Reviews for Casa Matías

Review 1:People who do not like it seemed to be mis-informed of what kind of place it is. It is nothing other than a rented room (no food or other facilities).

Review 2:Clean,simple unfussy, but comfortable. There is no reception or visible staff so it felt like renting a small, one roomed flat for a week. Was well cleaned every day.

Review 3:Owner/ manager very helpful in getting us another place to stay, and arrange for free transportation too, when her place was not available for a second night.

Review 4:We were enjoying ourselves until around 11pm when next door neighbors lite cigarettes. Their smoke came through the walls. We are not smokers. Our place was saturated. And we had to listen to their conversation into the wee hours.

Review 5:Nice helpful staff

Review 6:For a weary pilgrim, this is away from the centre and other Peregrino places. This is off track It is close to the Hotel Roma which features a very good (if by comparison mire expensive) ´Menu del Peregrino'. No facilities for washing and drying and nearest lavanderia is a long walk.

Review 7:Helpful staff. Comfortable beds.

Review 8:Wifi does not work on the 3rd floor.

Review 9:Location 200M from train station, good size room. Excellent dinner at Casa Barbadelo 2km away - taken by car and return.

Review 10:Nothing

Review 11:Staff most helpful. Close to bus station. Described the locational us. Directed us to Church to get stamp. Arranged for us to be collected & driven to reasonably good restaurant for dinner.

Review 12:Hot water in shower was non- existent. No staff to be seen after check in. Part of the floor was collapsing. Tap in sink kept going on and off. Was freezing in room.

Review 13:Staff moved me when the wi-fi was not available in room

Review 14:Nu a mers wifi-ul deloc.

Review 15:Dupa o zi de calatorie cu 3 avioane si 2 autobuze, am fost primite cu ospitalitate si caldura. Ni s-a recomandat unde sa mancam. Totul a fost ok.

Review 16:Wifi non existant in room .even in cooridor it was poor but password did not work and once owner had shown me my room and collected money ge was not able to be contacted. Bed was lumpy.

Review 17:Close to railway station and camino. Large room. Shampoo abd shower gel supplied

Review 18:Spent over an hour trying to find the place, expected a bigger door/marking but it's a bare door beside a shop with a tiny plaque. Also, the reception isn't 24 hours so you have to ring if you're in after 6:30pm which we were because of flight delays.

Review 19:The rooms were comfortable, clean and in terms of the Camino de Santiago, close to the trail.

Review 20:Everything was very satisfactory

Review 21:We received a warm friendly welcome, on arriving late in the evening we were taken by car for a lovely meal, the transport was free of charge.

Review 22:I wasn't able to pick up a wi-fi signal even though my reservation indicated free wi-fi

Review 23:The gentleman checking us in was very friendly and helpful. He was also able to provide us with our credentials for walking the Camino de Santiago which was convenient as we arrived late in the day and wanted to head out early the next morning. The room was quaint, clean and spacious. There was a bar cafe about a block away that was open early in the morning for a quick breakfast.

Review 24:Hard to find in the rain though only a couple of blocks from train station; sign is not clearly visible. Attendant actually at next door photography shop. Heat not on (common at this time of year in Spain) but shivered getting out of bed.

Review 25:Young woman attendant very efficient and helpful. Owner picked us up to take us to dinner at his Casa Barbadelo Restaurant, few kms. out of town and brought us back. Interesting stories, courteous. Room good size for Spanish small town pensiones.

Review 26:It was down the hill from the center of town. The neighborhood is fine -- just not as quaint & beautiful as the center.

Review 27:Owner was nice; lots of natural light from big front window; room was pretty big

Review 28:They charged me 10 euros more per room than was quoted on this website. With my poor Spanish I never understood why. They spoke little English.

Review 29:Close to the bus station and train.

Review 30:It was not well marked from the street. Need bigger and more noticeable sign at the entrance. There were no drinking cups in the bathroom.

Review 31:The location was very near the camino trail at the end of town. Room was large and clean but nothing fancy. Owner provided transportation to another alberque that served an excellent pilgrims meal.

Review 32:No personnel in premises; check in office is next door but there is no sign in the door in regards to this. Hopefully the door bell rings next door so the clerk can hear and come out to help - it was a bit unnerving to arrive at a locked front door and not knowing if the bell rings were heard

Review 33:Attending employee was very helpful in providing advise on where to eat and what to see in town. Room was larger than usual and everything was clean; excellent location just a few blocks from train station

Review 34:Nothing to report.

Review 35:Helpfulness of staff. Dinner at the "sister" establishment out of town and the free transport to and from. A good budget hotel.

Review 36:Location was away from the historical part of town. Facilities were worn and tired. There was no signage at the door and no indication of how to get in. Ended up pressing all four buzzers, hoping that someone would answer.

Review 37:It seemed safe.

Review 38:We got picked up by the super friendly daughter of the owner in Arzua, they drop back to the Camino way from 7.30 the next morning! So peaceful and serene! Food is amazing and all home cooked by the owner himself. It is like a home away from home and they cannot do enough for all their guests!! Place to wash and hang out clothes, free wifi and sun loungers to make any aches disappear after a little while spent lounging in the sun. Definitely worth a visit :-)

Review 39:This is a good hotel in Sarria, on the Camino de Santiago. Rooms with private bathrooms and an elevator.

Review 40:The location was great, staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 41:Had difficulty finding the premises, it was above a camera shop,. Lady in camera shop looks after giving you key.

Review 42:Worrying "dip" in the bedroom floor.

Review 43:Warm welcome. Availability of clothes line. always a bonus for Camino walkers. Spacious room.

Review 44:No reception , food none , poor quality furniture, bedding could do with replaced get,

Review 45:I had just one booked

Review 46:Staff very nice

Review 47:Nothing much.

Review 48:We started our Camino from here and its in the middle of town. Got the keys from the woman in the photo shop next door.

Review 49:Strange entrance and check in. I walked past it twice before I found it.

Review 50:Not much.

Review 58:The WiFi did not work. The toilet did not flush properly.

Review 59:Difficult to find. Not well signed at street level.

Review 60:Close to supermarket.

Review 61:Bright, clean room..good bathroom, perfect location for a Camino walker. She accommodated us early..we arrived at 0900. Happy place.

Review 62:Glasses & dishes missing in the room. furniture quiet old & down.

Review 63:location, was ok & the price.

Review 64:not easy to find, not well marked but proximity to the Camino de Santiago route is excellent very close by,

Review 65:Facility was rundown. WiFi not available in rooms. Walls paper thin. Bathroom poor.

Review 67:location location location nice comfortable hotel

Review 68:Disco, no sleep, too bad , Could Not sleep with music

Review 69:Room, cleanliness, lady Who met us, sooooo nice

Review 70:could not find a fault owner provided free transport to wonderful resturant which family also ran would stay again

Review 71:nice tidy and very private

Review 72:Hard to find and no breakfast available on site.

Review 73:Quiet and comfortable and good value.

Review 74:could use a warm radiator to dry out your socks

Review 75:Very Comfy, like staying with your aunt in a spare bedroom, with dinner at another aunt a short drive away.

Review 76:Mario was so helpful, looking on the internet for us. We had a lovely breakfast with him . Our toon was good for our short stay, the stairs aren't got the faint hearted. :-). Perfect location too! Thank you Matrio! Ann

Review 77:Very small lift so I used the stairs all the time.

Review 78:The lady and man that we dealt with were very helpful and pleasant. The lady helped us organise the transport of our backpacks. She then phoned and booked our accommodation in the next town.

Review 79:A modest Casa without any on-site staff but helpful owner appeared within minutes of phoning him.

Review 80:Owner collected us in the evening and drove us to Barbadelo where we had a good meal, sorted us out with passports for the Camino, drove us back to Casa Matias and organised onward transport of our baggage.

Review 81:Don't get a room with street view, trash collector come very early!

Review 82:Good shower, safe, clean place. They offer to take you to their family restaurant for dinner, good deal.

Review 83:In checking in it was hard to find the ¨manage¨. It turned out to be thecamera shop next door. When we checked out there was no one there and wefinally had to pay the bill at the first albergue.

Review 84:Spacious and on the Camino.

Review 85:Couldn't find reception. It really is a series of rooms above a photo shop. Not sure that rustic charm is a fair description of the rooms. Had to ring to find someone.

Review 86:Staff were friendly and gave an excellent recommendation for dinner.

Review 87:Not in the historical center. No reception, payment should be done inthe proximate photography shop, which was closed even after the siesta. No service, no information about pilgrim passport, no city MAP...forvery very independant and peace seeking travelers only.

Review 88:The price, close to the train station.

Review 89:There was no entrance or sign for this hostel, you had to ask at thephoto shop next door to register. This was closed all afternoon. Verypoor service.

Review 90:Room waqs clean

Review 91:I'm over 6' so the double bed with the footboard was a little short.

Review 92:This is a neat little peregrino hotel, in a town filled with auberges for the pilgrims to Santiago. The reception is in the photography shop under the hotel. Very clean and friendly, this was a good find.

Review 93:The staff were confused. I saw three different list of guests and myname appeared on one but not on the other. They did not seem to knowwhether my booking payment was done through credit card or not. I had topay them in cash and will check when I return home to see if the amountwas taken on my card.

Review 94:The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Location a little awayfrom downtown but not bad.

Review 95:The hotel is not hard to find, if you can find the plaque on the outside of the building. But check in was a mission. There is nowhere in the building to check in. I went up and down the lifts 3 times stopping at every floor! You have to check in at the photo shop next door, but there is nothing to tell you this !

Review 96:Clean. Good size room with small bathroom. All I needed for 2 nights while walking the camino. Has a lift! All good once I had checked in.

Review 97:Reception is in a photostore, almost akward at first. But once you get the key, you use a different entrance.

Review 98:Friendly host, lovely clean room, close to old centre

Review 99:The bed was very uncomfortable as the springs could be felt thru the sheet. The table in the room rocked not just because of the legs but because the table top was barely attached to the legs so the table could not be used. The walls are paper thin and the people next door had the tv on and I could hear it as if it was in my room. I ciukd also gear them in their bathroom. The tv in my room did not work.

Review 100:Room size was good. Location ok but away from the Camino

Review 101:This hotel is very well located in a quiet main street in Sarria. (Busstation around the corner and train station at 150 meters). The staffare friendly and very helpful. An economic dinner can be arranged at arestaurant nearby, with a car service to pick you up and bring youback again to your room. This hotel is very good value for money in atown where other hotels may be quite expensive (or too far from themain track).

Review 102:I stayed on New Year´s Eve in this hotel: vey quiet. The lady owner isvery friendly and made me feel at home in a nice, warm room with aprivate bathroom. This hotel has an elevator! (This is rare in Spain). Also a drinks machine. Very good value in Sarria.

Review 103:The recommendation for dinner and the transport there and the excellent value meal

Review 104:Hard to gain access Very noisy bedrooms only separated by wardrobe which conducted noise No hair drier or wifi

Review 105:Clean staff member was pleasant

Review 106:No English channels on TV

Review 107:Very helpful staff

Review 108:It really outdated. Needs a coat of paint and a good clean.

Review 109:Location was good. It was just around the corner from bus stop.

Review 110:The woman who was our host was very helpful, accommodating, and gracious.

Review 111:No reception area or food available in building.

Review 112:The noise from the clients in the adjoining rooms....no one in attendance when needed..

Review 113:The comforts and privacy..

Review 114:Too basic for anymore than one night

Review 115:Suited our purpose as a place to sleep for one night.

Review 116:The owner was waiting for me on the street! Very friendly and helpful. Very secure place if travelling alone.

Review 117:The owner drove us to the restaurant in his own car and picked us up when we were thru with dinner

Review 118:Location for Camino

Review 119:Slightly difficult to locate on the street.
