Reviews for Hotel de Bourgogne
Review 1:Nothing!
Review 2:The rooms were large, bright, and nicely decorated. The hotel was on a plaza, very well maintained, with antique furniture. The staff was pleasant and helpful.
Review 3:I was there 8 years ago and it doesn't seem like much has changed. While the bathroom is very modern and spacious, even with a very good be, the furniture needs a little updating. Not a real problem considering some much more expensive hotels where I've stayed in Europe that were not as good.
Review 4:The location right next to the old Abbey ruins is great in this historic city for a non-camper like me who is visiting Taize and has a car.
Review 5:Perfect location for the historic town. Room was super and clean. Parking at back of hotel or in a quaint barn. Pretty and comfortable small enclosed garden. Good breakfast. Staff were very friendly. Overall this hotel has lovely character.
Review 6:The location is superb for visitors to the Abbaye de Cluny and the Harras. In a historic building, the young staff was very pleasant and efficient. We would love to go back again, and stay longer.
Review 7:Happy with it all
Review 8:Excellent location, close to everything of this lovely town. Friendly staff, lovely garden to sit in, character to the hotel and the rooms.
Review 9:Second floor does not have an elevator but staff will carry your luggage.
Review 10:The hotel is built into the former abbey. The staff, room and breakfast were all exceptional(room number 1).The location made it easy to venture out for dinner and for the sights. It is also near the national equestrian center. There is AC in the room. It can get hot in Cluny.
Review 11:Location, although an ancient building the interior decoration was pretty, fresh and immaculate. The bathroom again was well appointed and very very pleasant. The staff were very accommodating. The room was very comfortable and although we overlooked the abbey (a lovely view) it was very quiet. There is a large public car park but for 10 euros your car can be parked in a building at the rear of the hotel, under cover, and is only a short walk through the garden which is very convenient and well worth paying for. The hotel carpark must be reserved beforehand as there are a limited number of spaces.
Review 12:We'd advise leaving Room 8's main bathroom door closed and window open at night to avoid an unpleasant drainage smell building up overnight, but this only negative was outweighted by the many pluses.
Review 13:Perfectly located right in the heart of Cluny within a stone's throw of the Abbey and town centre. Great staff and breakfast, Room 8 a perfect family room with separate children's bed room and WC. Atmospheric old-fashioned French provincial hotel.
Review 14:There was absolutely nothing to dislike.
Review 15:This hotel is built over the area of one of the original transepts in the famous Cluny Abbey. The staff were friendly, helpful, and the breakfast was perfect. My room looked over the Abbey, and it was both clean and a wonderful place to simply sit and enjoy.
Review 16:Very frienldy staff that makes you feel welcome. Boutique hotel with the charm of a historical building and providing all necessary comfort. Perfect location for sightseeing.
Review 17:The hotel needs some incentive to revival. Although clean, it is a bit dusty and rusty. Wit a fresh appraoch it could become a real attractive hotel.
Review 18:location next to the old monastery. A bit old fashioned but charming and typical french classical hotel. beautiful restaurant with good food at reasonable prices, good breakfast. room was comfortable with new bathroom facilities. very quiet.
Review 19:Public areas a bit tired but somehow that added to its charm - it felt as if the place hadn't really changed in years.
Review 20:Location is great, a few yards from the Abbey and the centre of an historic town surrounded by beautiful rural countryside. Our room was very large and comfortable. Lovely small garden where it must have been possible to eat lunch in the shade.
Review 21:The owners were very helpful and friendly. It was a pleasure to stay in their hotel. We were only sorry that we could not use their dining room as it was closed on the night we stayed in the hotel.(Not a problem as we were aware that the restaurant would be closed.)We understand that it is excellent
Review 22:Nothing

Review 45:Quality of bedroom Helpful at reception
Review 46:We arrived on an evening that did not serve dinner.
Review 47:Authenticity,
Review 48:Bathtub had no curtain. Pity that hotel restaurant was closed in evening as not many restaurants were open in town at the beginning of June. We went to La Nation, food was average & the guy offered just one course from menu because it was near 9PM.
Review 49:Central location. Good WiFi. Breakfast with yogurt, cereal, eggs, ham, sausage, cheese & fruits. There are 3 possibilities parking: hotel parking for 10Eur, in 50m on square with free night till 9AM, in 200m for free. Helpful lady the owner.
Review 50:the restaurant was good, but too expensive for what we got.Beside,we had to wait too long before getting served
Review 51:the accomodaton was excellente and the staff very kind
Review 52:Staff were incredible and breakfast delicious. We stayed in the family suite which was very comfortable and spacious. Would definitely go again but spend more time on the next trip.
Review 53:Very relaxed and lovely setting which had the local market setup just outside on the Saturday morning. We ate at a lovely little wine bar during the evening that was just across the town square. Friendly staff.
Review 54:We stayed in this excellent little hotel in the heart of Cluny during our 7-day hiking trip in Bourgogne. Excellent location, peaceful, and to-level restaurant!
Review 55:Only hand held shower in bath in our room. Rooms could do with a bit of updating A bit pricey but paying for position? Quite difficult to find even with instructions
Review 56:Position of the hotel in the town. Lovely internal courtyard. Very good breakfast. Friendly staff Very pretty sitting room
Review 57:The really charming, helpful and friendly young woman who greeted us and made us feel at home, despite us being in our sweaty cycling clothes. Beautiful location right in the heart of historical Cluny. The best breakfast we had on a week-long cycle tour.
Review 58:No air conditioning, and we arrived in a heatwave. This was less of an issue than it might have been because it is an old buiding which did cool down over night
Review 59:Location of hotel, Courtyard garden Room quiet and good bathroom
Review 60:I would love to go back and stay at this hotel again. It is an old-fashioned French hotel, with old armoires in the hallway. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean. The breakfast was very delicious. The restaurant was closed when we were there, so we had dinner at the Chateau d'Ige, which was excellent. The hotel is right in the centre of Cluny, perfect for sightseeing.
Review 61:Some of the staff didn't speak English at all. Beds were too firm for real comfort. Raw eggs looking like hard boiled eggs at breakfast and led to a very messy table!!!
Review 62:Fabulous food. Great location. Restaurant, breakfast room and garden lovely. Bedroom looked good and well equipped.
Review 63:It would have been nice to have a kettle in the room but that's just smth we need for convenience with a baby and also no lift so difficult with suitcases etc.
Review 64:Amazing little hotel. Staff were very nice and helpful. Would definitely stay here again if we were passing by.
Review 65:We had a wonderful weekend at the hotel. We had 2 rooms, one with large double bed & en-suite bathroom, the other 2 single beds and en-suite wc and sink. It was freezing cold & rained non stop but the hotel was warm and cozy with hot radiators to dry our clothes! Breakfast was excellent, wide choice, cereal, fresh baguettes and croissants, cheese, hams, eggs & well worth 11 Euros. My girls loved the very friendly cat Chippy ! The owners are very present & friendly, always had a chat with us as we came & went - we were there for a pony competition. I didn't eat in the restaurant but some of our group did & they enjoyed a wonderful dinner. Would definitely return !
Review 66:Nothing! Looking forward to returning so we can eat in their lovely restaurant which was closed the night we stayed.
Review 67:A friendly, family run hotel in the centre of Cluny. Our room overlooked the Abbey and main square, close to the secure garage where we parked the car - great view and very convenient. The hotel cat adopted us making for a very homely stay!
