Reviews for Apartamentos Villa de Potes

Review 1:It was a little difficult for me to find the place, but that is quite common in this kind of villages...

Review 2:The person at the reception was very nice and helpful. The building is great, looking as an ancient house but very well kept and settled. The village is an excellent base to explore the beautiful surroundings.

Review 3:Apartment really needs more furniture for clothing storage. We (3) stayed for a week and had 2 drawers and 6 hangers between us (had to ask for more hangers as only 3 provided in the first instance).

Review 4:Excellent location in the centre of the village, walking distance to all amenities. Nice pool area although water was perishing cold.

Review 5:Excellent location near dining establishments, parking, and points of interest. Accommodations comfortable and spacious. Kitchen and washing machine excellent. Staff helpful and friendly.

Review 6:Parking is a problem if someone has walking difficulties.

Review 7:We were in apartment 2 with its own terrace. The location, although on a hill was perfect to wander into the lovely town. We did not use pool, but it was relaxing to sit by after a day out!

Review 8:Amazing location, very clean, very comfortable, great staff, lovely facilities - I was hugely impressed and will definitely be recommending and returning!

Review 9:If I had to find a fault I would say the main lounge chair/sofa bed was a bit worn out.

Review 10:The apartment is very close to the centre of town and had commanding views of the snow capped hills over town. The staff were friendly, the room and facilities excellent. Thoroughly recommended.

Review 11:Slightly slow wifi

Review 12:Great apartment set over two floors, right in the centre of potes in a lovely building. Had everything needed including a hob and washing machine. The hostess didn't speak amazing english, but was very friendly and it wasn't a problem.

Review 13:Some minor maintenance needs doing

Review 14:This apartment was very comfortable Over two floors it had lots of room and everything we needed. We travelled by bus and it was an easy 5 to 10 minute walk to the bus station and nearby supermarkets. In an historic building,it had great views over the mountains and a nice pool area (not used due to weather).

Review 15:Our apartment was very dark but the receptionist explained that it was the only room with twin beds which we requested. As two sisters, we would have settled for double bed and some natural light. Otherwise, could not fault this apartment. Thank you.

Review 16:Location and friendliness of staff

Review 17:Leaking radiators - towels were being used to soak up drips. Cooker hood not working and was not repaired during the 8 nights of our stay.

Review 18:The location in the area, and also within Potes itself. Nice old building with lots of character.

Review 19:Didn't feel like we got good service - reception was not usually staffed, and the room instructions were only in Spanish. Equipment in the kitchen was pretty limited - there wasn't even a bottle opener or wineglasses! Also, since half of the apartment is in the loft, the calculation of floor area is misleading. There was no wardrobe or chest of drawers in the main bedroom (just a blanket chest full of blankets, and two bedside cabinets with one small drawer each).

Review 20:The location is nice, and it's handy for all the facilities in town at Potes. The building is historic, and quite pretty.

Review 21:My main complaint is that the kitchen is kitted out in a very perfunctory manner, with only two smallish cups for coffee or tea, and only steel utensils for the supposedly non-stick pans -- non-stick no longer (I wonder why!?). The beds were very cheap. The art work is baffling: 19thC English fox-hunting scenes of very poor artistic quality, yet individually lighted, as if you were being asked to admire original Hogarths, or the like.

Review 22:The location was excellent, being just two or three minutes' walk to the centre, and very much in the older part of town. (Indeed, the main building of this place was a grand house of some antiquity, with a massive crest on the main outside wall.) We were staying in relatively low season, so the prices seemed excellent.

Review 23:The apartment smelt funny. Not sure if it was unfamiliar old stone building smell, unfamiliar cleaning product smell or scrubbed black ceiling mould smell... This was throughout, including in the bedroom, so getting to sleep wasn't very easy.

Review 24:Apartmentos Villa de Potes was just a short stroll from the labyrinth of lane ways that make up Potes village. Restaurantes, souvenir and artesanos stores were easily found nearby.

Review 25:Poorly equipped kitchenette: no toaster, no tea cups, no kettle (apparently it's a Spanish thing), no oven, no space. Only one two seater sofa for a 6persons appartment. Dim lighting everywhere apart from the bathroom.

Review 26:Location in the centre of the old town, space, tranquility.

Review 27:While the facilities are very good, ie washing machine, microwave, dishwasher, it would have helped to have some basic things, such as salt and pepper. The kitchen knives were not really very sharp, and I couldn't find a chopping board. These are very small criticisms - overall the place is excellent, and I would definitely recommend it.

Review 28:The location is great, with fantastic views and the villa is lovely. This is the second time I stayed here; the lady in charge doesn't speak too much English (I speak a little Spanish), but is very friendly and helpful, offering us a choice of 3 different rooms, all very nice. The place is very clean.

Review 29:Would have liked a toaster and kettle but they don't seem to provide them in Spain. Lights could have been a bit brighter.

Review 30:Spacious comfy apartment. Very helpful staff.

Review 31:The old English hunting prints -this isn't Melton mowbray

Review 32:Nice traditional style accommodation very close to the centre of this pleasant small town with all you need a short walk away

Review 33:Having stayed at Potes a number of times in various Hotels, I found the central location combined with the value for money made this the best in Town.

Review 34:A few niggles that I was aware of from previous reviews and some I wasn't. These things didn't spoil the stay in any way but a few additions would make the apartment better. 1) no mugs. We used small cereal bowls for our cuppa! 2) only 1 peg for washing so I bought a pack from the supermarket. 3) no hanging space, shelves, or draws in our bedroom. My partner piled his clothes on a chair and I lived out of my case. There was a wardrobe in my sons room but again no drawers/shelves. 4) in our apartment the bedrooms were in the eves so on one side of the bed you had to bend double to get in and out of bed. May cause a problem if you have a bad back. 5) no balcony which wasn't clear when booking. The pictures suggested all rooms had an outside space but maybe that was just the pictures they showed. It could be clearer as this was the one thing I was very disappointed with. It felt a bit cooped up having breakfast in the room. There were tables dotted around the outside space but not very practical to carry your food down 2 flights of stairs.. It looked like there were only a few ground floor rooms with a terrace so ask for one of these if this is important to you.

Review 35:Beautiful location for pottering around Potes and visiting the surrounding areas (if you have transport). The pool area was lovely although we only used it 1 day as we had lots of trips planned. Staff very friendly although no English spoken but we managed to communicate. Apartment was very clean and we had a washing machine which wasn't expected. We also had WiFi which was great for planning day trips (although we did find the tourist information office by accident on our last day!). Wifi also came in very handy for my teenage son as the TV only had Spanish stations. We were worried about parking after reading other reviews but had no problems parking a very short walk away. We did park right outside the apartments for unloading and loading the car. The views from our rooms, and Potes in general, are stunning.

Review 36:Room was very dark and we found we didn't want to spend time there. Sofa bed wasn't comfortable.

Review 37:The pool was wonderful, the views beautiful and the ease of walking into Potes. Staff were kind when you asked for something, though we didn't see them much.

Review 38:Kitchen not really suited/equipped for full self catering - fine for breakfasts though Parking hit and miss but good free parking near the supermarket

Review 39:Location, apartment, pool

Review 40:No cups! Not sure why, apartment was a little dark, though we were glad of the cool shade in high summer sun. We booked the apartment for 6 people; 2 adults , 4 kids and the sofa bed was a bit of a squeeze but we managed as we were only here for 4 nights.

Review 41:Great value, lovely pool and recliners with views of the mountains, simple apartment but comfortable, friendly and warm reception. Great drive through the mountains to get to Potes. Excellent base for exploring further into the Picos. Would recommend to family and friends

Review 42:The space was great considering the apartment is in the very heart of historical Potes. Lovely historic building in excellent state and very clean. Kitchen had all we needed. Spectacular views of Potes and surrounding mountains. Very friendly and forthcoming staff.

Review 43:Excellent central location in the nice village of Potes. We had a well equiped appartment with 2 bedrooms and great veranda. Good starting point for breathtaking walks in Picos de Europa and relaxing at the pool afterwards,

Review 44:Our apartment opened out onto road so no privacy and proved noisy. Very little soundproofing so felt like neighbours shared the apartment with us. The couches needed replacing, the toilet seat loose, the extractor fans did not work. No oven or grill which surprised me for a self catering apartment. The apartment was very dark with limited lighting. We had a two stop stay, our first week was 40% cheaper and the accommodation far far better. Not sure if all apartments were similar, most appeared to have small private areas to either sit out or hang wet towels etc, so could may have just been our apartment facing the road.

Review 45:The pool area was good, the kids loved it. The location was excellent for exploring the town, although parking proved a bit tricky at times. The hosts were friendly and accommodating, and the apartment clean. The surrounding area was spectacular lots to do and see

Review 46:tricky to find and load/unload. Not impossible though and plentiful free parking in field next to Lupo supermarket 5 mins walk away appeared safe on our visit.

Review 47:Good accommodation, swimming pool was great, central location in the heart of Potes which is a great base for the Picos. Good bars and restaurants within 2 min walk

Review 48:Few windows in the appartment and no real view of the surroundings. no wifi in the rooms. dark corridors, somewhat troublesome to park during high season

Review 49:location is superb, quiet. Good kitchen, good beds

Review 50:Beautifully decorated high quality duplex, excellent location and great friendly service.

Review 51:Location within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants.

Review 52:Gloomy twin room when asked for double. Nada English spoken.

Review 53:Location

Review 54:quality of the bed

Review 55:location

Review 56:Better lighting downstairs.

Review 57:Location and space.

Review 58:Nearness to all amenities in centre of town and in quiet situation

Review 59:Badly equipped kitchen, extractor fan not working and no effort made to repair it after we told management.

Review 60:Location, swimming pool

Review 61:Beautiful setting, great location and kids loved pool.

Review 62:wifi

Review 63:location and facilities especially the pool

Review 64:Nothing.

Review 65:Lovely apartment nicely decorated and with a handy pool area. Great location and free wi-fi. Good central location in Potes.

Review 66:Air conditioning would have been good

Review 67:Location of property

Review 68:The pool was a gem and the room overlooked it with nice trees.

Review 69:The room and facilities and the location

Review 70:The building has character and charm and - if the weather is warm enough - guests can also take a dip in the pool or relax in the gardens

Review 71:Good sized apartment for a couple, contains everything you need for a weeks stay including a washing machine.

Review 72:limited parking, limited kitchen

Review 73:Nice place, excellent location

Review 74:difficult to park nearby

Review 75:pool,, close to town centre restaurants

Review 76:firendly staff, great location and good facilities

Review 77:The reception/staff was extremely helpful, courteous even despite my poor ability to speak Spanish.

Review 78:Ambience, spacious, good pool.

Review 79:Beds were little old. Small livingroom/kitchen. Wifi only at the reception, which is only open if there is somebody, which was not a lot. Don't try to park there. Just drive a 150/200 meters up the road to Riano (N-621) park there and walk 50 meters down on the Calle

Review 80:Great that they gave us an appartment with our own terrace, so our children could play outsite. Friendly staff, great place to do some walks in the Liebana-valley. Relaxt

Review 81:Set in the charming village of Potes the location was great, staff very helpful and friendly, the swimming pool was really nice and the two bedroom apartment was lovely and had everything we needed.

Review 82:Nothing

Review 83:Low price (55€) for one night, perfect location, lovely staff, swimming pool (shared) and they even let us go in the pool after a long hike before we got on the bus even though we'd already checked out.

Review 84:kitchen in apartment not very well equipped. eg no cups or mugs available, not too much of a problem on our short stay ..

Review 85:location, comfort , space cleanliness. would recomend this place to anyone .very close to all amenaties, comfortable, clean.

Review 86:It has only one disadvantage: the walls are really thing and you hear everything that happens in other apartments.

Review 87:Almost everything: location, apartment, cleanness, air... It only could be more accessories in the kitchen.

Review 88:It would be hard to fault these appartments and the surrounding area.

Review 89:A really comfortable place to stay surrounded by stunning scenery of the Picos Mountains and the old town of Potes.Excellent value for money.

Review 90:Only one wardrobe in a 2 bed apartment and no draws- spent the week living out of a siutcase. The kitchen does not have a kettle, grill or oven. I was not too worried as I don;'t particularly want to cook on holiday, but a grill would have been useful.

Review 91:It was a very traditional set of apartments. Very clean. Small but pleasant pool

Review 92:It wasn't a major problem, but on the hotter days some air-conditioning or ceiling fans would have been nice. I think we may have been there in unusually hot weather, but we did feel it, especially at night.

Review 93:The apartment was very spacious - bedrooms a good size, as well as living room. In a very quiet part of BEAUTIFUL Potes, in a BEAUTIFUL old building. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Swimming pool never busy and always loungers available. View from our bedroom windows, and from the swimming pool, was MAGNIFICENT. We would definitely recommend and shall be returning.

Review 94:The swimming pool is clean and lovely to relax in in the evenings after a day walking. The staff were very friendly, didn't speak much English but put effort in to try. The apartment was large and very clean, comfortable etc. It's a downhill walk to the old town of Potes which is a lovely old Spanish town.

Review 95:Nothing, this is an excellent apartment hotel, certainly surpassed our expectations. We'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

Review 96:loved the understated traditional design, staff were very friendly and helpful (though little English spoken), apartment was clean, very spacious with amenities (a washing machine, we hadn't expected. Ideally located in a quiet street just above 'downtown' Potes.

Review 97:The kitchen was poorly equipped for an apartment. No kettle for tea and no mugs/cups. Few cooking utensils. No toaster.Very noisy outside but double glazing helped.

Review 98:Very nice, helpful and friendly staff. double glazed which shuts out noise, Very spacious. Pool to cool down in. Excellent central location for walking, bars, town etc.,

Review 99:Cold showers if taken late at night

Review 100:Very comfortable and friendly. Not much English spoken but we got by. Swimming pool great.Little kitchen a boon for breakfasts.

Review 101:Nowt. Get it booked.

Review 102:Very central. Beautiful setting and spotless apartments. We travelled with a young family and the owner couldn't have been more helpful

Review 103:The noise at night (baby beside us and the neybours above us). Thereforewe could not sleep and had to leave earlier than we planned

Review 104:The garden and the swimming pool

Review 105:Poor sound insulation from adjoining apartments. Very small. No kitchen table for kids to eat at. Tiny bath unsuitable for pregnant wife. Intermitant hot water.

Review 106:Good Location.

Review 107:Good location in centre of Potes (on hill) Apartment was spacious and interior was to a high standard. Attractive hacienda style building from the outside. Managress/owner was very helpful in helping to organise trip to Picos with other guests staying at the villa. Very pleased with this accommodation would stay there again and would not hesitate to reccomend ti to others.

Review 108:There was a problem with the hot water that meant we had to leave itrunning for ten minutes before anyone could have a shower. We had to getassistance on this because we obviously didn't know this from thebeginning, but the woman on reception was very helpful. We were stayingon the top floor which meant we had to carry cases up a couple offlights of stairs - this mightn't be ideal for everyone.

Review 109:Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, despite the fact that wespeak no Spanish at all! The woman at reception even rang the busstation to check out the bus timetable because we were going to betravelling on a public holiday. Potes is a beautiful little town, in agorgeous location. Lots of restaurants to choose from and some lovelyscenery to enjoy.

Review 110:The door of the hotel was close when we came. So we need to call to the hotel staff and wait for him. But it was at january, so I think there is not this problem at summer.

Review 111:Very nice place! 2 floors, very much place: big living room. The window in the roof at the bedroom with the view of stars :)

Review 112:the staff was rude, they need a course in customer services. the view from our room was to an old stone wall

Review 113:free wifi, internet access the price of the apartment was also good

Review 114:The employees. The staff. They left us alone in the whole hotel - (therewas no one staying there but us) apartments all the time. Several timesof the day , everyday and there was nobody there. Not very nice at alland on a sunday we had an emergency and there was no one in thereception all day. We have no manage ourselves. In our honeymoon! Wewere all alone with no one to help us. All the staff was gone! DespiteVilla de Potes being apartments aswell the minimun staff is required. Idon't recommend at all anyone to go there. And the staff were , at themost very rigid and cold with us. We came back a day earlier because ofthese treatment and lack of atention. Fortunatly, the owner made thediscount of the day that we didn't use.

Review 115:The apartments are cosy and really in the centre of Potes.

Review 116:These are apartments, so there is no cleaning services or replenishing of anything. You'll need to buy toilet paper, for example.

Review 117:Price, apartment size, staff friendliness.

Review 118:The pool was too cold to use (for me) no grill/oven was an issue, lack of TV channels. Very limited storage space for clothes meant mostly living out of a suitcase.

Review 119:the location was perfect being only a short distance from Potes centre but far enough away that the partying didnt cause too many problems. the privacy of being behind gates and the facility of our own outside table and chairs, brilliant.

Review 120:No complaints at all.Just a little thing to note about checking in. Check- in time is given as between 4-10 pm.However we had to wait until six pm for someone to check us in.Maybe it was because it was a Sunday?!

Review 121:The location was excellent.Close to centre of the town without being too noisy. The apartment was lovely, all mod cons and yet had great character.Would recommend it.

Review 122:The furnishings were looking a little tired but certainly adequate. Some more local information about the town and local information in English would have been helpful. Even the Office de Tourismo only had two leaflets in English- I suppose I need to learn Spanish!

Review 123:Very convenient to this lovely Spanish town. The apartment was adequate for all our needs and provided a pool to cool down in after a day of fabulous walking. Our apartment didn't have a terrace but many of the others did. The apartment was very clean and had all the essentials for a week away.

Review 124:Noise can be heard from the other rooms. The staff do not speak Englishand it would have helped if some of the written information wastranslated, but everything is only available in Spanish. WiFi onlyavailable close to reception area.

Review 125:Nice location, good beds and a nice pool area. Free parking is possible100-500 meters from the hotel

Review 126:No secure parking for my motorcycle, But I knew about that priorto booking.

Review 127:Very friendly staff, nice clean outdoor pool, clean accommodation, verygood location just a few meters away from the town centre.

Review 128:Problem with no English speaking (or printed instructions). Problem with finding somewhere to park the car (and this was off-peak) in April. Problem with walls being very thin and being woken at 03:15 by next-door neighbours. Problem with lots of steeply sloping cobbled paving (very slippy when wet) Problem with too many steps up to accomodation. Problem with slippy tiled floors within apartment (wife fell down last two stairs).

Review 129:Spacious accomodation. Close to centre (bars/cafes/shops etc).

Review 130:parking terrible

Review 131:Everything. Lovely spacious apartment. great town.

The Fine Print
