Reviews for Dormy House
Review 1:Breakfast option is only buffet (no express) and cost 20 euro
Review 2:Greatly located on top of the cliff, easy to access golf course and a short beautiful trek, lovely apero menu with amazing view and comfortable room
Review 3:The hotel doesn't have elevator, so probably would be inconvenient to elders.
Review 4:Super good location with excellent view of the city. We booked 2 twin rooms with partial park view and when we arrived, the Madame in front desk told us they upgraded our rooms to sea view! We were so grateful and happy. The room is spacious and clean, the bed is really comfortable. The bathroom is clean with big bathtub. The hotel has a shortcut directly to the beach, and a free parking.
Review 5:loved everything the town, the coast, the view and how nice the staff was.
Review 6:everything esp. the dinning room and food, it was outrageous, the best we had in all of France over the three weeks we had there.
Review 7:When we woke up, there was a spider just beside my wife... But not a small spider... A big one (2cm of body)!
Review 8:The best view of étretat, for sure... The room was large with a mattress made of clouds! The bathroom was equally spacious! Everybody was polite, easy chekin and out... And many more
Review 9:It was in Etretat, which was a spot I had wanted to see. I wanted to sketch the Cote d'Albatre, the hotel was the perfect stop to take off from. Y
Review 10:Wines were very expensive, no lounge area to quietly sit after dinner had to use the bar which is not wonderfully comfortable
Review 11:Excellent Room with a good bed and marvelous views good bathroom . Very good breakfast, expensive wines
Review 12:Fabulous setting, the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful and the hotel cat was adorable. If there had been tea/coffee making facilities in the room, it would have been perfect.
Review 13:A bit on the costly side, but great for a weekend stay if you are on a budget.
Review 14:Stunning location and panoramic view. Very clean, comfortable, and well styled room. Balcony. Breakfast was delicious and all-you-can-eat.
Review 15:There was a quantity of dog ends left at top of steps by our entrance door. Is this the responsibility of the smoker or maybe an ashtray outside the door? Difficult one - but in any event, was unpleasant.
Review 16:Path to the town/beach was a bonus. The food was excellent. View amazing - wonderful huge opening window!
Review 17:The two ladies at reception who were so icy and full of their own importance
Review 18:that the manager decided to offer us another room better than that initially given to us which was nursing home style
Review 19:The restaurant. We made a reservation for dinner at check-in for a window table overlooking the ocean. When we got to the restaurant we were told that all of the window tables were reserved and there was no compensation.
Review 20:THE VIEW. SIMPLY PUT
Review 21:Breakfast cost is expensive, and on one day it was Calotic , no clean tables and we had to ask and wait for food to be replenished
Review 22:Great location, easy to find ,rooms in reality dint match booking.com description , trade up and ask to be in new building if you can afford it
Review 23:No elevator, it's quite a work out to walk from the parking lot to the room, especially carrying luggages.
Review 24:The location is excellent, walk 5 minutes to the beach, saves us lots of time. Room is beautifully decorated. View of the ocean and cliff from the room is outstanding. Free parking is a great plus!
Review 25:Price of breakfast scared us off a bit and made us go look for one somewhere else
Review 26:Great location Charming room Friendly staff Check out possible til 12pm
Review 27:The breakfast costed 16 euros. If it was cheaper, it was better for us.
Review 28:The location and the view from the room were very nice. And the room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
Review 29:Fabulous location on the hill overlooking Etretat and the sea. Good parking, bar and restaurant with a terrace overlooking the sea. Will almost certainly stay here again in the future.
Review 30:Nothing to mention.
Review 31:The hotel was magnificent and the views oh, la, laa. The dinner was perfect and very taisty we really enjoyed it! We also played golf at Etretat golf...what a nice golf course with beautiful views. And I also loved the beach...mornig and evening swimmin!
Review 32:Nothing.
Review 33:Wonderful situation, great welcome, very comfortable room and great food. The staff were extremely helpful and it must be the best place to stay in Etretat which itself is delightful.
Review 34:We loved the views over the town & the sea. The food & service in the hotel restaurant is excellent. There are some lovely walks in both directions along the cliff tops.
Review 35:We had a corner room with a balcony facing the sea and the cliffs, with a view of the sunset - what a great place to sit and sip our wine. Quite possibly the best seat in Etretat!
Review 36:Just a remark about the amount of cheese served from the menu de terroir - delicious, but minuscule portions of 3 cheeses; Could do better!
Review 37:Perfect location with only a short walk into town - so away from the madding crowds - but it is uphill from the centre of town! The garden/park overlooks the town/sea, so a great place to take coffee/a glass of wine. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast generous, with a good choice including some hot dishes. The staff were, withoout exception friendly and helpful. We would definitely return.
Review 38:Access to the hotel with bags is poor.
Review 39:The location, great bed - just made it for breakfast. Great dining room unless you are in the half without view. Excellent food.
Review 40:We thought the price for keeping a small dog in our room was too expensive! Also really missed not having a small kettle for teas and coffees when you retire in the comfort of your room!!
Review 41:When I researched the hotel in Etretat and found out that Hotel Dormy House was hanging on the cliff overlooking the town I knew I'd made the right move in booking it! The hotel did not disappoint! The staff was friendly and attentive. We had a comfortable and quiet room and the breakfast was plentiful! I enjoyed sitting in the bar with my laptop and the wonderful view and we had a succulent dinner in the restaurant served by very attentive and professional staff. I shall never forget my best desert ever!!
Review 42:The cleaning products smell was a little strong when we got in.
Review 43:Well located, with an excellent view of the fallesies, rooms are comfortable, staff very kind, and Étretat is indescribable!!
Review 44:Breakfast had not enough variety although the setting is stylish and comfortable. We expected a bit more.
Review 45:This is a very charming place. Old as old can be, but with lots of charachter and flare. The view is amazing and a little side-trail would lead you to the town below. No doubt the location and the people who run it make it one of the more unique places we've had the chance to visit!!.
Review 46:No bad experience, everything was perfect
Review 47:Staff is very friendly and professional, location is excellent with spectacular view, room is very cosy, clean and big vs Paris hotel
Review 48:Wonderful location and fantastic view! We enjoyed the atmosthere and our nice and neat room. We also liked friendly personnel and attentive service. The Restaurant is the best in town: everything is very deliciout, good wine. There is absolutely nothing bad to say about this Hotel! Great!
Review 49:The advertised view on the park was in fact a view on the car park, very noisy and of which lights really disturbed our much needed sleep... When we complained to the reception staff the next day, they told us you forbid them to advertise the side rooms overlooking the car park as such and only allow them to advertise those very bad rooms as rooms vith park view which no longer exists as the park is now turned into a car park... You have mislead us and you have this time let us very badly down! My husband and I would have never booked a room at that price overlooking a car park. We therefore ask you to refund what we would have never booked if only you had the honesty to provide an accurate description! Deeply unsatisfied indeed.
Review 50:Checking out after a night without any sleep!
Review 51:As is often the case in older French hotels there was a strange musty odour
Review 52:Dormy house is a traditional French hotel which thankfully has not as yet been taken over by a chain. The staff were very thoughtful and efficient and the restaraunt was excellent.
Review 53:Possibly the evening meal and breakfast, though good, a tad towards the expensive..
Review 54:The hotel setting and the staff who were most helpful and friendly.
Review 55:Breakfast employee was coughing and should have been wearing a mask at the very least. it was a continuous cough which when I asked was told she was on an antibiotic for Bronchitis..all we could imagine were the germs ruining the smoked salmon
Review 56:Location, ambience, hotel services.
Review 57:The restaurant was a disappointment. The tables are so close to each other it is impossible to have a private conversation. The food is not good, nothing interesting or tasty. I was very ill on the way home and for two weeks afterwards with campbylobacter and we did wonder whether it was after I had langoustine on the last evening, when we decided not to have the set courses but choose from the a la carte, which again was a disappointment. There is nowhere to sit in the hotel other than in your own room if the weather is bad.
Review 58:The position of the hotel and the views.
Review 59:Would have liked tea and coffee facilities in the room.
Review 60:Great position for the town, beach and cliffs. Very friendly and comfortable hotel. Stayed four nights and will definitely return.
Review 61:Nothing to dislike
Review 62:Lovely big room with balcony and sea view. Stunning. Comfortable and clean. Evening meals very good. Staff very helpful. Character and quality.
Review 63:No slipper, no electric kettle or tea..... Only one room in the hotel has a big balcony (the balcony you can see in the picture of "Directoire Double Room with Sea View"). In my room there's quite small balcony, and I felt cheated. If I knew that I wouldn't have chosen "Directoire Double Room with Sea View " which is quite expensive.
Review 64:Excellent view, very kind staff, quite big and nice room. And the location is also very good.
Review 65:Price of breakfast an flack of kettle in the room
Review 66:It was perfect, good location, easy to park, lovely food, albeit breakfast at €16 euros was expensive, rooms modern and clean
Review 67:One of the bar staff was very aloof but this did not detract from our stay, just a bit of a shame.
Review 68:Have just stayed at Dormy House travelling there by motorbike. Received a warm welcome and had one of the best meals, would return there for the meal alone! Superb views.
Review 69:TheHotel has obviously become popular as it has such a high rating. It is not cheap though. Some guests not prepared for that as we had to wait at reception behind a couple who were challenging everything on their bill and with their booking (which was through booking.com).
Review 70:Room overlooking the town and seaside. Good quality "fruits de mer" in restaurant. Helpful reception staff and very charming waitress at dinner. Windows are well glazed which was a benefit when a squall blew in from the channel.
Review 71:Elevator only went to second floor, so we (well my husband) had to carry bags the last flight. But we are young enough to do it and the view was worth every step!
Review 72:The seating area in our room had a view of the beach, the cliffs & arches and town below. Lovely path down to beach and town. Excellent restaurant. Friendly helpful staff.
Review 73:View. The superior sea view rooms are worth paying extra for. Restaurant. The chef prepared us a special vegetarian meal. Full marks for effort and taste.
Review 74:Very expensive breakfast and it is not worth it. No conditioner. We have parking view room and it was quite noisy in the morning while people were checking-out.
Review 75:Very nice staff, comfortable hotel, good location, amazing view.
Review 76:The seagulls cry a lot. Some people might bother it.
Review 77:The location is wonderful. I alreday had dinner reservation at downtown, but I would like to have dinner at this hotel next time I come back. The staff is very gentle and we could enjoy relaxing stay.
Review 78:I booked a room through Booking.com for Dormy House Hotel with a view facing the rear of the property. When I was taken to my room by staff, I found that they had kindly given me a seafront view room at no extra charge. The room was beautiful with magnificent views of the sea. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the setting of the hotel is stunning. I would highly recommend a stay at this beautiful hotel.
Review 79:Nothing except our room was a bit dark.
Review 80:Thr rooms are spacious, elegantly furnished and clean. The hotel sits high on a cliff which overlooks the town and the sea. Simply beautiful. The grounds are well kept with lovely gardens and ample space to sit and enjoy the view. The restaurant was good. I would come back in heartbeat!
Review 81:Nothing really.
Review 82:Set on top of a hill overlooking Etretat, a perfect spot to unwind. Great sea views. You feel apart from, yet very close to, the main town.
Review 83:We had some hits and a couple of misses with the wine list. Why is it that French restaurants don't provide a bit more information on each wine?
Review 84:Virtually everything. Excellent food with good menu choice which was moderately expensive, but still very good value. View from the hotel and short walk to the beach. Very comfortable bed. Helpful and informative staff.
Review 85:No sleepers
Review 86:The rooms with see view are great. We got one in the corner so it wasnt a 100% perfect clear view but still amazing. Staff was great and we loved the special attention we were given We had a morning coffee on the ground floor terrace. The view was stunning (we were lucky to have a great weather)
Review 87:standardized restaurant service staff not really perfectly formed no bathslippers
Review 88:the location breakfast served in room view on the clipps comfortable room and bed no carpet on the floor - perfect
Review 89:Tiny bathroom and inadequate furniture in the bedroom. On arrival they offerred us probably the worst room in the hotel; small, gloomy, no sea view, on the third floor with no lift. I had booked a "superior" room with sea-view. I rejected this and a better room was found immediately. The "panoramic restaurant" has only a minority of tables with a "panoramic" view. The rest of the dining room is cramped. If you do not book through Booking.com they offer 10% reduction on the room rate if you dine in the restaurant - is this known to Booking.com?
Review 90:Good location for cliff walks and access to town. Wonderful views from the terrace, some rooms and a few tables in the dining room.
Review 91:There was no AC or a fan so we had to open the window and than the bird's noise was unberrable. The service over dinner was bad.
Review 92:The view, the garden and cleanliness
Review 93:I was slightly disappointed that there were no fresh fruit at the breakfast, but perhaps this is quite common in French hotels.
Review 94:I loved this hotel! Dormy House is the best hotel in Etretat. The views from the garden to the beach and the famous cliffs are amazing. There was also a convenient path from the garden straight to the beach. Furthermore, the hotel looked very grand and welcoming and service was impeccable. Also the hotel room wifi worked very well!

Review 97:Breakfast seemed expensive at Eur 16 each
Review 98:Close to town, lovely location on cliffs
Review 99:Too hot in the room, and no way to turn down the heat.
