Reviews for La Potinière Du Lac
Review 1:I would like to have them open for evening meals on Monday and Tuesday but that is very French so not really a problem.
Review 2:The was a great old hotel in a greater location very unique. We arrive late but had sorted out all the details before hand no issues at all. Lots of parking close at hand and we had the best views. The meals in the restaurant were well presented and tasted great.
Review 3:This is not the hotel's fault, but trying to find a parking space on a Sunday was a struggle.
Review 4:Clean, comfortable welcoming hotel on the lakeside. The food was great too and we had a relaxing stay, thanks to the staff.
Review 5:The old wooden staircase leading from the first floor up to the second floor is a bit difficult to negotiate when carrying luggage.
Review 6:This is a charming old hotel in a superb location alongside the lake. There is a lovely view across the lake to the casino which is illuminated at night. The rooms are spotlessly clean and are comfortable. The food in the restaurant is good and I found the staff to be pleasant. I have stayed at this hotel twice and I shall return next year when passing through Normandy.
Review 7:This was our second stay and the hotel remains good value for money. We received excellent service and the food was of a very good standard. Our spacious and comfortable room had all the facilities we needed overlooked the lake and casino.
Review 8:Cant wait to go back next year . Hope restaurant will be open had great reviews in one of our many books.
Review 9:Everything lovely hotel and great location . From when we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by the owners and nothing was too much trouble . Rooms were fab with great views overlooking the lake and the town .Thank you
Review 10:We bumped our heads on the sloping roof in our bedroom.
Review 11:The room was tastefully decorated. It has a lovely location by the lake. The breakfast was fabulous. Our kids loved it.
Review 12:My only moan is that the wifi did not keep you logged in automatically.
Review 13:This is a delightful hotel beside the very pretty lake at Bagnoles. It has been modernised very carefully and the owner is very helpful and speaks good English.
Review 14:The room did smell a little "stale". It was very clean, but the old carpet made it smell a little dusty and old.
Review 15:The building is very nice, and the staff very friendly.
Review 16:Nothing really. I suspect parking could be tricky at the weekend??
Review 17:Beautiful location in the middle of town, right by the lake. The restaurant was very good for dinner and all the staff were extremely courteous and friendly. Wish we'd stayed longer than the one night! Would definitely stay again to break up the ling drive south!
Review 18:Nothing. Perfect
Review 19:Very friendly Staff also very helpful. Atmospheric restaurant with delicious food. Loved everything about it. Free parking directly outside. A traditional hotel with no pretence
Review 20:EVERYTHING, WE HAVE STAYED IN THE TOWER SUITE SEVERAL TIMES NOW ( ROOM 5 ) AND IT IS FIRST CLASS WITH WINDOWS ALL ROUND GIVING A PANORAMIC VIEW OF THE TOWN AND LAKE. RESTAURANT IS EXCELENT ALSO.
Review 21:There is no elevator, we didn't care so much, being first floor, but I guess for the second floor it could be useful.
Review 22:Were in room 2, view on the lake. Would love to try room 1, which seems bigger.
Review 23:Excellent siting adjacent to lake and main shopping street. Easy parking nearby and a good base for touring many of the main sites in Lower Normandy. Also has a very good quality restaurant. Velo rail nearby.
Review 24:Stairs! Cannot be helped in an old building like this, but my partner struggled a bit, as he has knee problems.
Review 25:Perfect spot overlooking the lake at Bagnoles. We were there for the 14th July fireworks and were able to watch from our window. Also liked the warm welcome and helpful staff who helped me find a place to park my car as the road was going to be closed for the firework display that night marking is not normally a problem, with spaces on the street right outside the door. Dinner was excellent and great value.
Review 26:limited success with connecting to the Internet
Review 27:The room was very spacious. The interest and energy of the town. The lake, parks and the choice of restaurants. Helpful friendly staff
Review 28:Stairs are bit difficult to get to the second level, so don't take a big case in with you!
Review 29:Comfortable modern room with quirky layout due to shape of building. Location is right opposite lake and within easy walk of everywhere.
Review 32:Within minutes of settling down in a comfortable room, and consuming a delicious meal I realised there was more to this unique place than just price. As a patron here I was not buying just a room for the night, a beer in the bar or meal in the restaurant, but like everyone else I was buying an experience. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly, and the food was first class.
Review 33:Although my room was adequate and very clean, there was no window to outside, it opened to an enclosed area, which made the room dark. This hotel would be so much better with a comfortable lounge bar.
Review 34:Location, nice restaurant, friendly staff.
Review 35:Lack of a lift could be a problem for older guests.
Review 36:Excellently sited on edge of lake adjacent to main shopping street. Breakfast adequate with choice and quality of evening meal superb with a Savoyard theme as well as Normandy cuisine. Very pleasant staff.
Review 37:Long climb up narrow stairs to room. Iffy wifi reception.breakfast ok but of the prefabricated variety. Restaurant closed Monday and Tuesday. Bed ok but not overly comfortable. Heating variable.
Review 38:Lovely location in area new to us. Owners welcoming. Free parking right outside. Great view across lake from bathroom.
Review 39:We have stayed at this hotel previously. It is quite simply the nicest hotel we have been too. The staff, the location, food, & cleanliness are all superb. Highly recommended.
Review 40:Breakfast was good, croissants and bread really tasty. However, lack of choice for cereal- Frosties or Coco pops... would have preferred an 'adult' choice too.
Review 41:The staff were wonderful, location couldn't have been better, comfy beds and powerful shower! Stayed in the tower room with great views and spacious. Good food in restaurant too with friendly waiters.
Review 42:No lift, lots of stairs. Breakfast is basic.
Review 43:Interesting location in belle-époque spa town. We had a suite in the spire which was very nice with great view. Downstairs restaurant is excellent - have the veal! Parking is on-street but free.
Review 44:Restaurant facilities closed; bar open but no atmosphere. No staff on duty after 10pm. Fairly steep stairs to First floor - no lift. Parking on street and tight- but free!
Review 45:Location - stunning. Room - a bit tired but clean and good views.
Review 46:Lack of lifts could be a problem for older guests.
Review 47:Lady in reception was extremely friendly and helpful. Fantastic location with views over the lake. Good breakfast. Free parking adjacent to the hotel.
Review 48:Steps to second floor a bit steep for elderly.
Review 49:Lake view was wonderful, huge bed, good sized room even on the second floor. Restaurant good value. Friendly staff, free parking outside, lovely walks from hotel. Alot going for this hotel
Review 50:Sad that the restaurant was closed during our stay as we were told it was very good.
Review 51:Lovely room with view of the lake. Nice staff made us very welcome. Very comfortable room with excellent en-suite.
Review 52:La Potinière Du Lac was very Over priced food and drink, obviously tourists pay more than locals do. It was 8 euros for a small beer!! Food was expensive and fairly average... Awful Casino, reminded me of a 1980's youth club with a few slot machines... also 10 Euros for a beer. Joke!
Review 53:Hotel was pleasant and Clean. Staff were english speaking an pleasant. Beatiful Lakeside central position in town.
Review 54:Nothing we will return again soon.
Review 55:Terrific family run hotel with a really warm welcome. The manageress speaks excellent English & enjoys a joke with the customers. The food is also excellent serving authentic alpine Savoyard cuisine to make them stand out from their neighbours. We would recommend the hotel to anyone.
Review 56:We've stayed here twice now to break our journey from Calais to Southern Brittany. It is a lovely, quirky hotel which is a refreshing change from the clinical monotony of chain hotels. Clean rooms, friendly staff and good breakfast. All set in a lovely position by the lac. We'll stay again!
Review 57:We had a very pleasant suite in the tower with fabulous views across the lake. The room was impeccably clean and the bed very comfortable. The staff were first class and the restaurant food was excellent. The lack of a lift to the upper rooms is my only criticism. Overall, a great place to stay, in a fabulous location and boasting the best restaurant in the town.
Review 58:Wonderful reception and very friendly staff. Excellent accommodation beautifully appointed bedrooms and bathrooms. Super breakfast - very good value for money. The central position - right on the Lake , looking out to the casino, in the heart of the sophisticated shops, restaurants and bars of Banjoles
Review 59:No lifts available or ground floor bedrooms.
Review 60:I have stayed at the hotel on and off for about seven years since then the rooms have been modernised to a high standard and the hotel still retains it value for money as well as it's unique location in the town.
Review 61:I needed a lot of help to make some local arrangements and the staff at the front desk were very helpful and patient with my very poor french. This was the case both on the day I arrived and the day I left. I was very grateful!
Review 62:Surprised there was no tea or coffee making facility. We were given a kettle when we asked. The shower was good but the supply of gel/shampoo was disappointing.
Review 63:Lovely location, large comfortable room.
Review 64:Need to book for the restaurant if you want an evening meal...

Review 105:helpful staff nice town great view .over lake good food in hotel good one night stay
Review 106:If I am to be very "picky," my wife and I love an early morning cup of tea and, for us, tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been ideal. Maybe I'm being pedantic - it's not a deal-breaker!
Review 107:There were many things to like in this hotel: the location is wonderful, just across the road from the beautiful lake; the room and indeed the entire premises are pristine and spotless; the staff - especially the owners - are attentive, friendly and very helpful; the cuisine in the restaurant is nothing less than superb and excellent value.
Review 108:Nothing

Review 111:There were no negatives, it even stopped raining!
Review 112:The staff were all very helpful and friendly, spoke good English and made every effort to make you feel welcome
Review 113:good value hotel in a small spa town, close to shops & other restaurants when theirs is closed on Mondays & Tuesdays. Plenty of street parking nearby. Helpful young owners. No lift so if stairs are a problem ask for first floor room rather than second.
Review 114:Niggles really. Heating took a while to sort but got there in the end and would really have likes tea/coffee making facilities in the room to save bothering staff.
Review 115:The owners and staff were really friendly and the location is first class to visit the Normandy Beaches, Mont St Michel, St Malo and other fabulous places of interest.
Review 116:Very clean and comfortable, free wifi which enabled us to keep in touch with elderly family members, lovely meal in the restaurant - all round good value
