Hostal Rural Villa Vieja descritpion

Situated in the Medieval center, this hotel is located just a 2 minute walk from the fabulous Olite Palace and nestled within the beautiful, rural surroundings of Navarra.
Take the short walk down one of the most attractive streets in Olite to the impressive Palace. Once a castle to the Visigoth kings, it was then converted to a Palacial home by Charles III. You will notice the eclectic mix of architecture that combines Gothic arches with turreted walls and regal gardens.
After a busy day of Medieval culture, return back to the simple comforts of Hotel Rural with its clever contrast of the traditional façade and sleek interior design.

Reviews for Hostal Rural Villa Vieja

Review 1:Breakfast option seemed too expensive for what was offered, so we skipped that. Parking is impossible next to hotel, but easy a few blocks away, so expect having to carry luggage a short distance.

Review 2:Great quiet room, beautiful city, great location to explore town.

Review 3:There is very little to do in the local area other than the castle. Difficult to full a day and night.

Review 4:Lovely lady on the reception really helpful and friendly. Room had a fantastic view of the castle and very clean

Review 5:Modest breakfast but adequate. Room a bit pokey although perfectly satisfactory. (The single pillow on the bed was a bit flat). Parking possible nearby but not immediately obvious how to get inside the walls and negotiate the very narrow streets to a park.

Review 6:Exceptional position 250 m from Palacio Real which could be seen from the bedroom window. Very helpful and friendly reception staff.

Review 7:Skylight windows as on top floor. Parking in public areas sometimes tight. Found quiet area behind hostel which was perfectly OK.

Review 8:Location, receptionist, peaceful.

Review 9:Nothing to dislike.

Review 10:Top quality bedroom and en-suite. Excellent fittings throughout, well designed and well maintained. Very helpful staff. It was a joy to stay at this hotel.

Review 11:Not being able to find it! Make sure not to try to negotiate to the hotel. Park right inside the wall and walk.

Review 12:It was literally a FIND. I don't know how someone could find it without trial and error, but regardless it was worth it. Estelle at the front was so personable and helpful, and breakfast was a treat. Lovely experience. Room was very small, but we din't stay in it for longer than just to sleep.

Review 13:Noise from workmen in adjoining house at 8.15am I didn't sleep well as the bed didn't suit me, but my husband slept well. So just a personal issue really.

Review 14:The location The cleanliness of the room The style and furnishings of the hotel The staff Good value Free wi-fi

Review 15:Everything about this hotel was perfect. The warm welcome. The extremely comfortable beds. Situated on a small street, the noise levels at night were kept to a minimum ( olite can be a very noisy place, we always seem to visit when there's a fiesta in progress ) which is no easy feat.. The breakfast was also very good. Quality / price ratio excellent.

Review 16:Excellent location within city walls. Comfortable room, modern design hotel with traditional facade. Excellent breakfast with real orange juice provided!!

Review 17:The room was a little small and dark but we had booked the last room.

Review 18:The receptionist was very efficient and friendly. The hotel was immaculate and within one minute of the Royal Palace, town centre and close to a number of restaurants and bars

Review 19:Breakfast very simple at a few tables crammed in reception.

Review 20:Location - in Olite. Not far to free car park

Review 21:Parking search outside old town.

Review 22:Immediate in the old town. Small room but O.K., it's a hostal.

Review 23:The hotel was quiet and near the centre.the staff were very helpful

Review 24:nothing

Review 25:small and friendly

Review 26:breakfast sparse

Review 27:Helpful staff

Review 28:Hostal Rural Villa Vieja is a nice place with friendly staff. Our room was big, it was made for someone with a wheel chair.

Review 29:Breakfast could have been better

Review 30:Excellent staff (Estelle) and fab location

Review 31:Great place for the price

Review 32:Great location, great rooms, excellent staff (Esther), ocd level of cleanliness, friendly place to stay, can't recommend it high enough

Review 33:Narrow rooms and ordinary building in a stone medieval city

Review 34:The location

Review 35:Town is out of a fairytale; no strangers, everyone we met was so pleasant! The hostel exceeded our expectations and we'd definitely come back!

Review 36:Small room. Breakfast poor - cold coffee. Not worth paying the additional extra.

Review 37:Good location and value for money.

Review 38:We had a very enjoyable stay and the staff made us very welcome.

Review 39:Rooms are a little on the small side, breakfast small with limited choice, better to have a buffet breakfast setup in my opinion. Olite is nice but quiet, one or two nights is enough to spend here.

Review 40:Centrally located within Olite, just metres from the castle which is well worth a visit. Hotel rooms modern and tastefully decorated.

Review 41:We were charged 42 euros for washing one load of laundry which we found unacceptable, but our request for a reduction was not granted. I felt this spoilt our stay somewhat. Breakfast was mediocre despite freshly squeezed orange juice.

Review 42:Generally a good hotel with very helpful lady on reception

Review 43:The family are wonderful! We stayed there last year on our own but this year we were 3 couples. Everyone agreed it is the best place to stay in Olite! Our best regards to all at the Hostal! x

Review 44:Hotel has now changed to a no pets policy: this was unclear duringthe booking process (a comment mentioned a dog). Note that no petsare now allowed.

Review 45:Good basic hotel, with excellent-value breakfast in the centre ofOlite. Easy parking just outside the main castle gate. Friendlyaccommodating staff.

Review 46:It was a little difficult to find but when asking the locals they were able to point us in the right direction.

Review 47:We thought the hotel was excellent and the daughter on the desk (I believe called Esther) was very helpful and first class. Nothing was too much trouble. Right in the centre of the walled city once hotel was found!

Review 48:Had a wonderful stay in this beautiful little town! Locals were friendly and the food great. The hotel receptionist, Lorena, could not do enough for us! She was very informative with a great sense of humour!

Review 49:Nothing

Review 50:The staff were extremely accommodating - wonderful view of the castle - super room in this wonderful small, walled city. We loved our time here!

Review 51:The room was a bit claustrophobic. We were on the top floor and there was only a skylight. No window and no view of the medieval city.

Review 52:Great location (once you find it). Close to the castle, shops and restaurants. Parking was outside the city walls but access was good. We enjoyed the local restaurants and the children playing in the park outside the cathedral late at night.

Review 53:A little hard to find hotel entrance in the old narrow streets, and parking only in town car parks nearby.

Review 54:Lovely setting in old walled town, beautiful building, tastefully refurbished in a modern style; helpful courteous staff, good continental breakfast.

Review 55:Excellent hotel within the old wall of the city. Easy to find. You have to park outside the wall but it's close to the parking. The rooms are a good size and comfortable. There is plenty to do in the little village with a castle, wine tasting, and interesting streets with very little traffic.

Review 56:Great hotel, pity Olite doesn't support it and open some restaurantsin the evening. Most were closed and this was Easter week !!!!!!

Review 57:Clean & comfortable. Staff were good, very helpful.

Review 58:We particularly liked its location; situated in the narrow streets of the medieval village, close the castle, shops and restaurants. The staff are great.

Review 59:Hotel was great! We stayed in December and the village of Olite was pretty much closed at night. Sadly, the only restaurant open was a Pizza place - and he didn't start serving until 9.00pm!!! We looked in at the local (and very beautiful) Parador Hotel too for a glass of Rioja to while away the time whilst waiting for dinner, but were met with a very frosty, unwelcoming Senora who watched our every move and stood with arms folded whilst we had our drinks - we left quickly!! Over 200euros a night too - so don't bother to stay there!

Review 60:Beautiful little family-run hotel (more like an up-market B&B) with excellent rooms (decent size double bed - not the usual "mean" size of 4'6", with good quality bedding) and a superb bathroom with whirlpool bath and shower. Great attention has been paid to the fixtures and fittings too which were all in the right place - and someone had designed them with great attention to detail. Breakfast was an excellent 5euros each and unlike the usual "buffet" breakfast was divided into categories which one could choose - e.g. "natural", "country" "meat and cheese", "croissant" "cooked" etc. We chose "natural" and had a huge plate of fresh fruit; cereal and yogurt - with excellent coffee (from a proper coffee machine which ground the coffee beans!). The location is superb and much better than wondering around the city of Pamplona at night trying to find a hotel. A local resident stopped us from driving the wrong way in the middle of this medieval village and then summoned up a friend to lead us to the hotel! Great service! Very good value for money. 67euros for 2 of us, including breakfast and tax.

Review 61:There was nothing not to like. Except the night receptionist was smoking and the smell percolated all through the hotel, but that's not the hotels fault she should smoke outside.

Review 62:Within the city walls of Olite and easy to find, a very helpful receptionist with fairly good English who told us a safe place to park.

Review 63:Cars of visitors not allowed in city center. Free public parking close by but you can't pack/unpack your car in front of the hotel.

Review 64:Nice and clean hotel with new and modern interior. Very friendly staff and good value for money

Review 65:I liked the Hotel and recommend that their web site, or the Booking.comwebsite provided detailed instructions on getting to the Hotel whendriving an auto.

Review 66:The location was great. The staff was very willing to help, and providedus good information for our visit to Olite.

Review 67:Easy to find, great location, very friendly and helpful staff. Good value.
