Reviews for Hotel Edmond's
Review 1:the shower overflowed and water entered the room from the bathroom the first time we showered. Had to take quick showers and control water for not overflowing as we were advised that repairs were not possible during our stay (Rm nr. 3).
Review 2:Friendly staff, nice brasserie at the basement, refurbished and clean rooms, easy public parking when returning to the hotel for the evening. Easy drive to MYS.
Review 3:Limited parking space. DON'T check in during peak reastuant time, the staff nearly ignores you because the staff is shared with the restaurant. WiFi is free without password, meaning that there is no security protection.
Review 4:Position, very close to Monte Carlo, my work destination. My north facing room was small but clean and comfortable.
Review 5:...despite The Bad. Retuned to our room first evening to find it completely empty. Not one of our possessions were there.Bar staff explained we were in a room for 4, they needed that room for 4 guests, so we were moved to a double room of tiny dimensions. They explained that they tried to phone (no-one home). In both rooms the wardrobe was impossible to use, the hanging rail way beyond our reach. In the 1st. room, no shower support, no shower curtain & placed inside a bath of bizarre proportions i.e. to small to use as a bath. In the second room the 'en-suite' door is a plastic folding door. Not comfortable. The Ugly.... both rooms had heavily marked walls, repainted with a similar colour. !st. room ceiling tiles hanging down & water stained ceilings. Broken over-bed light leaving bulb & wiring exposed. 2nd. room, no hot water from basin tap. Basin badly cracked. Mix match of shower tiles, again no shower support. Room with no natural daylight. window opened onto grotty factory wall A very depressing room. Management need to refurbish in a big way. Raid your piggy bank & stay elsewhere!
Review 6:Crisp,clean cotton sheets. Towels changed daily. Bed comfy. Housekeeping cleanliness superb despite......
Review 7:Breakfast was not included so was an additional cost to the room
Review 8:Communication was difficult because my French is very poor but when I had an unexpected problem an off duty staff member went way out of her way to help and resolved the situation even though it ruined her evening. The French showed they can be very caring when they recognize a person in trouble. I will always remember her selflessness.
Review 9:Considering you can get a travel lodge room for £60 which is 100 times better £79 is expensive for this room and the shower was more of a tub with no shower curtain and you had to hold the shower head yourself
Review 10:The cleanness of the room is not that is acceptable. We found dirt in the corners. The room we stayed needs paint. The shower in the bathroom is spread in every direction except where we wanted. The room was very small. Wifi is limited. If somone else use it you have to wait to use.
Review 11:The only advantage of the "hotel" is the location. It's very close to Monaco and the sea is also available by foot within 15 minutes.
Review 12:We didn't arrive early enough to get full enjoyment of the area. It's beautiful. don't get takeout coffee/tea in the am -- its a big price for very small quantity.
Review 13:nice room in hotel over restaurant on the main street with parking right next door. great food in the restaurant. Run by man from Australia.
Review 14:Location, hospitaltiy of John (Manager) and his staff, Olivier, the loveliest chaffeur on the planet, the restuarant recommended to us by John (can't recall the name, ask John the Manager as it was exceptional).
Review 15:Very central in Cap d'Ail; the accommodation is run by friendly people, it's fine, clean & affordable. We stayed due to visiting Eden @ Plage Mala; which is such a great place that we didn't want to leave so we left the car parked & enjoyed an evening of dinner & drinks at Eden. Made a last minute booking due to it being less than 10 mins walk from Plage Mala & had a good nights sleep.
Review 16:Brand new renovated property with easy parking. Close to Monaco with good rates and good food.
Review 17:Room was very small
Review 18:Very nice staff and very clean good value for money
Review 19:Breakfast not included - inflated rate for Monaco Boat Show is rude. Cramped bathroom
Review 20:clean good room
Review 21:Wifi sometimes did not work in rooms.
Review 22:The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Review 23:There is no parking. So you have to use the public parking
Review 24:Frindly stuff, good location,
Review 25:location
Review 26:Cleanliness and service Excellent location Value for money
Review 27:nothing
Review 28:four people and two big beds stuck in one little room for 100 Euros per night
Review 29:the room was clean
Review 30:Restaurant staff very good. rooms were tiny. WiFi doesn't work well.
Review 31:Dated rooms- needs Renovation! Room small for 4 people.
Review 32:Located in cute town. Beautiful beach, but a bit of a walk.
Review 33:room was very tired - needs refurbishment
Review 34:close to Monaco
Review 35:nice and helpful staff, close to Monaco
Review 36:The hotel is quite old and looks like never had a renovation - especially in the bathroom. The bed was so uncomfortable... The mattress was out of order. Our window was looking on the street, it was quite noisy.
Review 37:The hotel's location was very convenient - one could go climbing to La Turbie, swimming in the sea, get something to eat - grocery stores and restaurants just a few steps apart, go for a walk in Monte-Carlo, which is really in a walking distance from the hotel.
Review 38:The staff were aggressive, even hostile when asked for anything minor. Guests have to pay on arrival before even getting a key or seeing the room. The man who checked me in was more interested in tending bar than in helping me settle in. There were "no plugs" in the tiny, badly aired, depressing and spartan room. Bad beds, cubicle shower and no view, except for a wall and walkway. Paint work is old and showing signs of leaks on walls and ceilings. I was in room 8, which was a twin but I wouldn't recommend it for two sardines. The worst was the staff. When I asked for a triple plug so I could use my computer, my request was grumpily met and when I did manage to get the plug I was told in a gruff way: "You make sure you give this back tomorrow morning before leaving!" There appears to be no monitoring of the hotel, which has a separate entrance after 22.00h. I had four noisy, drunken and boisterous Italians carrying no next door until 1.30 am and smoking the hotel out, but there was no one to talk to. When I complained the next morning, I was told "there are signs up" and I got a shrug from the lady behind the counter. The insulation is non existent as I clearly heard teh insults shouted at me through the wall when I asked my neighbours to tone it down a bit. Thank God, I only stayed one night. I could not speak out strongly enough against this hotel and I don't think two stars are warranted for the facilities, never mind the diffident and rude staff. I think Booking.com should not put this hotel on offer and I will be very cautious about hotels on this site in the future. John Keating
Review 39:The location was fine, except quite a distance from the railway station. Being on a main road it was very noisy. Close to a good bus service (No. 100).
Review 40:It was impossible to get to the hotel from a railwail station, because it was too dark to walk with a lot of strange plants ,so we for the night to the different hotel;
Review 41:I had to haggle the price down (to 60 euros/night). I complainedre room(the first one was ensuite missing a toilet); ceiling had waterstains, just not very great; overall shabby; ancient furniture; tvalmost at ceiling height. No breakfast although I was paying fullprice......I Didn't like the atmosphere at all. I wouldn'tstay again.
Review 42:It was in cap d'ail where I needed to be.
Review 43:housekeeping lady kept knocking at the door and literally kicking me out to plean the room. The cleaning process normally would take her 3mins and the room remained as durty as it was before I even moved. Room was in a very poor condition, the hairdryer would not work. Food is like rubber paper and service is very slow. The first morning I was waiting for my omlet for 50 minutes... Majority of staff do not speak English and are quite abrupt.
Review 44:location was more or less
Review 45:Our AC dripped, so we had to pull the bed away from the wall (a minor inconvenience). It also made noise when set at a certain temperature, so we chose a different temperature. As reported, the window opened on to a back alley of sorts, but we weren't inside the room to look out (if we wanted to see out, we went out).
Review 46:I'm not sure what the negatives reviews were all about. People's expectations must have been set too way too high. This hotel was precisely what we presumed it would be -- a fine affordable alternative. We had no problems with the rooms or cleanliness and no issue with the matter-of-fact handling (the staff was busy with other things too). The hotel was within easy walking distance of the train station, the beach and right in the commercial mix of Cap d'Ail. As others have reported, the food in the restaurant was great.
Review 47:The room had a bad smell, because the bathroom doesn't have a door, it has more like a sliding door. we had breakfast included but it was the same every morning. The people who served us didn't speak english.
Review 48:I liked that the manager knew how to speak english and the hotel is placed in a strategic spot. The hotel is close to the railway station and it has a bus station just in front of it.
Review 49:- no real bath-tube - limited cleanness
Review 50:+ Free Shuttle-Service to Monaco in during summer + very beautiful stone-beach (but no sand) in the bay around the cap.
Review 51:If you're with huge/ heavy luggages, try not to get there by train. Take bus 100 instead. The Cap d'Ail train station is quite isolated, and the road to the hotel is just a winding upslope, of which some are pretty steep (note: no downslopes at all). It can be really tiring if you're not travelling light.
Review 52:The exterior of the hotel looks quaint and cute, just how I like it, at least. And yes the room is small and all, but extremely comfortable, with air-conditioning which could be needed in the hot hot hot summer. The service staff is very approachable and helpful, the owner is friendly as well. It is one of those small hotels that are not so commercialised and yucky. I don't know if it was just the position of my room, but contrary to what some other reviewers said, there was a strong wifi signal, which is always a relief. Also, it is true that there are no views from the room, but it does not really matter because the place is only a mere 10 minutes walk from the gorgeous plage mala, and to me, at least, it wasn't that important. The place is also extremely accessible, and the tourism office is only 60m away, super awesome to check out any events going on, or ask questions on how to get to the city (Nice/ Monaco).
Review 53:Beds were very small and the toilet was shared.
Review 54:Good location and the restaurant located in the hotel was very good. Also the free shuttke service which takes you to Monaco town was very good. Very good value for money in Monaco.
Review 55:No staff, No Appologies, No offer of a refund!
Review 56:Where do we begin. After a 4 hour road trip we arrived on a Sunday evening and had to collect our key from the neighboring pizzaria only to find that our room was not prepared (un-made beds with used bedding and filthy towels) - totally unacceptable!
Review 57:The room was just a room, nothing fancy at all.
Review 58:The room was clean and the water was hot, so it is good value. The airconditioning was amazing! The food at the hotel was very good. Perfectly located in terms of public transportation. Beach was energy sapping 10 minute walk away, but a good experience nonetheless.
Review 59:The room we were given was very poor, the window opened with a view of a wall, the wardrobe only had two hangers, two handles were missing from the wardrobe door/drawer.The shower did not have a hanging support.Overall the this hotel was not described very well.
Review 60:The bathroom water was allways hot.
Review 61:-No English. Only one of the personal can speak English, when he is notthere it is impossible to communicate. -If you are going mostly forMonaco then stay in Monaco. The bus is not reliable. They only drive inthe weekend after 22:00, otherwise you always have to go back early.-The breakfast. It is to expansive and you only get 1 small thing. -Remember this is mostly a restaurant. They have just some rooms andthose are be rented, but I did not had the feeling that I was stayingat a hotel.
Review 62:-For the price it is a okay hotel. -It is in the central of Capd'Ail so it is very close to the bus and you can walk to the trainstation. -If you are alone and only staying for the sleeping at thehotel it is okay. -The beds are good. -The food at the restaurant isgood (for the evening).- Good silence rooms.
Review 63:Old rooms
Review 64:Location,price,staff
Review 65:Nice familly alike hotel-restaurant. Public parking nearby. Clean room, and the personall was polite and friendly.
Review 66:Definitely, it did not worth 100 euros for 4 person room. The room looked like "abandoned".
Review 67:The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 68:location and bar were excellent!
Review 69:Helpfull Staff
