Review 32:The hotel is well located, and is clean, very well presented and provides adjacent car parking. Breakfast is simple but good. The staff were polite, friendly and attentive; Laura on the Reception Desk and Pierre, the night duty Manager, were both exceptionally helpful and friendly.

Review 33:Quite noisy during the night. Not sure if this was other guests or if we happened to be near the boiler room! As we wanted a kingsize bed we booked a superior room with garden view. The garden isn't really a garden but a small patch near the car park but I guess it may be quieter that a room on the front.

Review 34:Air con, comfortable bed. Short walk to Cathedral.

Review 35:It is unsuitable for a longer stay as it is at a main road leading to the station. The bathroom could do with a bit of renovating!

Review 36:The Hotel ist close to Sights in Chartres. It can be reached easily and offers a spacious parking area. Restaurants are within walking distance. Coming from central or south-west Germany, it is convenient for a stop on your way to Brittany.

Review 37:Fridge in room not working and wardrobe should of had doors. Communal corridor decor was a bit over-powering in deep red.

Review 38:Fantastic location. Friendly helpful staff and easy on-site parking was brilliant.

Review 39:Our 'garden room' had a nice view of the car park. Bit misleading. Breakfast was poor the bacon egg poor quality and expensive. Having to pay for the car park!

Review 40:Staff were excellent and friendly.

Review 41:Short walk from train station. Loved the view of the cathedral from our window (Room 311). Appreciated front desk assistance ini contacting EuropCar and arranging taxi.

Review 42:We are a very elderly couple and the staff could not have been more helpful in allocating a room suitable for us, The bed was super king size and very comfortable. The bathroom had a walk-in shower with a large shower head but also a small hand held `spray . Very useful !! Fridge and tea/ coffee making facilities and a view onto the garden with Cathedral Spires as a background.. The breakfast was a little expensive but very nice and replenished as needed, the coffee excellent ! Good parking.

Review 43:Very efficient check in. Car parking on site. Excellent room and facilities. Gluten free breakfast all provided for my husband. Excellent breakfast. Charming and helpful staff. Good location.

Review 44:Hotel: a bit dated but trying hard. Cathedral: interior is being ruined by 'total' restoration! Starts to look like Disney World! This was our last (of many) visits!

Review 45:location! parking!

Review 46:Very expensive breakfast. Watch out- on 2nd floor right off the elevator are 2 steps down to the hallway with the rooms. Very dark and dangerous!!

Review 47:Excellent parking facilities; friendly, helpful staff, good location and comfortable room. Good wifi

Review 48:No bad experiences here!

Review 49:The location was very convenient. We arrived by train and had no trouble wheeling our bags to the hotel. Once there it was a short and pleasant walk to the Cathedral and the lovely old town. Our room was spacious and clean with pleasant decor. The view of the Cathedral from our room was priceless!

Review 50:The hotel bar and restaurant were not open on the Sunday night I stayed, althoughCity centre hotel there was a bar and restaurants just opposite

Review 51:Location, staff, comfort, parking, breakfast

Review 52:Nothing they were excellent

Review 53:The young lady on reception went out of her way to help is after I had made a mistake in choosing the wrong room she checked and moved us to a cathedral view without out a problem she was totally focused in helping us enjoy our stay

Review 54:The lavatory in Room 311 could do with a revamp - new loo seat. Smelt of urine but it looked clean.

Review 55:The location and the relaxed atmosphere and good staff.

Review 56:No niceties in the bathroom only a bar of soap and the sharing bottle of shower gel - no shower cap etc. Mini bar in room had a bottle of water nothing else. Due to traffic and weather we arrived very late so no dinner, no snacks but there was tea/coffee but enough milk for only one cup each.

Review 57:The location. We could see the cathedral from the room.

Review 58:We were not impressed with the breakfast. We feel they could have offered more for 13 Euros. The eggs were awful.

Review 59:The hotel was very near the Cathedral. The surrounding area was very nice. There was ample parking also in this downtown location and the parking was free.

Review 60:Good central location within easy walk of old town and cathedral. Only one night stay so managed to take in some sight seeing. Parking availability a bonus.

Review 61:Too hot in my room- and heating is organised centrally. One realises this fact in the middle of the night of course.

Review 62:I stayed here a number of times, I really enjoy this hotel. Breakfast far better than usual in France.

Review 63:The long depressing, featureless corridors with horrible wall covering.

Review 64:A very warm welcome from the staff who knew our names without us telling them on arrival!

Review 65:The wifi is heavily filred by the hotel server and don't let you surf all the pages you may like. The buffet breakfast is not as generous as it should be, if you're in low carb diet just skip it.

Review 66:The position is the best possible in Chartes, and the internal parking is really helpfull. The bed is very comfortable, and almost no noise can be heard from the room, so you can enjoy a good sleep.

Review 67:4* wardrobe was open box with hooks and 3 coat hangers. Dark and dingy decor and lighting, 1 bulb was 'dead' so left it on table for attention of cleaners where it remained ignored. Mini bar consisted of fridge with 1 small bottle of water. Shower curtain stained.

Review 68:Close to city centre, on site parking a bonus. Breakfast ok.

Review 69:We were pleased to have chosen a comfortable room at the back - with a view of the cathedral. The cathedral itself was an easy 7 or 8 minutes walk away. Having researched the restaurants, the hotel called to book us a table at our chosen one. All in all a good experience.

Review 70:There are only French television channels on the room TV ... would be very nice to have some in English or even German or Dutch.

Review 71:Nice and clean little hotel near the center of the town. Friendly staff and good breakfast.

Review 72:Paying £8.00 extra for car park Breakfast was very dear at £13.00 each Bed was rather hard and not so comfortable. Wifi worked sporadically.

Review 73:Location and private car park. Bath. Good sized room. A view of the Cathedral.

Review 74:Lacks character, but being out and about in Chartres is what it's all about!

Review 75:Parking for the location a treat! Not a character hotel, but good value in a great location. Helpful staff.

Review 76:The hot water provided for breakfast was lukewarm so I couldn't make tea properly. I ended up bringing a mug of tea down from my room, w hich was much better. Ahot water dispenser (as in the Ibis hotel on the other side of town) would be a good idea.

Review 77:My father reported that there was no cold water in his bathroom. The problem was rectified immediately while we were out. (The water in an adjoining room had been turned off while work was done and it had affected his room too). The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. I also appreciated having the tea making facilities in the room and the free water in the fridge.

Review 78:Traffic was a bit noisy early in morning

Review 79:Staff recommended the light show on the cathedral which was a real bonus. What a lovely city and we were in the middle of it and 5 minute walk to the cathedral

Review 80:Wi fi connection only fair

Review 81:Excellent location - just round the corner from the cathedral Lovely clean room with great view of the cathedral Friendly helpful staff Delicious breakfast including scrambled egg and bacon Hotel has own easy parking - great plus.

Review 82:Having booked a superior room it was comfortable enough but was dull andquite drab. The bathroom was tired with a shower in a well worn bath. There was one complimentary lonely bottle of water in the fridge andcoffee/tea making facilities for one cup and one biscuit each. Wecould have managed with just a double room at a lower cost.

Review 83:The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful with a widechoice although quite expensive at 13 euros. Hotel was very central witheasy parking which again was an extra cost.

Review 84:Furnishings a little dated, but still comfy. Needed 4 different codes for WIFI for 4 different electronic devices.

Review 85:Liked how close it was to Cathedral and Saturday shopping, restaurants and parks. Bathroom large by Eruopean standards. Staff friendly and helpful

Review 86:The room was very small and cramped. They also charged for parking. The breakfast food was not done very well. The eggs were stiff and dry.

Review 87:I liked the lobby and the reception staff.

Review 88:There wasn't anything I took exception too.

Review 89:Location: walking distance to cathedral and inviting restaurants. Staff: Welcoming, friendly and helpful Parking: Convenient and easy

Review 90:Stained mugs Poor supply of milk and tea making items Room lighting too dim Air conditioning - have to phone Reception to get temperature adjusted

Review 91:Location near railway station and to old city

Review 92:Breakfast area not very inspiring and we decided to walk into town and get breakfast at a cafe.

Review 93:The hotel is well situated for the town centre and Cathedral. In fact we could see the Cathedral from our bedroom window! Plenty of varied restaurants within easy walking distance. A very pleasant place to stay and we hope to return.

Review 94:Definitely not 4 star. Needs updating. Tea bags weren't replaced, the mini bar was empty.

Review 95:Good location & friendly staff. Car park was very convenient for us. It was also quiet at night.

Review 96:Loved being walking distance to the center of the town with lots of great restaurants to choose from. Nice to have easy parking. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 97:Breakfast is too expensive at 11.50 but cafe at the Railway Station nearby offers a convenient and much cheaper alternative.

Review 98:Friendly helpful staff facilitated early check in. Under cover parking for bikes. Spacious comfortable room. Right at the heart of Chartres and close to the Cathedral.

Review 99:We skipped what looked as though it would be a rather plastic breakfast for EUR 27 (for two people) and wandered over the road to a pleasant bar. The toilet was small, very narrow and poorly lit.

Review 100:Our room was pleasant, and had a lovely view of the Cathedral's main facade.

Review 101:The gardenview should be a parking view. The room was rather small. There was a bar but there were no people and it was rather outdated.

Review 102:The location was great. We could park our car at the hotel. Personnel was very friendly.

Review 103:We stayed in two separate rooms, one was very nice but the other had a very bad smell coming from the bathroom. We put up with the smell but in the morning we found that the shower did not work at all in this room, and we had to shower in the other room that we had booked

Review 104:The beds were very comfortable and the hotel is in a great location.

Review 105:The hotel is described as 4*. It's not. It is a tired-looking building and, although the decor was okay in our room, there were holes in walls, a piece of the ceiling was missing, the walls appear to be made of paper and we had a room which hadn't been cleaned since the previous night's occupants' departure. There was only a scrap of loo roll in the bathroom but, luckily, having been camping the previous week, we (handily) were able to provide our own. None of the bins had been emptied, and the shower enclosure had mould in it. The shower required a degree to get it started, although it was a very (albeit terribly leaky from both shower heads) good shower once you got it going. One of the mugs provided had clearly been used by the room's previous occupants, and we were woken a number of times during the night by noises - including our neighbour's toilet habits. [It was perhaps just our room, in which case, avoid room 109, which is directly above both the door to the car park and the breakfast room.] The hotel has massive potential: the staff are lovely, the location is fantastic and the building and rooms really could be very lovely, but it requires some work before it deserves its 4* rating.

Review 106:Great location: close enough to the Cathedral and local restaurants. Lovely staff, too, and a secure car park which is hugely useful.

Review 107:Not a particularly characterful hotel but we did not expect it and chose it for its excellent location. Breakfast expensive (not untypical) but we just went out for a coffee and croissant which was fine.

Review 108:Short walk to a lively city centre (son et lumiere on cathedral a must) and lovely view of cathedral from our room. Reception staff friendly and helpful, private car park good.

Review 109:Facility was not so good, e.g. Bathtub was partly broken. Cannot say it is very clean, however, it is average there. If you wish to have a clean, modern room, choose "new" hotel over there.

Review 110:location is good, near railway station and cathedral. Staff are friendly. If you would like to experience traditional French hotel, it would be nice to stay here. You can enjoy specious room and tea in your room, which is not so common in France, in general.

Review 111:There were two of us but only 1 small complimentary bottle of water in a room where the air con was not very cool.

Review 112:Basic accommodation for a stop-over on our way home. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Chartres at night is definitely worth a visit - the illuminations are stunning, especially the Cathedral.

Review 113:They answered our phone calls en-route to the hotel immediately and gave helpful directions in perfect English. They gave out the map for the summer evening illumination route pointing out the best illuminations. The breakfast was self-service and was excellent value for money, with attentive staff on duty the whole time. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Review 114:The room was very basic for the money, the bedding was clean but the bed was full of short hairs which I had to brush out. The bathroom wasn't the cleanest either and the shower gel was empty. I requested a quiet room but had people banging around from midnight until around 1am. I was so tired I didn't have the energy to complain. I wouldn't stay there again.

Review 115:Carpark was secure which I required.

Review 116:The toilet light was rather dingy and the toilet itself was painted grey, so didn't look clean, although I am sure it was.

Review 117:Excellent staff, friendly and very helpful. On site parking.

Review 118:The car park spaces were a ill let bit tight, be careful how you park.

Review 119:It was a great location, you can see the cathedral from the hotel, just a couple of minutes walk and you're in the centre. Some great restaurants. The staff we're very helpful

Review 120:From front door all the way to the rooms, this is a 3 star, not a 4 star establishment. I don't like when the star rating is misleading, as this messes up my expectations.

Review 121:Nice hotel. Everything was ok; the rooms are reasonably well appointed, location very close to the historic centre, service good.

Review 122:It was a little old fashioned. There is a car park on site which you should not have to pay for.

Review 123:The location was great. It is a beautiful town. The staff at the hotel are very good. There is parking for a price

Review 124:Room very small and quite shabby. Lack of plug points in room. Price of breakfast.

Review 125:Excellent location, very central for walking around Chartres. Friendly staff. Great safe parking, worth the extra payment. Good breakfast, but expensive. Bed comfortable.

Review 126:We had a meal out at a good restuarant recommended by you but would have liked a meal at the hotel

Review 127:It was very convenient for seeing around the town and especially the Cathedral. We were all pensioners and found we managed very well.

Review 128:'Corporate' feel but rather tired and out-dated (décor and design - first time I've seen steps on same floor). Additional charges - breakfast etc - could be given more thought. Coupled with 'only just' provision of soaps and towels etc leaves a feeling of costs cut to the bone.

Review 129:Location generally good, bed comfort, en suite both good. Cleanliness excellent, but undermined by décor - see crits.Staff could not be more helpful. Parking, size and freshness of breakfast

Review 130:Welcoming and efficient staff. Fantastic central location offering a superb view of cathedral from the inner-side rooms. Convenient parking, but best to book this in advance. Great restaurants within a few minutes walk.

Review 131:The beds - they are too small for 2 people and not very comfortable.Dark room - needs some painting.

Review 132:Location i Chartres, the staff, very nice parking/safe. Breakfast OK

Review 133:Poorly signed,in fact at street level wrongly signed, with Hotels previous name prominently displayed on doors @ street level, very confusing when driving by looking for hotel. When asked for directions locals do not recognise this new name Bedroom, bathroom clean, but bedding comprises Blankets and eiderdown, needs upgrade.

Review 134:secure car parking Room size

Review 135:Someone had been smoking in our allocated room wifi would only support one iPad per email address ?Popular with coach parties because of location but facilities (especially space) inadequate.

Review 136:As near to the Cathedral as you can get.Good car park .

Review 137:Good value, fantastic location near to cathedral and old town. Private secure parking was really useful. Excellent breakfast. Super friendly staff who spoke excellent English but were very happy for me to try my not so excellent French!
