Reviews for Domaine Saint Clair - Le Donjon
Review 1:Absolutely no complaints!
Review 2:This was a wonderful place to stay. I felt like Harry Potter in the bed that I slept in. The room we had was artistic and luxuriously decorated. Over a very French breakfast with sumptuous food - patisseries and charcuterie - we could gaze over the village of Etretat.
Review 3:The room was crowded with a mish mash of objects. Bathroom needed an upgrade and I loath toilets with no wash basin. We ate in the hotel and i suspect they have aspirations fora Michelin star but the food was not great and odd combinations of flavours and food and a very expensive menu with little choice.
Review 4:The view. Some of the staff were helpful and professional.
Review 5:Anything.
Review 6:Everything is perfect, the hotel is very very beautiful and particular, the room is fantastic, restaurant dinner was amazing, and everyone who works there is friendly and kind!!
Review 7:Wifi in room was missing and only available in winter-garden area.
Review 8:We have loved the location of the Castle up the hill with a picturesque view of the Etretat bay from the breakfast table. Breakfast was exceptional and offered all the local products. Open Fireplace gave a warm welcome in the winter-garden area. Room was lovely and quite with a lot of African artefacts. Great place to relax after a busy week of working.
Review 9:Our room in general: the decor, the low light, the private entrance (which means: little door from the parking). The breakfast: very expensive, poor service
Review 10:The common parts, the position
Review 11:Bad room Dirty room Sat in bar for 20 mins...no one was there. Situated on hill but compared to other not close enough to sea
Review 12:Lady at desk was trying
Review 13:It is unusual not a chain hotel. The charm of the place is unique. very clever stylish design and great food with friendly and helpful staff. It is not cheap but worth it. We had business in the area but would return for a special treat another time. It is within walking distance of the seafront too. Well worth seeing .
Review 14:Sloppy service. Poor attention to detail. Ridiculously priced wine list. So-called special 'marche' menu which seemed to be mostly bought-in products with a few bits of vegetables and fruits added. Expensive breakfast.
Review 15:Nice setting and lovely room. Convenient location for the town centre and secure parking.
Review 16:none
Review 17:Great view, Friendly staff, themed room.
Review 18:Staff very pleasant, but our room was a former garden shed surrounded by rat traps and very dark
Review 19:Mr. Omar and entire staff was personable, accommodating and made us feel very much at home.
Review 20:Nothing
Review 21:Everything
Review 22:Wireless service in the room would have made our stay complete. Instead we had to email and browse from the common areas. But only a small inconvenience considering the charm of the hotel.
Review 23:Our room was beautifully decorated with wonderful silk drapery and silk upholstered walls. We were situated on a corner with views to the sea and to the superb rose garden. The staff could not have been kinder and more sympathetic to our needs. Wonderful dinner in the restaurant.
Review 24:The restaurant wasn't worth the price. The food is good, but not amazing, can be found elsewhere much cheaper
Review 25:Beautiful setting, absolutely spectacular
Review 26:The place is unbelievable magical and gorgeous. It is literally an old castle completely transformed with modern amenities. They have a beautiful glass enclosed area with orchids all over, comfortable couches and lounge area and a working real fire place. You can sit by the fire and they will bring you delicious french wine. The food for dinner there was expensive but delicious and definitely worth it at least one night. The breakfasts were wonderful, very complete with cheeses breads yogurts eggs and more. It is unbelivably romantic BUT also we found it very accomodating to us even though we had 2 young girls with us. I think we were the only one with a young family but they did not make us feel uncomfortable at all.. in fact they really took care of us . I also love that it is minutes from etratat but a bit outside the fray and on its own special quiet hill where you can overlook the town and the coast
Review 27:we loved the character of this slightly quirky hotel. It is well located a ten minute walk into town which makes it feel very tranquil and away from the hurly burly. Our room had its own hammam and a balcony with a lovely view of the sea in the distance through the trees. the restaurant had great character and the food was good if a bit expensive.
Review 28:It is expensive, but the experience is worth is Having slippers in the room would be nice
Review 29:Fantastic atmosphere, wonderful ambience, impeccable style. The property has its own authentic character and we were surprised to know that it was recreated from the ruins. The staff is just amazing, very friendly and responsive. The room was charming though it was a simple comfort room. Very nice music compilations playing in the room. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. Absolutely lovely black cat living in the hotel. The restaurant is outstanding and really worth visiting. We really do not get why it is just 3 stars - the quality of service and overall ambience overcomes some 5 star Dubai hotels.
Review 30:The breakfasts were of inconsistent standard and were overpriced. The decor of our room was uncomfortably orange , which made it very dark. A large function on one of the days disrupted our stay and made use of the swimming pool area difficult . The restaurant and the breakfast was affected by it very much. It was a bit of a walk up hill out of time to get there.
Review 31:The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and had good facilities. The restaurant was good though the menu did not change much day by day.
Review 32:I have been in hundreds of hotels in Ireland, England , Belgium and other countries, and this is not a hotel as I know them. no real reception area, no proper bar area for drinks, snacks or coffee, its more like a B&B. very little English spoken in the hotel or in the town of etretat. 95% of restaurants and cafes in the town had no English on there menus, its time for the French to cop on. very dissapointed
Review 33:the villa room we had was set in the gardens and was beautifully decorated
Review 34:The room was dusty, the towels old. During my trip I have stayed in three other hotels, from Relais & Chateaux, with an approximate value for the room. Their value for money were far superior. So, if you are used to nice hotels (not necessarily luxurious), you will be quite disappointed with Domain.
Review 35:The view is quite excellent and the hotel is cozy.
Review 36:We had our elderly parents with us. Disabled friendly features not present. Our bathroom involved descending a very steep cast iron circular staircase. Tthe water for the bath was not hot and the shower head had to be held in the hand. Not user friendly
Review 37:Location was first class, the historic building with its opportunities to relax in wonderful , well furnished rooms was most enjoyable. The food and wine were excellent but quite expensive. 15 Euros for G and T.
Review 38:Quite expensive. Although a nice location, the price of dinner and drinks is very expensive for an establishment like this. It is not a 5 star hotel. Also the dining experience is very stuffy and not in tune with the rest of the stay.
Review 39:Stylish and quirky decor.
Review 40:The room was wonderful - great views, beautifully furnished - quirky but sumptuous and the bathroom had all mod cons. The lounge and dining rooms were a delight to behold and the food was excellent. Perhaps there should be more than one resonably priced wine on the list.
Review 41:Everything, beauty, facilities, comfort.
Review 42:Friendly staff. Great location and facilities
Review 43:The reception staff were very unfriendly The food was overpriced and not that good The wine list is much too long
Review 44:The rstaurant staff were helpful
Review 45:the staff, terrible people. terrible service. Terrible room. DONT go there!!
Review 46:the location
Review 47:Seagull mess on car in car park.
Review 48:Friendly atmosphere. Walking distance of town centre and seafront.
Review 49:First room shown to was small and with lots of trip hazards.
Review 50:Beautiful decoration and laid back atmosphere.
Review 51:Tired. Far too expensive for what it is.
Review 52:The cat.
Review 53:Location
Review 54:limited view of the coast
Review 55:very elegant the garden and the room, dominant position, rich breakfast
Review 56:Would have liked a shower but my fault for not requesting one.
Review 57:Beautiful place. Fantastic restaurant.
