Reviews for Hippotel
Review 1:difficult to find even with sat. Nav.
Review 2:Everything you require for an overnight stop over, good staff, adequate meal and good proximity to area for walking the dog.
Review 3:Good value for money, we had a family room which was roomy enough fir us and one 7 y.o. Nice shower, bed n bunk beds in separate area for our son. Only downside is a bit of a walk from town center (good 15/20mn) we found a really good restaurant 50metrs away from hippotel though, really lovely, nice Tmosphere n great tasty food, its called la dune aux loups n litterally 3mn walk from hippotel
Review 4:Nothing
Review 5:We've stayed here before and found it much improved after the reburbishments made. Le Touquet can be expensive for accommodation, but this hotel is excellent value. Good location, spotless clean, comfortable beds, good shower pressure, fully equipped kitchen, the staff were friendly and efficient so it was perfect for our needs.
Review 6:We couldn't have wifi in the room as we paid for. We told three different persons but the problem wasn't solved and we didn't received a commercial compensation (f. e. breakfast)
Review 7:The terrace, kitchen, the room
Review 8:Noise from fuse box or similar was annoying. A high pitched buzzing. Probably only that one room though.
Review 9:Brilliant staff. Cheap. Good food. Very clean. Comfy beds. Safe and attractive surroundins. Right next to stables.
Review 10:Nothing really, it is located some distance from the center but that was expected.
Review 11:Reasonable price compared to other hotels in the area. Good location if travelling by car, free parking and easy to reach.
Review 12:location was a nice walk to town through very quiet areas. HOTEL WAS SO QUIET WE THOUGHT WE WERE THE ONLY VISITORS TILL WE SAW THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVING THIER BREAKFAST.
Review 13:We couldn't get the wifi on our tablets even after having a word with reception. Not a real problem but may be for some clients.
Review 14:Loved the location and peace and quiet. Studio very clean, stylish and comfortable. All appliances worked and bathroom spacious and well provided with shower gel etc.
Review 15:We have stayed at the Hippotel many times and always enjoyed it. The staff are always polite and helpful. It was disappointing that the hot plates didn't work and could ha been dangerous as there was a loud bang when we switched them on......
Review 16:The hot plates didn't work and we had brought a meal to heat as it was a late arrival. The chef cooked our food for us . We felt this was a generous response to the situation.
Review 17:Met by a very friendly, helpful receptionist which was a good introduction to the hotel. Only one night as overnight stop on way to Calais and was good for that purpose.
Review 18:We think booking.com should make it clear that the following are not supplied: Hairdryer, drying up cloth, washing up cloth, washing up liquid. It would also be nice for the rooms to have information regarding cleaning and towels etc
Review 19:We liked the studio room and the furnishings and the staff were very pleasant. We expected the room to be cleaned and the towels to be changed but when we enquired we were told the rooms were cleaned on departure and clean towels were available on request which was ok. We also got a plug for the kitchen sink on request. The shelf in the kitchen cupboard was broken but not a problem really. We had to buy fly spray to get rid of the flies which appeared as soon as we opened the veranda door or the window. So we stopped opening them to keep the flies out. Hence we did not make use of the veranda and had no fresh air in the room.
Review 20:Had to ask them for towels, which they did then provide. It is about 2km from the centre of Le Touquet, although in a nice spot. Breakfast was mediocre.
Review 21:Nice room and self catering facilities. good price.
Review 22:Well appointed room for a family of 4. Tranquil location although parking was an issue on arrival due to there being an event on at the race course. Reasonably priced.
Review 23:Nothing - all good!
Review 24:Beautiful wooded setting, next to an immaculate equestrian centre. Accommodation was a one bed apartment with twin beds in main lounge area and bunk beds in a room (no door) in the entrance hall. Balcony with table and chairs. It had a Fridge, 2 hotplates and microwave - perfect for an overnight stop or longer. Short drive to the beach and a map was left in the accommodation. Restaurant and bar on site although we didn't use these.
Review 25:Take a kettle. Breakfast was expensive.
Review 26:The staff - so friendly The location - all those horses and dogs! 15 minute walk to the town or beach. Gave us towels which we thought we wouldn't be given. The balcony - stayed in Room 201 over-looking the front. Had a good Wifi signal too.
Review 27:The lack of vegetarian options on the menu in the restaurant
Review 28:The staff had excellent English and were very friendly and helpful. Le touquet has a good beach and lots of kids entertainment. Having the self catering facilities in the room was really helpful and the hotel was located in a quiet part of town with nice grounds. On arrival the room was spotlessly clean with towels and bedding provided.
Review 29:Thought it was a shame you had to pay for everything e.g pool table, sauna 2 dingle beds rather than a double No lift Thought hotel could do with a re paint
Review 30:Ability to walk into town
Review 31:Couldn't really fault this place. We weren't there long enough to eat or explore fully.
Review 32:Great location, just 5 mins from the A16 so perfect for what we needed this for- just a stopover before an early channel crossing. The location was so lovely, quite a surprise. Le Touquet is a really pretty little resort and well worth a visit and the hotels location on the horse racing track meant we could go for a wander to see the horses and the kids could have a good leg stretch and run about before getting back in the car for another journey so much better than previous hotel rooms we've booked for similar purpose. We didn't use it but the hotel has a bar, lots of places to relax, pool tables and table football and loads of space. We had a family room which offered lots of space for the 5 of us and an outside door with terrace leading onto the gardens.
Review 33:Very basic self catering facilities. No kettle, literally just 4 of everything, small cups, no mugs, no plugs to sink and bathroom wash basin. No hairdryer, but asked at reception and one was supplied. We were above laundry room, which was noisy day and night.
Review 34:Location. We took our granddaughter. She loved the cycling in relative safety and a horse riding lesson, which was in the equestrian centre next door.
Review 35:Hotel would appear to be dog friendly and one selfish guest left their anxious pet, apparently after speaking to another guest, for over 3 hours in the room on its own. We only had to put up with 45 minutes of barking
Review 36:At arrival the lady on reception was very helpful with where to park and the best ways to get into town etc. Hotel easy to find when entering the town and only 5 minutes drive if that from the centre and shops etc.
Review 37:It wasn't far from the beach etc, was a great price for such a lovely area. The staff were excellent, great coffee! The apartment was on the ground floor so had a grassy area outside that was lovely.
Review 38:I would recommend taking bikes as it would be a little walk into town
Review 39:Very clean accommodation, staff were friendly. We ate in restaurant on first evening and had a very good meal. We had our bikes so could enjoy lovely coastal cycles in to Le Touquet
Review 40:The noise from the room above. Cupboard doors were wonky. No kettle. Not alot of choice for breakfast.
Review 41:Location. Free parking. Size of room. Bar and pool table.
Review 42:No bad experiences, only down side was the bunk beds were a little small for two grown teenagers (okay for an overnight stop though).
Review 43:Location great, especially if you looking for horse riding...
Review 44:Mattress on the bed was wrecked, actually crumpled in the centre, didnt get a good nights sleep. Restaurant closes at 21:30, at 21:05, with only 3 tables in use, they told us they were fully booked and couldn't serve us!
Review 45:Location. Beautiful area. Only 1 hours drive from Calais.
Review 46:It seems a shame to put any complaints because our stay was ideal, however, the bottom sheet (whilst washed) had an ingrained stain...! Time to buy some new stock perhaps
Review 47:The Hippotel has a great relaxed atmosphere. The area is stunning. I had suddenly realized once I booked that it is near the airport but in actual fact I only heard two jets in 3.5 days. Staff always seemed happy and more than happy to help.
Review 48:Horse competition next door caused noise and parking chaos. It is a long walk into town! To self cater would be a struggle with the equipment provided.
Review 49:Comfortable and clean
Review 50:Had to request towels, no bath mat, absolutely nothing in the bathroom in the way of soaps, etc. No shower screen. It would only take a few of these matters to be addressed to be a good location.
Review 51:Surrounding equestrian centre, thousands of huge trees as far as the eye could see, nice town with good market, strong and continuous WiFi, kitchenette and fridge in room. All our requests answered or met.
Review 52:There wasn't anything we didn't like, apart from having to leave.
Review 53:The excellent price for a good hotel, basic and most comfortable. Will recommend a stay there
Review 54:No towels or toiletries and only one toilet roll!
Review 55:Spotless and spacious mini apartment with great wifi coverage. Balcony. Self-catering facilities clean but basic. Bathroom was very clean. Great location. Large, free, easy-access car park. Walking distance from top-end of Le Touquet (Aqualud end). Would unquestionably stay here again and would recommend it unhesitatingly to others, especially families.
Review 56:Wifi didn't seem to work in my room. I would have loved to sleep with the window open in my ground floor studio but window had no locking mechanism so had a vague concern that an intruder, albeit unlikely, could enter
Review 57:Location. Excellent value. Good standard overall.
Review 58:Located I the swanky part of le touquet, you can choose the long walk through the beautiful tree lined boulevards to the front or the shorter (half hour) potter through the shops to the main part of town.
Review 59:No kettle provided in the kitchenette. No small window to open.
Review 60:Pleasant location adjacent to the equestrian centre in a tree lined residential area, 30 minutes walk from the town centre.
Review 61:we liked the surrounding area and all the walking available. Our own balcony to relax on and all the necessary equipment for simple eating not to mention the choice of restaurants in the town
Review 62:It was quite difficult to find the hotel - it would have been very helpful to have known that it was very close to the airport and next to the equestrian center. The hotel was not close to the town centre but that was not a problem as we had our own car.
Review 63:The room was a very generous size and had a fridge and hotplate. The staff were very helpful and hospitable and the bathroom / wet room was also very spacious and clean. I was very pleased with the hotel overall. The breakfast was plentiful and very good.
Review 64:Had to keep asking for bins bags, toilet rolls etc
Review 65:Boys loved the pool table and table football. The kitchen area was great for making breakfast and packed lunches
Review 66:The room though advertised as a studio also had 2 bunk beds if needed. The room was a good size with a great fridge, microwave and 2 electric rings. Also a reasonable array of utensils, cutlery and crockery. We had a terrace looking out to the front lawn and a lovely view of mature trees. It is a flat easy 30 minute walk into the centre of Le Touquet. We did not take Jess the Jack Russell but could have had we wanted to. At £88 for two nights this is very good value when you consider how up-market this resort is. A few comments we read before arrival mentioned that the hotel looks a little tired and has green mould. This is caused by being surrounded by very abundant tall trees all around the property. A weekend with a power washer would cure this, I hope the owners do this simple job which would only increase the appeal of this lovely apart-hotel.
Review 67:Was quite a way out from town, so we had a short drive back to the hotel, would have been nice to be able to walk from the hotel into town.
Review 68:The room was very clean and suited our needs perfectly. The price was fab too.
Review 69:I would have liked to have known that the price quoted was non-refundable and didn't like the fact that the money was taken from my account prior to my visit. I would have preferred to have paid whilst there and use my 'travel card' (taken in euros) rather than my credit card which charges an exorbitant fee.
Review 70:It is very convenient for my leisure activity in Le Touquet.
Review 71:Heating in the bathroom and children's bedroom did not work.
Review 72:The location is great when travelling with ( young or older)children. The hotel is just next door to the Horse riding centre where children can ride ponies. Very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet room.
Review 73:only a plastic fork and a soup ladle as cooking utensils. No frying pan, no dishwasher, no washing up liquid or washing up brush or dishcloth. No water glasses, only 3 small wine glasses.
Review 74:good location and comfortable bed
Review 75:Only half a loo roll (ran out) really basic room and kitchen facilities, could have been cleaner (poo smeared on toilet wall).even outside of hotel needs cleaning and painting, doesn't look as nice as pictures. Switch for heater in bathroom was broken.
Review 76:Staff were friendly but hotel looks tired, needs a good overhaul and coat of paint. Location was beautiful.
Review 77:Not exactly bad, but kitchens need upgrading now (like bathrooms ). Hot plate controls very loose. No kettle....no toaster.
Review 78:New upgraded bathroom.....excellent. New fencing around grass area. Everything else was fine for a budget hotel.
Review 79:We paid for breakfast for the first day. It was a complete waste of money. The chap in charge of the breakfast was grumpy and didn't want to provide anything beyond the breakfast cereal! At about 10 euros each for four people (40 euros for one breakfast), this was very poor value.
Review 80:We had a very warm welcome. Throughout the stay, the staff were helpful.
Review 81:Rooms are dated and need some work, but are fine for a basic stay.
Review 82:Staff were lovely & accommodating, great location with a car. Great place to go for walks. Big car park.
Review 83:Nothing!
Review 84:This is our second time staying at the Hippitel. This is a great budget hotel, staff are very friendly, the family rooms are excellent, the kitchenette is very useful to help save a bit more money.
Review 85:Breakfast waste of money had it for four days and on none of those days was there any of the following yogurts, fruit, toast, cheese or meats plus eating directly of the tablecloth. What was provided cereal milk french sticks jam butter honey coffee and teas. As for the evening paying guests were not able to dine as we were informed each evening whilst we were there the police and commissioners were dining but half the restaurant could have still been used for hotel guests.
Review 86:Location, staff, parking good and felt safe
Review 87:Not much really. An annoying barking dog a few doors down. Mentioned to reception and stopped shortly after.
Review 88:Very tidy. Nice, welcoming reception area. Room excellent with really useful kitchen. Easy walk into town and super price!
Review 89:Some of the pans for the kitchen were dated and new chopping boards would not go amiss. But everything else brilliant!
Review 90:The apartment was great and kids loved it. Clean, comfortable and the football table was fun. Bar area very accommodating to children and bar prices good for a round of oringinas and wine! Breakfast was amazing and well worth the money. Would stay again - no question. When we could look around in the morning in daylight, the place is lovely. You even get a patio area and chairs. Le Touquet is very nice too and great beaches.
Review 91:No kettle. Had to boil water for my hot water bottle in the coffee maker lol. Also, a lip in the shower to stop the water spilling over onto the floor would be good. Bed linen was very thin so used a child duvet in the other room to place on top of the bed.
Review 92:Loved the newly refurbished room and the 2 towels provided (unexpected, as they didn't used to be). Also had English channels on the tv (but you had to ask how to get them, I think a lot of people would assume you could only get French speaking channels). An information folder explaining this and maybe recommending places to eat/visit would be useful. Wi-fi was also good in the bedroom, on our last visit (2013), you could only get it in the hotel reception area, so that was a big plus. Love the flexibility that having the kitchen provides. This must be the 5th or 6th time we've stayed and will visit again.
Review 93:Just a little to far from centre of town to walk but not a real problem
Review 94:Large room, friendly staff, good breakfast , and excellent bar. Easy parking. Will be going back there. Great family break with grandchildren and parents.
Review 95:No sour notes here .
Review 96:It was a pleasant break for us in attractive surroundings racetrack, stables, forest, town.Yes it was very quiet pre Christmas but that meant no hassle and individual attention was given gladly and professionally .Great deal too.
Review 97:The facilities for cooking (plates, cups etc) were a little basic, plus were just a little dirty. There was no kettle so had to boil water in a saucepan. No washing up products at all. The bed had hairs on the outside (long headhairs) but was clean inside. There was no hairdryer in the room. The room was a little dusty but certainly not dirty!
Review 98:The free parking, the wifi and the comfort and modern feel of the rooms were really good. The shower and bathroom were brilliant. Towels are small but acceptable, we took our own and used the supplied ones as a shower mat, rather than trying to dry ourselves with them. The view from the room was really nice and the place was so quiet!
Review 99:Staff were very welcoming and really helpful in providing a cot for our infant and giving us directions too. The hotel is very clean and breakfast was delicious. Would recommend for short stays.
Review 100:No negative comments.
Review 101:Motel style accommodation located next door to the equestrian centre. The studio had a double bed and dining table, with the basic kitchen facilities - hob, sink and fridge (already switched on for provisions). Our ground floor room was ideal for our dog with patio doors and terrace. The bedroom/living area was warm and cosy, and modern bathroom was equipped with an excellent shower and large handbasin. Centre is approx. 20 minutes walk through residential area. Excellent value for money with complimentary car parking and wifi. Restaurant facilities available, and staff happy to help with any queries.
Review 102:kids moaning about the walk into town. People upstairs scraping chairs on the floor. Toilet very small.
Review 103:The equestrian centre is lovely as is the surrounding area and woods. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They made sure our party all had rooms next door to eachother. Great shower.
Review 104:Restaurant, first stay they chose to close as there were only 3 couples staying on sunday, they said staff were tired. Return stopover, they had two parties of schools children to feed, could not cater for us till later-so we ate in our room
Review 105:Ambiance of race course
Review 106:Decor a bit dull.
Review 107:Next door over the road is an excellent restaurant serving fish and fine wine. The hotel is cheerful and well run. Views of stables and parklike environment are charming.
Review 108:Continuous ventilator running in room all night. Reception staff refused to switch it off. Didn't get to sleep at all. No towels in room. Wasn't prepared to refund room when I complained.
Review 109:Nothing . This apartment was rated at 2 star and this was, somewhat better.
Review 110:Just loved being able to open the doors and walk out to see the horses at the equestrian centre. Lovely "clip, clop" sounds to awaken you in the moring. Easy access into Le touquet and Etables. Staff helpful and friendly
Review 111:Nothing, excellent place to stay
Review 112:The views, excellent areas for sporting activities, right next to the bay for sailing, the stables for horse riding and the tennis courts.
Review 113:There was nothing we didn't like really. I would just like to find one or veggie options on a menu somewhere in France!
Review 114:Although a bit dated it is a real gem surrounded by forest and walks and horses and stables. Very easy to find. Breakfast was so good too. The rooms have so much space and a small kitchenette which if you were staying longer - we stayed for two nights - would be very useful. Another thing is that a lot of people took their dogs as it is also a dog friendly place. This was a revelation to us as we have two dogs and may take them with when we go back next year. The first dog is free and the second is e5 a night which is very good. All in all we loved it and will be returning next year.
Review 115:Nothing - this trip was perfect
Review 116:Location - Everything is in easy reach of the hotel. Value - We got the hotel at a great Rate! The staff are friendly and helpful, You are acknowledged everything you enter the reception area. The cleanliness of the hotel is spot-on. The Room was fresh and the bedding was immaculate. Even though pets are allowed you would not be able to tell, there is no doggy smell to rooms etc
Review 117:Quite a walk (about 15 mins) into main resort and beach but a very pleasant, leafy amble.
Review 118:In an expensive area the rooms and facilities were very good value. Quiet part of the resort, nice bar area and it has a restaurant, although we didn't try it.
Review 119:Glass partition on balcony, not private from next balcony, put us off sitting outside
Review 120:Good position, comfortable stay. Bed very comfortable. Great shower
Review 121:Would have booked a ground floor room if I had realised there was no lift (my oversight) but it didn't detract from our stay.
Review 122:Our first visit to Le Touquet and we will return. Le Hippotel was a great option for us, especially since we are both horse riders. With the fantastic equestrian centre to the rear of the hotel, our room overlooked the parade ring. Very good value for money option (perhaps a little tired in areas) within easy reach of Calais ferry port.
Review 123:While I was overall happy staying at the Hippotel it disappointed me because it could be so much better with a little TLC. The bathroom area could do with modernising with black marks around the vents and a large crack in the basin. Overall the place looked tired but was good enough for my 3 night stay.
Review 124:Location and value for money, while the breakfast on offer was more than adequate.
Review 125:On the 1st day of arrival ( p.m.on the last Sunday in August) and feeling tired....it was impossible to have a snooze with the flights taking off from the Airport - literally 1000 metres from the room. This was the only day this happened !
Review 126:The view over the equestrian centre was interesting.Room more than adequate for two people.Kitchen facilities good but bring your own kettle (with adaptor!) and a serrated knife!
Review 127:Not within walking distance of Le Touquet but only a short drive into town. Free parking in Le Touquet out of season apart from weekends.
Review 128:Clean, spacious apartment. Beds comfortable, apartment clean. Bathroom adequate.
Review 129:WC and 'bath' very constricted - you need to be agile! Bunk beds in an internal 'alcove' really rather soppy. Accommodation very clean but well-worn (particularly the bathroom).
Review 130:Comfortable beds (though the bunk beds we didn't have to use looked spartan), good sized 'main room', fridge, microwave and hob very useful, dogs welcome, nice leafy view from the balcony.
Review 131:Bathroom needed a good scrub or refurb! Would have been nice to have hada double bed rather than two singles pushed together.
Review 132:Location Size of room Comfort of beds
Review 133:kitchen equipment was a bit basic .....would have been nice to have a kettle and a toaster.
Review 134:the location is outstanding..... great for walking dogs and for dogs to stay. ....very near to the town centre......able to produce own snacks and tea and coffee. fridge very good.... very comfortable place for a limited budget......staff are friendly and helpful.
Review 135:My main grievance was when we come back in the evening, we like to watchthe tennis from America, I asked twice during my stay if someone couldcome and set the tv for us to watch the tennis, nobody bothered to come, this ruined our stay at the hotel , we have been long term visitors toyour hotel and we are discussed at the lack of response in this case. Ifyou can assure aus that this wont happen again we might come back.
Review 136:The breakfast is expensive so we bought some croissants and cereal with us.
Review 137:This is a good value play to stay with good facilities. The kitchen was really helpful for the kids, as was the separate bedroom with bunk beds. The receptionist was helpful and knowledgable about the local area. The shower was nice and powerful too.
Review 138:Prefer a midday check-out
Review 139:Late check-in was super quick. Room was very peaceful (batiment C). Car park was free and safe...we left all our luggage in the car.
