Reviews for Hotel Normandy
Review 1:No air con, just a desktop fan which wasn't very good as was very hot. Wifi in communal areas worked intermittently... Think if someone else was on it.
Review 2:Lovely place, good location. Compact room but nice view of sea and garden, high ceilings and big window with shutters made it feel more spacious. Really good breakfast or croissants, fresh fruit, bread, ham, cheese etc.
Review 3:No airconditioning and because of this I thought the room pricey ... Yes the owner is sharp but overall we found her friendly enough ..
Review 4:The view from our window was amazing
Review 5:Nothing.
Review 6:Michelle is a sweetheart a goes out of her way to ensure your comfort. We even had to check in later than expected and she arranged for the key to be available to us out of normal check in hours. We loved the big open windows, allowing for lots of fresh air! Her breakfast is lovely with great coffee. Cheap and cheerful! Always happy to stay here. Thank you Michelle.
Review 7:Refusal to accept half prepayment made 9 months in advance. Did not want us to park in unused allocated spaces. Only one usable socket in room for fan, hair dryer, laptop, & charging razor and mobiles.
Review 8:Close location to Monaco
Review 9:The walls are thin and we had someone next door knocking on their door for hours in the early morning, was really annoying. Two 3/4 beds pushed together instead of a double bed. Otherwise a lovely boutique type hotel.
Review 10:Very sweet owner, and hotel. Beautiful, big room with a stunning sea view. Very clean. Excellent coffee, and breakfast with fresh fruit. If you are coming from the train station prepare for a decent walk uphill to the hotel, if we had had lots of luggage we would have died (well i would have)
Review 11:I chose the hotel after the description on booking .com. It wrote seaview with terrace. In the room there was not aircondition, not even a fan. When we complained at the lady she was very unpolite, prefer rude. Absolutely not a hospitality professional. We had to pay for another airconditioned room extra 30 euros , where was the less temperature 27C despite of the aircondition! I felt set up our night was a nightmare, we never get wifi access after 8 pm not even a glass of water is possible in this hotel. My first bad experience with a hotel from Booking.com highly recommended to assast the hotel,
Review 12:Actually in this hotel nothing, even the atmosphere is really bad
Review 13:Beautiful views of Med towards Cap Ferrat. 40 mins walk to Monaco or bus just outside. Very helpful lady proprietor with excellent balcony to have ample continental breakfast. Room fine.
Review 14:If you are looking for a quirky different hotel that's in a great location and very handy for the local transport into Monte Carlo this is the place to stay. Excellent helpful owners
Review 15:No wifi at all, despite the hotel claiming there was wifi inpublic areasUnpleasant and unhelpful owner No refrigerator or minibar to store food or drinks
Review 16:The location is good as it is in the centre of Cap d'Ail. However, this is the only thing in its favour as the accommodation is very basic- there are other better choices nearby.
Review 17:The two parking spots were extremely hard to get to & into. Wouldn't let us leave the car while we went to Monaco for the morning. Said there was no problem with thievery to leave on the street. Wrong! We had all our suitcases (4) stolen. Thank you for that Madame.
Review 18:Central location.
Review 19:Don't rely on parking, there are only 2 spots down a very tight driveway, there is street parking but you need to get instructions prior. The room we had was awful. It was dark and very run down with a hideous painting. There is no aircon or fans and because the room was so low there was no air circulation. We slept with the window open but there were so many mosquitoes. The bathroom was not clean, in addition very run down. There was no room safe. One of the lights was broken, making the room even darker.
Review 20:Mala beach is within walking distance. There are a variety do restaurants close by
Review 21:The room we booked did not look as nice as on photos. 90 euro for room which was extremely small, dirty and did not smell good. We spent only 1 night here but definitely would not spend more! There was big problem to find a free parking place near the hotel (we were here in August).
Review 22:Close to the Monaco.
Review 23:No extra pillow Reception shut at 8 Hardley any toiletries except for soap bar Very basic amenities
Review 24:Location- close to Main Street and bus into Monaco. Easy access to one of the beaches
Review 25:It is expensive for 2 star hotel. Only two parking spaces, we were lucky.
Review 26:The artwork throughout the premises. The room was clean and facilities modern.
Review 27:We were 4 persons (1 child) with lots of luggage but no place to park the car near the hotel. Bedrooms were small downstairs the main entrance - looked like a basement.
Review 28:Location - one can reach easily the best beach in the area - Plage Mala
Review 29:owner had a mess in the documents, well I had my evidence of payment my bank transfer
Review 30:good location near the bus stop and public park car (bus no. 100 direction Monaco 5 minutes) Room small, modest but clean, nice breakfast, all adequate for the money its
Review 31:everything was okay, far from the sandy beach and nothing much to do in the city
Review 32:Value for money, view on the beach, large bathroom, balcony, free parking
Review 33:Wasn't allowed on terrace Uncaring staff Dirty small/rooms Misleading ocean view/terrace Unprepared staff/accounting
Review 34:Firm beds, hot water, good pressure
Review 35:Perfect location with romantic French spirit. By foot in 5 minutes you can be at plage Mala. It is also very near to Monaco and Nice by bus!
Review 36:Perfect spot for my purposes. Enjoyed talking to proprietor and family.
Review 37:Wifi wasn't great and no air conditioning in the hotel
Review 38:Great location, great welcome, gorgeous area.
Review 39:The noisy room
Review 40:The bathroom!
Review 41:Lovely place and really charming hosts!
Review 42:We paid for a 26 sqm room, but we only got the smaller (11 sqm). Not acceptable. No AC either.
Review 43:Good location.
Review 44:No air condition.
Review 45:Close to Monaco!
Review 46:Breakfast very basic. Even by French standards, coffee awful!
Review 47:Location close to Mala Beach
Review 48:Because it is an older building, noise insulation is not as sufficient as newer hotels.
Review 49:Close walking distance to The beach, restaurants, and Monaco.
Review 50:The receptionist, that I think that is the owner of the hotel, wasn't polite.
Review 51:On arrival the greeting un welcoming since we were late? When i say late it was only 20.00hrs?
Review 52:Good location Great views Very cosy
Review 53:Didnt have the room we booked. Very rude and unhelpful. No parking anywhere near. Dirty rooms - Insects squashed on walls
Review 54:After checking out i wanted to use the bathroom the lady in charge told me i had to pay extra unbelievable !!! After a 3 nights stay....
Review 55:everything
Review 56:nothing
Review 57:Excellent stay. Would like to come back! The staff was very helpful, the room clean and the breakfast tasty, a real french breakfast with croissant and crispy french bread. Regards Ragnhild, Olav and Teddy
Review 58:The woman running the hotel was extremely rude. The bath had mold growing on it, paint chipping and was not clean. The room looked a lot nicer in the pictures and much more spacious than it really was. Very musty smelling.
Review 59:The location was good with a lot of little cafes around and the sea a five minute walk.
Review 60:Normandy is not a hotel for everyone, or for all occations, but I simply loved my small week there mostly due to the friendlyness of the owner, breakfast staff and fellow guests creating an atmosphere where you feel more like in a home away from home, where interaction with other guests feels natural.
Review 61:This is not a hotel, it is a block away. Incredible on the French Riviera. No services, no nothing ... absolutely nothing. Small and dirty room. Cabinet without doors in the bathroom. Without air conditioning. Walls with signs of blood, dead insects, uncleaned .... is a mess, would have to be closed, not a hotel!! and a price of 90 € uros, is a scam, a fraud .... incredible that Boocking have this hotel on their relationship ... From now on I'll think much choice ...... It's a scam, a fraud, you have to close that hotel and who reports to the French Ministry with photographs taken.
Review 62:It is a lovely hotel. Its location is fantastic, just half an hour walkalong the beach to Monaco. The lady who runs it was most kind andhelpful. I loved the breakfast and the sea sight from my window. Thehotel has an artistically nostalgic touch which I found particularlyagreeable.
Review 63:Liked everything about the hotel, though there is no elevator if you have heavy bags. Only problem is buses were jammed, taxis not readily available. Parking not easy, yet really do need a car to get around. Cap D'Ail is located on the side of mountain, so there's a lot of walking. Side streets are steep but beautiful.
Review 64:We liked the originality of the hotel which is more like a B&B. It is basic, but clean and nicely situated. Lovely views from most of the rooms. Breakfast was fine and ample. The host and hostess were friendly and helpful; they are interested in art, design and fashion, having worked in these milieus. Very reasonably priced. Not a place for pampered (spoiled) older Americans but great for everyone else.
Review 65:Location Staff The view
Review 66:Nice friendly hotel, liked the art and the terrace for excellent breakfast.
Review 67:There is nothing that I did not like.
Review 68:I liked everything. I will recommend this hotel to everybody. Super cool!!!!
Review 69:this basically a B&B and the door is closed by early evening
