Reviews for Le Clos Saint-Etienne

Review 1:An exhaust fan would be a good idea in the bathroom. No fridge in the room if that is a requirement, but his kitchen was open to everyone.

Review 2:Francis Made us fell like it was a home away from home.Breakfasts were very tasty, homemade yoghurts & jams etc.

Review 3:This superb little B & B, (it only has two rooms), is situated along a narrow lane in the heart of old, historic Chinon. Each room has its own front door leading straight onto a lovely walled garden and guests can come and go as they please. Francis, the host, is most welcoming and engaging. He speaks excellent English but was happy for us to try out our rusty French on him. The breakfast he served was the best and most generous that we've ever encountered in France, featuring home-made jams, cakes, yogurts, and individual fruit bowls as well as an assortment of fresh breads and croissants from the best boulangerie in Chinon. Francis also offers secure, gated parking a short walk away and this is well worth the extra 3 euros involved.

Review 4:Difficult to find, in very narrow mediaeval street. Could be a problem with a wide car. Secure parking some distance away.

Review 5:Located short walk from centre of ancient town. Host Francis was exceptionally helpful and attentive.Superb breakfast

Review 6:Very friendly welcome. Good location in the heart of old Chinon. Large comfortable room and excellent mostly home-made breakfast. Good safe parking closeby.

Review 13:A warm welcome of the host and his passion for cars and Chinon. The place was really hidden in the shadow of the church. An eye for details when offering breakfast.

Review 14:Beasier prepared for tricky driving in the narrow streets of Chinon.

Review 15:Such a warm & friendly reception, well placed for the town centre, if driving you must reserve parking. Breakfast was great, fresh fruit, yoghurt, breads &jams, etc.

Review 16:bike riders prepare for amazing downhill ride to the house. This could be a plus!

Review 17:location, graciousness of the hosts, appointments of room, neighborhood, quaintness of the home, comfort of the beautiful garden, ease of bike storage, proximity to the old town

Review 18:Owner was very helpful and welcoming; Room was clean, smart and very comfortable, facilities excellent; very good breakfast. Location fantastic, in a very quiet corner of this amazing ancient town. A small but excellent B&B rather than a hotel - highly recommended.

Review 19:Nothing at all!

Review 20:A very warm welcome, excellent location and infrastructure in the center of Chinon (don't forget to book a parking space), a very sympathetic host (who makes unforgettable jam and interesting conversation), and a perfect starting point to explore the "Val de Loire". We'll come back!

Review 21:We had such a warm welcome here. The garden room was beautifully decorated and comfortable, with lots of little touches, and a spacious and very well appointed shower room. Breakfast was one of the best ever, with homemade yoghurt, preserves and bread, fresh fruit, juice, and croissants...delicious, and all enjoyed on the private terrace. It is a short walk into the centre of Chinon and we found a parking space in the square right outside. We would definitely stay there again.

Review 55:Nothing!!!

Review 56:Everything. It was in the perfect location, the rooms were beautiful, with so much attention to detail. Our host was fantastic, and went out of his way to accommodate our arrival and needs. I would return here in a heartbeat!

Review 57:I think that a hair dryer in the room would be great

Review 58:We stayed just one night with Sylvie and Christophe on our way through to the Pyrenees. The house is a wonderful old home with a surprising enclosed courtyard ,our room was well appointed , clean and the bed comfortable. The evening meal which represented a true host table was marvellous, accompanied by their own wines - all in all we loved the time , although short, we spent here and want the recipe of the Chicken recipe please:-)

Review 59:Wifi access at every place we stayed, including here, was not always reliable. And we had trouble getting our door to lock, not that there was any real danger since the courtyard access was by key as well.

Review 60:Terrific location just across from St. Etienne church, two minutes to where the smaller square and maybe five to the larger town square. Ten to fifteen-minute walk from the station; Francis was aghast that we had walked when he could have picked us up and insisted on driving us there when we left. It really wasn't that far! Francis was a wonderful host; the room was spacious and clean, as was the bathroom. Excellent breakfast with homemade jams, yogurt and walnut bread made by Francis himself. He really was a wonderful host.

Review 64:I didn't see any shampoo in the room, but it was okay because I had some.

Review 65:Comfortable room Helpful owner- let us store bicycles in the garage and even let us do laundry. Great breakfast with breads, homemade yogurt and jams.

Review 66:Even for fellow Europeans accustomed to driving on narrow streets, finding and approaching Le Clos Saint-Etienne with the car was achallenge.
