Reviews for Hotel Plaza Cavana
Review 1:The cooked side of the buffet breakfast was disappointing but there was a good selection of cold meats pastries breads fruit.
Review 2:Excellent location right on Plaza Cavana Square within easy walking distance of shops restaurants beaches and the Balcon de Europe viewing area. Lovely roof terrace with pool giving stunning views. The staff were very helpful and friendly especially Marta on reception. Our first room even though a Delux Double was smaller than expected. We mentioned this at reception and were moved to a larger room. This was dealt with very professionally by Marta. The second room was excellent. All areas in the Hotel are very clean and the lounge area very comfortable. A truly enjoyable stay. We will certainly return.
Review 3:We stayed here 3 years ago and I commented then how uncomfortable the beds were. 3 years later they are still rock hard to the point the mattress creaks when you move and kept getting pins and needles. In my opinion the beds are the only negative thing I can say about this hote.
Review 4:Great location with helpful friendly staff. Room was clean and fresh towels every day.
Review 5:We were given room 110 which didn't have a view the window opened on to an interior atrium. The bathroom was lovely as it had been refurbished but the main problem was the noisy lift. It seemed to be in use from around 5am and we could therefore not sleep.
Review 6:Position very central
Review 7:We stayed in a lovely room right at the top of the hotel, room 303, with a pool and sea view withe a large terrace with sun loungers. The only thing that spoiled it was room 303 is right over the lift motor room which made a Terible racket each time the hotel lift was used.
Review 8:The hotel is in the centre of town. Rooms are very bright and clean. The staff were all helpful and friendly.
Review 9:Having to pay for parking , staff a little bit unfriendly but other than that really nice place
Review 10:Location very central, room and terrace very impressive .
Review 11:The reception staff where friendly But for the more mature lady who Had a attitude problem when I advised her that we had to leave. Will not stay there again.
Review 12:Location was very convenient.
Review 13:A little noisy in the morning due to traffic at the back alley ways
Review 14:The location was perfect lovely staff stayed an extra night definitely going back Nerja is a wonderful place and can't think of any where better to explore it
Review 15:Perfectly situated hotel with everything you need for a comfortable stay in nerja. Yes it gets a little noisy at weekends but that's to be expected given its central location.
Review 16:The staff on the whole were polite but one or two were a little surly. I would definitely NOT recommend using their car park. The lift from the street is tiny and getting into it from the narrow street was extremely stressful.
Review 17:Hotel very well situated. Rooms are clean and well maintained. The roof terrace is a real plus.
Review 18:The hotel was all tile (no carpeting). Every time one of the guests on the floor opened & closed the door to their room it echoed through the hall and was very noisy.
Review 19:Great location!!! Convenient to restaurants, shops, and beaches. Modern updates. Clean hotel.
Review 20:Wifi not working in our room. Pool only opens at 10 am. Breakfast compared to other hotels of lesser quality.
Review 21:Well located in the centre of town. Clean room and close to the beach. Lots of restaurants in the area.
Review 22:The air conditioner wasnt working! They brought us a fan but they didn't help much. The room was so damp and hot, considering we were there last week of October I'm assuming summer should be unbearable!
Review 23:Great location, very nice and friendly staff, they were patient and helpful when I tried to change my room as it was facing the square on the first floor and it was really noisy also there were no privacy. I found the room facing the patio at the end which was quiet but too hot and damp. We realised this at night and we couldn't bother to change the room again.
Review 24:The location was perfect, ideal for the town centre with all the numerous restaurants and bars. We had a room overlooking the plaza and every evening the place was buzzing.
Review 25:convenient situation in Nerja, room 206 was the upgraded room with access to roof pool etc. before the rest of the rooms and could use at night when pool had shut.
Review 26:I could not even begin to describe how noisy it was and it was constant until 3-4am.We were in room 107 to the front so when you opened your shutters everyone could see you but the noise i have never experienced anything like it and this was October. Apart from the noise the people on the street and the motorbikes made the church bell rang and rang too! Staff were not helpful welcoming or friendly at all apart from one nice young girl that operated the roof top snack bar. The roof top pool is poor too as there are only a few sunbeds very close to each other if you are lucky to get one as only about 12. Breakfast looked bad didn't have it there much nicer and cheaper in the restaurants outside. This hotel offers 10% if you book directly that seems to be the only information the receptionst gives.
Review 27:Power shower and room was clean .
Review 28:There were more than a few steps to our room of which the room advert had said a few. The later you came down to breakfast there wasnt as good a choice
Review 29:The room was lovely and bed was very comfortable.
Review 30:location was great but if you are sleeping on the front of the hotel it is very noisey during the night so would advise for any light sleepers to make sure they have a room at the back
Review 31:location was fantastic in the centre of town
Review 32:No tea making facilities. Very basic. but as we didn't spend much time in the room, that wasn't a problem. We knew about the facilities available and bought our own kettle along.
Review 33:The location is perfect. You walk out the hotel straight into the square of restaurants. Very accessible. Terrace with a pool on the roof was lovely too. Liked the fact that there was a small snack bar which provided some lovely snacks while sun tanning. Will definitely be going back.
Review 34:Not so much a bad experience but we were supposed to get a "Superior" room which in my opinion it was not - it was very basic and quite small. Also it was on the street side and it was very noisy. The last time we stayed there our room was larger and to the back of the hotel.
Review 35:Have been there before and location is ideal. Staff very helpful and pool area is lovely. Didn't eat there so cannot say anything about breakfasts. Very clean.
Review 36:No tea/coffee/kettle facilities in rooms. Very limited parking and only small cars by elevator. Also 10euros a day.
Review 37:cleanliness and standard of room. perfect locality. Ease of check-in and departure.
Review 38:I loved everything but if a room with a sea view was available next time and possibly a double bed that would just be the icing on the cake...........
Review 39:Loved everything about the hotel, perfect location, pool area so relaxing loved every minute.
Review 40:Very small pool, only 12 people allowed at one time, only 11 sun beds which you had to fight for. Get rid of 2 large white beds that you have to pay for then get 6 more sun beds in.
Review 41:Nice little room, great bathroom, A/C good, great breakfast, views
Review 42:Been woke every morning by the noise from the cleaning/maintance staff. We were in room 303 and moved to 302 again because of the noise from fans etc.
Review 43:The location
Review 44:The swimming pool was a tad small in comparison to the photo and you could hear the noise from the town but it wasn't too bad.
Review 45:A comfortable hotel in the centre of town. Beds were cosy and the hotel had everything we required. The roof terrace was a great retreat from the hustle and bustle of the town and staff were friendly.
Review 46:dust under the bed, dirty glasses left for 2 days, policy would need to be reviewed on shower facilities for guests who need to vacate the room by 12 but aren't leaving until later because the only shower available was the cold shower on roof top by the pool. On day of departure we had rain so we couldn't use it
Review 47:Location was perfect because we were in the centre of the town
Review 48:Shortage of sun beds around the roof top pool
Review 49:Excellent location easy to get to the beAch shops restaurants etc value for money the breakfast for 7 euros was fab!
Review 50:Queues to get pool loungers pool is tiny
Review 51:Hidden gem perfectly situated in a bustling square plenty of tapas bars near by and about 5 beaches/coves to choose from
Review 52:The only downside was that there were two large double day beds on the roof terrace that had to be hired and they took up quite a bit of room. They were hardly used as I presume no one wanted to pay an additional fee as the normal sun beds were free. The hotel could probably have fitted another 5 free sun beds in the day bed spaces and allowed for more people to access the roof terrace.
Review 53:Location was great being right in the centre with a great selection of bars and restaurants on the doorstep. It was also a short walk to the beaches. The roof top pool was a bonus too as wasn't too busy when we were there. The staff were friendly and helpful too and our room led straight out onto the roof terrace which was a bonus.
Review 54:Breakfast was awful. Finished at 11am and we got there for 10.15 and everything was cold. When I asked for more croissants, they said there were no more. Tables were not cleaned inbetween diners. Very disappointing, shame as it let down the whole experience,
Review 55:Excellent location, room simple but clean.
Review 56:My bedroom. Was a internal one communicating to an internal court yard and probably external ones were much better
Review 57:Location and keen-to-help staff and the rooftop swimming pool
Review 58:Unfortunately the first room they gave us was too small. The second room had no window with natural light but was larger. The window did however look out onto the corridor. You had to keep the curtains closed or everyone looked in as they walked past. It was like staying in a gold fish bowl. Superior room meant it had an empty fridge in it! We left the hotel two days early even though we paid for a full week. We didn't get any thing back and went and checked into another hotel around the corner.
Review 59:It was very clean and has had a bit of a make over. We have stayed in the hotel a few times before. Mainly only for 3 days. This stay was for a week.
Review 60:Staff were friendly and welcoming and the hotel was in an amazing location for the beach and the Balcon de Europa. Our room was very comfortable as it was air-conditioned and roomy. Everything was spotlessly clean.
Review 61:Noise, the swimming pool is the size of s bath with 8 sun lounges. Advertised indoor pool and gym which aren't open for another year.
Review 62:Loved how clean and comfortable the rooms was, and how close to the main square we was.
Review 63:nothing.
Review 64:free wifi, printer in reception, centre of town so close to everything. Rooftop pool is brilliant, quiet with excellent views to relax with close to hand bar.
Review 65:Absence of bath mat caused me to slip when taking a shower. I sported a fine big bruise below my knee for the duration of the holiday and afterwards. I was provided with a mat once requested. Also, the room allocated was very tight for 2 people. However, it was great to have air-conditioning in the room.
Review 66:It was very well located, right in the centre of all the activities. The room staff and restaurant staff were very pleasant. It was great to return to a fresh room every day.
Review 67:The wifi could have been a bit more stable. The pool is quite small. It's almost impossible to find a parking lot near the hotel during the evenings.
Review 68:Very nice and clean hotel. The staff is helpful and friendly. The location is superb, just some 200 meters from Balcón de Europa.
Review 69:Not enough sun beds! When we arrived it was utter carnage at the pool area, no sunbeds free and people reserving all day with their towels. There is a sign which indicates this cant be done however we saw no one policing the pool area therefore beds were reserved, sometimes all day.
Review 70:Garbage left in containers from previous guest. Road closures made itvery difficult to drive to. Took 1.5 hours to find the hotel, due to oneway road network and police road closures, even when using gps Ended upparking in parking lot about 1 km away and hauling luggage to hotel.Must arrive before 1800 hrs to access hotel with car prior to nightlyroad closures. No parking available.
Review 71:Location was good to the beach
Review 72:Swimming pool was quite small but I prefer the beach anyway which was only a 5-10min walk away
Review 73:Very clean and comfortable room with much needed airconditioning
Review 74:The pool area is a bit small so it was hit or miss if you could get a sun lounger during the day.
Review 75:Excellent location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very clean and well presented.
Review 76:I was sleeping on level 1 and didn't sleep a wink with the noise coming from the lobby ...every night till 4 am was so noisy and every morning at 8am all I can describe it was like a banging noise like a huge fridge door being opened and closed for an hour above us ... Hotel is nice and staff are lovely don't ever stay on level 1 here ..
Review 77:bed was uncomfortable, room 110 bathroom was massive and really nice. The room could have been updated a bit, aircon was slow to produce cool air and the fridge didnt work when you take out key card
Review 78:location was perfect and the cost was very good.
Review 79:Don't have a first floor room fronting the square. Too noisy , to the hotel's credit they moved us immediately to a quiter room.
Review 80:Great location, small but pleasant rooftop pool area, underground parking
Review 81:As can't hang towels on balcony would be good to have a rack, more sunbeds needed, shower not available after vacating room (there was one for use last year)
Review 82:Location, pool, clean, staff very helpful, luggage storage on checking out
Review 83:the pool was a nightmare, it's a very small area and there was battles everyday for sunbeds making for some akward stand offs! Pool food wasn't great, gym jacuzzi weren't in use but no one informed anyone.
Review 84:great location, great showers
Review 85:Reception not helpful. Booking indicated to have 1 large bed but still got 2 double beds. Wrong guidance to hotel parking lot as road closed after 18:00 but did not inform .
Review 86:Location
Review 87:No effort at all to our request for a double bed, we had a concrete wall as a view, and a very noisy generator breaking out on a regular basis. Reception staff were unsmiling and uncooperative . Would not stay here again.
Review 88:people in next room smoking reported it but nothing was done .dining room running out of hot water just after breakfast started
Review 89:easy access to beach lots of eatery,s and beautiful church great for peaceful no lager louts holiday
Review 90:Breakfast could be improved on but if still go back
Review 91:Lovely rooftop pool, clean bedrooms, lovely en suites, amazing location right in the centre of Nerja!
Review 92:Wifi was very poor in our room but fine everywhere else. Not enough sunbeds but obviously that's due to space. People did leave there towels on all day though and go out for the day which was annoying
Review 93:Perfect location, nice clean rooms and nice and cool too.
Review 94:Pool bar was pretty basic and not very interactive with guests. You would hardly know it was there.
Review 95:We loved the location, rooftop pool area, cleanliness of bedroom.
Review 96:Bedrooms on the small size. Had to change as the first bedroom had little or no natural light and was noisy with air conditioning generator noise. Second room much better.
Review 97:Friendliness and spotlessly clean. Standards very well maintained on a daily basis
Review 98:Nothing!
Review 99:The hotel was a 2 minute stroll from the main square of Nerja. Restaurants coffee shops bars etc all very close by. A walk to the beach was only about 7 minutes away. The pool was small but very clean and very quite, while we stayed it was never full during the day. There was also a lovely bar and café. Rooms were serviced each day, rooms were not big with only a small balcony that you could stand out on, but perfect for a few days away.
Review 100:The pool area . Our room being beside the airconditioning unit was noisy but bearable. The snack bar was not opened.
Review 101:The location makes this hotel a real winner. Clean & efficient.
Review 102:Loud closing doors and generally quite noisy because of tiled floors and thin bedroom doors. Unwelcoming reception staff
Review 103:The breakfast staff were excellent. The reception staff we're not as friendly as they should be. The room was unusual having a door onto the communal pool. Food was very good and the price reasonable. Best for people planning to be up reasonably early as the doors are noises when everyone goes to breakfast so sleeping past 8/9 wasn't an option.
Review 104:Our room opened out onto the inner of the building and so there was no view and the generator below was noisy so we had to keep our windows closed. However, we were offered an upgrade at an additional cost.
Review 105:Breakfast, secure parking and helpful staff.
Review 106:Twin beds not a double. Limited space by the pool. Poor wifi in many areas. Some rooms had views of brick walls.
Review 107:Great location in the heart of Nerja. Very helpful staff. Fantastic breakfast. Paid extra for a room with a terrace which was definitely worth it.
Review 108:The sun terrace was small although very nice and some days you couldn't get a sunbed to relax.
Review 109:The location was brilliant, right in heart of Nerja and the staff were very friendly.
Review 110:Parking is a horrible issue. We had to park in the municipal parking garage for 18 euros a day which was a five minute walk to the hotel. A pain with luggage, etc.
Review 111:The staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful. The rooms were very clean and changed everyday. Located in the heart of everything, shopping and restaurants.
Review 112:We were central for all the bars and restaurants and a 10 min walk for Burriana beach. I would recommend a balcony as we had a couple of sun loungers, table & chairs. Would definitely stay again.
Review 113:Internet connection a bit hit n miss.
Review 114:Good location, nice room, helpful staff. Pack your earplugs as the café bars in the square below are quite busy/bustling/noisy into the early hours (And by early hours I mean 3 or 4 a.m. which isn't to everyone's idea of fun). Having said that, I'd stay there again.
Review 115:Wifi in bedrooms is weak - fine on roof terrace & downstairs in lounge reception area.
Review 116:Lovely hotel, in a super location near the Balcon. Very clean, nice roof terrace.
Review 117:Would have been useful to have microwave to heat cold breakfast in dining room
Review 118:Hotel is just few steps from the Balcon on a quiet corner. It is perfect in every way. Staff friendly and helpful. Immaculate in every area of hotel
Review 119:Stayed there twice on our Spanish break both rooms were with views. It did get noisy with the sounds from the street below. The second room we stayed in had a very uncomfortable bed. Felt like we were sleeping on the tiled floor
Review 120:Great location and the staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and the betel had good facilities
Review 121:Loved it all
Review 122:This hotel is in centre of methane just few minutes from Balcon. It us immaculate, staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast very tasty with nice variety.
Review 123:We had requested a double bed when we booked but we got two single beds.
Review 124:The staff here were very friendly. The room was very clean and it had a fridge and a flat screen tv. The cleaner came each day which was great.
Review 125:We requested a double bed and it was two singles pushed together that kept sliding apart. Very disappointing as we had requested a double in our online booking and we also followed up we a phone call. I would not re visit the hotel unless this could be guaranted.
Review 126:'Superior double' room very small, hardly room to walk round bed. Other room doors banging all the time - impossible to close them quietly from the outside. Garage very difficult to access with a family saloon - I damaged mine getting into the car lift, but easier to exit.
Review 127:Location, cleanliness, staff helpful. Good breakfast.
Review 128:I would not recommend this Hotel. The receptionnist was really not friendly (no Hello, no smile). Furthermore, we did not sleep well at all due to the important noice during the night (even if the room was at the top of the building) mainly due to the noice made by the élevator during the entire night.
Review 129:Clean In the city center
Review 130:I would suggest a kettle in the rooms only because I'm a tea junkie.
Review 131:Location location near 3 lovely beaches, views from superior rooms were amazing. restaurants and bars on your doorstep just fantastic.
Review 132:Noise was noticeable in March. In summer it would be so much worse! But if you choose such a central location you need to be prepared for that.
Review 133:Was a very clean and well maintained establishment. Centrally situated.
Review 134:Room 303 room noIsey as near roof top air con machine. We had to move rooms in middle of night.
Review 135:The location Typical Spanish hotel . Service lovely rooms.
Review 136:Wifi a bit patchy in rooms.
Review 137:Booked this for my mother in law, and she liked it so much she stayed an extra 5days. They have done a bit of refurb since i was last there and it looks fresh. Great little town centre hotel.
Review 138:The Breakfast one day was understaffed tables were not cleared did not even bother to stay, tried an alternative venue.
Review 139:Very convenient for all amenities and bars Very good location. Clean and good facilities
Review 140:Nothing
Review 141:Excellent 2nd floor room looking over plaza. Room very clean. Very good choice for breakfast. Good pool facilities on roof but a little chilly to use in February. Just a short walk from Balcon and very good tapas bars.
