Reviews for Abalys Hotel
Review 1:We arrived on a Sunday to Roscoff on the boat very early in the morning. As it was sunday everything was closed. We drove on to our hotel in Brest. We were unsure what to do as both our kids were tired cranky and hungry.I decided to ask at our hotel if early book in was an option ,expecting the worst! But the lady, Olivia, who was on reception was soooo nice. She let us in to the room early. She even let us buy breakfast even though it was finished. The apartment was outstandingly beautiful. The facilities were first rate and the location was perfect!I would highly recommend this hotel and its very friendly staff.
Review 2:Not really a complaint the room was small but had ever thing we needed and missed from other hotels stays
Review 3:This hotel was within walking distance from most locations, it offers friendly staff and clean comfortable accommodation, it was great to have a kettle in the room with refreshments but most unexpected was the computer in the room, for a 2* hotel it offered more that many 4*. very impressed.
Review 4:None - but would have been nice with free parking.
Review 5:Extremely helpful and accommodating staff. Central location for a stay and room had everything you need. Highly competive room rate.
Review 6:Really lovely welcome to the hotel, with lots of tourist information Facilities such as international TV channels and a computer in the room Good location for the train station and the town centre
Review 7:Nothing, all was really nice and would be happy to stay here again.
Review 8:Great little hotel for a couple of nights - has everything that you need to enjoy a relaxing visit or quick business trip.
Review 9:From check in to departure the service was exceptional. The rooms were very tastefully decorated, all with computers and flat screen televisions. The bathrooms had large baths and were spotlessly clean. This is only a 2 star hotel, but you wouldn't think so! 5 star service. Excellent. We will recommend it to all our friends.
Review 10:I left the message to hotel, asked them if it's possible to put a rose in the room. They did it and put more in the room, small flowers that I don't know the name. And room is bright and cosy, perfect for couple to live in for several days.
Review 11:-Great Bed -Great Breakfast -Clean -Water heater for tea + teabags provided and biscuits -Perfectly quiet, I slept better than at home Hats off to the super friendly staff You can walk to the hotel from the train station. -Wifi works great etc etc This is the place to book.
Review 12:Central location, many bus stops around (e.g., easy to get to Telecom Bretagne with a single bus), train station just 200 meters away (important after a tiring travel from Paris), quite nice restaurants just around the corner. That was my second stay in Abalys, and it's nice to see the hotel has been refurbished since my first stay (5 years ago). The wi-fi worked perfectly for me (they have a router at each floor - again, it's nice to see they care about such simple things). The breakfast is quite simple (not a big choice), but you don't miss anything. Very good value for money. Just don't expect luxury, this is a nice 2-star hotel.
Review 13:We stayed in the hotel's very spacious flat, which would be ideal for a family. The staff were delightful and informative, as well as very welcoming.
Review 14:nothing
Review 15:The room was lovely, the staff were really nice. The bathroom had a bath in addition to a shower. ~There was free Wi-Fi and a computer in the room and also a plug socket for British plugs. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Review 16:bathroom is rather compact / small, but good enough for one person
Review 17:great location friendly and very helpful staff cosy, personal atmosphere nice breakfast international TV channels (which is rare in France) staff speaks English very well (also rare in France)
Review 18:Nothing
Review 19:Location, helpful and friendly staff, good breakfast, wi fi terminal in the room as well as free wi fi to use with own device, comfortable good sized room. Very well priced. Don't know why it only rated a 2 star.
Review 20:Staff couldn't do more to help, very friendly and pro-actively happy to practise their English with us. Very close to railway station and tram links, most of the city easy walking distance too.
Review 21:Great location for exploring Brest: easy walking distance to the waterfront, bus station, shopping area, etc.Staff was very friendly and helpful. Tiny elevator was just the right size for 2 people and a bit of luggage. Sure beat carrying stuff up 3 flights of steps. Just a good old-fashioned European style hotel.
Review 22:The staff were so friendly and helpful
Review 23:excellent reasonably priced hotel with caring attentive approach
Review 24:Great location, helpful staff, comfortable bed, great value for money

Review 34:No safe
Review 35:Excellent location. Spacious well equipped apartment. Extended breakfast hours. Parking across the street.
Review 36:In the middle of town.
Review 37:Narrow room. Far from the castle
Review 38:More or less comfortable
Review 39:Parking
Review 40:The personal were so rude, the room and the toilets were so small and uncomfortable. The WiFi was very good and the location too.
Review 41:Ideally located to tgv and shops. Room was better than we expected.
Review 42:Great nights sleep
Review 43:Size of the room, bed, character of the hotel, location, very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 44:Location, cleanliness, free computer access in room
Review 45:No fridge or safe
Review 46:Bright, sunny room. Lovely outlook onto park. Helpful staff.
Review 47:Very friendly staff, excellent facilities, very good value for money.
Review 48:We got a suite for 80 euro. Breakfast was excellent and the location too. The staff...the best staff we ever had. Even the hotel staff in our wedding was not so friendly. When you go there, and I am sure you will, say Hello to Anthony and Marie Take the city train to the bridge, above the port and when sun sets down...give your wife or girlfriend a kiss... the one I got on my wedding 42 years ago ;)
Review 49:Excellent location with a staff that went above and beyond expectations. Everyone we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be my choice when travel takes me back to Brest.
Review 50:Computer and WIFI connection in the room was excellent. Great location near the town centre and railway station. Clean, comfortable but small room. Very helpful staff at reception.
Review 51:pillows were very uncomfortable and we ran out of toilet paper as it was not replaced. Bit strange that a kettle was provided but no mugs, tea or coffee. Disappointed there was no shampoo.
Review 52:Friendly helpful staff, good location.
Review 53:A bit cramped, but tolerable In the hot months it would be difficult to sleep without opening the window, in which case, it would be noisy.
Review 54:Cheery staff Free bicycles Room with wifi and electric kettle Excellent quality bed Double windows kept out sound Excellent location a stone's throw from the station Very reasonable price
Review 55:Wondered why we had no curtains on our bedroom window, so had to change in the bathroom at night. However there may have been a roll down black out curtain, which we did not notice at the time!!
Review 56:Staff were wonderful, extremely helpful and friendly. Could not do enough for us.
Review 57:We stayed in the apartment and found it very spacious, sunny and well appointed. Great central location. Perfect for a family. Great staff, very helpful and friendly with good English (but happy to suffer my French).
Review 58:It was a great stay. Won't hesitate to book there again.
Review 59:This was a very inexpensive hotel, nicely furnished and comfortable (we are an older couple), but best of all was the staff, who actively looked after us in the most appropriate and friendly way. And I haven't mentioned the great location, close to the port and central to cultural and business centers.
Review 60:- Does not reflect Booking.com rating (!) - Rather below-average quality standards (rooms/towels/carpets etc. old)
Review 61:- Staff - Location - Good value for money - Soundproof windows
Review 62:Everything about the hotel was great. The room was spacious, bright, clean and very comfortable. It was nice to notice that the hotel eventook care of a computer in the room in case a guest lacks gadget toconnect to the Internet. The windows were soundproof, which was veryprovident, as the room looked a lively street.
Review 63:Parking.
Review 64:As my wife stated, "that hotel was excellent, one of the best we have stayed in". FYI - we have stayed at many of the nicest hotels around the world so my wifes comment is amazing for a 2-star hotel. We are not comparing Abalys to a 5, 6, or 7 star hotel, but for it's location and price the service and cleanliness are amazing. PS. I normally do not write reviews on hotels and I constantly travel.
Review 65:really nothing to complain
Review 66:Facilites, Location, Breakfast (even if it wasn't included in the price) and most important Really good for traveller with PET!!!
Review 67:This a great hotel. The man on the desk the night we arrived was marvelous and gave us good suggestions on where to eat and what to see along with detailed maps on how to get there. The parking was public, but right across the street from hotel. There was no charge for parking after 6:30 PM and before 9 AM, so we only had to pay one Euro for 1 hour extra in the morning. Very convenient location near the train station. There was even a free computer in our room.
Review 68:Just perfect ! So very friendly staff, exellent room, close to everything. We really enjoyed our stay. Will defenetly choose this hotel again when visiting Brest.
Review 69:See old house - also means stairsVery small elevator - can not fit wheelchair, will fit one person with crutches and small luggage. Or two not hugely big. However as most people use the stairs You are fairly alone with the staff using it. If you ask they will help put the luggage in after You´ve gone up if You have big bags.
Review 70:Very nice rooms - we took their luxury option and it was so worth it.Old house very charming! Separate wc from bathroom. Very service mindedstaff . Actually we all (3 people, two rooms) said that it was much morevalue for money then the Hilton in Paris we spent the previous night indue to it´s charm.
Review 71:The bed and the polyester blanket. I had a big room (308) so big enough. In general the hotel can do with some small adjustments. Just replace the carpet, bedlinnen etc...It will make a big difference.
Review 72:The staff is the best asset of the hotel. Very friendly and very helpfull. It is difficult to say anything negative on the facilities because the staff is so nice!! A long time since I met such friendly staff in a hotel!!
Review 73:I have stayed overnite in Brest many times, but this was my first stayat the Abalys. I was very impressed by the price and quality of the roomand will definitely stay there again on future visits to Brest!!
Review 74:The bathroom was very small and needs renovation.
Review 75:The hotel was very well situated, but as I had a room looking on to a courtyard, it was very quiet. There was a free computer provided in the room and also a fast free wifi connection.
Review 76:Was a bit frustrating interacting with some of the staff due to theirlack of english. When trying to check out in a hurry - needed to catch abus to another city, the receptionist ignored us while speaking on thephone (seemed to be a personal call). Needed to be quite insistent ingetting her to pay us attention. However, only stayed 1 night so can'tsay whether this was an aberation.
Review 77:Located conveniently near shopping, the harbour and the train station.
Review 78:The .tv was set too low could hardly hear it.
Review 79:Location great ,c heap parking opposite hotel .room spotless came with computer[ free] kettle.tea /sugar .sound proof windows.
Review 80:The room was nice and comfortable and the staff of the hotel was very friendly. They informed us about different concerts and events going on in the city, they offered any help we might needed, and they were just great.
Review 81:Nothing; this hotel is an excellent facality:
Review 82:In the opinion of my wife and I Abalys Hotel is attractive, clean, comfortable, in an excellent location being near multiple shopping areas, bus routes, with bus and train station being within easy walking distance. The hotel personnel are outstanding, continually willing to be helpful. My wife and would highly recommend Abalys Hotel as an excellent hotel accomadation.
Review 83:The bathroom was very cramped.
Review 84:Warm greeting and luckily for us an English speaking receptionist. Roomclean, bright and light with a view of the park. Coffee makingfacilities. Bed comfortable. Parking close just across the road. Valuefor money.
Review 85:The toilet was a very small, because I have trouble to sit on the toilet. It was to near the washbasin.
Review 86:Nice hotel near the station, the citycenter and the shopping streets
Review 87:I had a great view of the park and even a view of the water. It was quiet and comfortable. I enjoyed having the mini fridge for some breakfast snacks as I did not buy breakfast at the hotel, but it did look like a nice selection. The staff was sweet to me as I needed more tea and they made sure I took some honey to help with my sore throat. I was glad they had an elevator. The wifi was a nice touch too. They suggested a few restaurants and they are close to many and good shopping. Brest offers a nice weekend trip with a walk down to the port and the fishmonger. Don't miss the Jardins des Explorateurs, just across the bridge.
Review 88:Staff were brilliant, very helpful and friendly. Location was great, very central near train/bus station, city centre and port. Room wascomfortable and clean with tea making facilities and computer with wifi.Would recommend this hotel for city break but not on Sundays and BankHolidays as everything closes. Sunday Market is very good.
Review 89:The lift was very very small.
Review 90:The staffs were excellent and very helpful. They had a good knowledge onBrest city and places near by. Very close to the station and is locatedat the central area of Brest.
Review 91:Excellent location, staff was really kind and helpful, comfortable room, free internet access in all the hotel, it was not noisy even when it islocated in an important street.
Review 92:Very well located comfortable hotel reasonably priced. Stayed for 2nights. Friendly & helpful reception staff. Spotlessly clean bedroom.Didnt have breakfast at the hotel. No frills hotel would recommendwithout hesitation.
Review 93:The bathroom was minute, the shower was not working and there was a very funny smell (which I reported) coming from the pipe in the bath.
Review 94:Very helpful staff. Excellent buffet breakfast. Clean rooms. Quiet.
Review 95:The loud music from next door bar
Review 96:Room and room facilities were very good
