Reviews for Hostellerie Le Potin Gourmand
Review 1:Very bright lighting in our room, less glaring lighting options would be nice
Review 2:Beautiful building and courtyard , our dinner at the restaurant was very good
Review 3:Lots of stairs up to that room if you have big luggage or trouble, you might want a lower room.
Review 4:The restaurant was absolutely delicious and top gourmet, though not cheap. We would eat there again and they were very accommodating. The room had a fireplace and they made a fire for us before we arrived, very nice. The top floor suite with loft and fireplace was perfect, and very romantic. We did have to make sure we could keep it warm but we eventually got all the heaters to work with the fire. In the morning they brought us a wonderful breakfast, even though a bit after the end of the breakfast hour. Truly tasty and varied, even coming with individual crème brulee along with croissants!
Review 5:Our room was very basic and rather Spartan and in need of some renovation . Another fault could be found at breakfast, where only one girl was working to satisfy every guest. During my visit there were shortages of certain items and one had to wait for extra supplies. I must add not the fault of the one girl on duty she was doing her best.
Review 6:I found the three staff we saw very helpful and friendly, without being unprofessional. The building itself was what you might call unique
Review 7:Unable to exit hotel at 6:45am as no staff present and no coffee or breakfast available !
Review 8:Super friendly staff and held dinner table for our late arrival.
Review 9:The only minor problem is that the bathroom door is not really a door so your privacy suffers a bit from it. Breakfast was nice enough but there could have been a bit more choice (although having said that we are in France and they don't do big breakfast).
Review 10:I chose this place because it used to be an old pottery factory and I like places with a history. The place is beautifully redone and decorated. The interior patio is just so pretty. We stayed in the room 'chalet'. Again we loved the style and decoration and the seating area attached to it. The bathroom was modern and clean. The bed was comfy. Staff was very friendly and abbey is 5 mins away. Plenty of parking spaces and good wifi. (Both free) Would stay there again.
Review 11:The wifi was a bit hit and miss, but frankly after that dinner who needed it?
Review 12:The restaurant was fantastic; the room was amazing; huge. Wet room, very comfy bed, beautiful decor, the actual hotel was very old and quirky, decorated with great art work.. Wonderful staff. Breakfast was superb.
Review 13:Breakfast didn't quite live up to expectations having had a most delicious dinner the night before - it was Ok but not special
Review 14:Our room and bathroom were FANTASTIC - very quirky. dinner was DELICIOUS and staff very helpful and friendly. We stayed in room Clothilde - don't know whether the other rooms are equally amazing.
Review 15:Not one thing.
Review 16:One of the BEST STAYS EVER! Terrific room, exactly like the picture. Splendid bath SUITE; NOT to be believed or missed. OVERSIZED Bed, TOO comfortable! Why did we leave?
Review 17:For a room at almoste 200€ a night the bathroom has no shower, you have to climb four flights of narrow and steep staircase. The room has no shower ( just a bath tub with a flexibla shower head, you can't help puting water everywhere. It not immaculately clean , wi-fi is ectremely slow and sometime on hold. The retsaurant has a nice setting but the food are expansive and very average taste wise...
Review 18:Decoration and size of the room, nice atmosphere and nice looking building
Review 19:Breakfast was expensive(15 euros a person) for what it was. 10 Euros would be more in line. But breakfast is not mandatory.
Review 20:Loved the room, bed and WiFi. Everything worked as it should. Restaurant was great.
Review 21:The incredibly warm welcome by receptionist who took so much trouble on our arrival. All the staff were friendly and polite. Most attractive old buildings beautifully modernised. Good food in lovely surroundings
Review 22:One very small think, we arrived late for breakfast (about 9:50am) and the lady was clearing away. We were only able to get bread, butter and a coffee but were still charged for a full breakfast. I should have contested but I am embarrassed to say that my French is not up to that standard :)
Review 23:The lady who checked us in, she was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was beautiful, as was the room.
Review 24:Nothing
Review 25:After travelling around Provence for 14 days this was hands down the best hotel! The property is amazing and the restaurant was fantastic! Friendliest staff and gracious chef with an equally wonderful town! We will be back soon!!! In the meantime, we can only recommend this hotellerie to everyone!!!
Review 26:We love Cluny, and we love Le Potin Gourmand. The staff are so accommodating, the rooms are beautiful, and the breakfast was divine. This is our 3rd stay, and we will be back again. Thank you
Review 27:Very unusual hotel in an old pottery. Charming all round. Outside stairs to some rooms could be a bit daunting for some I suppose but we thought it was super. Best restaurant on our trip.
Review 28:Breakfast was a bit poor - perhaps we've been a little late (9.30 h).
Review 29:Nice location and building, decoration of the room, cosy restaurant with a wonderful dinner - they gave us a specially decorated table as we had a wedding anniversary (thank you once again, it was a pleasure).
Review 30:We were hosted in a bit of a go down. Original for sure, but really not very comfortable. And immediately next to the garden where people were dining was our toilet. The whole thing gave us a bit of a messy impression. Breakfast for 13 Euro? Really?
Review 31:The location was fine, walking distance from the town and nice for a few days Cluny.
Review 32:nothing
Review 33:unusual but luxurious hotel in the heart of a beautiful town our room was in the stable block, the fabulous bath was in the room - ideal after being caught in a thunderstorm on our bikes restaurant is excellent also
Review 34:Can't think of anything ,
Review 35:Lovely setting and large room .Would have stayed xtra night but booked up .Beautiful meal with best wine on 2 mnth trip .Great location and easy walk to town.
Review 36:The breakfast was poor and there is some conflict between the hotel and the restaurant; there was no parking inside
Review 37:1 - the ancient stone and wood architecture of the hotel compound; 2 - the family bedroom with a Mowgli wall in the children's room
Review 38:We had a wonderful dinner. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Cluny is a very pretty town with a beautiful medieval abbey. The hotel is a very pleasant stroll away.
Review 39:The restaurant was closed on Sunday evening
Review 40:Personalized service, impeccable food, great location and facilities

Review 44:Beautiful hotel, lovely staff, great restaurant.
Review 45:Suite overpriced No pool
Review 46:Location Quirkiness of garden
Review 47:- Good restaurant - Good location, on walking distance from city center.
Review 48:Excellent location in the old town. Very good courtyard restaurant. Quirky old rooms (there are modern ones available). Free parking at the door.
Review 49:Lovely hotel, friendly staff, great location. Our evening meal was superb. Cluny is absolutely beautiful.
Review 50:pictures of room on internet looked great - our room was pretty spartan
Review 51:location, like Cluny, beautiful common area, like onsite art, large room
Review 52:The bathroom was very basic ie a Han held shower with a toilet that was unpleasant
Review 53:The ambience
Review 54:No air conditioning in room and it was hot!
Review 55:The ambiance of the hotel and the food.

Review 64:No internet in room
Review 65:Clean Close to central town - within walking distance Nicely maintained and attractive rooms Nice breakfast buffet (E)
Review 66:Good staff Rooms are really nice in a special enviroment the restaurant is stunning really comfortable for visiting the village of Cluny
Review 67:Hard bed so difficult to sleep at our age!
Review 68:Convenient location and good food
Review 69:Quirky Unique Peaceful
Review 70:Juste splendide!
Review 71:Atmospheric conversion. Room comfortable and restaurant excellent.
Review 72:What's not to like?
Review 73:This is the second time we have stayed at the hotel en route from the UK to Italy - and we liked it so much that this time we stayed an extra night. A quirky mix of historic building with comfortable modern facilities and great food the hotel is worth a detour to enjoy a stay there
Review 74:Our room was medieval meets modern, up a flight of outside steps andthen an internal staircase to a loft. The bathroom had a genuine tubfor a bath and an old mortar for a basin, the loo being hidden in awooden throne. However, the bed was very comfortable and the heating -two fan heaters - efficient once it got going (you have to get out ofbed to start it in the mornings). The mirror is practically useless forputting on makeup or shaving, being rather far up the wall (and I amquite tall), but a combination of the other two full length mirrorsserve the purpose. If you are disabled, there is a lift to some rooms,so do specify.
Review 75:The hotel is a typical French hostellerie having an excellent restaurantattached to a series of farm buildings which have been turned intoaccommodation. A five minute walk downhill into the centre of Cluny, itis quiet and there are plenty of places to sit in the sun, including aloggia overlooking the town. Breakfast is self-service and very French, with bread, croissant, brioche, ham, cheese, fruit juice and coffee/ tea.
Review 76:It got dark when we arrived Le Potin, but the host did wait for us and prepared some suggestions for us to dine. It did save us a lot of time to figure out the place to eat. The room is big, with an extremely large bed. The bathroom is huge, it surprised me with this value can have such a big bath tub and 2 showers inside the room. The garden is nicely decorated, and could have sometime sitting outside to enjoy the environment.
Review 77:The hotel and our room was a wonderful experience. So beautiful and old, but finely decorated and so unusual. Loved, Loved it. Excellent food prepared by the owner we understand. Wish we would have been there longer. Great breakfast and spotlessly clean.
Review 78:Restaurant closed on Mondays
Review 79:large very comfortable room with giant bath in bedroom!!!!!! Delightful place to stay some 250 yds from historical centre, which is a must to see ...take camera.
Review 80:Poor value breakfast, lack of variety and quantity - ran out of what little was available with no apology. Shower would suddenly turn cold whenever used and no response on complaining. Room had dust and cobwebs, bath not clean.
Review 81:Large room that had bath and shower, interesting decor, lovely old building, proximity to town centre
Review 82:We were told everything in Cluny was within walking distance. But, when we arrived, we discovered the hotel was over a kilometre from the bus stop with not a taxi to be found. Not good when one of the party is over 80.
Review 83:Excellent hotel. Beautiful old building. Very picturesque setting. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 84:Charged EUR10 for baby cot where most hotels don't charge for it.
Review 85:Comfortable room, stylish decoration, charming restaurant, friendly staff, excellent stay altogether.
Review 86:Very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. We liked the surroundings of the interior and exterior of this beautifully renovated old building. We had some excellent meals and were lucky enough to be there on the night of the circus. A treat!
Review 87:It was a bit hard for us to find the property due to the place listed in the description was on the other side of the street and our GPS let us arrive there. Due it was raining and already late and dark we did not see the Hotel 1st. There was a map on that place and I could not find the Hotel on the index of the map as well (but could by my fault). So I walked arround (in that rain in the dark) and finally I found a local who showed me that the Hotel was just Close through at the other side of the street.... - just 100m away
Review 88:The facility itself
Review 89:Lack of hot water Manager/chef away. Very young staff left in charge Temporary lack of hot water
Review 90:Ambiance Location Staff gave a party bag to make amends
Review 91:No evening meal available (Monday). Breakfast was very poor. Nocroissants and the only bread came in the form of rolls which had beenmicrowaved from frozen - not very successfully, so hard and dry on theoutside and some still frozen in the middle! We ate in the HotelBourgogne where we had stayed before and which I would recommend overthe misnamed Potin Gourmand!
Review 92:Interesting room in attractive old building. Good location, close tocentre. Helpful person on reception when we arrived who booked us into anearby restaurant for dinner.
Review 93:There was nothing we didn't like
Review 94:The atmosphere; the history; the food; the staff. For anyone who has a strong sense of the past this hotel is absolute perfection.
Review 95:The rooms were very cozy, clean and quiet. The food in the restaurant was nothing short of fabulous, and it's a five-minute walk to the center of Cluny.
Review 96:Parking area needs to be paved or gravelled In the rain gets very muddy. Luggage, car, shoes and room get soiled.
Review 97:Quiet, very comfortable ,food delicious.
Review 98:The toilet was too beautiful to use!!
Review 99:Beautiful and eclectic. A mix of history, comfort and whimsy. We had Clotilde, which was amazing! The food was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Top marks for everything. It was a lovely surprise.

Review 103:Great charm and great bed
Review 104:The owner-chef accommodated our request for a late night meal with an extra special, but light (as requested) gourmet delight!
Review 105:Ambience. Food. Location close to town.

Review 107:very good rooms friendly staff
Review 108:It is a beautiful place to stay. Amazing views from the tower. Great lounge area on the lawn. I will go back.
