Reviews for Le Clos de l'Abbaye
Review 1:View of Abbey from bedroom. History of the building with its old world charm. Delightful host, full of pride and passion for the property and Cluny. Very clean and comfortable - it will please guests from 1 to 99.
Review 2:Nothing
Review 3:Very nice owner. Spacious rooms, clean and with a good atmosphere. Would definitly stay here again if we visit this area. And you get home made jam for breakfast.
Review 4:Room was lovely but bathroom was up creaky wooden stairs - not very easy or quiet to use through the night.
Review 5:Owner was helpful and charming. Use of free bicycles was a great bonus.
Review 6:Everything was perfect.
Review 7:The style and whimsy of the place. The rooms (we had family room) are simply but beautifully decorated with authentic details. High-quality bedding. The owners' did a wonderful job renovating this property, using high-quality materials. Claire, our host, was gracious and informative. Cluny is a beautiful town. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Review 8:This B&B is right in the old part of Cluny which makes for easy walking to sights and restaurants. The owners have renovated and furnished the building in a beautiful, interesting and quirky way and they were very welcoming and helpful. We had a lovely stay!
Review 9:The bathroom was one story up above the bed. For anyone who needs to make the trek during the night, it could be dangerous. Just be aware of this when selecting a room to book. Not all rooms are designed this way. There was some street noise (people and some cars) until rather late. Unless you are very noise sensitive, it was not a problem. Breakfast was quite minimal - bread basket and coffee primarily.
Review 10:Bed was very comfortable with quality linens. Great location within the town. Very authentic old construction dating to just post French Revolution. Liked the thick walls and old beams. There were several restaurants in town and the town was fun to wander through. Wineries were not too far away. The breakfast is served outside in a walled courtyard with an ancient Sycamore tree and this makes for a pleasant start to the day.
Review 11:Two flights of stairs were a struggle with luggage but Claire did offer to help. We don't like duvets in warm weather.
Review 12:Claire's welcome. Central location with public parking nearby. Magnificent restructure using ancient walls. Spacious, light room with excellent bathroom facilities. Friendly breakfast.
Review 13:It would be a tie between the amazing convenience of being directly at the center of everything we wanted to do and the winsome hospitality we experienced there. The owner greeted us like family, and was totally hospitable, friendly, and helpful. The gardens, courtyards, decoration, atmosphere, were just beautiful. It is all done with love and taste by this couple. We felt transported to another world. We felt 100% at home. Visually it's just a beautiful place. The flowers, the breakfast on the terrace, everything. We felt very fortunate to have found this place on the internet. The internet was good, too, which is important for us!
Review 14:Excellent location, a minute from the Abbey, safe parking for bikes but may be more difficult with a car. Good breakfast and wifi and a charming host.
Review 15:The location, the furnishing of the B&B, the charm and competence of the manager, the relaxed yet classy environment. Obviously a lot of thought and passion have gone into this accomodation: we fell in love.
Review 16:Great location and ambiece of room. Extra friendly and helpful owner. Super WiFi with all details provided - no need to ask. Great breakfast. Loved everything!
Review 17:Unfortunately, we had more dislikes than likes. Breakfast was very disappointing--no eggs, cereal, cheese or meat; only bread an a stale brioche. The bathroom was modern, but the shower had no soap or shampoo. Lighting outside and on the long, steep, dark stairway was very poor--really dangerous, causing safety concerns. No light by the gate made it very difficult to see the keypad to put in the code to open the gate at night. The entrance to the B&B was not very welcoming--needed to ring a bell to be admitted to backyard, but then it still was not clear which of several adjoining buildings was the B&B.
Review 18:This is really a B&B, not a hotel. It has a good location very close to the abbey ruins and with a nice view of the abbey tower and medieval street. Our room was large and pleasant but could have used another chair for comfortable sitting. Hostess was very friendly.
Review 19:Excellent location right in centre of Cluny. Lovingly restored building, rooms are really nicely done out and comfy. Yummy breakfast of croissants, bread and homemade jams. Use of a small kitchenette area with fridge, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities. Really friendly and helpful host.
Review 20:We arrived very late (after 10.30pm) after a terrible 12 hours of driving. We called ahead. Our host could not have been more helpful. We were tired and hungry and had given up hope of eating but she kept a restaurant open for us and gave us such a warm family welcome. It is our second visit en route from Italy and it won't be our last!
Review 21:Great breakfast - including home-made marmelade! The stuff was very friendly and the room was beautifully decorated (some of the deco was made by the owner herself).
Review 22:nothing really
Review 23:French breakfast with home made jams, umbrella's for use when it was raining, children could play in the playground while we were (un)packing our bags without risk them going anywhere, host was ready to provide any information about the area
Review 24:We liked everything.
Review 25:Amazing location right next to the Abbey complex and historical city, very welcoming host, renovated interiors in an original historical building, good breakfast.
Review 26:The rooms in this enormous house are great and the location can't be faulted as it is right next to the old Abbey in Cluny. There are stairs up to the rooms and our room had a fabulous view of the church tower. Breakfast was out in the courtyard and was good.Claire was lovely and really seems to enjoy welcoming and interacting with guests.
Review 27:Nothing. All was perfect.

Review 57:The stairs would have been challenging for somebody who was not very mobile.
Review 58:I liked the warmth of the welcome we received and the style of the bedrooms and the breakfast room.
Review 59:Very noisy as it was impossible to close the doors quietly. The mattresses have rubber covers but needed quilted covers as well to stop you sweating so much at night.
Review 60:The decor and the friendly hostess, the location was excellent too.wonderful old building.
Review 61:Scanty information available when we checked in as the owner was not there, and the lady who greeted us could not tell us such things as wifi code, or the time for breakfast. Not made clear on booking that cash payment required. No cards accepted.
Review 62:Beautiful big room, well designed, with a modern/vintage aesthetic, right in the centre of the town and convenient for local restaurants and sights. Beautifully quiet.
Review 63:N/A
Review 64:We loved our stay there! Very warm, friendly, helpful and open owners Claire and Pascal will make your stay memorable. The hotel is a private old, but creatively decorated house, located next to L'Abbaye. It is clean, cozy and comfortable. Pascal visited our home country and even served us the breakfast in a porcelain he bought from there. The continental breakfast was very delicious and we had it at the terrace. The owners create atmosphere for you to feel like at home. The family room we stayed was very spacious and clean. Claire and Pascal put a cot for our baby for free. We will definitely stay in that place again during our next visit to Cluny.
Review 65:It is a beautiful location in a house which has been very imaginatively restored. It is very spacious and full of character and an oasis of calm after a frenetic day on the motorway. Cluny itself is fascinating and bears visiting a number of times.
