Reviews for GPRO Valparaiso Palace & Spa
Review 1:The door in balcony was broken,in reception the didn't help us. Not to fix it, or to give us other room....hotel was empty! Pool in SPA was dirty.
Review 2:Amazing view,good breakfast,environment.
Review 3:Maintenance required on parts of the spa pools and the herbarium. Apart from that, all was fantastic.
Review 4:It's a quiet time of year, everyone is attentive, the facilities can be enjoyed to the full. Room service is prompt, quality good and value excellent. Great location and views
Review 5:Food overpriced overall. Breakfast good but not worth 28 Euros. Hotel being renovated with construction noise the floor beneath our room. We were moved to a different floor which underwent a deep clean with cables and furniture everywhere on the last day. The hotel did not inform us in advance about these issues. The hotel is faded and in need of updating.
Review 6:Lovely spa with excellent facilities Nice garden and views
Review 7:Dinner in the hotel was big disappointment - poorly prepared, poorly cooked, & poorly presented at the table. In contrast, the breakfast buffet was quite superb
Review 8:The unwillingness of pool staff or any other hotel employee to make any attempt to drain rain saturated poolside sun beds after thunderstorms, leaving it to guests to find ways of drying the thick mattresses.
Review 9:The facilities, the friendliness, help of staff and quality of accommodtion. Three large swimming pools (two outdoors) and a well equipped gym and spa (although the sauna did not work)
Review 10:Main restaurant maître d'hôtel was rude and claimed all 20+ tables next to window were booked, and refused to book one for the following day. The food choice in the main restaurant is not good anyway, so we never ate their. Some reception staff unhelpful. We were promised a room on a higher floor by one reception staff, and returned after 4 hours to be told they never heard of that. No apology for our 4 hour wait. We did not care much about the actual room as much as the lack of apology for time wasted.
Review 11:Excellent Bistro Staff (especially Juan Antonio) who made us feel at home. Excellent Food. Most reception staff very good and helpful. Rooms cleaned once a day and toilet and towels sorted twice a day. Plenty of room in seawater pools .. therefore always a place to use. Lots of parking space.
Review 12:The reception staff have an attitude. Very cold and in my case Rude! Tried to contact the hotel and make a specific complain, never got an answer back from them!
Review 13:The hotel is awesome! I liked everything: fabulous breakfast, amazing spa, beautiful rooms, great restaurant, lovely pools!
Review 14:Reception staff not so welcoming, generally quite a lack of information on facilities in the hotel, no room booklet, poor info on hotel TV
Review 15:Very nice view of Palma Bay, great outdoor pool area, good spa, rich breakfast
Review 16:Fantastic staff who treat you so well and always welcome you back with the friendliest greeting. Lovely clean and well appointed rooms with plenty of space. Nice bar and great breakfast.
Review 17:We paid extra for sea view and got the back side of the hotel. If this is considered "sea view" all hotel rooms should be considered as rooms with sea view. I soo much regret we did not complain, however, was exhausted from getting up at 5, traveling with our 9 months old etc. Also they were NOT flexible with check in so we had to wait several hours to get our room and in the other end they would not give us late check out. The breakfast was ridiculously expensive and there was NO alternative. 28 EUR per person The hotel is quite isolated, however, does not have a small shop were you can buy eg a bottle of water Location was not good at all. You can easily walk into the centre and back (8km app) and also with a stroller like we did. However the first 2km are quite boring with the harbour. The room did not even have tea, Nescafé or similar so you could make a cup at night. Have never tried 5 stars where this was not mandatory Rooms were not that nice. Old carpet and furniture. Bathroom was okay, however, empty boxes for eg sewing kit, soap etc was there when we came nicely put as if they were full. Why leave them empty that gives an even worse impression than if there was nothing
Review 18:Staff very friendly, lovely pool and spa
Review 19:Nothing!
Review 20:The Grand Lobby. The location, 10 minutes wall to thé Mallorca & thé spectacular sea view overlooking the Cathedral and the city of PDM! The staff, the best welcome! The salty pool, the best I have been so far! The pool lifesaver, very polite and helpful. The restaurant with live music. The Room with sea view and its crispy linens and towels. The n'est spa ever! Piña Colada (sin alcool) at the pool bar. The complimentary bottle of champagne and cake for my daughter's birthday. The small amount to add for very late check out. The chambre maid, she changes the towels twice a day.
Review 21:Though it is close to the Porto pi mall, it is far from central Palma - so take a taxi or a 35/40 min walk
Review 22:Great facilities! The spa area is excellent and the pools are lovely Very good breakfast Rooms are large, very clean and comfortable
Review 23:Air conditioning was less effective. Location was off.
Review 24:Room size, hotel Spa, pool section and steam and sauna rooms. We enjoyed the dinner and staff took extra effort in accommodating our preferences for veg food
Review 25:Too many little children by the pool with parents who paid little or no attention to them. Restaurant in evenings was very expensive. Cheaper to get a cab into the town centre and back and eat there
Review 26:Friendly staff, food at breakfast was brilliant. Lots of choice for everyone. I am gluten free and the staff made me special rolls, muffins and pastries every morning to ensure I also had a selection.
Review 27:Beautiful pool and garden areas, plenty of sunbeds with sun or shade. Fabulous breakfast and overall facilities are good. The rooms are fine but more a four star standard. Poor toiletries so take your own, no tea/coffee facilities, offered a kettle but nothing else.
Review 28:WiFi although free wasn't very reliable in the rooms - had to go toreception area for good signal. No system for pool towels meant theusual ignorant people would try to reserve pool sun loungers pre 9am andnot turn up until 11-12-and even 1pm !! Mainly british peopleunfortunately. Rooms whilst spacious don't have many drawers - sofor short business stays ok - but for one week or more - not enoughstorage space for clothes. No Tea / Coffee facilities in the room!!! Irons only available upon request.
Review 29:Staff very Friendly Great Breakfast and excellent choice. Nice pools andgardens - with good views. Spacious Rooms Easy 1.5 Euro bus ride intoPalma every 20 mins and easy access by Taxi for 6-8 Euros.
Review 30:I felt the hotel was a bit dated in parts and over priced. The food we had at the hotel was not great. Some of the staff were not very friendly.
Review 31:The spa was very nice.Bathrooms were nice.
Review 32:Offered a free kettle but had to pay 3 euros for cups as they didn'tprovide them. Poolside staff miserable.
Review 33:Reception & housekeeping Staff & pool
Review 34:Some of the staff were quite rude and looked at us as more of an inconvenience when having 2 young children (3 year old / 8 month old) Food was quite expensive for what it was and some of the quality was not to the standard I would have expected given prices Travel down to harbour was very long and up a steep hill so location not brilliant for taking a gentle stroll into town
Review 35:Fantastic breakfast buffet and some staff more than willing to meet dietary requirements Great pools and facilities throughout the hotel.
Review 36:Potentially a lack of sunbed's at height of summer, we didn't suffer from this but did notice that people turning up at poolside post lunch found all to be taken so would imagine could be an issue in August.
Review 37:Quality of finishes throughout the hotel are impressive and there is a relax feeling throughout all areas. The outside pools are superb and there is the added bonus of an excellent indoor/outdoor spa facility. We found the food to be extremely well presented and we ate at all of the restaurants on offer. Very comfortable bedrooms indeed, we had 2x deluxe doubles on the 5th floor overlooking the sea.
Review 38:Location isn't the best but this place is so good price wise that one can afford a few taxis
Review 39:This is an excellent hotel for bargain prices .excellent food lovely leisure facilities . Five star hotel at 3.5 star prices
Review 40:Friendly staff .good food would have liked an upper floor room with sea views. Maybe next time will certainly be returning to one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in
Review 41:Guests shouldn't be able to put towels on Sunbeds to reserve them and then not come and use them until later in the day!!
Review 42:Great food, pool and space. Great views from front of hotel.
Review 43:The beds were quite uncomfortable and the lifts took too long to arrive at your floor
Review 44:Terrific location to quickly get into the centre of Palma, friendly front desk staff
Review 45:quality of sleep average, sea/salty water in the swimming pool
Review 46:spa area, great breakfast (worth the price), staff very helpfull, very clean hotel, nice swimming pools, nice rooms but the best choice is full sea view,
Review 47:Most of the staff is useless, especially in the reception. My husband and I had our daughter with us and she`s less than 2 years old, we had 2 check in bags and her trolley plus her changing bag and absolutely no one in the lobby even bothered to offer us help with our luggages and the hotel got a staircase in the front! We had to circle around with all our things to use the side ramp. And that happened when we were arriving and when we were leaving, they never offered help although the staff was around!! Plenty of them! The location is not that best but it costs less than 10 euros to go to the main area. The gym is quite old and they don`t keep the air air-conditioner on for some reason beyond my comprehension and everybody else who tried to use it.
Review 48:The breakfast is great. The facilities are quite good. Very clean hotel. Spacious room. Spa offers a great amount of services. The swim pools in both spa and outside area are well maintained. Wifi works very well all over the hotel and it is open.
Review 49:No bad experiences but disapointedwith Hotel location uphill from every where.Taxis all the time.l
Review 50:The breakfast buffet was very good. English newspapers provided nice surprise,
Review 51:I love this hotel. The rooms are lovely, the spa is phenomenal. The bistro service is very pleasant and the price is fine. The breakfast, although expensive, is also fantastic.
Review 52:The only public place to sit (apart from reception) was in the Bistro bar/restaurant, was nice but a separate comfortable room would have been good.
Review 53:Staff-- helpful & friendly. Although weather was chilly, the hotel was warm in all areas.
Review 54:We booked seaviw room only to be told when complained because we only had a very partial side view that we should have booked a Cathredral view (which was not an option at time of booking), and itcwould cost us a considerable amount to change rooms. However, our friends who I had booked at the same time were given a full seaview room. When reception were challenged about this they said it was a lucky mistake! The staff were not overly friendly and on occassions were quite miserable. We were not able to buy a coffee or nightcap after 1230, and there were no tea or coffee making faclities in the room, which in a 5* hotel is unusual.
Review 55:The room was very clean, bed comfortable, bathroom a good size. The initial reaction on entering the lobby was good.
Review 56:Not wifi internet service : inadmissibe and untolerable for a business man Excessive costs of minibar
Review 57:Excellent chief cook Excellent breakfast service Nice and quiet room Kind welcome and staff
Review 58:It was a pity that the bed we stayed in was only 5 feet wide when my wife and I are used to sleeping in a 6 foot wide bed. It would have been nice to have a lounge to sit in other than in reception opposite the desks.
Review 59:The staff, the food and the welcome was unique and it was easy to make friends there very quickly. The view from the bedroom window of the bay of Palma was worth the price of the accommodation on it's own.
Review 60:I had just spent a week at another 5* (golf-resort) Hotel and the difference couldn't be more obvious: the service is much better and they speak the language you want them to speak to you, Spanish, English, German, Polish, Chinese... The downsides (not many, and I'm a hypocrite!) - the towels are too floushy, not sucking up the wetness of the body poperly. - I missed a sundeck on my huge balcony - inorder to use the fairly strong hairdryer one needs to keep pushing the button on it (I diskike that). - my minibar door was blocked by the shelf it was put in. General info: the Valparaiso is off a Chinese chain but this is only visible to a trained eye at the reception. Otherwise the general taste of the decoration is as shown on the photos, highly modern and things fit together!
Review 61:The hotel and especially the breakfast area could do with some redecoration. The style was a bit old fashioned.
Review 62:Staff was extremely nice and helpful. The breakfast was excellent -the best we had in years. The spa area was very nicely done and everything was well maintained. The kids appreciated that the wifi was good.
Review 63:The staff were not too friendly but having read this in other reviews beforehand it did not upset us. The location is not too bad as there is a bus service but it also keeps you fit walking .
Review 64:The spa and gym were excellent. The rooms were a wonderful size and very comfortable. An electric kettle would be beneficial
Review 65:Basic, clean rooms, nice pool areas and ok restaurant for lunch. Breakfast was very nice, lots of fruits which I personally liked. I would rate this hotel as very nice 4*, but the fifth, well, I didn't see it. I can recommend it for families with bigger children or friends traveling. There is about 15mins taxi drive to the city center (6-7€/way).
Review 66:Loved the spa-however there was a lack of any reception staff - a welcome tour of the facilities/treatments on offer would have been useful.
Review 67:Liked the location, a short taxi ride or a lovely walk along the harbor into Palma. Arrived at 10.15am and appreciated the offer of breakfast-very welcome after a such an early start! The breakfast buffet was absolutely the best we have ever been offered.Worth paying the extra for a sea /cathedral view.
Review 68:Wifi signal was weak in the rooms. This hotel is located 10 mins drive from downtown, if u intend to stay in the hotel and not leave its the best choice. However, in my case I wanted to see around. Lots of taxi trips were taken.
Review 69:The hotel is excellent, staff are very friendly especially Toni.
Review 70:Beds could have been more comfortable. Tea and coffee makers should be provided in room. Lunch and evening menus need more choices.
Review 71:Beautiful pools with ample comfortable loungers. Staff were always polite and helpful. Breakfast was amazing and always fresh.
Review 72:The evening meakl was very expensive & simply overpriced for what was offered. A simple barbeque (choice of plain grilled meats or fish) cost about £40.00. It would have been acceptable at under £20.00. Breakfast was splendid but again over priced at £23.00.
Review 73:All very good - apart from the price of the food - see over
Review 74:Carpets very grubby, patio door broken although a service man came to repair, lack of instructions for the safe and the reception staff looked crumpled, tired and were not overly welcoming
Review 75:Not on the beach. Nearest nice beach is about 30 min walk. Palma centre is a 10 min taxi. Although taxi ranks and bus stops are just outside the hotel so not a huge inconvenience.
Review 76:Staff are friendly, polite and helpful. Hotel is spotless and luxurious. Beautiful rooms. Housekeeping staff leave chocolate on pillow daily - a lovely little touch. Pools are huge and very enjoyable. Spa is incredible - best I've ever experienced and made for a very relaxing day when it was raining outside. Breakfast buffet fantastic. Overall a perfect 3 days.
Review 77:courtesy of staff was not as expected in a five star hotel, first time i don't find a kettle with tea/coffe in a five star hotel, pillows of bed.
Review 78:You could occasionally smell cigarette smoke from other bedrooms, but only in the hall. The menu in the bistro wasn't great for a 5 star hotel.
Review 79:The pools were never crowded. Even arriving at 11am there was plenty of selection of beds, rare for high season. It wasn't overrun with children either. I stayed with my 10 year old and there were maybe 5 other children there during our stay. Enough for him to play with but not enough to bother anyone. The room was very comfortable and modern with the most stunning views over Palma and the cathedral. The breakfasts we brilliant with a superb selection.
Review 80:At some times of day wasnt always easy to find enough shade particularly when pools busy.
Review 81:Pool facilities very good particlarly for hotel so close in to Palma. Bistro restaurant very good and entertainment was good on several nights.
Review 82:Signs needed to be clearer saying where the restaurant/spa/pool is. The hotel is on the outskirts of Palma and is also up a steep hill. Takes 15 mins to get to the harbour and an even longer walk to get towards central Palma. Again, if you don't want to do much it's great but if you want to look around there's quite a lot of walking involved.
Review 83:Pools were amazing, no worries about getting a sun lounger at any time of day. Quiet environment and no kids running around! Waiter service at the pool made it all the more relaxing. Room service available if you want it- particularly good if you don't want to sit on your own as a lone traveller.
Review 84:The property was quite a distance from the centre of palma~ 10 minute taxi ride.
Review 85:Nice hotel with good views of the bay. Restaurant was nice and staff friendly.
Review 86:the room, the beds, the bathroom, I would have preferred a view of the harbour although we did have a view of the sea which we had requested.Breakfast was excellent, and the only fault I could envisage was the location. As it happened I had a rental car but if I had been without I would have struggled with the hill leading up. I must mention the swimming pools, they are the best I have swam in. Thanks for a great holiday.
Review 87:2 miles out of main town and no local bars & restaurants.
Review 88:High quality hotel with superb views over Palma. Friendly, efficient staff. Great food with vast choice at breakfast. First class pools and gardens.
Review 89:Although I visited this hotel in the height of the season the facilities never seemed over stretched. There was plenty of room by the pools with many sun beds not being used and the restaurants always had tables available. And the staff were always extremely courteous and helpful. I had a very relaxing holiday at this hotel and will definitely go there again.
Review 90:Thought the breakfast buffet was overpriced, and nothing special. €28.pr head, should be included for residents. Due to the Spanish lifestyle of late nights, late mornings, many residents wouldn't make it to breakfast anyway. Wi fi broke up and froze a lot when on FaceTime in the room. Quite a steep walk back up to the hotel from the main road. Needed taxi ride to the centre of town.
Review 91:Staff very pleasant, helpful and polite. Beautiful gardens. Lovely pool areas. Heated indoor pool area and superb spa area, to escape the midday sun, or wind. Nice spacious rooms with good sized ensuite.
Review 92:Nothing at all serious but location might be a little far out for some (we didn't mind a 30 minute walk in and cab back, but others might) and TV reception surprisingly poor for a hotel on top of a hill
Review 93:Wonderful pools - always enough loungers Great breakfasts Lovely, spacious room with balcony Excellent staff Great little spa Quiet location
Review 94:For a 5 star hotel it was rather outdated. There was a large pole in the middle of my room which I had to walk around and I had a view of rooftops. When I arrived I carried my bags up the stairs, then to my room (not what I expected from a 5 star hotel), then my key card didn't work, so carried my bags back to the lobby and back up to my room again once it was properly activated. In my room I made a phone call back down to the lobby to enqire about a few things and he was rather rude and unhelpful and told me to sort it all out myself in the morning. On check-out, I requested a cab be called, 30 minutes later one had not arrived for me - although it had for another guest rather promptly so I went to the same lady to enquire - she asked what I was still doing here. Not impressed at all with customer service in general!!!!! Of course, i carried my own bags down the stairs again to the cab when I left. These are just a few examples. I was really looking forward to staying here and I spent far too much money on it. Very disappointed.
Review 95:The pool was quite relaxing, that's about all I can say that's nice.
Review 96:The cost of the drinks and food was excessive a bottle of water was 3.5euro and the alcoholic beverages were incredibly expensive, there was no tea and coffee making facilities in the standard rooms so unless you wanted to pay 25euro for breakfast or upgrade it was not possible to have a reasonably priced hot drink in the morning. Food was very expensive although the standard was good.
Review 97:The location was good although a good walk down to the nearest shops. The bus service and taxi rank was very close and the facilities in the hotel were very good. The hotel itself was clean and well presented although a little impersonal, room cleaning was very good.
Review 98:I don't know what to start with... First of all it was our honeymoon trip and we've mentioned it to the hotel, the same as non-smoking preference. Guess what? They prepared our room in smoking floor. When we started complain about our room location, showing non-smoking preference in booking confirmation, receptionist told us that we wanted a king size bed. 5 stars hotel and they can't prepare room for honeymoon, not sure if it's really hard to do - king size bed + non-smoking preference. They changed it, but didn't forget to mention that they are giving us an upgraded room and won't charge us for it. Well thank you! Most of all, don't forget hotel is located bit on the hill and there's no doorman to help you with the bags. The room... Keeping in mind that's a SPA hotel, everything smells like chlorine or something similar, but no worries, you'll get used to it in couple of days. We've never used free sleepers cause of moldiness. They don't have "please make my room" sign, only "NO" - if you're not placing this sign room keeper will enter it without knocking at 10 am. All stuff except reception doesn't know english or german. Food is greasy, but it's almost everywhere in Palma. SPA and all pools are closed at 21.00, so forget about romantic night swimming. Please also bear in mind that room service cost 3.00 eur, so bucket of ice - 3.00 eur, 2 Lipton bag teas - 10 eur (inc. 3.00 eur room service). If you want to have some nice lunch it's better to go to the one of the Porto Pi's bars or restaurants. Room keeping extraordinary- they doesn't change bed sheets, as also as doesn't add shampoos and all this little stuff.
Review 99:Location is in quite area Porto Pi, which is excellent if you want to relax and escape from center night life. Spa is nice.
Review 100:For some reason they had salty water in the pools. 28e is too much for a breakfast. That would make 336e for two persons in six days. By the pool you have to pay 6,6e for a large beer. I do understand it is a five star hotel, but still. The tv in the room was showing a snow storm on most channels . Could not fix it during our stay.
Review 101:The area is nice, bus stop and taxistation by the hotel. Big pools. Spacious rooms.
Review 102:The Wi Fi was terrible only working sometime and kept cutting off. I didn't like the old fashioned showers over the bath would much prefer separate cubicle shower.
Review 103:I liked the pool area and the fact it was not overcrowded, the breakfast was good but I missed not being able to have eggs benedict the rooms were good but the category supreme and deluxe should be made more clear , I chose deluxe thinking it was better than supreme so ended up with a room not as good as I would have chosen .
Review 104:Great place, excellent facilities and the bbq dinner was great. The only downside is the food. It's not bad, just not as great as everything else.
Review 105:No info about the hotel when staying there Charges of drinks 5* no water at poolside Cost of taxis into Palma Exchange rate of 93 euros in hotel when 126 exchange rate No tea making facilities in room No shops/bars/restaurants within walking distance
Review 106:Communal areas very impressive Clean
Review 107:The fridge in the room had a little mould in it. The outdoor jacuzzi in the pool had Green tidemarks which needed cleaning
Review 108:The most amazing Spa with so many experiences/different saunas, jaccuzis indoor and outdoor. The breakfast quality and selection was the best I've seen and I'm a frequent visitor to quality hotels. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 109:Incessant noise from 2 fountains disturbed the tranquillity. Wi-Fi hit or miss.
Review 110:Paraiso Restaurant especially good. Pools lovely. Staff excellent. Room great.
Review 111:Needed in room tea/coffee facility and no complimentary water. Wifi reception was a bit unreliable.
Review 112:Superb spa and outdoor pools. Accommodation spacious and well appointed. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Parking easily accessible.
Review 113:The constant noise of the fountains was irritating. And no shuttle bus to the town centre was surprising.
Review 114:Quality of food in the main Paraiso Restaurant was second to none. As good as you would get on a top cruise.
Review 115:The only downside was the need to take a taxi in order to reach the centre of Palma.
Review 116:Quiet and peaceful location but remote from the main centre of Palma. Excellent hotel, good food, friendly and helpful staff and very good pool area.
Review 117:A treatment in the spa was charged twice (it was paid in cash and also charged to my credit card). I am now awaiting for a reimbursement.
Review 118:The hotel is very comfortable and it probably has one of the best swimming pools (particularly the lower floor swimming pool surrounded by a beautiful garden), of the hotels I have stayed in.
Review 119:Very expensive breakfast
Review 120:Great location, professional and kind staff, spacy and luxurious room with view to the port, perfectly clean and most off all, great spa and wellness facilities
Review 121:The bedrooms are vey spacious with a beautiful bathroom. Visiting the Spa during your stay is a Must!
Review 122:Nothing worthy of note
Review 123:Virtually flawless service and facilities, truly worthy of 5-star rating. Fantastic heated outside / indoor pool.
Review 124:Poor location
Review 125:Good spa
Review 126:Standard room was terrible so I paid more to uprgade 2 levels.
Review 127:Nice staff
Review 128:Le Spa
Review 129:Excellent hotel and staff
Review 130:Lots of space, very comfortable sun loungers, a great spa and lovely food.
Review 131:No welcome, raw bad smell room,
Review 132:Spa
Review 133:The hotel is and gardens are immaculate, its position high above Palma means that there are wonderful views too.
