Reviews for Hôtel Du Golf
Review 1:Our one issue was the people congregating outside the back door to smoke. Whilst I appreciate that they are outside they did restrict access to the hotel and made it unavoidable to avoid unwanted smoke inhalation on exit and entrance. Ideally a smoking area should be provided away from the access.
Review 2:Excellent Breakfast and proximity to the slopes
Review 3:The corridors and exterior are in need of refurbishment. The resort itself was limited for family meals.
Review 4:Rooms very comfortable and clean. Staff really superb at check-in, restaurant and bar. I couldn't praise the staff enough as they really made the stay. Ski room arrangement excellent
Review 5:If you were bed and breakfast you were not able to use the restaurants. Petit Zinc outdoor restaurant was closed too!
Review 6:Warm, welcoming, lovely bar, great location.
Review 7:Confusion over whether to use Hotel du Golf or Hotel le Golf. Maybe you could make this clear when giving out the code.
Review 8:Had a most enjoyable stay. Very comfortable bed and lovely pillows and bath towels. Breakfast was excellent, although a bit of a 'bun fight' as you were so busy!
Review 9:Inconsistent wifi was difficult to connect to. Location and layout of spa resulted in little guest privacy, particularly when accessing the pool.
Review 10:Spa, ski/boot/luggage concierge and friendly, helpful staff made this an excellent place to stay. Breakfast selection was excellent.
Review 11:Eric Voyer is a real Manager! Welcoming people all day everywhere! Very helpfull, Just The perfect person in the perfect place! You are Lucky to have Eric with you!!
Review 12:We had a bad experience with the room cleaning. Out of three nights spent there, the room was not cleaned neithe on the second nor third day, although we had been out of the room from 9:30 to 16:30. The second evening, upon my call, a lady exchanged the towels; the third evening i discussed with a manager and the room was broadly cleaned. However, it it unacceptable for a hotel of that category not to have verified that the mistake would bot repeat.
Review 13:Quality of breakfast
Review 14:We have just returned from our holiday at the hotel (7 to 15 April). The food is poor, the same loud band plays the same music in the hotel bar seemingly every night and we found that consistently staff either did not know the answers to basic questions about the resort and made little effort to help to find the necessary information. They were either inadequately trained and/or not interested in customer service.
Review 15:Children are only able to use the pool in the morning. You also have to book in advance. When we stayed at the hotel it was full and we were unable to use the pool as it was fully booked. We stayed on B&B basis thinking if we didn't want to go out for diner one night we would be able to use the hotel restaurant. However, priority in the main restaurant is given to guests staying on a half board basis and we were not able eat in this restaurant at all. We were, however, able to book the fondue restaurant one night.
Review 16:The bar area is very welcoming with a lovely central roaring fire. Despite the fact the hotel was full we had no problem getting a seat. Skiing is very easy - you can get your skis from the shop in the hotel and store them in the hotel locker room. The slopes are just outside the back door of the hotel.
Review 17:Swimming pool is far too expensive (€15 per person per use) and it's ridiculous that kids under 15 can't use it. The rooms are tired, too small and have insufficient storage.
Review 18:Great location, good bar with live music every night, good buffet restaurant, friendly staff. The Ski storage is very handy.
Review 19:Staff officious and unhelpful, bound by petty rules. This applied to those at Reception, in the restaurants and in the SkiSet ski room (boot room boys, though, were cheerful and obliging).
Review 20:Location close to lifts. Almost ski-in/ski-out.
Review 21:Hotel du golf is a decayed glory of the past. charging that much for this is piurely scandalous. I ve travelled everywhere around the world and have stayed in some of the best luxury and boutique hotels. Hotel du golf deserves none of these appellation. The rooms and building are exactly the same as everywhere else les Arcs, which means you hear people walking the corridors and i actually was woken up in the middle of the night by a phone vibrating in the room next door!!... The Wifi was free but of extremly poor quality. Impossibpe to watch a youtube video, and 30mn to send an email with an 18MB attachment. There was only one socket for plugging electronic devices. and the staff wasnt friendly. Had to queue literally 10mn for check out though I had no extra... HORRIBLE PLACE THAT SHOULD GO OUT OF BUINESS
Review 22:the cleaning lady was friendly, but thats about it.
Review 23:- looks beautiful and spacy on the pictures but be warned of the reality - it really deserves only 3 stars :) - we got twin superior room (the best option offered at booking.com at this time) and it was just a typical hotel room (I was curious how other room types must look like) - double bed = two joined single beds - if you want the Mount Blanc view you should speak to them because otherwise you can get the room in the lower level and in another wing of the hotel :) - the corridors were quite complicated and they didn't look very clean - we felt like intruders at the reception desk (also the staff didn't speak english very well) - no free parking for hotel guests (it costed 85 euro for 7 days)
Review 24:- direct access to ski slopes (via ski rooms) - very good breakfast (large selection) - nice room service
Review 25:Reception staff are disinterested and rude. No shower in the room (only a bath). Food is over priced compared to local food. Room cleaning is awful - room wasn't cleaned 3 nights out of 7! Not able to check in until 4pm on arrival day, and our room wasn't ready until 5pm - no apology to explanation for delay. All spa facilities are extra charge, and not included in price of stay.
Review 26:Location is brilliant, right by the Chantel lift and near good restaurants. Ski storage is very safe and secure. Communal areas of hotel are very modern and tidy Breakfast is good variety, and restaurant staff are very helpful
Review 27:Truly exorbitant cost of Christmas eve buffet - 85 euros per person, served in Breakfast room and not even a bottle of wine on the table! Yes there were oysters and prawns etc but these were running out by the time the last diners arrived. We really anticipated a much more lavish evening.
Review 28:Excellent staff, good location, spa, warm rooms, good access to ski storage and slopes
Review 29:The food was a shocker! Poor choice at breakfast, no crepes for the kids or fresh omelettes. Drink machines were always out of order and the evening meals were worse still. Everything luke warm/cold, very bad choice and we all had a tummy upsets after eating there. Other guests also said the same. Avoid! No English channels on the TV either. Not even the BBC world news service. Although many French, German, Spanish channels.
Review 30:The location of the hotel is excellent for ski in ski out... And the view from the room across the valley was amazing.
Review 31:Room not ready until 4 o'clock despite very quiet hotel Had to leave room by 10 am would not give us a lift with our bags to a car park in les arcs Two of the three restaurants not open
Review 32:first, you can't park in front of the hotel. you must park somehow 800m away in a parking. so you need to offload your car and then put luggages in a shuttle.. and repeat it once more when in the hotel.. facilities to story skis and ski boots are far from the hotel, you need to go outside.. and, there are not at the same spot.. so everyday be ready to walk through corridors and stairs and queue twice to get skis and then boots. hotel itself is outdated with small rooms. staff at the reception unfriendly and not professional. they also don't tell you how the hotel works, for exp that they can arrange ski class ect.. overall, a very poor experience. we will never return, for sure
Review 33:nice director, who was trying his best.. but that's it
Review 34:Swimming pool is currently open to the public which made it pretty unappealing (packed full of screaming kids). The bed sheets don't fit the single beds properly so they don't stay on the beds which makes for an irritating nights' sleep.
Review 35:Great location, nice ambiance and decor etc. Staff v friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast pretty exhaustive.
Review 36:The first night that we had a reservation for was great. The second day we came back without a reservation because we liked the hotel and a young black-haired guy at the reception told us that he can not accomodate us because there are no more free rooms available. When we searched at booking.com we foung that Hotel Du Golf has still rooms available online. Nevertheless, after long time of insisting, we were refused to stay at the hotel, because even though he instantly changed his mind and 'they had available rooms, but they already had noone to clean them up for us, because the cleaning service has gone home' we left totally disgusted. Not just with that we had no accomodation, but also with the feeling that the personnel deliberately lied to us regarding the room availability of the hotel and refused to accomodate us based on a very 'cheesy' reason that noone could clean the room for us (for your reference - the hotel had around 1000 rooms in total ! ), and I wonder who is cleaning them now. Very bad experience
Review 37:Nothing at all
Review 38:Great accomodation with comfy beds and lovely bathroom. Excellent location and breakfast. The best ski hotel we have stayed in.
Review 39:Love Les Arcs 1800. Excellent resort! Conditions were amazing and the hotel and its staff were lovely. Great stay. Wish it could have been longer!
Review 40:Very helpful staff and clean, attractive amenities
Review 41:Spa area not worth 15 euros, shower in room not very good
Review 42:Staff friendly, Ski in Ski out, location
Review 43:Free breakfast
Review 44:small problem with booking - wanted room for 2A+1C and only got 2Adults, - but quickly resolved.
Review 45:The lounge bar, location, convenience of ski hire.
Review 46:Prices in hotel bar. No above head shower.
Review 47:Comfort of bed. Regular housekeeping. Location. Variety of choice at breakfast.
Review 48:Need shower screen
Review 49:Excellent wifi
Review 50:WiFi kept dropping out room a bit small for 3 people & expensively priced
Review 51:Location
Review 52:Bar prices where rather expensive.
Review 53:Great location, fab breakfast, well organised ski room
Review 54:Nothing
Review 55:Fantastic location, super bedroom and the most amazing buffet breakfasts.
Review 56:Location to the slopes couldn't be bettered
Review 57:5th visit, says it all really. Friendly staff and great location for access to some fantastic skiing, restaurants and Chez BouBou...!
Review 58:Impersonal, large hotel.
Review 59:Location. Breakfast.
Review 60:Nice selection at breakfast helpful staff
Review 61:Distance from room to facilities.
Review 62:Location, heated boot warmers, ski lockers, breakfast.
Review 63:Bit dated
Review 64:Breakfast was excellent
Review 65:Rooms style is a bit ugly. Need improvement.
Review 66:35 Euros to have the bar fridge turned on No knowledge of the area from reception at check in
Review 67:No shower, just a hand held shower head. Ski room for skiset customers only.
Review 68:Breakfast, clean rooms, close to ski lifts, close to restaurants and bars.
Review 69:Great location at the foot of the slopes and close to après ski bars and restaurants. Buffet breakfast was excellent, the perfect start to a day on the slopes. Didn't use the hotel bar, it looked pretty cool but not as lively as the bars in the village. Ski concierge service with skiset worked well. A great hotel, would definitely go back.
Review 70:That you must pay for facilities like the pool, when it is part if the hotel and should thus be included in the price of the room
Review 71:Location, facilities, ambience, cleanliness
Review 72:Staff were generally unhelpful, car parks were a real pain to get to and you were charged extra to use the hotel spa which seemed a bit of a con.
Review 73:Excellent breakfast and nice rooms. Really easy to get on to ski lifts
Review 74:The new system in the ski locker room - don't like the concierge system as it is currently - many, many people waiting at key times of the day - lot of confusion and frustrated people.
Review 75:Location to slopes is great.
Review 76:My booking was cancelled a month before the trip. After lengthy negotiations, we managed to get them to let us stay for our first 2 nights, moved us to another hotel for the next two nights and moved us back to stay for the last 2 nights. They also gave us a bottle of wine, a box of biscuits, a Chinese New Year card and a free dessert at our last night.
Review 77:Under 16s not permitted in pool despite being advertised as okay for over 6s. The staff in the ski shop and restuarants could be both unhelpful and discourteous Dribks in bar very expensive (large beer 8 euros) so we ended up enjoying apres ski elsewhere, whereas, had it been 5/6 Euros, we'd have been happy to remain in the hotel much more often.
Review 78:Great location 2mins from various lifts In-House ski hire and ski concierge service was excellent Comfortable bar with live music was great Friendly and efficent bar staff The terrace was lovely for post-ski crepes and drinks in the sun although it closed promptly at 4.30pm
Review 79:What is actually a 2 person room is sold as three person room Too many children Parking facilities limited
Review 80:Location is unbeatable. Breakfast is good and plentiful Skistorage facilities are good
Review 81:The pictures of the rooms online did not reflect the rooms in real life. Our room was not very clean. The closet parking was at least 400m away, and when we asked the front desk was there some where we could pull up to drop the bags off we were told no. The value for our money was not even close to what we expected.
Review 82:I loved how close it was to the lifts. The 1800 area had good bars and places to eat. Breakfast was amazing at the hotel.
Review 83:The staff is terrible. Be carefully in MontBlanc restaurant: they have stolen our adapter from iPhone... The facilities (sauna) didn't satisfy us also. So I don't recommend to visit it.
Review 84:The location is nice, only a few steps from the cablecars.
Review 85:Stayed over New Year in a supposed triple room when actually it was a twin room with an additional bed squeezed in. This left no more than half a meter between each bed - not really ideal for a group of friends. Value for money extremely poor even taking into consideration typical New Year price hike. Wireless internet very slow at times. If you came to breakfast 30-45 minutes before the end then certain things like eggs, bacon and pastries were no longer replenished and available.
Review 86:- Location - Friendly staff with good level of English - Breakfast ok - Room cleaned every day
Review 87:Attitude of the lady behind the counter was awful. My sons stayed in Les Arcs in a rented chalet, and wanted to extend their stay for a day, so I rented this hotel room for them. She was not willing to use the hotel bus to pick their luggage up 1 mile from the hotel. As there are no taxi's in Les Arcs, they had to drag their luggage through the snow. Their are plenty of other hotels in Les Arc 1800, avoid this one!
Review 88:Cleaning was not excellent but acceptable.
Review 89:Nice room with beautiful view, direct access to slopes, ski storage, tasty breakfast, friendly personnel. Spa area with hammam and swimmingpool. Fre hot wine after skiing. Entertainment on big holidays.Everything was very good.
Review 90:Tha staff and hotel are not very helpfull, you have to pay for the spa which only has 1 changing room and a hot tub that fits 4 people at a squeeze, the bathrooms only have a bath which is not very big, but does have a shower head so you can wash yourself down
Review 91:Good location, comfy beds and good breakfast
Review 92:Cleaners in every day - didn't need doing. Rooms could be cleanedtwice a week and that would be fine, would rather pay less for a roomand have it cleaned less often. Also, need an attachment for the shower so that you don't have to hold it to shower. There is already an attachment holding it to the wall but it is too low down. Wern't provided with much infomation on check-in by the staff. Barely even told where the room was. Finally, would've been nice to be able to use the pool/sauna without having to pay.
Review 93:Room was comfortable, and clean.Hotel was in a fantastic location - ski in/ski out. Breakfast was very good.
Review 94:The bar prices are quite high but this is fairly typical of many hotels. The range of food choices at the buffet and Petit Zinc is good but the quality of some dishes can be variable and often are not very hot.
Review 95:All the staff were very friendly. Although it's not something I expect, it is helpful that the staff speak English. The rooms, cleaning and bathroom are a good standard. The boot room exits right next to the slopes.
Review 96:old structure a bit abandoned, not too clean, small spa(just for 25 people) and they have hundred's of people staying there!?,ski room is too far and it is like labyrinth(the whole structure is made in thic chaotic way...
Review 97:not too many thing's... the kitchen was o.k,and this is the most positive impression
Review 98:Hotel heavily advertised the spa and other leisure facilities but spa was not free to use for residents and required pre booking.
Review 99:Staff were excellent - very helpful. Also good changing, ski lockers and luggage storage facilities. Having the ski hire shop within the hotel was very convenient
Review 100:The fire alarm that went off at 5.45 in the morning!
Review 101:It is pretty much a ski in, ski out hotel. Very short walk (across thepath) from the slopes to the locker room. The staff were very helpful. In particular we have to mention Eric who made us feel very welcomeand special.
Review 102:Weird hotel layout (sloping floors as opposed to lifts) and the bathrooms are poor with no shower and baths that take an eternity to run.
Review 103:Location was perfect and breakfast very good. The bar in the evening is probably the best place to be in 1800.
Review 104:Hotel needs updating - very '70's . It is not possible to drive to the hotel - You have to try to find hotel on foot and then organise a lift to the car park (if you can find a spot) to collect bags / skis , then same on leaving. The whole set up (les Arcs) seems unnecessarily complicated
Review 105:doorstep skiing
Review 106:This time we were not allowed to bring our car in to load up on our return journey. Loading a car on a busy road having had our bags dropped on the tarmac was not a good experience. It was dangerous due to my children and very un professional, we felt very exposed. This may result in us not using the hotel again a safer and more service based option is required.
Review 107:This is our fourth visit to this venue and it is very easy to get around plus the slopes are great for all levels of skiing.
Review 108:it was all good
Review 109:staff and hotel were great. Just came back from 5 day ski trip with friends. Location for shops and bars is great and access for slopes is so easy ski in/out. Breakfast is great with big selection. Buffet in the evening is good but wouldn't suggest fondue, not value for money. The Italian was really slow service but food was good when it came. The bar serves great cocktails and has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Review 110:very noisy - so much you couldnt sleep at all on a night! Staff attitude was poor and service levels low if you want to sleep dont stay here!
Review 111:bar area was cosy and good atmosphere
Review 112:Spa was dirty & extremely overbooked. Restaurants needed to bebooked in advance which we weren't informed of
Review 113:Excellent location & friendly staff
Ohne Aussicht.
Review 115:Die Lage des Hotels ist einzigartig. Direkt an den Pisten.
Review 116:No tea or coffee making facilities in the room, electrical sockets hanging loose from the wall, see through glass door/partition into bathroom from room so lack of privacy.
Review 117:Pleasant rooms, friendly staff, very clean.
Review 118:could have done with a fitting to enable a stand up shower in the bath - but we managed ok.
Review 119:The staff were smart, well informed, keen to be of help at all times, went out of their way to be of help and the room was well appointed. Each day the room was serviced and the bathroom in particular was sparkling. We went to spend a week skiing, which we did, and enjoy more because of the location of the facilities of the hotel - well designed - well equipped - well maintained! We had good breakfasts and whilst we ate out a couple of evenings the piano bar and the live music were a particular favorite of ours.
Review 120:room very nice and breakfast excellent. was not very impressed with dinner menu so did not eat at the hotel. very friendly staff and very dog friendly . we loved the location for walking in the alps and will return for skiing. the only bad experience we would say was as we turned off the road the appearance of the hotel is poor and signage not very clear.
Review 121:The floor of my car hit the ground when i wanted to drive to the 2nd floor. I hope i dont have any dammage. Garage is far from the hotel.
Review 122:Nice rooms,great breakfast.
Review 123:Rooms were minute, they did not resemble pictures on website, carpetswere filthy, furniture looked like it belonged in a prison cell andbathroom was pure 1970s. No internet in rooms despite being advertised, extortionate additional fee to use tiny pool. Reception staff going outof their way to be unhelpful - not responding to requests or showing anyflexibility.
Review 124:The only positive about the hotel was its location next to the slopes
Review 125:All the time I felt guilty for not speaking French - kind of discrimination was in place. Standard triple room was too little for 3 people. One of us had to sleep along wide window and got cold after the 1st night.
Review 126:Good location - close to nice slopes and lifts to 2,600m peak. Fresh food for breakfast. Supermarket and ski rental are nearby. Ski rental offers 15% discount for those who stay in the hotel - results in quite sizeable economy. Free wi-fi right in the room was a great advantage!
Review 127:Wifi wasnt working in hotel during our stay which was a little annoying,oh and they charged me 10 euros per day for 1 bathrobe.
Review 128:The staff were very helpful, location right next to ski slopes, lifts, ski school, shops & restaurants. Breakfast was good and so the eveningbuffet restaurant. Spa, pool and sauna rooms quite small but did itsjob, If you want to try other 2 restaurants you need to book at least acouple of days in advance.
Review 129:The locker room is rather small and very squashed. The lockers themselves barely take 2 sets of boots and the corridors are very narrow for the number of lockers.
Review 130:Great location, friendly and helpful staff. good food and access to the slopes is also quick and easy.
Review 131:Located right on the slopes, ski in / out. Staff were so friendly andhelpful, especially in the dinning room and at reception.
Review 132:Its location in Les Arcs 1800 suited as the Ski Club of gb have a SkiLeader in Les Arcs 1800, Hotel du Golf was located 50m from the meetingplace. Les Arcs 1800 only about 2.5 hrs transfer time from Geneva.
