Reviews for Grand Hotel De La Reine

Review 1:Wonderfully quiet spacious room with a very comfortable bed. The view of Place Stanislas from the dining room was superb and the breakfast was first rate with lots of choice.

Review 2:Parking is in a public garage about three blocks away. No break on the cost.

Review 3:Best location in Nancy. Staff is wonderful. Rooms were unbelievably large for European standards.

Review 4:All perfect - even the car park was only a 5 minute walk!

Review 5:When I booked the hotel, I knew it formed part of a large square, however, was delighted to find that it was 'the' square and so everything was within a short walk of the hotel. I felt like Marie Antoinette walking around the historic centre. We had read some reviews that the decor was tired, but our room was recently decorated (side room) and the bar at the front of the hotel certainly wasn't dated. The function rooms at the rear probably were a bit dated, but didn't affect us.

Review 6:The radiators were on full blast and there did not seem to be any way to turn them off, so we had to sleep with the window wide open onto an inner roof. Slight smell of drains during the night, quite possibly from outdoors. Also the rooms may be cheaper for walk-up guests than on booking.com.

Review 7:Wonderful location, imposing hotel, friendly staff, excellent breakfast.Good strong wifi.

Review 8:Everything was just right!

Review 9:We were pretty apprehensive after reading a couple of very critical comments on the hotel, but all the more surprised that none of them were confirmed. We were more than pleased with our room, the bathroom was very nice and clean, the bed was comfortable, the staff helpful and friendly - we will come back to this gem on Place Stanislas!

Review 10:The best Location in town overlooking the Most beautiful square in Nancy. Convenient to discover the old town area. Great restaurants in walking distance.

Review 11:The toilet paper had about 5 little sections left, no Kleenex, no soap or other toiletries, the sink was broken and had been glued back together, but was missing a few pieces. The elevator stopped short of our floor so you had to climb up 5 more steps with no railing. I have trouble with stairs and use a cane so an employee of the hotel suggested we use another elevator that came clear up to our floor. We did and got stuck in it for over a half an hour. The desk clerk came and said she’d be right back. She didn’t although she may have been the one who sent for the man with tools who did get us out. No one ever even said they were sorry about it. The bed was great. The hotel in its day must have been very nice, but its day has passed.

Review 12:Location and the good bed.

Review 13:An overpowering smell of drains late at night in the foyer and lift. The room was not affected and the smell was not there throughout the day

Review 14:A great and grand hotel in a prime spot.

Review 15:Car park is a few hundred metres away, which is no big deal but access is not easy.

Review 16:fantastic location right on the beautiful main square. Traditional French rooms but modernised and very nicely decorated. Lovely old town right on the doorstep with a good selection of restaurants. Well worth stopping off and if you're staying in Nancy, stay here!

Review 17:Great difficulty in parking car in order to access the hotel to confirm arrival. Would be better if details of parking facilities (location etc.) could be made available at time of booking.

Review 18:The location was excellent and the room was comfortable.

Review 19:Compared with other hotels, the price was rather high considering non included breakfast. The staff of the hotel bar was friendly, but they should create more atmosphere in the Outsider sitting area. Simply check out the other restaurants/ bars on Stanislas plaza (candles can make the difference).

Review 20:Staff was very friendly and helped us. Location of the hotel is top. You can experience the city by start walking. Some would say the building is quite old, we loved the atmosphere.

Review 21:The Aircon was not very good and the wifi became very slow at times.

Review 22:The staff were amazingly friendly and the location was amazing; right on the main square. Beautiful.

Review 23:The hotel was ok and comfortable, a little tired, could do with a refurb.

Review 24:The location was great. It was on a very busy square that came to life at night.

Review 25:Lack of adequate soundproofing between rooms. Interconnecting doors not soundproofed and door with large gaps at the bottom meant that every conversation/music could be clearly heard. Not much fun when next door guests noisy until 2am Breakfast ordinary, hotel definitely not Four star quality

Review 26:Wonderful location, beautiful old building.

Review 27:Temporary parking arrangements for loading and offloading luggage from a car are a complete and utter shambles. For a hotel of this supposed calibre to have no hot water for a shower at 09:00hrs is deplorable. One of the receptionists was extremely rude and needs remedial lessons in basic customer service.

Review 28:Excellent location right on Place Stanislas

Review 29:It was not clean. The restaurant was closed. No porters to handle luggage. In need of complete renovation. Cracked sinks and generally very dirty

Review 30:Location

Review 31:We did not take breakfast at the hotel as at 17.50 euros per person that seemed expensive and there were plenty of local cafes in the vicinity.

Review 32:Fantastic location and very pleasantly refurbished rooms.

Review 33:Very high bath difficult to get into and very slippery inside. Hotel unable to provide bath mat or step. Very low toilet and no bidet. Significant dust on tops of all pictures etc and hairpin on floor of bathroom. No car park only public facility around corner.

Review 34:Great position and great bed

Review 35:Access by car difficult not even drop off point but location worth the hassle eventually

Review 36:Helpful staff esp reception. Lovel building in better state than we anticipated !

Review 37:Very glad we booked a room overlooking the square as one of us was feeling unwell that weekend and spent a lot of time in our sitting room people watching.

Review 38:No parking facilities for the hotel(understandably),but awkward for elderly clients to carry luggage from the nearest multi-storey,though it was not too far away!

Review 39:The room was most comfortable and bathroom well-appointed.Excellent breakfast in a charming 18th century room. The situation is ideal for exploring the beautiful city centre.

Review 40:This is NOT a 4 star hotel, it may have been once but now trading on its location. Overpriced for what it was. But staff friendly and helpful.

Review 41:The service was not brilliant. A little brusque on check in and a bit hapzahard with dinner. Overall did not feel an overly warm welcome.

Review 42:Lovely building in a beautiful square. The square looked spectacular at night when it was all lit up. The food was excellent but quite expensive.

Review 43:Could not logon to the wifi, the process did not seem to accept the UK postcode. Used my phone instead (bomb at Calais). Minor part stay.

Review 44:The view. The spacious room with comfortable period furniture. The welcoming staff. The breakfast.

Review 45:No problems at all unless you don't let the smell of fresh pastries and bread waking you up in the morning.

Review 46:Room was clean, comfortable and cozy. Bathroom was updated and bed was great and luxurious.

Review 47:Breakfast expensive, no service, limited selection for the price (no fresh coffee, no eggs!) Bathroom antiquated, and no thermostatic valve for shower

Review 48:Location; reception staff very welcoming

Review 49:The floor and corners of bathroom hadn't been cleaned properly

Review 50:Situation on the main square couldn't be bettered. Hotel has a neglected old fashioned feel to it - but full of character and my deluxe room overlooking the cathedral was beautiful with antique furniture. Modern bathroom. Huge comfortable bed.

Review 51:We were disappointed that the restaurant in the hotel did not vary its very slim evening menu and in fact were told on two occasions that the a la carte menu was not available!!!!

Review 52:We came to extend our interest in Art Nouveau and were very successful

Review 53:The hotel doesn't deserve to be rated 4 stars.

Review 54:The location of the hotel is exceptional and it's historical significance undeniable. The nearby park is gorgeous and with the office of tourism on Place Stanislaus too, it made it easy to get settled and out seeing the sights.

Review 55:The fact that the whole hotel needs to be renovated and the price or the 4 star rating do not reflect what it should be

Review 56:The location, right on the Place Stanislas, in the middle the centre of the town, restaurants, bars and shops

Review 57:Should have stayed longer.

Review 58:Everything was great. Located in beautiful Stanislas Square. Rooms were large and luxurious. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 59:Restaurant, service bad , food not recommended

Review 60:Location excellent, middle of the old center with nice buildings and butiful park Atmosphere of the old hotel

Review 61:The Bathroom. to damp / wet = black spots and paint coming loose. The toilet, no place to sit properly. In front of the bidet. When taking a doche running water everywhere. black

Review 62:The character /style of the hotel

Review 63:Hotel was tired, worn and lacked care and attention. Very strong smell of drains in corridor and room. This hotel just does not justify 4 star rating. Restaurant closed. Arrival by car is difficult and car parking is some distance away. Very disappointed.

Review 64:Location in Stanislas Square

Review 65:Floors that creak but then again it is an old building.

Review 66:Location, breakfast, bar. Why would one stay on a modern franchise hotel when you can stay in this absolute gem on the world heritage site?

Review 67:The hotel is a very impressive building with a rich history. The staff are very friendly and proud of the hotel. A marvelous choice if you want to wander the city.

Review 68:The bar didn't have olives for my martini. Small but I was mildly surprised and by no means did it effect my love our visit.

Review 69:Breakfast facing the square and cocktails in the bar.

Review 70:Wifi overly complicated and decided not to have breakfast as too expensive (€ 17.50 per pax) Great cappuccino and croissant in the caffe in front of the hotel!

Review 71:The location is perfect, in the central square of Nancy. Rather old rooms, but very comfortable and lovely and warm - had a great bath!

Review 72:The square St Stanislus where the hotel is located is impressive and has Christmas decorations and a great atmosphere. The hotel also has the air of grandeur from the past.

Review 73:The staff in the lobby could would be well advised to smile and show some courtesy every now and then. The room was not very clean and whenever we took a shower the bathroom became a lake! On the check-out day we received an unrequested wake-up call definitely too early. We had set our alarm 1h later and we would have left the room on time anyway. We didn't feel welcome. I wouldn't recomend this hotel.

Review 74:It is in the heart of the city on the iconic Place Stanislas. The bed was very comfortable and the wifi connection very fast.

Review 75:Bathroom door was very loud on opening. It sounded like someone was breaking in each time you opened the door. Not so good in the middle of the night.

Review 76:The beds are super comfortable. Fabulous location. In the middle of everything, between the old city (with the best restaurants!) and the shopping in the new city. Right on the square itself. Loved it!

Review 77:Bathroom: brush for toilet missing, corners had humidity stains. Noise: window isolation was not enough. Street noise could be heard in the night. Furniture: old furniture quite damaged (wardrobe door didn't close properly).

Review 78:The location. Stanislas plaza is beautiful, and so is the hotel front. The bed was very comfortable. The architecture of the hotel. Quite pretty.

Review 79:Too expensive, the parking is additional 13.5 euro/night, the breakfast 17,5 euro/night, no minibar, very old, angular floor, window to the quad. Renewed, but uncomfortable bathroom, the mirror is so far, that you can't shave your face, because you can't see it...Whatever you do, after having a shower, the whole floor of the bathroom will be wet.

Review 80:Good location

Review 81:-the welcome at Arrival was very poor -the Quality of the room is not anymore adequate -I could hear everything my neighboor was saying

Review 82:-Location is excellent

Review 83:Erratic Wifi Staff not very friendly except one young man on duty in the evening who was very helpful.

Review 84:Breakfast to die for, especially the Bircher muesli. Quiet. Lovely room on side so we could watch life in Stanislavsky Sq. Would recommend unreservedly.

Review 85:Parking is not on sight so a walk from the multi storey with luggage as not easy to park nearby even to only drop off luggage

Review 86:Right in the main square so close to restaurants, park and a son et lumiere in the evening

Review 87:Nothing and if I read one more comment about small lifts and patchy wifi I will scream!

Review 88:Loads of character bit faded around the edges. Clean and spacious and located right on the square.

Review 89:Location was superb Had a free upgrade and the room was large Staff were very helpful and were able to check in early Would recommend this hotel and also the city of Nancy

Review 90:Parking for check-in was difficult. Overnight parking was located in a public garage several blocks away. Wi-fi was not very effective. Rooms were a bit dated, in the "grand" style.

Review 91:Location was directly on the Grand Place. Very convenient to restaurant and attractions of Nancy.

Review 92:Wifi was not up to the standard elsewhere and kept dropping out. No lift to mezzanine floor although receptionist offered to take luggage - we later found a staff lift to move ourselves on leaving. Staff are worked hard and sometimes rooms only cleaned late for example. Parking is 100m away in public carpark - OK at €12.5 a day.

Review 93:Its all about the location of this grand hotel. Quite in keeping with the 18C Square, the hotel is virtually traffic free on all sides so calm. Great coffee shop merges into restaurant on the front. Light room, not huge but big enough with decent bathroom and a bath too! Kettle in room. Great breakfast with huge range of pastries, home made jam and so on - as you might expect from the hotel with a decent restaurant.

Review 94:One person for reception, cashier, porter etc. Long delays. Old fashioned and a bit run down place. Extremely small room with window that opened only partially onto a courtyard. Why do they always gives the worst rooms when you book with Booking.com?

Review 95:Location.

Review 96:It's a little be pretentious defined it a Gran hotel because in the room I slept there wasn't the attention to details, like hide the tube behind the washbasin.

Review 97:The confort of the bed and the clean of the room

Review 98:The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. There was a light and sound show in the square which was excellent. The hotel is close to everything so that we did not need a car. The architecture in Nancy is fantastic, Art Nouveau and in excellent condition.

Review 99:No help with luggage or parking. Lavatory didn't work so we had to change rooms. No refrigerator for storing medicine. Breakfast inadequate, no toast, egg boiler not set up properly

Review 100:Lovely position, nice decor

Review 101:TV too big and badly located. Poor lighting - bedside lamps no good for reading.

Review 102:Location on Place Stan, so sound and light show right outside. Comfortable bed and tea/coffee facilities in room.

Review 103:hugely grand, elegant historic building right in the heart of Nancy. Somewhat dilapidated, but reflected in the very reasonable price of rooms. Romantic, the best Europe has to offer....

Review 104:Being part of the Stanislas Historical location is thrilling while being close to all the Nancy treasures : of the past and present. The hotel staff are very decent and enjoyable people. The light and sound of the place is not to be missed.

Review 105:Parking costs are fairly high but not too far from the hotel.

Review 106:Excellent location Amazing customer Service Friendly and helpful staff Comfiest bed Lovey hotel

Review 107:Pedestrian square so you have to block traffic on a tiny side street todrop off your bags. Covered public parking a few blocks away 12Eurosdaily. First room was small and shower leaked but a free upgrade to alarger room was very beautiful. Main floor, resto and bar decor needsfreshing. Tiny elevator even by European standards.

Review 108:Superb location on main square. Hotel facade part of Son et Lumière shownightly. Double sinks in bathroom, marble counters, freshly painted. Oldworld charm. Beautiful staircase.

Review 109:There was no room safe for valuables and no refrigerator in the room

Review 110:Very clean, good bathroom, good bed, nice renovations (including our bedroom). Pity no car parking but that was not the end of the world.

Review 111:Rien

Review 112:Tout

Review 113:Very bad service, the room was small and the bathroom old and crusty. The breakfast buffe was horrible even if it served in a nice room.

Review 114:Rooms are somewhat dated.

Review 115:Location & breakfast

Review 116:Hotel has had a bit of a makeover but could do with a bit more.

Review 117:Check-in receptionist was excellent. Bed was extremely comfortable. Location superb.

Review 118:Very nice staff all over the hotel ! Very good beds and a wonderful royal breakfast room !

Review 119:Historic hotel iin perfect location

Review 120:The location is great right in the main square with parking very close by and well organised by the hotel staff

Review 121:Unhappy on how they treated local host family and cleaning room, especially lack of towels.

Review 122:Location was very good.

Review 123:Parking a huge pain, wifi awful, breakfast way to expensive, view from room was awful.

Review 124:Comfortable bed, location was awesome.

Review 125:Fabulous building.... feels so special

Review 126:Perfect location right on the square

Review 127:Decore & historic setting of hotel with modern upgrade to guest facilities.

Review 128:No parking available, except in a nearby park house, difficult to access because of one way streets.

Review 129:Shower

Review 130:Atmosphere, food, quality of service location

Review 131:Parking was in a public car park and not really close to the hotel
