Reviews for Hosteria Picos De Europa
Review 1:You were not allowed to take food into the room. This was a problem for us as we wanted to cycle and there were very few cafés at the top of mountains, therefore we needed to make sandwiches.
Review 2:We had a bedroom, lounge and bathroom, which we did not expect( the lounge, that is). The lounge had a TV and a fridge, which was an added bonus. Also there was a garage to leave our cycles.
Review 3:A Very good stay and comfortable room. They also do daily Pico's Tours on and Land Rover which you may need to book in advance. Their breakfast is complete and highly recommended before the tour. Would stay again!
Review 4:Other guests who knew the owners got treated better. The floor's creek so bad you are frightened to walk about at night in case you wake everyone else up.
Review 5:Getting out of the hotel.
Review 6:Considerable traffic noise, especially early in the morning.
Review 7:A central location providing easy access to the Picos de Europa and also the restaurants and bars of Potes. This is an older hotel but it is clean, comfortable and provides an excellent breakfast.
Review 8:Room faced the street and windows are not very well sound-isolated - night of our stay unfortunately was night of local festivities - super loud.
Review 9:Owner was super kind and helpful. Very nice breakfast.
Review 10:On 1st floor and noise from above kept us awake. Shower head holder over the bath was old and did not hold the head in place properly. No air con.
Review 11:Owners were very helpful and the hostal was very convenient for the town and to get to Fuente De.
Review 12:Very friendly owners made our trip! The place is very warm and welcoming. Everything was very clean and breakfast was tasty. The location, close to the restaurants but not noisy at all was perfect. The staff not only helped us with organizing the Picos de Europa trip but also helped with other local knowledge. Highly recommended.
Review 13:We initially thought the hotel was a bit quiet, and the staff a little distant - though I think much of this was just language difficulties, which is fair enough. A little more "service" would be nice. I was advised to park my motorbike on the pavement just outside the hotel, which concerned me - but was all fine in the end.
Review 14:Good location and reasonable value. Our room was surprisingly spacious, with its own little lounge - a pleasant change from the camping we'd been doing, and a good way to avoid a couple of days of storms over the Picos! A nice gentleman (the owner?) suggested a great route for me to take on the motorbike, which was appreciated!
Review 15:Asked for a Twin Room on Booking.Com, this was not even mentioned when checking in! The childs bed in room squeeked with every movement. Given room key upon arrival, then WE had to ask where room was!?
Review 16:The property was very clean and tidy. Plenty of food for Breakfast. Good value for the price.
Review 17:We were disappointed not to find a small kitchenette and there were notices on the wall warning us not to bring food into our rooms. We booked an apartment hoping to be able to do some washing, and at least make our own breakfast. It would have been cheaper and better to have stayed in an hotel room.
Review 18:Having a suite of rooms made it easier to move around.
Review 19:We all enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Its location was ideal, only a few minutes stroll from the centre of Potes. The breakfast were varied and substantial and I would certainly recommend this hotel to my friends.
Review 20:Potes is a special place and this hotel is the default choice for Brits on motorcycles. It has everything one could reasonably expect and is great value.
Review 21:The walls are thin. Noises can heard throughout the night from the neighour rooms. We were very unlucky to get a very noisy neighour on our 2nd and 3rd night. There is no elevator so be prepared to climb a few flight of staircases. The owner runs a tour company too. But he only conduct the tour in Spanish so unless you understand Spanish else it is not worth taking up the tour package. He rushed through the tour and ended the tour 1 hour early with only 1 stop for picture taking. The bus station is about 20 mins walk on uneven pavement.
Review 22:The male owner can understand and speak English. His wife can't but she is very polite and helpful. Like the rest of the stay I had in Santander and Cangas de Onis hot water can only be available from the resturant/bar run by the owner. So its good to bring along your own travel thermal flask.
Review 23:A bit noisy but it is in the main road running through the town.
Review 24:This is a small family run hotel We were given a warm welcome. The view from our suite was of the mountains & was spectacular. The fridge was very useful. Our rooms were clean & traditionally furnished. An ideal location for trips out & biker friendly. We were given the name of several good restaurants as the hotel only serves breakfast.
Review 25:Nothing to actively dislike. The room was a bit dark when you walked in but that is only because of the wood panelling.
Review 26:Well situated in town and we had a quiet room overlooking a small garden. Comfortable and pleasant.
Review 27:Staff is quite rude/not helpful. Rooms are small and very noizy Wifi doesn't work in room Everything looks old and used
Review 28:Location is in the middle of the town
Review 29:Nothing not to like. Maybe offer a discount for booking a trip with them (ie quad biking).
Review 30:Friendly and helpful staff, great location for the town, bars etc. nice big room, loved the wooden floors.
Review 31:The hotel is very central. The room was very large. There was some noise coming from the main road passing the hotel but nothing a set of earplugs didn't sort out.
Review 32:The tongue and groove walls and ceilings made the room feel very dark and dated.
Review 33:Almost everything. The staff were very helpful with their local knowledge and advice about where to visit.
Review 34:The wifi in our room didn't work at all and the room got extremely hot very fast. Careful opening the windows when it gets hot cause then your room will be filled with bugs.
Review 35:The staff is great and help a lot if you have questions. Also helped that they were bilingual.
Review 36:The room was a little cold. Poor TV reception.
Review 37:Good location. Terrific breakfast.
Review 38:Rooms were very comfortable location excellent
Review 39:Very spacious rooms, amazing breakfast and you can book all your adventure needs at great prices.

Review 57:Central. Excellent value.
Review 58:Only one slight quibble, the shower head was baddly fitted.
Review 59:Good communication with owners including the one with as much english as my spanish.
Review 60:Good sized room - included a lounge and bedroom, large comfortable bed, hotel in easy walking distance of all town's amenities. Parking close by
Review 61:It's easy to park the car nerby in a public parking aerea. That is something unusual in Potes.
Review 62:Location Helpfulness Recommendations
Review 63:Well placed for touring the beautiful Picos. Nice town, plenty of places to eat. Ideal first stop from Santander ferry.
Review 64:Couldn't speak English No information about hiking/activities although attached to travel office.
Review 65:Location Nice staff
Review 66:Nothing
Review 67:It's location, the size of the suite.
Review 68:rooms to main road can be noisy
Review 69:location, slightly old-fashioned interior with charme
Review 70:Rather expensive bar drinks (compared to drinks in bars in Potes)
Review 71:Good rooms, great breakfast, friendly welcome, pleasant atmosphere
Review 72:No Issues or concerns
Review 73:Location in the centre, basic but good value and has a triple room which we required.
Review 74:View of picos from our window Owner does amazing tour of the mountains. Not to be missed! A highlight in Spain! Hotel is in very good central position with bus stop nearby.
Review 75:The location was on the corner of a busy street. It was close toeverything. The woodwork was old and well maintined with an old Europeanfeeling but it lacked a warmth and welcoming attitude. It filled ourneeds but just wasn't as wonderful as other places we stayed in forthe same money.
Review 76:Water temperature inconsistent.
Review 77:Located in the center of the city The staff was very nice and knowledgeable Beautiful looking interior design Good price WiFi connection strong
Review 78:Lovely big room with free parking in nearby field. Easy walk to town with zipwire along the river - great for the children! Really good resturant/bar on the way into town and there is a large supermarket just next door for picnic supplies or breakfast that was not included for us.
Review 79:It's a little noisy outside, but nothing you can't deal with.
Review 80:It's brilliantly located in the center of Potes, which is a very active village, for those who don't only want to see the mountains. It's also the place where all the roads meet. People where very helpful, and there's a lot of tourists trips planed if you care to join.
Review 81:1. Staff speaking poor English 2. Noisy room, spoiled and restless night, you may hear the cars from outside even with closed windows like they are running next to you in the room, waste of money 3. No staff at reception at 7 am when we departed, no bell to notify about check-out 4. We left the key and cash payment for our stay in the discreet place at reception desk under the key, however we got charged later at 7:49 am on our credit card without a notification neither a call although we haven't authorized the payment. 6. When we called to clarified the situation we were promised to get back whith feedback which haven't happened. We contacted the hotel by email in English as it's an international language. We got reply in Spanish despite the fact we don't speak it and kindly asked to communicate in English. It repeated 3 times and we failed to do further attempts. We don't think it's polite. 7. The only thing that we understood from their reply is that they claim they haven't found money which is hardly to believe. Meaning we paid the double price for such a miserable stay. We stricktly don't recommed this place for the stay in Potes. We regret we did it.
Review 82:We got checked-it even earlier than the usual check-in time.
Review 83:Some of the restaurants in the village were disappointing and money grabbing.
Review 84:The setting, the scenery and friendliness. The tour of the Picos with Alberto was excellent even though there was a lot of cloud.
Review 85:Drinks and breakfast in hotel were expensive so didn't try. Anotherreview said there was secure bike parking but there wasn'T. No noair con & very noisy water feature when window open. One of us foundpillows very uncomfortable.
Review 86:Good value room and great location for motorbike touring. Staff helpfulwith suggestions of places to visit outside the area. On riding holidaywith a friend but offered a choice of double or twin room, which wouldbe great if you we're a couple!
Review 87:The bed was not super comfortable.
Review 88:It is a great setting in this delightful small tourist town, in easyreach of good walks in all directions out of the town. It is family runand you receive a very warm welcome. The breakfast is excellent. Inaddition the landlord has a separate business taking trips into thePicos with his 4x4. As it was quiet the day we were there he took us toFuente De. We had intended to walk back to further down the valley fromthe top but the snow turned us back (end of May!). The room, a suitewith sitting area, was very pleasant with views of the mountains fromthe windows.
Review 89:nothing to not like!
Review 90:Expected a "Hostel" - got a little country luxury - it's not a room, it's a miniature apartment! Staff wonderful, scenery incredible and marvellous value for money - even on-site secure parking for the motorbikes - and Potes is a MUST SEE destination
Review 91:Though the hosts helped with the luggage, an elevator would have been a help. One of us had sore feet from hiking on the Camino.
Review 92:Friendly hosts who provided a warm welcome to very late arriving guests, helpful suggestions for enjoying the area we planned to visit, large well-equipped rooms with kettle for tea and coffee.
Review 93:We had the breakfast one morning (15.40 euros for 2) but didn't bother after that. It wasn't buffet style, our table was laid with our ration of sliced cheese, ham, yoghurt etc. Nothing wrong with it but it seemed quite expensive for what we had.
Review 94:Room was lovely, with a little sitting room attached, with kettle and fridge. Potes is a good base for walking in the Picos and the hotel proprietor was helpful and knowledgeable in this regard. We had booked for 3 nights but stayed for 4.
Review 95:Very friendly hosts gave us helpful knowledge and advice about walking in the area. Lovely large and well-equipped room with kettle and fridge and beautiful views into the Picos mountains.
