Reviews for Grand Hôtel Du Lido
Review 1:Outdated, shabby room with dusty, dirty carpet & curtains; half-broken safe box, no refrigerator or water glasses (flimsy plastic cups were provided when we moved in and never were replaced)
Review 2:Location
Review 3:If you try to return to the hotel after 21.30 in the evening it proved difficult to get in until the attracting the attention (from outside) of the consiarge on the inside. Hotel parking free but very tight
Review 4:This is designated (France) 3* - if it had a few additional amenities such as a fridge in the room, an in room safe (that worked), a 24 hour manned reception it would certainly rate 4* Restaurant and food excellent Staff very helpful but some knowledge of French would be equally helpful Overall good experience with a 7 kilometre sand beach and some hotel private beach amenities immediately available.
Review 5:The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was typical for a budget-minded beachside resort. We had a view of the sea from our bed. The location was good, though a bit of walk to get to town center (restaurants/shopping). They have free onsite parking, but you need a compact car.
Review 6:Some of the other guests had pets (maily dogs) in their rooms. We had two growling dogs next to us.
Review 7:The swimming pool, access straight onto the beach and the food in restaurant, superb. This hotel was not a disappointment
Review 8:Although we are used to a firm bed we found this bed quite hard and after 4 nights it was becoming somewhat uncomfortable. Wifi in the room was a bit slow sometimes but excellent in the computer room.
Review 9:We had a room with balcony and a lateral sea view on the top floor. This was excellent, and since we were on the north side of the building it did not get as hot as it would have on the front or south side. The gardens and general setting was very pleasant, and we also enjoyed sitting outside by the pool for breakfast.
Review 10:Bedroom was a bit cramped at the entrance they could have pushed the bed into the middle of the room. Bed was awful it was so hard I couldn't sleep on it.
Review 11:Swimming pool was lovely. Hotel very clean. Nice location.
Review 12:Bedroom small and basic. Musty stale smell in the room. Back room of annexe. Not a good room for the amount charged
Review 13:Location, hotel's general facilities and common areas. Felt like you were staying in top class hotel
Review 14:No bad experiences.
Review 15:The hotel is beautifully positioned next to the beach with stunning views. We were lucky enough to overlook the sea from a generous balcony. The servicing of the room was excellent and without exception everyone from the Patron down was polite, helpful and friendly.
Review 16:the lay out of the main hotel gardens ,pool, Not so good was my room across the road up some stairs.poor outlook and very hot. All your staff very friendly and caring and efficient.
Review 17:The Grand Hotel du Lido was the last stop of our trip across France. We were in a double room in the annexe across the road. The building/room was very dated, it wasn't overly clean and I was bitten when I got under the bedsheets. The walls gave no soundproofing so we could hear the people in the next room. There is free wifi, however this only worked for one of us, although I'm not sure why this was. We also didn't like the area of Argeles, which was a little disappointing but down to poor research on our part when picking where to stay. Overall, we found this hotel overpriced given that for the same amount of money we had stayed in two lovely privately ran guesthouses where breakfast was included in the price.
Review 18:You can walk directly on to the beach, which has a sectioned off area specifically for the hotel guests, and it has it's own pool. Parking is also free.
Review 19:Staying in self catering rooms at the back of one of the Annexes - quiet and soulless
Review 20:The location of the hotel is excellent, right next to a pebbly, sloping beach (the water's edge is a bit harsh as the sea goes from up to the ankles and then you are up to your waist! - not sure how I would feel about bringing my grandchildren here) A smallish pool, but more than adequate. Relaxing sofas on terrace. Very good food. Friendly and efficient staff. I cannot comment on the hotel rooms as we were in the Annexe which is across the road from the hotel. We were more than comfortable in our room here, but felt very isolated from the hotel. If we had said children and grandchildren with us, we would have been happy here, but it was a bit soulless for us. The bedrooms have frosted panes of glass and are fixed so that they can only open a few inches (this was probably part of planning permission to keep neighbours happy). The view from the terrace faces the private property next door with mountain views in the distance (a lot of vigorous leylandi have been planted between the Annexe and the private property next door so hopefully, as they are now up to the neighbour's roof, they will be lopped so that the views to the mountains will not be compromised. The air conditioning unit is also fixed at 19 degrees so if you like to really chill, this would annoy (it did me!) although my husband was happy. I would certainly return to the hotel, but stay in one of the rooms in the main building, eating meals there and generally feeling part of it all.
Review 21:Other disable people there could not get into the pool, needs a rail to hold on too! Tiles falling of around the edge ,lots of flys around the pool. I only swam in it 3 times ,prefers the beach and the sea .No Wifi it allowed you to receive but not send Emails out ! Menu very boring ,And over priced !
Review 22:Friendly service , Emma was very helpful with my lack of French ! right on the beach with private area. Rooms were basic but clean but unable to use balcony since the aircontioning leaked just outside door
Review 23:Bedroom a bit '90s' Blanket on bed instead of quilt Parking a bit tight with a big car
Review 24:Great position on the beach Nice pool area Friendly staff Good restaurant & bar. Breakfast around the pool
Review 25:Hotel needs to add bigger mugs (maybe this is an English thing)
Review 26:We loved our stay here. The apartment is basic but the kitchen was great. It had all we need (except for big mugs for tea and coffee, they only have expresso cups and wine glasses). Location was perfect and we often would walk into the port for dinner (about 20 minutes or so). Also make sure you go to collioure...amazing! We walked along the coast and it took us about 2 hours (with a stop to eat our packed lunch on one of the beautiful little beaches). Loved our holiday!
Review 27:A bit out of date decoration. Free wifi however we have to add password every time you want to go online.
Review 28:Excellent location, very close to the beach, very relaxing and convenient. Great restaurant at the hotel. Nice swimming pool with sun in the afternoon. Free wifi.
Review 29:Not much to criticise with the hotel, maybe breakfast bit expensive for kids. Location next to the beach was ideal but had not anticipated the traffic and queues to get there.
Review 30:Hotel location and facilities, good pool, plenty of poolside area, short walk to the beach. Really helpful staff with honest opinions. Rooms reasonable size but with a good balcony, bit dated but otherwise fine, good bathrooms. Breakfast by the pool
Review 31:The furniture of the appartments seemed rubbish. Poor tableware. Bad smell in the badroom. Food too expensive. Private beach serves nothing as it is far from the seaside and you still have to pay...no sheets included in the price!!!!!
Review 32:Location in frontbof the beach.
Review 33:The kitchen area in the self-catering flat was too small and badly designed, so it was difficult to prepare even simple food. Wifi was very slow and intermittent.
Review 34:We liked the location, the friendliness of the staff and the ease of checking-in and out.
Review 35:The pool was in direct access to the restaurant which made the pool less accessible in the late afternoon/evening. The prices for everything was quite high e.g. 5 € for a bottle of water
Review 36:Nice location, staff and cleaning was OK
Review 37:We couldn't fault anything.
Review 38:We had a lovely stay. The hotel is perfectly situated on the beach with a great pool. The facilities were of a high standard. The staff were absolutely exceptional, they went about their business in an efficient and friendly way, nothing was too much trouble. They were lead by the managers whose eye for detail resulted in a wonderful stay. We had half board with breakfasts by the pool and evening meals taken either on the outside terrace or in the dining room. We enjoyed food of the highest standard and we took advantage of the buffet lunches which were spectacular. We often visit the south of France but usually in Provence how we wish this hotel could be transported along the coast to this area.
Review 39:Breakfast was pretty unexciting for 12 Euros each. No fridge in room, but at least they agreed to keep our freezer blocks in theirs. Picknicking became difficult. They obviously want you to eat in the hotel for all meals, at least don't make it easy to do anything else.
Review 40:We were in a room in the annex and could hear the people in the next room talking, it didn't really disturb us but it was a bit annoying
Review 41:The location, right by the beach and an easy walk into the resort, is excellent.
Review 42:Lovely pool area and right on the beach
Review 43:Superb Hotel - Excellent, cheerful and efficient staff. Tremendous cuisine, close to beach
Review 44:Bed very small
Review 45:Nice pool. Great beach.
Review 46:Very good hotel. The pool was good. It was nice to have breakfast on the terrace. Out room was in the extension across the road but it was very good.
Review 47:Good location, very peaceful, balcony, nice staff and a car park. Good pool and some live entertainment in the evenings.
Review 48:the rubber mattress protector
Review 49:location and helpfulness of staff
Review 50:In verhouding is de lift te klein (2pers.) Parking idem.
Review 51:Alles. Vooral de ligging t.o.v. de zee is ideaal. Zeer vriendelijk en attent personeel.
Review 52:We looked forward to relaxing by the pool after a day out and then a delicious dinner.
Review 53:Balcony had a lateral view of the sea
Review 54:Nice pool and lovely sandy beach nearby
Review 55:poor breakfast
Review 56:relaxed atmosphere, due to the location and the enthusiast personel !
Review 57:The position and the amvbience. Gret staff and the Sunay buffet was superb
Review 58:Staff very friendly food excellent very clean will be returning next year for sure
Review 59:Wi-Fi did not work Couldn't open doors to terrace Breakfast automatically included in bill
Review 60:Enclosed parking
Review 61:Wifi was very weak
Review 62:Position
Review 63:Bedroom furniture is quirky French pine, looks a bit dated and perhaps is a little short of space.
Review 64:Ever attentive and engaging staff, excellent food - especially the sea food buffets, good patio areas with shade if required and sited only 25 yards from the beach. Beds & linen good. What more could you want?
Review 65:Facilities felt a little tired, could use a refresh, especially in the rooms. Toilet room is too tight. Bath/shower felt dated. Internet wi-fi was extremely slow and painful to use.
Review 66:Location. Location. Location. Staff was extremely helpful, accommodating, and cheerful. Having a private beach area offering lounging chairs and shade umbrellas was very nice. Could be a little closer to the water.... Breakfast was very good.
Review 67:There was no oven, no mugs or normal sized cups ...only minute coffee cups. The drains from the shower and bathroom basin were quite smelly. Apartment was not fully equipped for self catering. Only after the 4th day did we discover, by accident, a washing machine and ironing facilities at the other end of the block of apartments
Review 68:The apartment we stayed in was very clean and a reasonable size with a TV in the lounge and bedroom and over all quite acceptable for our needs.
Review 69:We had one evening meal in the restaurant but did not enjoy it. The menu was quite limited and was very expensive.
Review 70:We had a junior suite on the 2nd floor with a balcony overlooking the sea and swimming pool. The view was wonderful and the balcony spacious with two comfortable chairs and small table. The cleanliness of the hotel was first class and the staff were all very pleasant and happy. The breakfasts were superb.
Review 71:It would have been nice to have been able to make tea or coffee in our room when ever we wanted it - particularly as we had a balcony where we could just sit, relax and look at the wonderful view.
Review 72:From the beginning to the end of our stay all of the staff were both friendly and professional. The food at all of our meals, but particularly at lunch and again at dinner was just excellent.
Review 73:- wifi is not the fastest
Review 74:- good located directly at the beach and not in the city - very friendly welcome - good performance during breakfast and lunch - nice view from the 3rd floor
Review 75:Some people might not appreciate the number of dogs , it is clearly a dog friendly hotel.
Review 76:We stayed one night at this hotel and liked it very much. There is a lovely pool in pretty gardens with lots of very comfortable chairs and sunbeds. Our room was in the villa annex just across a small road from the main building. The room was comfortable with good bathroom and terrace overlooking the hotel with view of the sea through the pinetrees. The décor was reminiscent of the last century but attractive and clean. Breakfast was excellent ,served on the terrace around the pool with a variety of fruits cereals breads cheese and meats. We also had dinner ,which was a set price of €35 for 4 courses with a couple of choices for each course .The staff were particularly helpful and personable.
Review 77:Rooms we stayed in were very tired, but clean. We nearly cancelled because of this. Limited eating venues close by, but this was in late September. Town is full of camp sites so imaging the area very busy in summer.
Review 78:Staff excellent, and location on the beach was very good. Pool clean and well maintained. Provided a room fridge following a request.
Review 79:The hotel gave us an apartment that had not been cleaned. It was veryquickly resolved, however after a long journey it was not a good start. We also went to the Bar one evening for a drink. We were ignored by thestaff so we left. There seemed to be a different level of service fromthose staying at the Hotel to those staying in the apartments
Review 80:Being so close to the beach helped you to unwind after a day exploringthe area. The Port was the best place to eat .
Review 81:Hard bed!
Review 82:Position by the beach. Quiet. Very wide bed. Good food and wine at reasonable prices. Good breakfast choice. Comfortable terrace furniture. Helpful , friendly staff.
Review 83:Our accommodation was across the road from the main hotel and therefore not beachside as the promotional material seemed to indicate. To wi fi reception in our part of the hotel did not work.
Review 84:The location close to the beach. The toiletries and a bath were advantages.
Review 85:notice on arrival listed languages in which they were happy to greet guests. Although the list included English the on duty staff when we arrived did not speak English. Not a problem personally but saw some non French speaking guests having difficulty. Restaurant was OK not the usual excellent we have come to expect in France.
Review 86:view, beach access, pool, balcony. Just what we were looking for, a quick break from the rain in the mountains.
Review 87:Poor attitude of reception staff upon arrival. No parking available despite it being advertised. Expensive menu in hotel for main meal. Quality of meal poor. Poor value overall. Room and balcony next to staff quarters and not at all peaceful. Cut our stay short and left after 1 night.
Review 88:Room and dining overpriced. Staff not particularly friendly. Locked the gate access to the beach early - we couldn't work out why as loads of people still dining.
Review 89:Breakfast was good, as was the swimming pool. Location right next to the beach.
Review 90:A very strange bathroom, it was too small so that we had to climb over the toilet to get into the shower. Surprised that, having already paid to be a guest at the hotel, we were asked to pay 15 euros for half a day to use the private beach.
Review 91:the pool, the proximity to the beach and quiet location. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant food was good with a reasonably priced set menu. The room had a good balcony from which we could see the sea and the pool.
Review 92:Everything was just perfect! Quite environment with just 1 minute walk from the beach, great restaurants in 2 minutes walk, very friendly staff, close to lots of places of interest, charming room and balcony, very beautiful place
Review 93:This hotel seems to cater to the people returning year after year, young french families and french seniors but not really to international tourists. The staff managers at the restaurant ,bar and front desk were short and arrogant, very "cliche".
Review 94:We loved the beach location. At the restaurant all the junior staff/waiters were friendly and efficient.
Review 95:Facilities are very old and outdated. The pictures presented on websites doesn't really match with reality. Old key entrance systems, very old bathroom facilities. The pool is very small, and filled with kids. It's extremely hard to get acess to a place around the pool with a towel. Extremely expensive meals.
Review 96:Parking facilities for free, great sea and beach view.
Review 97:Internet very unstable and uncomfortable to access. Finally worked after2 days for apple, but not for other phones. Personal trying to help, butgot annoyed when with us when they good not resolve it.
Review 98:Very clean and the rooms spacious. Free of charge baby bed provided.Directly at the beach. Generally friendly personal.
Review 99:The rooms are nice but would do with sound proofing improvements. You can really hear what goes on in the next room, whatever the time (day or night). Can become annoying...
Review 100:Nice hotel and surrounding, swimming pool and restaurants. Close to the beach and casino
Review 101:Nothing. This place is wonderful and a good bargain.

Review 120:lots of older couples
Review 121:great food and fantastic beach location. v clean anf lovely pool area.
Review 122:Beds were single beds. No doubles
Review 123:Position right on beachside
Review 124:Location, a little too far from the centre of Argeles.
Review 125:Well trained and friendly and attentive staff.
Review 126:Price of spirits 12 euros for a grand marnier
Review 127:Excellent friendly staff and fantastic food for breakfast and dinner
Review 128:While the breakfast was good, we would have preferred more fresh fruit.
Review 129:The heated pool, a spacious apartment.
Review 130:Beds are awful. Worst sleep and terribly uncomfortable. Rooms are very tight.
