Reviews for Hotel Mar de Plata
Review 1:I know it's the custom but not starting dinner until 9 pm is a little late. An 8 pm option would have been nice.
Review 2:Nice hotel with hood staff. Great value. Shower was strong but small.Bed was very firm.
Review 3:Like a lot of pilgrims, I like to leave early in the morning to beat the rush and the heat. I walked down to the reception area at 6am and there was no one there and the door was locked. I literally could not get out of the hotel. I sat there for 30 minutes waiting for someone to come unlock the door. Finally an employee came in and unlocked the door for me. Apparently there is another way out however, there are no signs telling you where. Such a fire hazard.
Review 4:The room was clean and was a nice treat while walking the Camino de Santiago.
Review 5:Wifi was free but had to sit on the floor near the door holding up my phone, a hairdryer in the room would have been good, a little bit off the Camino de Santiago and hard to mind on approach to the city from Triacastela, although an easy short cut on the way out
Review 6:Comfortable bed
Review 7:nothing really. It's about a 10 minute uphill walk from the main pilgrim centre, but there aren't many options closer
Review 8:close to train station and shopping zone Modern, spacious, well equipped Air conditioning Wifi worked well in room
Review 9:Breakfast.Not a big deal but we did expect more from a restaurant-hotel. It was the most miserable we had in 3 weeks in Spain.
Review 10:Great value and the restaurant was just what we needed after cycling from Villafranca del Bierzo. Really helpful staff and highly recommended.
Review 11:It is a small "do not like" but we need to eat dinner earlier than 9pm(as we walked a long way and our country has a tradition of earlier dinners). We had to find another restaurant (but it was close by the hotel, so not a big problem).
Review 12:The helpful staff, and the lovely reception lady who could help us in our main language, English. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. We appreciate the WiFi too, as we like to contact our family in Australia. Thank you for a lovely one night stay on our Camino!
Review 13:10 min walk to the old city, 20 min walk from Camino coming into town, hard to find in the twisted, tiny streets
Review 14:Sunny room, efficient staff, located where the people live, big bathroom, twin beds set apart not side by side
Review 15:We liked everything but clearer signage for the entrance would help.
Review 16:We stayed here at the start of our walk on the Camino de Santiago. It's modern and gleaming clean. There is lots of choice at breakfast. I would recommend better signage.. We walked from the street through a car park and had difficulty figuring out this was what we needed to do.
Review 17:Mainly the location
Review 18:The friendliness of the staff, especially the female receptionist
Review 19:The staff!
Review 20:This was clean place relatively easy to find and close to the train station.
Review 21:Toiletries were sparse.
Review 22:Clean bed and bathroom.
Review 23:Clean room
Review 24:They had no refrigerator, no safe, no hairdryer.
Review 25:I liked their Jacuzzi bathtub.
Review 26:Breakfast not included.
Review 27:Nice and clean. Expensive compared to other hotels along the way to Santiago.
Review 28:The room and breakfast.
Review 29:The staff at the hotel went out of their way when I left an item in the room. They sent it to our next stop for us. Thank you!
Review 30:Wished the breakfast was a little heartier to get us started on our hike.
Review 31:basic, clean, and comfortable. A very large group came in just before we checked in and the staff handled the crowd efficiently.
Review 32:I thought the hotel was a great value for the money. The location wasgreat with lots of local color. I heard someone practicing bagpipes as Iwalked past a dance school where a large group of senior citizens weredancing. Elisabet was extremely helpful at the front desk. It was agreat way to start my camino. Surprised to read Stephen's commentabout only one star--- certainly much higher!
Review 33:The areas leading to the rooms are narrow and sound can travel into the rooms
Review 34:Staff were very attentive and helpful. The location was excellent as it was right beside the bus stop and close to the start of the camino in Sarria
Review 35:There is nothing we didn't like.
Review 36:This hotel was excellent value for money. As we were walking the Camino, the hotel was in walking distance of the railway station when we arrived in Sarria. It was also close to the start of the Camino from Sarria. The staff were very helpful. The restaurant was also good value for money. I would recommend this hotel for its convenience and value for money.
Review 37:Room 302 Two twin beds with firm mattress and crisp linens. Furnishingsare modern but plain and functional. Wifi worked great up until 10pm butnot at all in the morning which is when I needed weather report. Hotelrestaurant and bar closed Sunday evening which required this guest to goout in rain to find somewhere else open on Sunday evening for dinner.I paid the evening before as I was leaving early to walk the Camino. The front desk clerk walked me down the stairs to show me where to exit the garage the next morning as no one would be on duty at 6:45am when I needed to leave.
Review 38:I didn't like that no one spoke english, except for this veryhelpful friendly receptionist named Elizabeth!
Review 39:I like the clean modernized well air conditioned rooms.
Review 40:Staff did not offer to show to room or explain how the key card orfacilities were to be used. Advertised as being on the Camino where anearly start is the norm, restaurant not open till 9.0 pm
Review 41:Room was to a good standard and was clean and tidy. Breakfast gave agood choice of fruit, cereals, meat & cheese etc.
Review 42:The lady at reception was so helpful she was worth the price of the stay! I was planning the Comino Walk to start from Sarria and she answered all my questions by email promptly. She provided me with passports so I didn't have to stress over them. She assured me they could arrange for luggage transport and it worked like a charm. She emailed me a list of hotels that would be on the route and when I asked for suggestions she was spot on about them. I had an excellent walk because of her help. She was on the job in the evenings and speaks excellent English.
Review 43:Staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a good choice on the breakfast buffet but the price was more than quoted on the booking.com reservation advice.
Review 44:Dining room did not open till 9.00p.m. which is very late for pilgrims on the Camino.
Review 45:Central location next to the Camino. Rooms were small but clean and warm. Excellent breakfast.
Review 46:A little too far from down town and Camino route. Continental breakfast very meager.
Review 47:A very comfortable relaxed stay. Very close to Lugo to Sarria bus station but about 10 minute walk from Camino track. I found it hard to find in the morning. Otherwise all good and good value. Evening meal superb but continental breakfast disappointing.
