Reviews for Pension La Cubana
Review 1:The most romantic and atmospheric place to stay in Santa Cruz, right in the centre of the old town and still very quiet. The owner was very helpful and friendly in spite of us staying just for a night.
Review 2:Wonderful history in a very old building but very clean and well-kept! Can't get a better location! The cafe/patisserie in front is amazing!!!
Review 3:We had our room on the side to the street, so at night it was noisy all the time. Shared bathrooms are not a plus, but they were clean so that caused no problem for us.
Review 4:Very central location, friendly staff, nice style of the house with big shared area, kitchen available to use.
Review 5:You can do a tea and coffe but you cant cook anything.
Review 6:This hotel is very lovely. Oldschool rooms in good way. Location is perfect! Personal is great and speak english:). Also they let us leave our laguagge in hotel till our flight.
Review 7:Very many mosquito's at night that were very loud. The mosquito mashine didn't work for them. The building is very old and creaky and doesn feel very clean...
Review 8:We stayed here because we had to take the ferry in the morning. Excellent spot for that!
Review 9:Nothing
Review 10:I arrived late and the owner met me was really helpful and friendly, clean tidy room. The pension is a traditional building with balconies great for morning coffee and watching the world go by.
Review 11:This time I was in a triple room, which was windowless and had paper-thin walls and ceiling so picked up lots of noise. Neither my travel companion nor I could get any sleep. If you do stay here, make sure you're in one of the rooms at the front with windows.
Review 12:The location is ideal, the staff are lovely and the lounge areas are charming.
Review 13:During the night it was quite noisy.
Review 14:The location was perfect, just on the main road of the city. The style of the house is beautiful. The room was very basic, we had a window to the backyard. But for this price it was good :)
Review 15:"Simple" often means a bit of a bleak room but this place has a great rustic charm. There are lovely shared sitting areas and free Wi first and coffee. Very central and very friendly owners.
Review 16:It ain't the Ritz! It's a hostel, rather than a hotel, but if you're on a budget and want somewhere central to base yourself, it's fine.
Review 17:A good location, a good price and a nice place with character.
Review 18:we were during christmas. The bars are close so the music and people were very loud until 4am.
Review 19:in the heart of the town, ancient building, wooden floor and simple furnishing, location near the bus station
Review 20:thin walls, you can hear almost everthing
Review 21:in the heart of the town, ancient building, beautiful place (felt like going back in time), wooden floor and simple furnishing, everything was clean and the owner really polite and helpful
Review 22:I stayed on 31st October and I never thought about Halloween. The bars are close so the music and people were very loud until 4am. Other than that I enjoyed my stay.
Review 23:I love the quaint character of the building. I really liked the interior design of the main areas. My room felt cosy and I liked all of the wood. The location is great for transport links and shops - 2 minute walk from bus stop, 5-10 minutes walk to ferry, shops outside the door
Review 24:Location, the building and decor, kitchen with all necessary facilities, cosy little balkony, spacious and clean bathroom, loads of information on local attractions and activities at the reception, shelves full of books in the sitting room
Review 25:Very friendly landlord. Pension Cubana offers an absolutely exceptional atmosphere. My room was in a part of the building about 200 years old. It's right in the centre of Santa Cruz. Opposite of the pension there is a cafe, nice to have breakfast. Overall, I highly recommend this pension!
Review 26:Have to be careful with mosquitoes (although the door did have some mosquito net) Thin walls (can pretty much hear everything that goes on in the building)
Review 27:Clean Excellent shower (shared bathrooms, but that's normal for a hostel) Towels Kitchen with kettle, coffee, tea and fridge Comfy beds Common area with sofas and reading material Quirky decoration - has character Excellent location Friendly staff Cheap One of the best hostel experiences I've had.
Review 28:back room a bit smelly, but nothing I couldn't handle! no wifi in room
Review 29:brilliant atmosphere, fantastic location (best possible place you could be situated in santa cruz I think), relaxed, great old house, felt right at home, living room really spacious and fast wifi there

Review 38:You can almost breathe the colonial atmosphere, very interesting place to stay. Cosy kitchen, nice staff. Very homely.
Review 39:can't remember
Review 40:most central location, great living room for breakfast and hangin around, very helpful staff,...
Review 41:staff
Review 42:Beautiful old building with interesting rooms and welcoming staff. Super cheap, super convenient.
Review 43:Creaky beds and noise from the street.
Review 44:Great location at the historic part of town.
Review 45:Beautiful building, charming rooms, friendly staff, excellent facilities.
Review 46:No cooker in the kitchen. Squeky beds :-)
Review 47:Amazing location on busy street without cars. Few meters from port and bus station. Lovely staff which can fulfill any your wish. Laundry possibility.
Review 48:If you're over 1,90 m tall beds might be too short for you... ;)
Review 49:The whole place is extraoridinary, with wooden floors and nice, colonial archtecture. Great atmosphere inside :) Good Location: Very close to the harbor, which makes it easy to find + on the main city promenade. Great owners who are welcoming you with smile!
Review 50:The downside of this old building with authentic wooden floors is that it's noisy and that it lacks air ventilation in the rooms.
Review 51:We loved the beautiful colonial building, the large shared living room and the possibility to use the fridge and water cooker.
Review 52:Bathrooms were communal and lacking in hooks for clothes or rails for towels. No shelves for toiletries. Internal rooms might be hot in summer.
Review 53:An original Canary city house with an internal courtyard, a communal lounge with a balcony over the street. Our room had no external window but good ventilation from a window into a corridor. Comfortable bed and impressive antique built in cupboards. Nice dog!
Review 54:We liked the old world charm of this place - it felt like going back in time but with enough modern facilities to make it comfortable! The owner had thought of many small details that ecomomy travellers might need.
Review 55:Pretty noisy front rooms onto the pedestrianised street below, and little internal sound insulation between rooms.
Review 56:Helpful lady running the place and very central location, free coffee /tea. Pleasant ambiance.
Review 57:Street cleaners at 4 a.m. Try & get room away from street. No hot water on day we were there.
Review 58:Quirky, characterful, friendly. Great street - Calle O'Daily
Review 59:Nothing! It would be really useful if there was a hob to cook to save money not eating out.
Review 60:The owners were absolutely lovely. I asked for flowers to be put on the bed which she very sweetly did : ) as well as beautiful leaves! The location was amazing on a beautiful spanish street. The architecture of the building was lovely. The balcony and sitting room was really great to chill out in. The furniture in the room had great character, lovely wardrobe, desk chairs and very comfortable (but rather squeaky bed ; ) really near by to the ferry port which was very useful. great access to exploring the beautiful city. All round a great memorable experience! Highly recommend!
Review 61:Noisy bed.
Review 62:Nice and friendly staff (nothing is problem for them), lovely room, atmosphere of the place, old design, location in the centre, close bus stop.
Review 63:Zero comfort, barely better than sleeping on the beach.
Review 64:Located in the heart of the town of Santa Cruz. Beautiful 18. century building practically unchanged ever since.
Review 65:It can be noisy because of cafe under the windows, people and transport - it is a busy street. Some rooms have no windows to the outside. Common lounge has a balcony that is adjacent to some rooms, and because people smoke on that balcony all that smoke goes into the rooms.
Review 66:It's very close to the port, so if you arrive by ferry very late it is quite a good and safe place to stay for a night for reasonable price. Nice, helpful owner.
Review 67:Noisy room (from the street and the house)
Review 68:Staff Easy parking (follow the McDonald) Look nice (old house) Good location near the main road and in the city center Easy breakast in the front bar
Review 69:There were a lot of mosquitoes during the night that bothered us a bit.
Review 70:La Cubana is just great. The staff is simply awesome being very helpful and providing much needed information without even asking. La Cubana has a Cuban feeling and is located at the center of Santa Cruz. Very close to the ferry terminal too. Certainly recommended
Review 71:Downside of being in city centre is that front rooms could be noisy after local bars close at night (and when café opposite opens in the morning).
Review 72:Owner was immensely helpful and friendly. Relaxed place - good for meeting a diverse range of other travellers. Historic building in great city centre location, less than 10 minutes walk from ferry terminal.
Review 73:The description said there was a sink in the room but we had room 9which had no sink. This was not really a problem as the toilet with asink was close by. None of rooms ensuite but this is a pension at28euros for a double room in the capital city close to the ferry so notreally a complaint at this price and location.
Review 74:Comfortable bed. Use of lounge . Free tea and coffee , udse of keyttleand fridgefreezer. Very helpful manager who is multilingual. Safe andsecure - gate to street is kept locked and all guests have a key. 5 minswalk to the ferry.
Review 75:The window in the room opened on... The stairs. The floor is quitenoisy. There wasn't event a sink in the room.
Review 76:The hostel is located in the city centre, in the main street and reallyclose to the bus stop, shops, bars etc. Has a nice, old-fashioned look. The staff was nice.

Review 84:The house was very old, but well maintained and very interesting. I liked the stillness of the room. The host was so helpful and friendly. Immediately after my arrval at La Cubana I felt at home and at ease! It was a wonderful experience!
Review 85:I stayed at this place primarily for its location as I needed access tothe hospital by bus. The help and information I received from the ownerwas priceless. What's more I'd originally booked for 6 nightsbut only needed to stay for 3 and very kindly the owner charged me forthe 3 nights. The place is basic as you would expect from a pension butclean. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Review 86:- Comfort (only 2 showers for over 12 rooms)- Cleaning (incapable to clean under the bed) - Noise (no isolation at all) - Owner business mentality - There are spanish hotels with similar pricing but more comfort
Review 87:- Pricing- Locaction
