Reviews for La Marine
Review 1:When we arrived the restaurant bar was very busy but the owner greeted our arrival as if we were coming home. The room and hallway were quite clean. They serve a lovely and very ample breakfast...the food and coffee was very good and the service was always with smiles. The town was quite interesting and there were excellent restaurants within a block or 2 of the hotel.
Review 2:A disaster wreck building that needs to be either put down or taken fromsomeone who understands what is a hotel. The first think they ask youupon arrival is your payment even before saying hello. Reception closesat 19:00-19:30 at a very important tourist attraction. Room was fallingapart, no towels or toiletries, had to wait 35 minutes for the maid, tocome from her hometown give us these items because the receptionist hadno idea where these things were...I Stop here because I can write abook. The city of Carnal should take care of that. Damaging the Image.
Review 3:There is nothing to like this hotel. Biggest mistake of our trip.
Review 4:We had a very bad experience, when we first went in to the room we thought it was very dated and noticed that the carpet was stained. At ache bed was freshly made and clean. During the night I got up to use the toilet and discovered that we had no lights or electricity. We waited a while to see if it was just a short power cut. One hour later after trying the emergency numbers supplied we finally got through to booking.com I the USA. We had to go down stairs to use another toilet as ours was filling up as the flush was electric. When my husband tried going stairs we discovered that their was no lights even emergency lighting which is a requirement in law. The hotel was full and this meant that their was a fire it would have been very dangerous to get people out with no emergency lighting. We could not return to sleep after this discovery. My husband finally got contact with the manager at 8 am in the morning. He was very dismissive and said it was not his fault, my husband explained our concern about health and safety and also that the exits were blocked if their was a fire. We decided to leave on the Sunday as the safety issues still were not going to be sorted until the Monday morning. The manager did not take responsibility for the electricity he said it was not his fault but we feel that it was his hotel and his responsibility. We will never recemond this hotel to anyone. I think that booking .com should remove it from your booking system as it is not a safe hotel.
Review 5:The hallways are very dark and smell like old, greasy food. The front desk is manned infrequently - we had to stop in several times before we could find someone to check us in. And when we departed, I finally had to just leave the key on the desk as no one was there nor responded to the desk bell.
Review 6:The family room was giant, clean & perfect for us. The location is right off the main square, which was a bit loud during a festival going on, but made it so easy to participate.
Review 7:small room
Review 8:Nice location
Review 9:Excellent location
Review 10:WIFI not available throughout. Air conditioning in rooms would be useful.
Review 11:Location fantastic. Friendly staff. Restaurant/service excellent.
Review 12:Very noisy place, with the windows going to the street with traffic, it is not possible to sleep!
Review 13:Center of town, close enough to the Stones
Review 14:Nothing

Review 19:Noisy
Review 20:The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, and a good clean!
Review 21:The location in the centre of the village.
Review 22:Great location, will stay again. Great local knowledge. Good food if needed, highly recommend.
Review 23:no lift
Review 24:really helpful staff, in town centre, easy parking
Review 25:what's not to like?
Review 26:I liked the location, my room, the lovely hot shower after a long drive and the knowleadgability and friendliness of the staff. Breakfast was good too. Directions and local knowledge were good. Altogether an all too brief but enjoyable stay.
Review 27:If people say its charming ignore them, if they say it will grow on youso does a wart. This place is very bad, its furnishings are tired andfrayed , the place stinks of old cig smoke. The owners cough and hack andgod knows what else. The bed was seriously uncomfortable , the bathroomwas terrible. Its a disaster and maybe the lovely booking.com peepsshould look at this kind of place and wonder is it a good idea to allowthem on our site.
Review 28:Except for the central location there is nothing to like.
Review 29:There was a smell of cigarette smoke but could have been an isolated incidence of someone smoking and an elevator would have been nice as we were on the top floor.
Review 30:Location good and room was nice
Review 31:The corridors and stairways were somewhat dingy, although the bedrooms themselves were fresh and nicely decorated. The televisions didn't seem to work, but that wasn't a pressing issue. WIFI available in public places but not in the bedrooms. No air conditioning, so it was quite hot.
Review 32:The indoors/outdoors restaurant on-site was excellent and handy with our two young daughters. The slide/play area outside was also useful for keeping them entertained while we dined. Our family suite had two separate bedrooms which was great for the children.
Review 33:Uh, can't think of any!
Review 34:Incredibly central location, friendly and helpful staff. Buffet breakfast was the best of all the places we stayed at on our 4-wk holiday.
Review 35:The staff were friendly and helpful and made me feel very welcome. My room was warm and comfortable, very quiet and a reasonable size. The location is excellent; the museum and Tourist centre are adjacent, there are good restaurants and shops nearby and the bus stop is a little way around the corner. I was able to walk to Alignments and other Carnac attractions, and use the Petit Train to get further afield to Carnac Plage and Trinite sur Mer. The town market has excellent local fresh and cooked foods and other goods.
Review 36:The room was adequate but scruffy as was the general appearance of thehotel. The sink in bathroom did not have a plug and the shower leakedfrom the shower head. Both not an issue for me but for some they mighthave been.
Review 37:Friendly staff and central location in Carnac. The self servicebreakfast was as described with a choice of food and drink available. The staff managed to find a space to secure my bicycle. Good locationfor exploring the area and central Carnac.
Review 38:Would have liked a kettle/drinks making facility in the room. Wi-fi was very intermittent - going on and off every 10 minutes or so.
Review 39:Brilliant location in the centre of Carnac yet quiet and peaceful. The locals use the bar and restaurant and everyone was friendly and helpful. Relaxed atmosphere and buffet breakfast was excellent.
Review 40:The staff is unprofessional. We came exsactly two minutes after closingtime and hotel with our reservating rooms was closed. We could onlythank other guestes who told us the correct number of the hotel owner toopened the hotel for us. This is extremly unfair especially when thehost know that the are coming 6 people and to promote uncorecly phonenumber on booking.com so that the guest even can't informated the hostthat they are coming a little bit later. We could only thank otherguests who told us the correct number of the hotel owner to opened thehotel for us. We are all on the roads and this is extremly shamless toall the guests. Such hoteliers should be ignorated and erased from thelist of hotels on booking.com.
Review 41:Location
Review 42:This was a terrible hotel. We stayed in Carnac only because it was closeto the Neolithic site, which was of interest, but the town itself wasnot worth seeing. The hotel smelled of smoke, and the proprietor closeddown reception at 7 pm so we had to use a key code through a sideentrance to get back inside. The room was run-down, had hospital-stylefluorescent lighting, and the bathroom was seriously lacking incleanliness with a dirty plastic shower curtain - we were disgusted andcouldn't get out of the hotel or the town fast enough. Even if this isthe only hotel in this town - take our advice and keep on driving!
Review 43:Centrally based, close to the centre, lots of places to eat. We had the local market set up the next day (Wednesday), so a wonderful experience not to be missed. Parking was available free of charge in the nearby carpark
Review 44:Located in old building in the heart of old village, perfect positionfor reaching by foot the prehistoric sites and a nice stroll to thebeach (it takes 35 to 40 minutes walking to the beach). Very "marine"athmosphere, rooms comfortable, airy and spacious.
Review 45:Tired decor, uneven floors and many cracks which suggested subsidence. Internet link not working. Foyer ceiling appeared to be supported by a prop disguised with a cardboard tube.
Review 46:Excellent location near to the prehistoric sites and beautiful beaches. A great deal to enjoy and visit in the area.
Review 47:The maid had left the window open, and not only rain, but a cold windhad come in. The heater in the room never succeeded in warming the roomduring the night. The bathroom heater could not be turned on and a coldbreeze came in through a wall vent there. The mattress was uneven, sothat it was difficult to not roll to the center of the bed.
Review 48:The location on the main square in Carnac was excellent. It was an easywalk to the tourist information office and the excellent Musee dePrehistoire. The buffet breakfast was very good.
Review 49:La Marine's location is excellent to appreciate village life in France. It is located on the main square and is not far from the sea. The staffis great and the relaxed atmosphere is ideal for a family vacation. Theprice is affordable. Carnac is a pretty town with lots of historicalattractions such as the alignments of standing stones and the museum ofprehistoric artifacts. Food is only available at the hotel during theholiday season but the village's restaurants offer typical Brittany food(crepes, sea food, etc.).

Review 62:La marine is in need of refurbishing & updating
