Reviews for Hotel Nerja Club & Spa

Review 1:Did not get adjoining rooms, so therefore we cuold not enjoy as a family. one room smelt of dampness and also the area that we were staying in was very noisy with young footballers

Review 2:The pool was in a nice location

Review 3:the room had no balcony, and when we opened the curtain we we level with the public on the pavement and next to a zebra crossing,so we had to keep the curtains closed or people could look into the room and our front door was next to the elevator very noisy& kitchen was closed at 3pm xmas day no food till 7.30pm at xmas buffet which was a shambles. we were told to meet in the bar at 7pm by the manager and bring our receipts for xmas buffet, by 7.30 the manager did not appear it then became free for all to get to the dinning room for a seat,as i have just recently had a stroke we were last in to eat and last out & the entertainment was upstairs so all the seats were taken not one member of staff checked if we had payed or not and there were people who had not payed for xmas buffet but just wandered in as they were nor asked for proof of payment we were told by reception wifi in the room there was none, only in the reception area and bar

Review 4:cleanliness & friendly staff

Review 5:There was nothing we disliked, but it is just a little far out of the centre of town. No problem though as there are buses and taxis.

Review 6:The pool and terrace with the view. The friendliness of staff.

Review 7:Beds were very uncomfortable. A bit of a walk if you wanted to go into town.

Review 8:Staff was great. it was a great price. Very clean. Not extras. What I expected for the price.

Review 9:My balcony overlooked the pool but it was impossible to use because it was minute. To get on the balcony the one chair had to be brought into the bedroom and then moved on to the balcony behind me. To even open the single door to the balcony I had to move the bedside table.

Review 10:The friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff. The evening entertainment was good. The pool in the Spa was like getting into a warm bath but it was a little small for swimming and the steps in the water seemed to be coated with oil. I only used the buffet once as it is not my type of dining, but I used the restaurant several times and the food and service there was very good.

Review 11:Hotel located on main road on a roundabout with a mainroad to beach onone side also our room on the side had Mercadona. Car park opposite.Weasked to be moved were given a room facing the pool. Balcony was 2 footwide , air con sounded like a tractor and was filthy ,Spa pool 12ft by15ft .Main outside pool would not cope with more than 20 people. Not asdescribed in advert very noisy on outside.

Review 12:Food was plentiful and of a good standard

Review 13:Safe deposit in room needed key from reception with deposit and daily cost. Wi Fi, had to ask for code. Both should be issued at check-in

Review 14:Good value, location , parking ok

Review 15:Beds were a little uncomfortable but nothing to stop me staying there again.

Review 16:Excellent value for money and the staff very friendly. Cleanliness of the hotel was excellent.

Review 17:Very clean, food was great and staff amazing! Indoor spa and swimming pool was fab bit of a walk to town but much needed after eating a big buffet dinner! Excellent value for money.

Review 18:I found the drink rather expensive the measures were very small indeed once the ice was removed

Review 19:Breakfast was ok . Dinner was basic and choice was moderate

Review 20:The bar staff especially during happy hour.

Review 21:Happy hour for drinks, entertainment on one of our two night stay. Sun terrace away from pool making for peace and quite if that is what you like. Good food.

Review 22:Room had good view of supermarket car park and the sound of mediocre "entertainment" penetrated the door until late at night.

Review 23:Not a lot really. Basically clean but very tatty room - curtain in shreds in places. It was cheap

Review 24:When we arrived our room wasn't ready as the previous occupants had a late check out, we had to wait several hours. The room was small and cupboard space limited. The towels were very thin and seemed old. The television wasn't watchable and the Internet patchy. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Air conditioning was very noisy. We were bed and breakfast and found the food almost inedible. There were no tea making facilities in the room.

Review 25:The staff were very friendly and the hotel was clean.

Review 26:Room was down in basement area, nice large room but smelt of damp, soundproofing walls needs sorting you can hear everything next door and very noisy early in the morning. But it's a 3 star hotel....in my opinion it's a very good 3 star hotel

Review 27:Swimming pool and sun bed area very clean and modern, food was good too, we booked 2 double rooms and they made sure they were together, staff excellent, ideal hotel for a short break holiday.

Review 28:The food wasn't good. Loud live music until midnight every evening. The bathroom smelled bad although it looked clean.

Review 29:Nerja is a beautiful town and the hotel is a 15 minutes walk away from the center.

Review 30:Rooms were horrible dark and pokey...staff were very rude...breakfast was very poor (tinned fruit in a country where beautiful fruit is grown )I could go on....

Review 31:Not much to like here. ..pool area was nice when one could get a bed !!

Review 32:very tired décor, the hot water tap made very loud noise, coffee tasted aweful, marmalade was terrible ,bacon over cooked ,impossible to eat. and sausage raw in middle.cant really call it a spa when theres only a Jacuzzi and little pool..

Review 33:the staff were very friendly, and the overall areas were clean .pool very nice.

Review 34:Would be nice to have mattress toppers for extra comfort, beds a little firm and a mini fridge in the rooms. Sat TV for English channels not great

Review 35:Very cosy and friendly excellent value for money, spotlessly clean.

Review 36:Not adequate for families with children Available Parking. Lift size. Entering the hotel from the swimming pool on bathing clothes

Review 37:Staff, Facilities, Spa

Review 38:Once again we, my wife and I were allocated a substandard room even though we emailed the hotel prior to our trip to ask if we could possibly have a room which was not on the ground floor. We had to spend time trying to change rooms which in the end we did. Some of the bar staff need to accept that they are working in the hospitality industry!

Review 39:The Manager and most of his staff seemed very polite and welcoming. The rooms and facilities were clean and tidy but the pool attendant needs to take a closer look at the walls of the pool under the surface of the water before someone catches a nasty illness.

Review 40:It's a bit far up a hill from the centre and from the beach. There is a bus across at the Supersol that runs hourly. We only discovered this on our third day. I feel the staff should have told us when we asked how to get to the town centre.

Review 41:It was a 3 star hotel so you get what you pay for. It was clean, friendly but quite basic. Breakfast was ok. We didn't have dinner. We were looking for a cheap break so for what we paid the hotel was fine.

Review 42:Not that I didn't like anything I just thought the 1 pillow that was all in 1 was strange.

Review 43:Really enjoyed our whole stay there. Thanks to the hotel and staff.

Review 44:We unfortunately had to spend four days sharing our room with cockroaches. Despite our constant moaning we had to wait until day 5 to be moved. Our room was apparently the only room in the entire hotel to be affected so surely we should have been moved sooner. In those 5 days my son and I barely slept and bathed as they were coming in in the bathroom. This was our only holiday this year and to have had 5 days out of seven spoilt is completely unpacceptable. Would have hoped they had made every effort to move us sooner. Disappointed with some members of staff with their rudeness however a couple were particularly friendly and apologetic.

Review 45:Lovely pool with clean public areas.

Review 46:Very helpful staff the room was presentable on arrival and cleaned every day to high standard. The breakfast was very good and as much as you like!! We eat one evening meal their and again very good value for money. Happy hour is great order one drink get two!! Thoroughly recommend the hotel but I really think you need a car as it is a little bit out of Nerja although public transport did stop outside and taxis in abundance.

Review 47:The price was expensive when booked at the last minute. Also, the food was very similar every day and there was little "Spanish" food as it was very "English" i.e. a cooked English breakfast, chips at dinner. Some of the chefs at dinner were clearly very accomplished though.

Review 48:The proximity to the beach which was a 10 minute walk - this meant that the hotel was quiet enough (I was in the new part of the hotel - my mum was placed in the old part which was noisier) but still accessible. Also it was halfway between the old town of Nerja and the caves in Maro which was convenient for looking at tourist experiences.

Review 49:Wifi not good enough to watch a movie, check in process slow, though it was explained guests didn't leave rooms on time and cleaners were then cleaning the rooms. Complimentary drinks given.

Review 50:Good location, great facilities. Outdoor pool, and sun loungers. Spa and hydro massage pool indoors, needs to be booked. Waiters very polite and helpful, especially Luis. Food was plentiful, with a good variety.

Review 51:Very poor value for money. Advertised free parking, but parking was actually in a supermarket car park across the road. Bathroom disappointing, clean but sparten.

Review 52:We would have liked a double bed rather than the singles pushed together! ( cant find anything else to say bad about the place )

Review 53:I loved the location of the hotel as we are non drinkers so we were happy with the quiet relaxed atmosphere of the hotel! And we found our room very cool from the air con that worked automatically when we left! (for free) we would recommend and definitely return there again :-)

Review 54:All in all the room was fine but the beds were not comfortable. Also, not enough staff on at the bar especially at happy hour, which often meant one could not benefit from it because of the queue.

Review 55:The pool area, although small was more than comfortable and was nice and quiet. As well as being a sun trap, having the swifts dance across one's head whilst sipping a drink was mesmerising.

Review 56:One big criticism there were rougly about 45 sun loungers for over 200 guests so at 9.30 when the sun loungers were unlocked there was a mad rush for them. Also not enough parasols for the amount of people at the hotel. The pool area could take more of both and the hotel should invest in some. From gossip around the pool guests will not be returning to the hotel because of this.

Review 57:Hotel was good but quite a way out of town and a long walk to any beach. The beds are very hard but it did not stop us from sleeping. The wifi covered bedrooms and pool area which was good. Food was good too.

Review 58:Dining restaurant basic and lacking character/atmosphere. Food very basic and bit disappointing. Quite a long walk to old town and the shore line. Very hard beds which we found uncomfortable.

Review 59:Friendly Staff. Nice pool and sun bed area. Good sized room quite nicely fitted out but lacking drawers. Air con worked fine.

Review 60:Distance to main resort area is a good 20 mins walk with a very slight (but tiring) incline walking back. Rooms are very basic and the whole hotel is in need of a good revamp. Pool rooms are very limited and extremely small. Larger rooms are available but, the view we had was on to an outside brick wall despite requesting a sea / pool view. Sunbeds and sun area (only round by the small pool area) are limited and will be a frustration in peak season so, be aware.

Review 61:Nothing exceptional about this hotel but, for a 3 Star I guess it's OK.

Review 62:no soundproofing. not enough sun loungers and only a few with head raising. only x2 tables for next to sun loungers available.

Review 63:staff friendly. hotel spotless clean.

Review 64:Attitude of the bar staff left a lot to be desired, need retraining in customer relations. They will be doing menial tasks behind the bar while ignoring clients. Dress code in the restaurant in the evening non existant.

Review 65:relax after long drive from Portugal

Review 66:Cafeteria outside and bar staff appeared under pressure during busy periods. Needed more help. NOT their fault if understaffed.

Review 67:Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent food for every meal and good service in the dining room. Indoor heated pool and jaccuzzi were excellent.

Review 68:Spa is a joke, this was large bathroom with jacuzzi rather than Spa

Review 69:Nice clean rooms Helpful friendly staff Parking afront of the hotel Comfy pool area

Review 70:Asked for ground floor room as I have trouble with stairs. Got a room at ground level in some sort of annex which required me to negotiate two flights of stairs down to room. Room very dated and bathroom needs retiling and fitting. Water systems in bathroom very very noisy.

Review 71:Breakfast good. Hotel interior attractive and clean in public areas. pool spotless.

Review 72:- small rooms - creaky bed - we waited quite long until the receptionists did both the check-in/out due to long phone conversations

Review 73:- breakfast was superb. Actually is an open buffet with plenty of choices - bathroom is big enough - nice balcony view - very good location (close to the main attractions if you are by car)

Review 74:Twin beds pushed together to make a double bed. No kettle in the room.

Review 75:Location & Wi-Fi. Facilities were nice. Parking, location and efficiency of staff.

Review 76:Our only criticism, visiting in February, was that there was no heating in the public areas [lounge, bar, dining room] and it was cold.

Review 77:The rooms were spotlessly clean, staff all very friendly and obliging, and the meals excellent. The facilities were good, and although some of the furnishings in the room were a little 'knocked about', redecoration was in progress.

Review 78:On arrival at just after midnight we asked if we could get a drink to be told that the bar was closed. We asked if we could take a bottle of wine up to the room which was also refused. When we got to the room we saw that the bar was supposed to be open until 1am. After making a fuss they reluctantly let me take a bottle of wine to the room. On the Saturday evening there was no hot water. Thinking it was a blip we made do with cold showers (very unpleasant) but found there was still none on Sunday morning. When I complained I was simply told 'yes we have a problem but it's been fixed'. It would have been nice if they had communicated this to everyone. I was offered a room to have a shower in another part of the hotel but was assured the problem was fixed. No hot water Sunday night or Monday morning. They offered €40 compensation (after I asked if they were going to charge me full price for my stay). I accept that problems happen but I think the way it was dealt with was appalling. I will never stay there again.

Review 79:The price but I guess it proves you get what you pay for.

Review 80:Road side room so lots of traffic woke us up quite early.

Review 81:There wasn't an awful lot to dislike actually! A great little hotel with good food and a gorgeous pool and terrace! We have travelled on motorbikes to Gibraltar and back and have stayed it top notch 5 star hotels and I have to say this hotel was very good!

Review 82:Although there was a good variety at Breakfast, the hot cooked food was warm at best and went cold almost immediately. Bedroom had no tea and coffee facilities . Not much choice on TV in lounge area.

Review 83:The food was good and it is in an excellent position. Comfortable seating. Good pool and was very clean.

Review 84:Our room 204 we think was immediately over the sauna and fitness suite. Water could be heard running at night and the room temperature was very hot and could not be controlled by the air conditioning. I spoke to reception but was told it could not be altered. Bathroom was not well attended. The bath is difficult and dangerous to get in and out whilst taking a shower. Tissues ran out after the first day and not replenished. The restaurant had a wide selection for breakfast but the quality was not good especially with regards to coffee and fruit juices.

Review 85:Overall cleanliness. Bar snacks. Entertainment and the spaciousness of the sun terrace and lounges.

Review 86:Breakfast and dinner could be better but hay it's still value for money

Review 87:The staff were nice location bit out as you have get taxi coming back from town as it's uphill

Review 88:Food was average, booked spa for 1hr (pool freezing, jacuzzi freezing, suna out of order, only one shower working)

Review 89:Wifi-Happy hour-cleanliness- great welcome & staff very friendly & helpful

Review 90:Bed mattress a little hard

Review 91:This hotel has really friendly staff. The matress on the beds were a little hard but speaking to staff an extra blanket underneath made them more comfortable. Food was good and part of our package allowed us free spa sessions. The hydro pool however was not working nor the directional shower but we used the jacuzzi each day. Our room had good views over Nerja so overall a good experience.

Review 92:beds in our opinion were hard, we asked for a double but got a twin. Although the range was good the breakfast buffet menu items were a bit on the cheap side but no limits on what you could have however.

Review 93:Decent room and bathroom which was cleaned top to bottom each day. Very quiet location although we were on the side but not a lot of noise. Staff very helpful and we always had a pleasant greeting and smile.

Review 94:Nothing to dislike xxx

Review 95:Everything. The staff are so kind and welcoming. Everyone goes out of their way to make your stay as great as possible. Fabulous little hotel.

Review 96:Beds are not the most comfortable and if your in the rooms under the pool deck every noise seems to be amplified.

Review 97:Staff were friendly and helpfull, WIFI was available in almost all areas and free. Location is good for travel in and out of Nerja. Food is good if a little pricey for area but saves the walk into town.

Review 98:Room was very noisy due to the street. I think the window didn't close completely as we could hear even the tennis matches from the court over the street. Rooms facing the pool may be quiet, but there is animation in the evening. Also we heared conversations of other people in the hotel. Bathroom needs a renovation, mounting of shower head was very loose, damage of bathtub. Our toilet stopped working in the night, they could only fix it the next morning. Didn't help us much as we were there only for one night. Hotel didn't reply to emails and didn't consider any of the wishes in the booking.

Review 99:Rooms look very nice and modern.

Review 100:Tired basic hotel, could't get use of FREE spa, pool area and rooms over run with flys, noisiest air conditioning ever used could hear this in the rooms above and around. No hair dryer in room in this day no one takes hair dryers

Review 101:No Wi-FI in the room. I have to say that this is the norm wherever we stay and it is unacceptable.

Review 102:Pretty much everything. Staff were efficient & polite. We had to move rooms (before we had even unpacked so no problem doing so) because of a water leak in the room above, but it was done with the minimum of fuss and a free bottle of wine was waiting in the new room. There is loads of space to relax in the hotel and around the pool. The town is a 15 minute walk through shopping streets. Good choice for breakfast. Will stay there again.

Review 103:The hotel was very tired and filled with seniors on tour buses. We are in our late 50's and felt like we were in a retirement home. Beds were awful, air-conditioning was a swamp cooler, very noisy. Food for breakfast was just ok. Would not go back.

Review 104:The view from the hotel was lovely. It is perched on a hill above the beach.

Review 105:beds too hard; very noisy; no drink-making facilities; entertainment far too loud! not enough sun loungers Air con old and noisy

Review 106:good pool; staff very friendly. and helpful

Review 107:Our room felt like it had been squeezed in, and there was a hint of cigarette smell. The bed was not as comfortable as most. It was hard to avoid blowing smoke in the outdoor dining area.

Review 108:Good efficient lodging. Unusually hot and high pressure water.

Review 109:Lack of toilet paper Only had twin beds even after booking a double few months before Not that close to the beach uphill Free parking is somewhere near

Review 110:not too far from city centre (15min walk) Clean room Nearby supermarkets

Review 111:Not much at all really.

Review 112:The hotel was exactly as described. Staff were pleasant, room was clean and the music in the bar was good! The live entertainment included "The Lonely Beatle", a guy called Louis who was excellent.

Review 113:Nothing

Review 114:We were greeted well, easy check in, helpful and friendly staff. Great happy hour. Great breakfast. Nothing extra for the spa facilities. Just make sure you book in.

Review 115:Hotel Nerja Club & SpaThe room was very small and basic and looked threadbare. I was very disappointed to see such a small room and for that price too! We’re use to something more spacious than this and this cubby hole is not what I expected.Very claustrophobic in my opinion. There were no facilities in the room at all to make a cup of tea or coffee so needless to say there was no kettle either or a small fridge. Nothing. It had an old fashioned type of air-conditioner stuck in the wall. It rattled and clanked the whole time it was on and it was very disturbing indeed. And when I say it rattled, it rattled. To spend all that money for one night and not even a cup of coffee was included in the morning or any breakfast. Had I known that the breakfast was extra I’d never have booked there for that room price. It never occurred to me to check if breakfast was included as the sort of places we normally stay at, breakfast is always included. So that was my mistake. We bought the breakfast but it was terrible. We sat down at a table and the only person who appeared immediately was some girl to make sure we had paid or what was our room number. It’s a damn pity the waitress didn't appear with such alacrity also. We sat there and sat there and in the end I had to get up and go and get the cutlery and napkins for our table myself. Nobody ever showed up.The orange juice (so called) was just liquid sugar and if you've not got diabetes before you drank it you’d sure be a contender for it after a glass or two, laced with all that sugar. It was nothing more than orange coloured sugar water. Cheapest you can buy.The scrambled eggs were tasteless and all dried out as they were powdered. The sausages and bacon was swimming in a sea of fat in the pans they were delivered from the kitchen in. And the coffee was dreadful, absolutely awful, very watery. Cheap. cheap. We abandoned breakfast and returned to the room.

Review 116:Not much. Room was very clean.

Review 117:not enough staff at busy times, often waiting a long time. walls between rooms are extermely thin, quality of sleep wasn't great. We could hear everyone moving around on either side of the room, above and below us. Earplugs would be advised.

Review 118:Perfect location Wide selection at breakfast nice pool great toasted sandwiches Cheap drinks + happy hour !

Review 119:Room: not like the pictures, very old air conditioning machine too noisy so very hot during the night. They gave us a double with 2 beds...

Review 120:Swimming pool

Review 121:Pool area looked quite nice but there were way to few sunbeds in relation to the size of the hotel so I never got the chance to use it. Room was very small and without a balcony so a really big disappointment. Breakfast hours very fine but the food unfortunately quite bad. The tables in the restaurant were never clean and very often with full ashtrays. The waitors were not really interested in the guests.

Review 122:I can't complain about anything. I would say its bout twenty minute walk from town and ten minute walk from beach may not suit some people but we enjoyed walking too.

Review 123:Pool area and Spa lovely. Very spacious rooms with excellent shower. Food lovely.

Review 124:My room was from the eighties. Seriously needs updating/refurb. Wall radio didn't work. Only two English channels on satellite, one of those was BBC News.

Review 125:Quiet and peaceful, perfect for dive training. Old style music entertainment so you can watch the old un's enjoying themselves dancing, which gives you an idea/enjoyment of what popular music was like from way back. Food was ok, but I wish the staff wouldn't drop so much glass and crockery, it made me jump every time when eating meals.

Review 126:Everything! Rooms are very small and dated. AC was like motorbike going in the room all night. Double bed was a more like a large single bed. Very uncomfortable. One pillow between two people?? Whole hotel needs to be redecorated. We have traveled a lot in Spain and this was the worst hotel we stayed in.

Review 127:Free parking

Review 128:Sun beds are all reserved at all beaches, not good, take brolly and mat/chair if you want to sit on the beach.

Review 129:Near to Birianna beach via a quite steep hill. Walk along the top road into Nerja town better and good beaches there takes about 15 mins. Staff at Nerja club very helpful and polite.

Review 130:Food served was cold and unappetising.

Review 131:Friendly staff - good reception.

Review 132:Some of the food needed to be cooked more ie the carrots and greens.

Review 133:The staff were very helpfull

Review 134:The beds were uncomfortable in 116 The bathroom smelt of sewerage. The blankets were old fashioned.

Review 135:The location.

Review 136:Extremely small balcony not enough room for 2 people.

Review 137:Breakfast very good, excellent choice. UK TV

Review 138:Food not hot enough.

Review 139:All staff very good

Review 140:Supermarket just over the road excellent happy hour amazing so quite brilliant will definitely go back in November again lovely warm heat xx

Review 141:Room rather small and claustrophobic

Review 142:Friendly atmosphere, excellent breakfast

Review 143:The room had the entrance to terrace, excellent

The Fine Print
