Reviews for Aparthotel El Galeón
Review 1:The check-in time is incredibly long (and just one staff that's why low score). Do not understand why since they had all our info before we got there. Fortunately we were first in line but I watched a long queue later waiting forever. Not ok. Both rooms we got were smokers rooms but we managed to change one. (That's when we discovered the long checking-in line)... Hard beds.
Review 2:Good location. Great that we could get a quick coffee + fruit in the reception next morning since we had to take a very early flight. Just stayed for one night so can't say much more.
Review 3:Bed was pretty hard, had quite a crunchy plastic sheet under it and could have done with more pillows snd a duvet..
Review 4:Quiet location a short walk up from the town. Generous sized apartment, and nice and clean. Friendly staff.
Review 5:As per usual, again the noise from moving furniture / scraping chairs from other rooms was an issue. Seems to impact on me in the majority of multi-tiered accommodation types! I also reckon that in the summer it could be a bit hot in the rooms.
Review 6:Excellent value for money with some really nice little touches that made the stay quite enjoyable. The bed / mattress was unbelievably comfortable!
Review 7:The only thing we did not like was the hard plastic sheet on the beds.
Review 8:Clean and big room with super balcony. Perfect location for walks into the citycenter.
Review 9:The mattresses that you could feel the springs. The internet was very slow with connectivity issues to the router.
Review 10:Decoration and space. Parking was a nice feature but when we visited outside was also easy.
Review 11:Traffic noise, when window or balcony door were open (otherwise not disturbing). Majority of the rooms have no sea view, contradictory to the hotel introduction in booking.com (we luckily had).
Review 12:A clean and comfortable apartment-hotel with spacious and modern rooms. Also good breakfast available for only 5 €. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 13:Our view was on the mountain side, not very scenic, while on the other side the view was very nice.. The hotel is a bit away from Santa Cruz de La Palma and the closest neighborhood of the hotel isn't great and it takes 10-15 minutes to walk to town, so the first impression was poorer than after a few days, when we knew everything better. The bed was a little bit noisy, I think they put some plastic sheet under bed linen that made the noise.
Review 14:Great service and friendliness from the staff. Plenty of good advices. The room was wonderful: spacious, with nice furniture and a nice kitchen. I got a rental car directly delivered to the hotel, all arranged by the hotel staff: an extra service that I didn't expect and that I appreciated a lot.
Review 15:Staff was very kind. Breakfast was excellent, small variety but good quality. Location was great as the closest bus stop was main bus station of the city.(be aware of the steep that shows in the images) the bus runs every direction of the island. good wifi connection.
Review 16:The hotel is in a place that has no charm and the view is rather industrial. The apartment was rather dark because it was quite long with only has one window at one of the narrow end (bedroom had its own window though)
Review 17:The price is ok for what you get Not too far from downtown Santa Cruz
Review 18:Breakfast very complete but could be improved (undrinkable coffee, salted butter only, some strange pastries) Lights can not be switched off on the balcony and patio at night
Review 19:Very spacious and confortable appartment Parking is very helpfull Lift Very nice photography exibition and painting of David Mendez in the breakfast room
Review 20:Even though the kitchen was quite new, is was badly equipped - worse than in other cheaper places. Our room was on the first floor on which we baisically slept over the street. Not only the street was loud, we even could hear the phone ringing and the receptionist talking like they were in the same room. From the garage you could smell the exhaust fume from the cars too!!! The desk clerk promissed us a better room, as we requested for the next day, but suddenly it wasnt possible anymore. The oppening times at the reception were not as communicated!. All in all: The rather high price compared to other cheaper and nicer places is not justified. We don't recomend to stay at this place!
Review 21:Big appartment, quite central located, but all rooms go to a street. The kitchen is nice and new which makes it possible to cook. El Galéon doesnt have a restaurant, but a deal with a very deliscous restaurant (la placeta) in the downtown of Santa Cruz.
Review 22:The location is a bit rough. No charm at all, with views on the industrial harbor. Apartment was rather dark. Quite deep (long) with only a front window
Review 23:Free closed covered parking
Review 24:Awesome breakfasts without fat, clean large rooms, free undeground parking. There are coupons for dinner and supper in the partner restaurant (15 euro).
Review 25:large and clean room, private parking spaces in a location in which is very difficult to find ones, 10 mins walking distance from harbour and city center.
Review 26:Little bit warm inside the hotel / apartment no airconditioning
Review 27:We had a late arrival by boat and staff was still around to help us with checkin. Nice comfortable apartment. We stayed only till early morning to catch a plane so didn't have time to completely enjoy the facilities.
Review 28:No kettle complaint, was no problem as we had pans and cooker hob. One way system complaint, was no problem, turn right follow signs to airport and arrive at port entrance. No bar/food facilities at hotel or nearby.
Review 29:The hotel is 5 minutes from the port and easy to find. Free WiFi. Onsite free parking. Very pleased with breakfast choices. Very helpful and pleasant multilingual staff. Once booked in, easy access at all hours. No traffic noise overnight.
Review 30:Some trouble with the internet that might be related to my computer.
Review 31:Clean, big appartment with all necessary equipment. Very friedly and serviceminded staff. Good and sufficient breakfast.
Review 32:Mattress was rather hard!
Review 33:Extremely well maintained, spacious and clean apartment in new purpose built building with secure underground parking included in price. Staff friendly and helpful. Good location, although it takes a few minutes to walk into the centre of Santa Cruz and route is up a rather steep road, but still manageable unless you have mobility problems. Great WiFi quality - this is usually a weak point in most hotels and apartments we've stayed in, including high end luxury hotels in major cities! This place had WiFi comparable to my home setup.
Review 34:The location is not very central. Breakfast not at the level of the rest.
Review 35:The apartment is quite luxurious: very nice kitchen, really well equipped; comfortable living room, lots of place where to store things. All the furniture seems new.
Review 36:Although the location is good, this it is offset by pollution from nearby traffic and from the ? oil refinery nearby. We would have given "excellent" for facilities with the addition of a reading lamp, microwave and a kettle!
Review 37:The deal that allows guests to avail of dinner at La Placeta restaurant is excellent and highly recommended. The location is very good for nearby SPAR shops and for catching local buses. WiFi and internet great.
Review 38:You can see the ferry port from the hotel, but beware, the road which runs down to it becomes one way half way down and you have to turn right. Then there are no signs to the port and we got lost. It took 35 mins to travel the 5 minute distance! Make sure you get directions if you need to get to the ferry early in the morning! We finally got there with only 5 mins to spare!
Review 39:The apartment was spotless and had everything you could need including a very good hairdryer!
Review 40:Rooms on the 1st floor don't have balcony (nor view)
Review 41:Cozy little hotel in a good location very near to the ferry port, parking in the garage. Very clean room, equipped with everything necessary. Kind receptionist. No cost for child who sleeps on the sofa.
Review 42:Although we were aware that there was no oven, we found that as the days passed it was a very missed piece of cooking equipment needed to fulfil the self catering experience. The pillows could have had more life in them as they were very flat, and the plug was missing in the bathroom which made shaving quite a task!
Review 43:Huge apartment with nearly everything we needed to enjoy a relaxing week away, perfectly situated within walking distance to the life and soul of the town. We. We're delighted with the terrace and the fantastic views over the docks.
Review 44:Housekeeping lets this property down. No kettle or corkscrew. Hot water in the morning only.
Review 45:Location good for town centre and apartment was a decent size.
Review 46:The apartment is new, spacious and clean. Very close to the centre although getting back is uphill. It has private free parking if you want to rent a car. excellent staff. If you don't want to be in the touristic area but rather in Santa Cruz it is highly recommended.
Review 47:The experience we had with this hotel was there no hot water to take a shower till after 18.00hrs, unbelievable for a 3* hotel. In the bathroom the contact for the hairdryer was hanging off the wall, dangerous for a bathroom, and several lamps needed replacing in the bedroom and bathroom. It appears the quality control in this hotel is sadly missing.
Review 48:The location was within walking distance to the town center, but it was uphill when returning. The rooms were quite spacious but no AC only a ceiling fan.
Review 49:Lack of air conditioning - bedroom very hot. Breakfast the same every day. Long walk to restaurants. Steep hill back up to hotel.
Review 50:Spacious and comfortable room. Clean. Terrace with sun loungers + large terrace shared with room next door. Economical hotel. Helpful, friendly staff.
Review 51:bed mattress too hard; bad sound insulation from outside and adjacent room
Review 52:helpful staff; good offer for breakfast; top floor rooms (large terrace) recommended
Review 53:no aircondition
Review 54:Very very clean. Location is great because it is very close to the city but also to the beach. walking dinstance - just a few minutes on feet. Free parking in basements. Very good breakfast. Very nice roof-deck
Review 55:I've put the location as 'good' only because it's up a steep hill from the town, but it is near the ferry terminal.
Review 56:Everything! I had a studio apartment which was fitted out and furnished to a very high standard - luxury! Great staff too.
Review 57:Uncomfortable beds /mattresses
Review 58:Convenient location closed to city center and ferry, breakfast
Review 59:location
Review 60:breakfast included
Review 61:Well equipped, clean, spacious and much more than we expected.
Review 62:Good service from the staff Location near town Excellent WiFi
Review 63:no aircondition, which makes it too hot inside. Needed to open the window
Review 64:friendly helpful staff, close to harbour
Review 65:Difficult checking in late at night. No reception staff and automated answer phone only in Spanish
Review 66:El Galeon is situated so that you can enjoy a fine view over the harbour and is just five minutes from the centre of town.
Review 67:smell of smoke
Review 68:the adjacent area doesn't offer much
Review 69:modern and spacious apartments, good wifi connection, friendly staff
Review 70:Next to main carriageway
Review 71:Cleanliness Internet speed
Review 72:Very useful to be able to park the car
Review 73:Large spacious apartment. Nice furnishings and very clean
Review 74:Nothing
Review 75:The apartment was huge. Two massive bedrooms, a lounge, well equipped kitchen and long entrance hall. Clean and comfortable.
Review 76:- good location : 5 mn walk from calle o'daly - good facilities (big kitchen, nice bathroom) - baby cot - nice staff
Review 77:Great alternative to a hotel room - spacious, comfy, allows living like a local
Review 78:Lack of kettle and beverage sachets in rooms. No air conditioner so slept with windows n balcony door open. Luckily no bugs but a bit noisy at times. I wish hotels had a mini clothesline! Yet so restful we stayed an extra night.
Review 79:Spacious rooms: bedroom, living; dining; kitchen areas. Large bed. Lovely breakfast except no hot food. Rare private free underground parking.very easy to find from ferry. Gorgeous island.
Review 80:Great place to stay while in La Palma. Short walk to the center of Santa Cruz with plenty of good restaurants and tapas bars. Very friendly and welcoming hotel staff. Free parking, which is a big plus in Spain. We will be back!
Review 81:no territory & balkony
Review 82:The really spacious & cozy room with the good bathroom kitchen free Wi-Fi & parking just 800m from ferry. Wonderful seaview.
Review 83:This hotel is in an excellent location near the port and the city centre. The rooms are large and well furnished. The kitchen has all you need for self catering. There is also a large terrace for sunbathing. Free underground parking is available. Very good value for money.
Review 84:Coffee at breakfast was from a machine and not that good. Otherwise one of the best breakfasts around.
Review 85:Staff very helpful. Good breakfast with a wide choice of local and international items. Huge room (bigger than we paid for). Well outfitted rooms. Has parking.
Review 86:Apartments are up on the terrace - expect to climb the stairs or circle around if you don't have car
Review 87:Receptionist waiting for late check-in SPAR supermarket minutes away
Review 88:Limited reception hours (not warned that reception did not open until 5pm before we arrived). Minimal toiletries - no soap provided even to wash your hands after using the toilet! Information in room was out of date, and conflicted with what you were told at reception. Kitchenette was modern and clean, but would have been improved by having an electric kettle and some form of oven facilities (combi microwave/convection/grill oven would be ideal for example, and not expensive). No instructions were provided for kitchen equipment (potentially dangerous). Seemed a pity that you had to pay to use the room safe, but they provided free parking and free Wi-Fi - did not make sense! Too few staff at breakfast to clear tables and replenish breakfast items at times. A bit slow in responding to repairing faults in room, and one light never did get fixed. Dampness on inside of bedroom wall needs attention. Not a very good view from the balcony in our room. Only a ceiling fan, and no air conditioning - not a problem when we stayed in February, but might be at other times.
Review 89:Overall very good. Good selection at breakfast. Good quality and spacious apartment. Convenient position for the town, and quiet. Free off street parking and free Wi-Fi. However, if hiring a car, make sure that you hire a small one, as the access to the underground parking is cramped!
Review 90:The lack of a kettle and soap! The drag of a kilometre up from decent restaurants - La Lonja and La Placetta. To be fair it's difficult to walk a km anywhere on the island without climbing a hill!
Review 91:A spacious apartment with an interesting (mountain) view. Free parking on site. Good reasonably priced breakfasts available. Friendly staff.
Review 92:Others had commented that reception is not always manned. I didn't realise that this actually meant there was no one in the building. We arrived at 4pm and had to use a mobile to ring the appropriate number and were then told that we would have to wait 15 minutes for the receptionist to make her way there! Bit bizarre really.
Review 93:Very convenient for the ferry which arrives at 10pm and leaves at 5.30am so it was good to be 10 mins walk from the terminal. As such we only stayed two separate nights for convenience of travel and di not make any use of the kitchen etc. Ten minutes walk to the main part of town.
Review 94:Nothing! Will be back.
Review 95:We arrived on a 10pm ferry and the hotel was just minutes away. Secure car parking, receptionist expecting us. Large beautifully specified and finished apartment. Even breakfast was included in the price! What value for money. Lovely base to explore Santa Cruz.
Review 96:could have benefited from microwave or oven. A hand rail on edge of bath would have been safer to avoid slipping whilst climbing out.
Review 97:Very spacious and clean, pleasant helpful staff. Location suited us as quite near the old town.
Review 98:We could not acess the "solarium" as the door was locked even though it was within the advertised hours.
Review 99:Very clean and with good facilities. We like the balcony and the closeness to the port/town centre
Review 100:The staff at the reception had not the best attitude, not that they were rude but they seem not caring much about their job. Also the cleaning came in early each morning and we didn't have a "Don't disturb" tag to hang in the door, so we had to ask in the reception that they clean later
Review 101:The size of the apartment and that it was very clean
Review 102:Not all rooms have a balcony (even if mentioned differently by booking.com), so you'd better insist when making your reservation. Traffic noise (the Santa Cruz bypass highway is actually just underneath your window). Not all rooms have microwave oven (and there's no oven either).
Review 103:Very nice and helpful staff. The rooms/apartments are of very high standard, cosy and tasteful. The whole establishment is comfortable and clean. Self-service laundry (small fee). Convenient underground parking. Very decent breakfast (except for the coffee...).
Review 104:Hardly anything, apart from never hot water in kitchen tap but ok in bathroom. Missed a kettle.
Review 105:Excellent location with lovely view over harbour and sea. Spacious and comfortable 2-bedroom apartment (as booked). All staff very friendly. Ample parking space in basement.
Review 106:- the balcony door didn´t lock (big security risk) - no kettle, oven, table lamp, condiments, coffee, tea - hot water not always available
Review 107:- spacious apartment - well equipped - near the port and downtown Santa Cruz - secure underground parking - friendly staff
Review 108:One of the reasons we stayed here is that it was handy for our late ferry from La Gomera but it is up a hill and you might want to get a taxi rather than carry your bag.
Review 109:Lovely new apartment with well equipped kitchenette and nice bathroom which is walking distance from the old town and buses for around the island. We were touring but you could easily use this as a base for the week. However, the climate seemed better on the west of the island when we were there in November and Los Llanos with a nice old centre and good transport connections is an alternative.
Review 110:Another perfect stay at Aparthotel El Galeón. The apartment was clean, quiet, very spacious and well equipped. The staff were really friendly. Parking and wifi just fine. Nice location just outside the main town center. Highly recommended!!
Review 111:Everything. I stayed there 7 nights. The room was a big apartment. The kitchen fully equiped and very clean. The stuff was amazing and the breakfast very good. Internet was faster than I would hope. I had Skype meetings with video easily! And private parking. The only thing is that you need to walk 10 minutes to the city center if you don't have a car, and going back is uphill. But rental cars come cheep in La Palma.
Review 112:A personal thing, but the bed was slightly uncomfortable for me. But this wouldn't stop me staying here again.
Review 113:the location was great, near the town, the port and fantastic views. The room was a large apartment, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The patio was enormous
Review 114:There is nothing that I do not like!
Review 115:It is an apartment with one bedroom for two and a living room and a kitchen full with kitchen-ware; for less then €50 per person per night!
Review 116:Very beautiful and spacious rooms with a very nice bathroom and a large terasse. A big kitchen, were you could enjoy cooking. Everything is very clean and the funiture is very new and careful selected. The staff at the reception were very friendly and helpful.
Review 117:No microwave or electric jug, but induction hotplates which are not easy to operate. Our apartment, which had a small double bed (not queen or king size) was much smaller than the next-door one with 2 single beds. So a single person gets much more space - where's the logic in that?
Review 118:Very smart executive-style apartments with high quality furniture and fittings. The breakfast at E5 was very good.
Review 119:Lighting in the livingroom. Very bright, no possibility to dim, or use other lamp.
Review 120:Very spacious balcony (apt. 403), overlooking a part of the harbour and the opposing mountain. Beautiful bathroom. Kind reception, not available between 13.00 and 17.00, so arrive before or after.
Review 121:I loved everything. Hotel is located only few min from main street, girl at the reception was very helpful, breakfast was lovely, room was very spacious. I would recommend this hotel to everyone:)
Review 122:a bit of a steep hill up to the hotel but if we could manage it most people could
Review 123:the apartment was very large was surprised that we had two large bedrooms a separate kitchen and a very large sitting/dining area , we had a view over the port with plenty to watch when we chose to sit outside kitchen seemed to be brand new loved it all
Review 124:Mainly the location - our room, although it had a bit of seaview, mainlyoverlooked a motorway and was there was a lot of traffic noise. Althoughit was advertised as very convenient for the ferry, was a brisk 15minute walk.
Review 125:Functional and good bathroom. Nice furniture although lots of scratchesthat need attention.
Review 126:The description on your website that this hotel is only 'a fewmetres from the sea' is untrue unless you have wings. It is actuallya good 15 minutes walk from the port and harbour, much further from thebeach which is not great. It was not clear that breakfast was notincluded in the price
Review 127:Convenient for town and great bus routes all over the island Great andinteresting views over the sea and port. Very friendly and helpful staffAccommodation comfortable, spacious and very pleasant. La Cruz is agreat destination for walkers.
Review 128:No negative comments to be made
Review 129:Very nice persons at the reception large appartment kitchen wellequipped comfortable- very clean breakfast was nice
Review 130:I wish I had gotten a room with more sea view, but then again Ididn't ask for it upon booking half a week before I came here. Buton the other hand, I enjoyed the green mountain view very much whilerelaxing in the room, and you do get sea view on the way down thelittle hill to the center of the city. Lovely to wake up to the freshair! There was no gluten free options in the hotel's breakfastbuffet, and I found it hard to find bread in the supermarkets, but uponasking, most restaurants/cafe's had something I could eat sothere was no problem, all in all. Would recommend Cafe Confort, theymake a nice omelette, that they kindly served me with gluten-free breadupon request.
Review 131:Basically, I loved this aparthotel! Fairly good views over thefantastic mountains, room was spacious and comfortable, the staff wasfriendly and helpful. Loved the balcony and the homey-feel of the room. You got mountains and nature when opening the balcony door in themorning, which was exactly what I wanted, and it was close to the cityand shopping/restaurants, not to mention all the historicarchitecture, but still with a nice short distance to the sometimesmore lively "downtown" area, so it was also completely quietjust about 24/7.
