Reviews for Hôtel Les Gens De Mer - Brest

Review 1:Nothing

Review 2:This is easy, the blackout curtains - believe me this simple and cheap feature has been sadly missing from almost every hotel I have stayed at in the last 30 years. They ensured a good nights sleep, unbroken by daybreak, if that's what you want - I did. The location entailed a walk of over a mile into the centre of Brest but that was compensated for by a number of decent bars, restaurants and free parking - busy to the point of buzzing in the evening. The historic castle/museum was nearer than the town centre and led on to the 'Siam' area with more restaurants, bars and shops. The room was fairly simple, but spacious with a double for single occupancy and a good shower with decent pressure. The best bit was paying 72 euro for two nights. Recommended for a visit to Brest on a budget. The only downside for a 2 star hotel was the lack of a hairdryer.

Review 3:the distance from the town centre but this was offset by the restaurants close by. Staff could have been informative about bus timetable into town or have info to hand

Review 4:Hotel staff were very friendly and keen to help

Review 5:Hotel is a bit worn out, some refurbishment is needed. View directly to port buildings, or opposite hotel.

Review 6:Location close to restaurant area at the docks. Good for just overnight sleeping.

Review 7:Rien

Review 8:Flexibilite, location near the waterfront, good room size.

Review 9:Wi fi poor bending arrangements average

Review 10:Price

Review 11:Very noisy high libido nieghbours (well but this is no fault of the hotel)

Review 14:Poor breakfast, bread smelled old. Wifi reception poor.

Review 15:Relatively close to the center. Friendly staff.

Review 16:My reservation from booking was not taken into account by the hotel, the rooms are far from soundproof, no WiFi, ...

Review 17:Average-priced, close to the harbor

Review 18:A bit of a trek to the city centre, 10-15 min walk away, up a hill.

Review 19:Very handy for the early start to catch the Ushant ferry. Various restaurants etc nearby.

Review 20:Bedrooms were small. the hotel is not close to major shopping. It's in a tough industrial port area.

Review 21:It seems the area is an emerging one from the point of view of dining and drinking. Not much in the way of entertainment. The accommodation is serviceable.

Review 22:Very basic rooms Leaking shower (bedroom flooded). Cold room (personally repaired radiator). Hot water takes long time to 'come on'. No English TV. No kettle/refreshments in room, only 1 small bottle water provided. Noisy.

Review 23:Proximity to workplace (port) Good restaurant + service Free Wi-Fi

Review 24:Hotel tried to charge us rack rate for our stay despite our booking with Bookings.com. She also added in breakfast which we had not booked nor taken. She claimed there was nothing she could do to correct this despite us showing our booking confirmation email.

Review 25:Location amongst fish restaurants and directly on the fish docks

Review 26:The room I had was at the back of the Hotel which ment a bit of aclimb up fairly dark stairs and an outside covered but open walkway toreach the room.

Review 27:The Hotel is in a good spot on the Harbour front and there are plentyof Restaurants and bars close by. Staff were friendly. Room was ok butthe Bed was really comfortable so got a decent nights sleep. TheItalian Restaurant next door is superb and the staff there could not doenough for us.

Review 28:Near the old port, there are many bars.

Review 29:Too Small a Room for a double

Review 30:Ideal position near Marina at Port Chateau.

Review 31:Elevator, clean, located on working port -- not for everyone, but just down the street from great crab restaurant.
