Reviews for dp Cristal
Review 1:Bed bugs! We spent 18 days on the Camino and another 2 weeks in Europe and this was the only place we came across them. Room looked clean as did bedspreads however as soon as we all went to bed the bites and scratching started. When we pulled back the covers the evidence was there. Very obvious sheets had not been changed for a while also. By morning we were all covered in red bites marks. A shame as on first impressions the beds are immaculately made up. No excuse for this. Bed bugs were the reason we avoided the alburges.
Review 2:Spacious triple room with large bathroom. Nice breakfast.
Review 3:We booked a double room and received a single with double bed. OK but it took several requests to get extra towel. We were very tired after a long Camino day. Ordered the Menu del Dia but were so rudely treated by the waiter we left. Our room was close to kitchen exhaust pipe, so when we opened the window to let in some fresh air, we felt like we were sleeping in a chip shop. If you are on the Camino this hotel is at the beginning of town and involves a hike through town the next morning.
Review 4:We liked leaving this hotel to get back on the Camino trail.
Review 5:Nothing, i loved the place!
Review 6:Staff are amazing, they do laundry in couple of hours (I was walking the El Camino) and restaurant is great - can't say enough about the staff!
Review 7:The staff didn't stamp out credential and we needed that stamp... And we didn't notice.... The room back Ed on to the evator we paid way too much for what we got... Would not recommend...
Review 8:Staff harried, noisy street, and categorically the worst meal ever in the restaurant. There are no other dinner places nearby. It was quite expensive for what you got and there was no heat in the room
Review 9:Good location for daytime activities. The room and bath were clean enough.
Review 10:the shower could be a little bigger but this is only a very minor comment...
Review 11:We really enjoyed our visit to Sarria and a large part of this was due to our stay here. Thank you to the team and we found this hotel very good value for money.
Review 12:Car parked under cover but we had to keep getting garage door opener every time we wanted to go to the car. Not a major problem tho . No one could get our fancy shower to work !!!!
Review 13:Great location right near the Camino walk. Staff lovely.
Review 14:We were on The Camino, stayed at Cristal for a night. Restaurant: Tasty dinner, reasonably priced, friendly staff. For those on 'The Camino' Hostal Cristal is an excellent location. The triple room was spacious and for a night, sufficient. 'El camino' passes right in front of the restaurant. Would return. Sarria a pretty town with character.
Review 15:I was stuck in my room when trying to leave early. I couldn't unlock the door from the inside for a very long time. The lock didn't use the key. I phoned but got voicemail though they were open. Also on arriving I had to get help with opening the door. The staff were uninterested when I tried to explain on leaving. It was disturbing.
Review 16:Location
Review 17:Very busy cafe downstairs. We were moved to a twin room at our request, but it was small with a peculiar layout. The bathroom was down the hall. The shower was very small.
Review 18:beds were comfortable, food in the cafe was good.
Review 19:There was only one bathroom for the entire fourth floor. People were over and back slamming doors all night.
Review 20:The place was clean though. Food in the restaurant was pretty good even if one poor waiter was run off his feet!
Review 21:The location was great. I took the train in to meet my kids who were already on the Camino. It was very easy for all of us to find. The staff went out of their way to be helpful with every request.
Review 22:i was meeting my kids who have been on the Camino. The hotel was a straight walk down the Main Street from the train station and close to the entrance to town on the Camino. I was by myself for the first night after two long days of travel. The staff couldn't have been nicer to help in any way, and I had a nice dinner in their restaurant. The room was clean with a nice bathroom, and they provide a laundry service.
Review 23:A mini circus had set up near the hotel and we heard merry round noises till very late!!
Review 24:The staff were so helpful and friendly. The manager went out of his way to lend us not one but two phone chargers specific to spain.Staff spoke good english also.
Review 25:Noisey at night, poor acoustic insulation. I woke past midnight to hear somebody take a shower in the shared showroom next door- initially I thought they might be in my room.
Review 26:Staff really friendly and helpful with a "can do" attitude. The location is good. The "fixed priced menu of the day" at 9.50 euros was very good and great value. Overall a good experience.
Review 27:Nothing bad to say about this place, only that it needs a bigger sign. To find it.
Review 28:The location is just right on the start of the Camino if you are starting in Sarria. It looks so much better than the pictures on Booking. Great price and super clean confi beds and good breakfast for 5€ or so.
Review 29:It was more of a basic accommodation then we expected. In comparison to the other hotels at which we stayed, this was not up to their scale.
Review 30:Good location on the Camino.
Review 31:Very noisy from street outside and had requested a quiet room.
Review 32:Room was clean. The hotel sent us email re taxi from airport which they booked. This was helpful.
Review 33:The hotel staff was not friendly or helpful. If you are expecting service in a service industry, don't look for it here.

Review 37:The staff go out of their way to welcome guests and help them in every way. We were welcomed at our taxi and helped with our bags. Every question was answered in a cheerful manner. The food in the restaurant was just lovely and every taste was catered for in the buffet breakfast.
Review 38:We were travelling as part of a cycling group and the owner was very unhelpful with cycle storage. There also seemed to have been a mix-up about reservations/ bookings which led to problems.
Review 39:Reasonably convenient and cheap for Camino
Review 40:Nothing to fault it
Review 41:Well situated for Camino walkers. Very friendly, welcoming & helpful staff. Good quality food. It was our last night of Camino for this trip. Really enjoyed our night spent here. Hope to stay here again when we start our next leg of Camino.
Review 42:I liked the vibe of this place. They have a wonderful balcony where one can sip a glass of wine. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. He told me where the best fresh food market was located and that was much appreciated.
Review 43:The property was in the outskirts of town and so walking into the central was some distance when we had a day of walking behind us on the Camino. Also the walls did not hide average noise from the room next door. We were very aware of our own noise for others when we rose early.
Review 44:The staff were friendly and our room very adequate and clean. The hotel was easily located direct on the Camino coming into town. The food at the restaurant was good both for dinner and breakfast.
Review 45:Food portions were overly generous.
