Reviews for Parador de Nerja
Review 1:Evening meals horrendous. Staff at departure time reception arrogante. Room a bit dated needing renovation Five Euro for in-room tea materials joke!
Review 2:Not many!
Review 3:There are rooms with sea view in the garden, but the staff didn't want to tell me if I could get one. The only way possible to assure sea views is to pay for the most expensive rooms.
Review 4:Wonderful location, helpful pleasant staff. Great breakfast. Fun elevator that goes down to the beach. Parking convenient. Well marked signs coming into town to find the Parador.
Review 5:dinner Christmas Eve very disappointing both in its quality and execution. My friend was sick I ate very little so did not have this added problem. No atmosphere no music worse Christmas Eve in ages. Decided to eat outside the Parador thereafter which was fine.
Review 6:location peaceful walking distance to town view from room
Review 7:Pillows on beds not v comfortable as were chairs in rooms
Review 8:Great position and great views. Breakfast good. Had special meal on 24th which was ok but too many items and too many different flavours to cope with.
Review 9:Location is on the cliffs overlooking the beach with beautifull sunbathing areas and a swimming pool. Our room was large and clean. It had a balcony with glorious beach views. From the hotel we could walk into the old town with its maze of streets shops and eating places. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 10:Staff very friendly and helpful, moved us immediately to a different room on request after family with young children arrived in room next to ours making considerable noise. Staff also let us leave our car in the car park for several hours after we checked out of the hotel.
Review 11:I was disappointed to learn on arrival that the swimming pool was closed. I swam in the sea so the temperature was fine for the pool to have been kept open. Also although pleased to see the tea making facilities in room I was disappointed to learn that it was 5 euros to order the service, which was the tea bags required to make tea. Luckily I had brought my own.
Review 12:Lovely sea view from our balcony. Also liked lift to beach.
Review 13:Small slug in my salad/sandwich. I didn't complain although the waiter noticed and still charged.
Review 14:Position and grounds were excellent and the room was spacious and comfortable.
Review 15:Nothing
Review 16:Loved the view from the balcony. The beach is just a trip down in the hotel lift and is sandy and lined with bars and shops. Breakfast is very good with a great choice.
Review 17:I cannot think of anything . We were staying in a standard room and for the rate paid everything seemed good. Maybe better ventilation in the toilets/bathroom would be good but that does not seem like an easy task to achieve.
Review 18:Friendly and helpful staff . Your four star status is genuine , you are not just trying to get the 'ticks' but are providing genuine service . One of the best places we have stayed in and for a very reasonable rate. Excellent gardens and views. We came to see the caves but would actually consider coming back just to spend a relaxing few days in your hotel.
Review 19:The pillows are poor and gave us neck ache. Its time Spanish hotels realised that sausage pillows are uncomfortable. We had restless nights
Review 20:The location and ease for parking and lift to the beach. Views of the coastline and large open spaces for the pool and sunbathing.
Review 21:Location and helpful staff lovely views would stay again a tiny bit in need of an update but that didn't worry me, it was spacious and pristine ( I am fussy!)
Review 22:Having stayed in about 25 Paradores it is the first one we have ever paid for parking. We are Amigos though and got a reduced rate.
Review 23:The location of this Parador couldn't be better. The gardens are immaculately kept and the view from the sunbathing area over the sea is second to none. The building is modern in style and feels more like a resort hotel than most of the historic ones we have stayed in. However it is at the coast and seems fitting. The rooms are spacious with lovely balcony. It is the first time I have found a kettle in the room which must be down to the large number of UK guests. The tea package seemed a bit expensive. We always take our own and with a fridge for milk it was ideal. There is a supermarket a few meters from the Parador. We didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on the food. The hotel is walking distance to the town centre.
Review 24:Concierge was less than helpful. Asked him about bus schedules and he told me to use the computer in the lounge. For the price of the place, I really expected more service from him.
Review 25:Lovely grounds, located on a cliff above the Mediterranean. Elevator to beach and restaurants. Very comfortable room. Beautiful patio restaurant. Great breakfast!
Review 26:We felt the hotel lacked any degree of quality which is what we believed we were paying a premium price for. The rooms were very ordinary and clinical. The staff were courteous but lacked any warmth.
Review 27:Reasonable location and private access to the beach.
Review 28:Food in restaurant tended to be cold especially fish and vegetables. Spoiled some excellent dishes.
Review 29:Beautiful hotel. Perfect setting. Wonderful facilities. Spotless.
Review 30:Very slow service in the restaurant. Limited choices for half board evening meal. Rooms too basic
Review 31:Location No music around the pool Lovely pool Garden area
Review 32:Booked half board which seemed good value, but the evening meals were very disappointing. Lukewarm, tasteless soup followed by overcooked and inedible lobster paella first evening and mediocre meal the second evening - pasta poor and deserts indescribably bad. Poor choice of wine. Stay here by all means but stick with B & B. Many other excellent restaurants in Nerja.
Review 33:Beautiful location with convenient parking. Hotel traditional glass and concrete structure of the 'Franco era', which sounds awful, but actually works very well. Beautifully tended gardens and lift access to beach. Good size room with balcony and sea view. Very comfortable beds and excellent bathroom. Breakfast self service but with excellent choice, both hot and cold.
Review 34:The view from our room was stunning. Within walking distance of Balcony de Europa and many restaurants. A vibrant night life very friendly. Very easy to find well signed posted. Friendly staff and always ready to help
Review 35:At times there seemed to be a lack of information concerning key services such as the disabled acsess to the private beach which I (as a wheelchair user) was not aware of .A short course is required before guests can use it.A minor detail though.
Review 36:Attentive staff.Stayed on a B&B basis.Breakfast was very good although the choice of food towards the end of the week seemed to be reduced for some reason unknown. The quality of the menu from the restraunt was excellent and the outdoor dining area is superb having views of the sea and mountains in a tranquil setting.
Review 37:We loved everything about this hotel, they food for breakfast was fantastic great for Coeliacs plenty of GF options. Staff were always so helpful. We really could not fault anything there.
Review 38:Slow wifi from the Tom terrace.
Review 39:Everything was wonderful- location views, staff, food was delicious, overall great value for the money. Felt like paradise.
Review 40:The rooms, although very clean and well equipped, are visually tired and in need of a "re-vamp".
Review 41:The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. The gardens, pool and view is amazing!
Review 42:Bedrooms badly need to be upgraded. Decor in rooms was a poor 3* however bed was ok. Bathroom was not properly cleaned and with old decor it was not anywhere near the standards of the rates being charged
Review 43:Location was good and public area eg pool area was very good
Review 44:Knowing that Paradores are famous for their great breakfast buffet (and very expensive one, it's 18 euro per person!) we expected more I suppose.... it was not bad at all, but the choices were a bit limited and the quality of food not as high and we thought it would be.
Review 45:The hotel and it's surroundings are absolutelly stunning! The swimming pool area and the gardens are very comfortable and quiet calm, although we were there in high season. The views from the gardens onto the beach are really beatutiful! Our room was spaciuos and very comfortable, and bathroom, though a bit outdated, was a good size one and also very comfortable. The hotel is situated within a walking distance from the city center and the walk is a very nice one. There are plenty of quite cheap bars with home made food in the hotel area. The lift to the beach is great too!
Review 46:The location of the hotel being a 10 minute walk from town and overlooking burriana beach was perfect. The head waiter was very accommodating when we didn't like anything off the a la carte menu the chef cooked us something different.
Review 47:Flooded bathroom . Staff informed twice. Foul smell in bathroom. Broken hairdryer that did not work. Staff informed. We do not think we should have had to pay full price. No reduction offered. Very disappointed.
Review 48:Views fantastic. Bedroom nice
Review 49:There was nothing we didn't like
Review 50:Everything about the hotel was excellent. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room and the food were very good indeed.
Review 51:We had a late evening flight. Late checkout not available due to volume of guests. Post check out facilities offered to us were very poor following a 5 night stay. Would expect more from a four star hotel. Have certainly felt more valued on camping holidays!!!
Review 52:Nice hotel, good situation, clean, lovely pool area and gardens. Lift to beach. Staff very pleasant.
Review 53:peaceful calm luxurious.very friendly and helpful staff good quality food and wines as we have come to expect from every parador we visit n
Review 54:Did not like the last 2 minute stretch of walk back to hotel as a bit lonely in dark. Though there were usually a few people to follow behind...
Review 55:Excellent location...beautiful garden with pool etc. Treated to glass of summer wine every lunchtime has I lay below shady tree. Very clean tidy beach below with easy lift access..(walk down if you wished is short)Shops restaurants. % min walk into Balcon de Europa square with restaurants...shops...outdoor music...superb....very nice relaxing spanish experience.
Review 56:I booked this room for 2 night as a gift for my daughter on her wedding night. I could only get a standard room. They loved it and had a sea view. They said everything was perfect.
Review 57:For the price, thought the Restaurant meal choice was very limited, particularly when requiring gluten free food.
Review 58:The location of this hotel is wonderful, super views and a lift down to the beach. Fantastic Breakfast - superb choice.
Review 59:We loved the location. An elevator ride down to the beach and a 10 mins walk to the Balcon de Europa. We had very nice relaxing meals with a beautiful ocean views at the hotel.
Review 60:The breakfast was pretty mediocre especially for the price ... The only cereals they provided were the tiny Kellog's boxes that you give to children ,
Review 61:The location and the views from our balcony ..The grounds were lovely too.
Review 62:AC wasn't very effective. If you open the door for ventilation the AC stops. Quite a lot of noise from other guests with the door open. They should stop people smoking on their balconies.
Review 63:nothing of note.
Review 64:Excellent location. Good standard 4 star hotel. Restaurant dinner worth taking - very nice. Good breakfast. Staff very professional & accommodating.
Review 65:I would say perfect hotel and service
Review 66:Great breakfast choices lift to beach no noise heard. from other guests at all so room very peaceful fab balcony and sea view worth extra
Review 67:Request for double bed had been ignored and although it wasn't difficult to arrange a change I would have preferred to not have had to do this.
Review 68:Grounds and view over the beach. Friendly helpful staff
Review 69:Staff at desk need to be more attentive and friendly. The cleaners were more friendly. I passed the front desk on a few occasions and staff hardly noticed me. My husband commented which is unusual for him to notice those sort of things. Far too expensive for what you have to offer
Review 70:The position of the hotel
Review 71:very slow service at dinner with one of the head waitors, uneven quality of meals, unacceptable late check out policy (lunch at hotel obligatory, 60 EUR, even if you leave at 1400 and the restaurant only opens at 1330!) very limited opening hours swimming pool. (from 1100am, luch break, and pm only untill 1800)
Review 72:location, breakfast, parking facilities
Review 73:Not applicable.
Review 74:Breakfast was superb although hit food could have been a bit hotter. Great way to start the day before enjoying the sun in the garden. Cleaning staff particularly efficient and friendly.
Review 75:Everything was delightful.
Review 76:The view over the sea and the turquoise pool was just beautiful. The elevator down to the beach felt like a real luxury. All the staff were so helpful and pleasant.
Review 77:Bit bureaucratic on arrival and departure. Pool closed from 2pm to 4pm in low season.....
Review 78:Location and gardens, easy walk into Nerja which is very unspoilt.
Review 79:Dinner was very disappointing both menu and food quality, plenty of other good choices in Nerja to eat. Reception staff cold and aloof, parking at Paradore expensive
Review 80:Loved the location, breakfast buffet, housekeeping and resaurant staff. Rooms were comfortable and clean, views from rooms superb
Review 81:Large room with enormous bed, great bathroom, everything very clean. Excellent but pricey breakfast, however we got a great deal through Booking.com (excluding meal option) which more than compensated. Although we didn't eat in the hotel, having already booked elsewhere, the evening meal menu looked very good and the dining room was smart and modern. We will probably eat in, when we stay again.
Review 82:The room was very basic for a 4* hotel, the bed very firm. There was only one rather thin pillow. There were no face flannels in the bathroom. I requested a walk-in shower but it was an over-bath shower, fortunately the side of the bath was not too high for my disabled husband to negotiate.
Review 83:The location of the hotel is excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. It was clean and tidy throughout.
Review 84:Its getting a bit tired and shabby! You have to pay for the car park - I just don't like this practice!
Review 85:Location is perfect. Calm and peaceful bar area. Very helpful reception staff.
Review 86:No tea/coffee makings in room Somewhat dated feel Beds adequate but not very comfortable
Review 87:Position with vista Car park Breakfasts Helpfulness of staff
Review 88:Soundproofing could be better. Could hear a little too much of people in next room. Not their fault.
Review 89:Stunning location, fabulous views from room, spacious terrace, huge beds, lovely grounds, lift access to beach.
Review 90:Male staff were distant, not interested. I thought they were affected by wearing army uniforms. Our room never saw the sun
Review 91:Room was extremely comfortable and well equipped
Review 92:Tea/Coffee facilities missing in our room. Staff unable to rectify the situation in time for our departure. An apology from the recepionist didn't really help.
Review 93:Nicely appointed room of usual Parador standard.
Review 94:Like other reviewers have stated, the parador, like so many others we have stayed in, needs a renovation. Furnishings in room old and worn. Bed comfortable though.
Review 95:I liked the location near the edge of town since it was peaceful and uncrowded, but within easy walking distance of town and restaurants. Being on top of a cliff provided great views of the mountains and the beach. The grounds were very pretty. We had a third floor balcony overlooking the pool and sea. I liked the outdoor breakfast patio. Breakfast was very good with a lot of choices.
Review 96:Very poor Wifi access in rooms, despite it being advertised as having wifi everywhere. About the only place I could get reception was in the bathroom.
Review 97:Lovely views. Modern facilities. Easy access to beaches and town.
Review 98:Dinner a little disappointing and for that reason we only ate in the hotel on one night
Review 99:Excellent location and superb facilities. Lift from garden to beach a big plus for those less able and elderly people. View from balcony. Staff were efficient and very helpful. Excellent of fruit etc. for breakfast.
Review 100:Can't think of anything- receptionist not particularly welcoming/ friendly but other staff lovely if a bit formal
Review 101:A first class hotel-well worth paying the extra for a sea view with balcony-view/ gardens/ pool/breakfasts were all excellent also fab bath towels and toiletries I felt relaxed immediately -also quiet despite the local funfair-I would definitely recommend to couples and mature singles-not so sure how it would suit young families-a haven of peace and tranquility
Review 102:Bedroom was drab. You can hear all lot of noise from other bedrooms, TV's noise & banging doors make sleep a bit hit and miss. This hotel is living on past glory days. You think it's a first rate hotel but you start to see the cracks after a few days. It says its a 4star but bedroom's, bathrooms and lack of sleep with noise I wouldn't give it anymore than a 3star. Sunbeds are terribly uncomfortable, need to be changed. @240€~£190 night that's an expensive mistake to make. Have to think long and hard before you lay this sort of money out at a hotel living on its past glory days.
Review 103:Grounds and staff were very good.
Review 104:Nice rooms with fantastic views. Great breakfast buffet open until 11am. Fabulous and huge grassy 'oasis of tranquility' garden with plenty of sun-loungers, swimming pool and even a lift down the cliff to the buzzing beautiful beach. Easy walking distance down to the wonderful town centre of Nerja with dozens of excellent restaurants. Very nice helpful staff. Easy walking distance down to the wonderful town centre of Nerja with dozens of excellent restaurants.
Review 105:For a hotel of this price (€200/night), we could have expected professional staff and at least polite staff; we could have expected bedrooms to be serviced twice a day; we could have expected the swimming pool to be available before 10AM; we could have expected the reception to welcome guests with a little more warmth (e.g. when we asked to leave something in the hotel safe, according to the rules of hotel, we were told with a snarl 'don't you have a safe in your bedroom?' When we wanted to to book a ship for the day, the receptionist sent us to the harbour, when we could have expected him either to give us the telephone number or to offer to call the rental company himself. Generally speaking, from top to bottom in this hotel we faced 'perfect civil servants' making nice smiles to help us swallow the pill.
Review 106:The location was absolutely exceptional. Breakfast was more than correct, pity that the staff were useless.
Review 107:The only thing I didn' like about the Parador de Nerja was having to leave.
Review 108:Loved the area, safe easy to get around. I walked to everything, I do like to walk but nothing is too far away. Even the beautiful beach, with lift access it couldn'T have been more convenient. Just be careful because the lift closes @ 9:00 I was having drinks & tapas, lost track of time & had to walk up an extremely step hill.
Review 109:Food indifferent not to standard expected. Indifferent reception. Lack of kettle and ironing board and iron
Review 110:View from hotel.Open air dining.Access to beach
Review 111:Not Worth the Money. The women in the reception is not friendly at all. I that kind of a hotel you have ti be more proffesional.
Review 112:Perfect location. Excellent breakfast.
Review 113:The staff in the garden/pool could have been more attentive - there was little service or offer of refreshments during our stay.
Review 114:The location was the best in Nerja as it was central for the beach and the town. Our facilities were perfect and made for a very relaxing stay. The choice of breakfast options was the best ever encountered.
Review 115:Rooms could have been a bit more luxurious and have improved decor but couldn't really fault anything else.
Review 116:Loads of sunloungers with and without parasols and brilliant good sized pool so could actually swim proper lengths. Great towel service, can swap for clean/dry ones when you like. Great location for view/beach/restaurants etc. Super powerful shower and very friendly/helpful staff. Great choice of breakfast eaten on beautiful breakfast terrace.
Review 117:This hotel is a hidden gem, a little piece of paradise. The green garden with a wonderful view over the mediterranean sea. Tasty breakfast at the terrasse.
Review 118:Bed was too firm!
Review 119:Great location between beach and town, the gardens and sheltered sea view terrace help to maximise enjoyment.
Review 120:Friendly staff ,menu extensive
Review 121:Location
