Reviews for Auberge Le Ratelier
Review 1:Room shared a toilette with another room. Bathroom was private but the shower handle was broken. Generally our rooms felt a little worn out.
Review 2:Great location in town center, a little farther from the beach though. Very nice exterior of the hotel and nice interior of restaurant. Staff was very friendly and tried to help, but did not speak English.
Review 3:En-suite facilities very compact.
Review 4:Quiet, full of character with onsite parking and a good restaurant, yet only a few minutes walk from the centre of Carnac.
Review 5:Very disappointed. Surly staff and poor accommodation not least as we had to share a toilet with the adjoining room situated in the lobby to the two rooms, although we did have a shower and basin in our room . Having said this, it is true that we might have understood the position if we had studied the reservation document, but we assumed incorrectly, that the usual full en-suite facilities were included. Had we realised that this was not the case, we would have cancelled our booking. However, overall far from impressed and we won't be returning.
Review 6:Nothing,really.
Review 7:Delightfully quirky, picturesque building. Only a few minutes' walk from the town centre. The owner was friendly and welcoming. Our room for 3 was very spacious.
Review 8:Not a bad but a bit weird. The toilet is located near your pillow. Second, as they run a restaurant downstairs, they have clear preference towards that.
Review 9:Actually nothing special to like or to dislike (ecxept one thing...). We did't visit but the restaurant seems to be rather popular.
Review 10:The bread with breakfast , rock hard crust, but maybe that's how it is
Review 11:Friendly owners, good location for visiting area. The food in the restaurant was excellent , we had the 33 euro menu per head but was worth it , would even go for the more expensive menus ,
Review 12:nothing
Review 13:Rustic setting Very comfortable and a sense of history Near the famous Carnac stones but also in the village Parking on site Fantastic restaurant Very kindly owners
Review 14:Cold and haughty welcome Strange layout of family room (toilet located within a former closet - door cannot be closed while seated on "throne")
Review 15:Close to town centre Clean Strange layout of family room
Review 16:Location. Stayed first week in October. Restaurant was closed on Weds night (as were most restaurants in Carnac!) Fine for visiting the area. The little white train ride from Carnac Plage was great.
Review 17:Madame could come across as a little frightening - maybe due to lack of English? The rooms were very small, and the facilities were behind a sliding door along the side of the room, giving no privacy to you and your loved one. We took it in turns to take the dog out when the other needed to go to the loo!
Review 18:The auberge is very beautiful, old, big beams, huge fireplace in reception, original stone stairs, beams and uneven ceilings upstairs, and you immediately felt the history of the place. The food in the restaurant was excellent, cooked by monsieur, and food was served French style - slowly.
Review 19:Staff not very friendly or helpful,no customer service skills displayed in manner, welcome or farewell.no hair dryers available.
Review 20:Very central to Carnac town, restaurants and shops.authentic old French decor, very pretty.plentiful hot water.
Review 21:Not everyone would be comfortable with the shared lavatory, it wasn't a big 'inconvenience' :) for us.
Review 22:Located in a walled garden tucked away near the old town centre, the Auberge Le Ratelier is very French in decor. There is an excellent restaurant on the ground floor which we didn't sample but would be recommended. The room was charmingly furnished and comfortable even though the lavatory was shared with the room next door.
Review 23:Dinner was the most delicious meal we've had in France for many years. Very good value. Breakfast was the best value on our trip- lovely coffee and hot chocolate.
Review 24:the rooms are not expensive but they were smaller and more basic than anticipated. Although shower en suite, it was separated from the small bedroom by a concertina leatherette door and the space in both was very tight indeed.
Review 25:lovely restaurant and food (best in town), very nice owner who was really helpful and kind. Safe car parking right outside, lovely old building.
Review 26:Great experience, authentic country ambiance, fine cuisine, professional and attentive without being pushy. Mme La Patronne graciously arranged a taxi from Auray due to a train strike, and stayed up to welcome us after midnight. Charming small rooms. Carnac is a lovely spot.
Review 27:Well located, lovely old building. The food and wine is excellent and priced accordingly.

Review 41:The Place
Review 42:Staff were great. Setting was fantastic. Food in restaurant was superb.
Review 43:Very friendly and accommodating reception from Mme Goyet, the owner. Lovely (small) rooms in a typically classy French auberge experience. Carnac is a pretty little town with many places to walk on interesting flower-lined streets, or down to the Carnac Plage (the beach), or, best of all, around the stones. The Ratelier restaurant provided excellent dining, and helped make the stay really memorable. The bus from the Auray gare SNCF (Ligne 1; 20 mins; 2 euros) stops in Carnac Ville, 100 m. from Ratelier.
Review 44:Great place to stay and friendly staff. My french is terrible and they were very accomodating of this. The facilities a very nice and typically french. 5* luxury it isn't but very quaint, clean and lovely it is!
Review 45:Room a bit small and needs a headboard and bedside tables on both sides of the bed.
Review 46:The food was excellent with great attention to detail. Auberge is open off season and looked after us very well.
Review 47:Not really bike- friendly-- no secure place to put them at night. Staff is not overly friendly. The bathroom in the room was a bit odd.
Review 48:Lovely room. Very good breakfast. Allowed early afternoon check in.
Review 49:Breakfast, for the price, could have included more than just bread - and I mean only bread. Fruit and yoghurt would have been simple additions/alternatives to the muffins for example.
Review 50:nice quiet location. Even the busy and popular restaurant was quiet by 10. Easy to get to a few shops and little bistros by foot, and a few minutes by car for the beach and the stones.
Review 51:Electricity outlet was not enough. We needed to dry our hair after the shower.
Review 52:Very clean. The great restaurant and no need to drive out for going to bed after the dinner.
Review 53:WE had a poor bed we fell into each other in the whole in the mattress. We were very cold. Only a blanket and cover. Toilet outside the room sharing with another room.
Review 54:the beautiful old farmhouse from the out side. Excellent breakfast.
Review 55:Carpet in the room was grubby and the radiators in the room only seemed to come on in the morning.
Review 56:The ambience of the place was lovely and the food and service excellent
