Reviews for Relais du Silence Le Manoir Du Lys
Review 1:There was a terrible smell from the open chimney in the whole entrance area when I arrived late evening, which still was there next morning at breakfast.
Review 2:The location is very nice! The building has charme.
Review 3:given a room far from elevators, difficult to find. When you are in your late seventies, you expect some consideration on where room is located.Lack of compassion??
Review 4:beautiful property n the edge of town. overall,a lovely place.
Review 5:Family room fairly expensive when you only have one child. No tea/coffee making facilities in room.
Review 6:Comfortable,clean room with lovely bathroom. Helpful, pleasant staff - especially the waitress at breakfast.
Review 7:The hotel was a bit of a drive into the town so if you wanted to eat out you needed a taxi.
Review 8:The beautiful hotel and the lovely bedroom and bathroom. The food was wonderful Fine Dining. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 9:The room could do with tea & coffee making facility. Breakfast was expensive for a family of 5
Review 10:overall the hotel was lovely, the grounds and the facilities were everything we needed.
Review 11:Were very disappointed in the standard of service in the restaurant. Wrong meal brought to our table and our adjacent table. Waiter has to ask who was having what. Coffee dumped down on table. Food however was good.
Review 12:lovely room, very comfortable
Review 13:A bit pricey Needed a taxi into town of an evening
Review 14:Staff helpful and pleasant Breakfast good Setting good Suite good. Bathroom excellent Pool nice
Review 15:The Wi Fi Connection was not very good in your room as we could not connect unless we went down to the reception area , this needs to be looked at
Review 16:Area , facilities , peace and quiet , decor, staff
Review 17:Very poor WiFi coverage. Poor choice or no choice on the menu for vegetarians.
Review 18:Very friendly staff, great ambience and fabulous grounds. Nice size room - we had a superior room. They remembered us from our stay two weeks earlier on our way down to the South of France
Review 19:Room was very clean however it was very very small. Hangers not strong enough to hold a pair of jeans, storage not big enough for more than one night. Bathroom clean and roomy
Review 20:Restaurant food and wine a little on the expensive side. Closed on Mondays! No tea making facility in the bedroom. Second floor bedrooms could benefit from air conditioning.
Review 21:Great staff. Very friendly and helpful. Excellent food and wine selection. Good pool. Convenient location with plenty of parking. Comfortable rooms.
Review 22:Very peaceful location. Staff were really friendly (without exception). Arrived after a day's cycling and spent a very relaxing couple of hours sat by the pool. Evening meal was fantastic and eaten on the terrace. Amazing breakfast sat in the garden.
Review 23:The Wifi is not always strong enough, and the access quite cumbersome. For mobile phones using SFR there is (nearly) no coverage. With Orange F it works.
Review 24:Friendliness of staff Beauty of the location Additional service provided
Review 25:The decoration of the communal areas (pool, restaurant, reception, bar, etc.) was a bit haphazard and could use updating.
Review 26:Our apartment was large, clean and quiet. Kids loved being on the ground floor with access to the garden. The wonderful dinner was an unexpected treat.
Review 27:No tea/coffee facilities in room or information of how to obtain. No spa facilities for a pamper. No fitness studio/gym
Review 28:The pool and meal at the restaurant is what makes this hotel stand out
Review 29:On arrival we were shown to a small room with only a shower although we had booked a superior room with a bath. After complaining (and producing our booking confirmation with room details) we were, rather grudgingly and without apology, allocated a better standard room, although without a room safe. On Mondays, when the restaurant is shut, no room service is available and the bar is also closed . No tea making facilities in the room.
Review 30:Very good cold buffet breakfast. The staff, with one exception, were very pleasant.
Review 31:THE METAL SLIDING DOOR TO THE BATHROOM ,THAT WORKS THE LIGHT SWITCH AND WILL NOT TURN OFF FOR SOME MINUTES AFTER ITS CLOSED. NOT A HOOK ANYWHERE IN THE BATHROOM
Review 32:VERY GOOD ALL ROUND, BREAKFAST IN THE GARDEN, A QUIET AND RELAXING STAY.
Review 33:Wifi did not work for us and the staff could not figure out why so we had to go into town to get a signal. Hotel layout is different - stairs and dark hallways.
Review 34:Lovely grounds in the country. Very quiet.
Review 35:Lighting in the bedroom wasn't very good and the room was dark. Dinner was disappointing, technically clever, the textures were quite odd and, most importantly flavour was distinctly lacking. It was expensive for what was provided, it looked brilliant but this seemed to be at the expense of the taste. Breakfast was also expensive and quite limited, croissants were actually burnt, which is not usually a problem in France whatever the price.
Review 36:Comfortable bed, as requested they gave us blankets not a duvet. Clean well equipped bathroom, pretty garden, quiet location. Cheerful service at breakfast.
Review 37:Could not fault any service, food or accommodation, the staff are attentive and make you feel as if you are the only person there. Luckily it was not raining as we walked from the accommodation to the restaurant but I'm sure the hotel does have umbrellas.
Review 38:Pleasant dining room, seating side by side on a square table so much nicer than seating opposite. Lovely choice of menu. The amuse bouche, very different and so tasty-a delicious mushroom filled macaroon, yellow of egg cooked at 64degrees with crispy toast finger & an amazing stinging nettle bite.
Review 39:The hotel is too far from town to walk and there is a lack of taxis if you want to have a drink with a lunch/dinner away from base. The restaurant is also closed on Mondays which I hadn't noticed when booking.
Review 40:The co-owner is a delight. Our room was upgraded to one of the pavilions because the restaurant was closed. Sitting on the terrace overlooking parkland was a joy. Breakfast was terrific!
Review 41:No tea making facilities in room; breakfast extra charge, not in room price; nowhere to sit and relax indoors apart from 'library' in restaurant.
Review 42:The Michelin star restaurant is excellent. The setting of the hotel is good.
Review 43:Breakfast (but expensive extras) Dinner
Review 44:Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be wonderful. After travelling all day we just wanted to relax in our room with a warm drink. Mini bar as in most rooms over priced so not used. Restaurant menu in English would be great. These are not complaints, only suggestions to make this place the best.
Review 45:The location of this hotel lovely. We didn't get enough time to explore but I could see little avenues wondering into the forest or a field that were just waiting to be explored. We had a balcony with our room and the night sky was so clear and filled with stars. It was a stunning sight. The indoor pool was a lovely temperature and it didn't take me the usual time to duck my shoulders under. Such a treat. Nice organic toiletries in the bathroom and robes to keep you cosy. Beds were nice and large. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke good English. After 2 weeks of me speaking really bad French it was good to be able to just relax a bit.
Review 46:Room small Bathroom configuration was weird. The ensuite walls were glass and very near to the end of the bed. You had to step up into it. Wifi didn't work in the bedroom. The staff thought there was something wrong with the modem on the first floor, but that didn't help us during our 2 night stay
Review 47:Staff friendly & helpful Excellent dining Excellent wine list Quiet, serene surroundings Indoor & outdoor pool.
Review 48:the swimming pool wasn't open in the morning and it's pictures are a bit misleading
Review 49:Deliscious restaurant with a cosy atmosphere, excellent friendly staff, beautiful location if you are seeking rest
Review 50:Very few dislikes as every effort was made to provide a very welcoming stay. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel without any hesitation.
Review 51:Excellent food with very interesting presentation. Staff very helpful and friendly showing understanding and empathy with the environment. Room with Balcony very well presented and well serviced.
Review 52:Restaurant which was excellemt food was a bit lacking in atmosphere andeveryone seemed a bit too quiet
Review 53:Staff couldn't have been more attentive and helpful
Review 54:I expect / have no doubt that the food was excellent, however a tad expensive for us €45 each for evening meal without drinks and €17 each for breakfast.
Review 55:Great room - fab-u-lous shower room - indoor and outdoor pool - location - friendly staff who offered a lift to the town.
Review 56:Room a little small for 5
Review 57:Com fort
Review 58:Le dessert au restaurant

Review 65:Very quiet hotel near pretty town of Bagnoles de lOrne.
Review 66:NOTHING
Review 67:Having visited before on many occaisions I was greeted like an old friend and treated as such.
Review 68:The wifi could be better
Review 69:The pool, the restaurant, the room, the balcony
Review 70:Helpful and friendly staff. Lovely decor. Good choice of menus
Review 71:Very expensive and not good value for money. The hotel is very tired!
Review 72:Staff were lovely!
Review 73:The setting,the ambience and the staff.Close to Bagnole-sur-L'Orme.A very comfortable stop-over
Review 74:Needs fans or air conditioning for hot weather
Review 75:Swimming pool

Review 82:Swimming pool Beautiful family room Brilliant food and service
Review 83:Everything. Staff and comfort. Room was lovely
Review 84:Staff
Review 85:Very cheerful and helpful staff. Very good restaurant, though as it was off season, not a great many people.
Review 86:Sadly,the very expensive dinner is no longer excellent as it was in the past
Review 87:This is a handy location for the boat from Cherbourg to Ireland
Review 88:No dislikes .. Could have done with coffee facilities in the room
Review 89:Just about everything
Review 90:Very friendly hotel with good facilities and excellent food
Review 91:nothing
Review 92:superb home made breakfast amazing eggs fro breakfast gourmet restaurant location soaps in bathroom
Review 93:Wifi was weak at the bed end of the room - it worked but only just. It was better at the lounge end of the room.
Review 94:The "Lodge of Wood" rooms were ideal - with covered parking below and a pleasant view across the meadows. The room was spacious and convenient. A first class place to stay. The breakfast was good with the best cereal I have ever had.
Review 95:Nothing on the dislike list.
Review 96:The service was excellent in all departments. Breakfast was of excellent quality. Dinner visually was wonderful. The quality was good but at a high price.
Review 97:If I need to mention something: the decor of the room was a bit dated and the breakfast room also could also do with some updating. Other than that perfect location for a relaxing weekend.
Review 98:Lovely surroundings, we had a family suite which was very spacious, very big garden with lovely views.
Review 99:The restaurant is rather pricey but the cuisine and service were first class
Review 100:Set in a lovely garden; comfortable, well appointed rooms. Excellent cuisine
Review 101:While the room was adequate value it was getting a little 'tired' - and no tea / coffee in room; dinner and wine good but expensive
Review 102:Interesting and enjoyable dining and gourmet food experience; attentive yet unobtrusive staff; the location
Review 103:The FOOD! Although classed as an excellent restaurant our meal was disappointing and expensive for what was over salted and tasteless
Review 104:The hotel was quiet and ins lovely area with nice gardens and a wide range of facilities
Review 105:Cheaper rooms were small. Restaurant was closed on Mondays, which was probably fortunate as the Menu was about 100 euros per person.
Review 106:Attractive building with charming terrace and garden. Rooms and beds comfortable. Nearby Bagnoles attractive with many good cheap restaurant including one attached to the Manoir called Le Gayot which had a pretty terrace for dining
Review 107:Loved everything, can't fault it. We don't speak very good French but the staff's English was amazing so made life very easy for us...Fab pool's and food was divine. Def recomment and def going to return.
Review 108:Absence of a simpler and less expensive menu - one may not want a fullMichelin star level meal every night!
Review 109:Delightful staff. Extra effort to ensure that a big family party did notintrude on or spoil things for other guests.Fabulous restaurant, superb cuisine.
Review 110:Staff very unhelpfull all the stay Place was very understaffed Wont be staying again The worst stay in out 3 week holiday in france
Review 111:Room and Hotel decor were ok
Review 112:When we arrived we were told we had been upgraded to one of their bungalows without extra charge. The food, wine and staff were absolutely first class.
Review 113:We stayed just one night on our way back from holiday as Le Manoir is only 1.5 hours drive to Caen. The service was extremely friendly & the dinner was fantastic - it really does justify its Michelin star! The accommodation worked well with children (ours are 11 & 9 years) as we stayed in one of the lodges on stilts. This meant we could all be in the same room (not always possible in French hotels) but the room was screened off to allow us our privacy! A luxurious bathroom & well furnished room added to the luxurious feeling. We would highly recommend Le Manoir but it's not cheap!
Review 114:Fairly expensive
Review 115:Everything absolutely in order when we arrived. Good welcome. Extremelyhigh standards of service and a really good restaurant. Our rooms werefine, but I think were some of the more expensive - windows opening ontoa balcony, decent sized bathroom. Like other reviewers, we noted thatthe local population made good use of the restaurant - there wereseveral local groups and the place was full on Saturday evening.
Review 116:The bedroom was very small. The bathroom did not have a window. The coat hangers were cheap, and of a quality which was not in keeping with the reputation of the hotel. The atmosphere was not cordial.
Review 117:Rooms a little dated, bathroom fairly poor and unpleasant separate toilet which was unventilated and shabby. Good weather helped as windows needed to be open in the room as it felt a little stale. Staff excellent however and tried their best to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Would not return, as I have experienced better value for money on my travels, restaurant was superb although a little pricey, but this of course is due to it's very high standards and excellent service, and clearly has a very good reputation in the area.
Review 118:The setting was stunning and the food sublime..
Review 119:window shutters should be checkedmore often one of ours would not close. bath romm lights did not work
Review 120:The atmosphere was great, so was the staff, patient, flexible, I have nothing bad to say about this place. I definitely recommend it!!
Review 121:from start to finish everything was to the finest order and well worth every penny ,the end to two weeks of average hotel stays superb
Review 122:excellent food in restaurant both at dinner and breakfast
Review 123:The pool area is a bit small.
Review 124:A very relaxing stay with good service, lovely rooms and top class food. The restaurant is really a pleasure.
Review 125:Rooms big enough but not enormous
Review 126:Lovely setting. Felt very at home
The Fine Print
Please note that the restaurant is closed on Mondays (for lunch and dinner).
