Reviews for Westminster Hôtel & Spa

Review 1:Very disappointed with the room my mother had, it was very cold and she is 94 and came to help me celebrate my birthday, it lacked the charm of the other rooms

Review 2:Lovely hotel & very helpful staff, my room and 3 of the other rooms were very nice

Review 3:Bar expensive I beleve. No tea or coffee making facilities. But not gonna gripe!

Review 4:Luxurious & very comfortable.Great ambiance.Bedrooms fresh, clean & spacious. Wonderful position to appreciate the Christmas lights and experience in Le Touquet. Health spa very good ( gym would make it complete ).

Review 5:There was nothing we didn't like. Would have liked a wider choice of wines in the bar.

Review 6:The room, the food, the friendly efficient staff, the location, the Christmas lights outside and the decorations inside.

Review 7:My husband and I have stayed at this hotel on many occasions as we love everything about the hotel, location and the town of Le Touquet. Especially at this time of year, the Christmas lights and Christmas Trees look absolutely amazing. We bring different friends every year to show off your wonderful town. Thank you

Review 8:The concierge staff as you entered and left the building were grumpy to say the least and did not seem to smile. The Reception staff though were friendly and helpful. Bearing in mind the costs and the prestige associated with the Hotel the bathroom shower and bath were of poor quality.

Review 9:Location good, food good, serving staff very friendly. Bar staff very welcoming. Beds very comfortable. 'Old School' style of Hotel very nice including all the old photos.

Review 10:No tea/coffee making facilities in room and I felt the price for breakfast at €20 each per day was excessive.El

Review 11:It's ambiance, chicness and generous room sizes. The friendly and helpful staff and it's excellent location for all the amenities that Le Touquet has to offer

Review 12:However we went in November and the room was so warm we had to sleep with windows open every night. No air con and quite noisy from 5.30am. Would prevent me booking anytime during the warmer weather.

Review 13:Couldn't really fault hotel, staff and public spaces

Review 14:Not any complaint. Perhaps absence of a gym (while the swimming pool is fantastic). And complicated implementation of television use in the room. Perhaps too slow WiFi... But really: these are small problems.

Review 15:Everything. Great hotel!

Review 16:The rooms/bathrooms are a little "tired" and mobility access in the bathrooms is an issue. We fnd this is quite common in French hotels, unlike in the UK.

Review 17:Impressive hotel throughout

Review 18:We've stayed in lots of hotels in Le Touquet and they're all OK, but you always wish you were in The Westminster. I know it's a bit more expensive, but it's worth it. An historic hotel in a gorgeous town.

Review 19:Not genuinely bad, but found food [breakfasts and one dinner] to be of moderate standard only

Review 20:A very pleasant and comfortable room. Staff were agreeable and helpful.

Review 21:The bedrooms are worn and tatty. The bed was small with a large headboard. No shower in the bathroom. The indoor pool is too small.

Review 22:The bar was cosy. The 2 restaurants excellent. The Brasserie worth a visit for the buffet. The location in the town is excellent with a very short walk to shops, restaurants and 10 minutes to beach and forest.

Review 23:The only thing we are not that keen on, is that you cannot park your own car but have to rely on the porter who insists on carrying all your luggage also to the room (for a tip of course). Whilst some people might welcome this service we would prefer to do it ourselves.

Review 24:This is the best hotel in Le Touquet with lovely big foyers, bars and the old-fashioned lifts. Our room was very spacious and comfortable and the bathroom was very good. The bed was very comfortable.

Review 25:Food could have been better after breakfast disappointing didn't both with evening meal in hotel

Review 26:Excellent location with very friendly helpful staff

Review 27:The Pavillion restaurant was grossly overpriced and service was not up to the mark. We were left with empty water glasses for quite some time

Review 28:Location, classic style and breakfast

Review 29:only minor complaint no blind on the bathroom window and sun shone through early morning due to sloping windows in bedroom

Review 30:Lovely hotel in good location

Review 31:Very tired looking throughout hotel Staff weren't overly friendly Feel like they were trading on their past history. WiFi didn't work. Restaurant was full when tried to book, despite being told 10 mins previously that it had spaces - felt like this wasn't true.

Review 32:Nice location 1920s/30s feel

Review 33:The hotel was just perfect setting ! amples of parking which is fantastically safe , just a wonderful place and staff could not have done enough for you .

Review 34:We have stayed at the Westminster many, many times over the years and always been reasonably satisfied. However for some reason they no longer offer tea/coffee making facilities in the room. We asked for coffee to be brought to our room on waking one morning and imagine our disgust to find they had charged 18 euros for two coffees. We are aware that room service is usually a little extra, but 18 euros is surely over the top. On leaving Le Touquet we spotted a Macdonalds, not a place we have visited before, but called in for two takeaway coffees and the cost, 2.80 euros, far superior coffee as well. Never again, Westminster, really dislike being ripped off!

Review 35:Location

Review 36:felt that we did not get the best room we could have had, although we were early and were able to get a room - but the view was obscured by the front arch of the hotel and there looks like only two of these rooms with this obstruction 401 & 402

Review 37:fantastic location and wonderful hotel

Review 38:rooms outdated, worn. charged 10 Euros for one cup of filter coffee in the morning...this left us with a very bad taste in our mouths.

Review 39:staff were well trained and very welcoming. buffet restaurant very good value, in fact many locals take advantage of the great food at reasonable prices.

Review 40:Room was poorly furnished and bathroom needed upgrade. Wi Fi didn't work on iphone

Review 41:Vintage style with modern touch. Town centre location. Free parking

Review 42:Surly, rude receptionist, being put into probably the worst room 4th floor and furthest from the lift.Wifi cut in and out in most places and was difficult to reconnect needing a resubmission of password. Unwelcoming, a horrid stay.

Review 43:Leaving! Breakfast was good as was the bed comfort, but overall a horrible experience. Would not recommend.

Review 44:The most expensive and poorly executed pedicure. Very hot room - but no air conditioning. We had to ask for a creaking fan.

Review 45:The location and antique décor and lifts.

Review 46:In room wifi was terrible, at times the connection didn't exist at all. Too few staff on duty at breakfast, although the breakfast itself was good.

Review 47:Location. Parking.

Review 48:The swimming pool is a bit small and there is not enough light in the room

Review 49:Location is really awesome. The hotel style is charming and the restaurant Le Pavillon (1 star Michelin) was quite good.

Review 50:No air conditioning the room was far to hot No tea/coffee making facilities was a problem

Review 51:Location of the Hotel is perfect Sauna Staff on the whole very polite and helpful

Review 52:tiny bedroom on 4th floor, taps gave out just a trickle of water. Absolutely dire. Terrible wifi , kept cutting out.

Review 53:Location, history of hotel, oldy worldy.

Review 54:Bedroom a bit hot. Air conditioning would be good. People in park late at night were noisy.

Review 55:Clean comfortable and spacious bedroom. Room to sit in bedroom

Review 56:The hotel is in a fab location to be able to walk into town. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and every part of the hotel is cleaned to a very high standard. Great bar with an outdoor terrace, all in all perfect. It's my first time at the hotel but my Dad and sister have stayed before and honestly we wouldn't stay anywhere else now. Thank you Westminster Hotel

Review 57:The service is zero, concierge, very rude, reception very rude, duty manager not experienced in handling complaints. Rooms? Need serious refreshing.

Review 58:Nothing, this place is really bad, would seriously avoid

Review 59:Breakfast not so good unfortunately. Not much choice. The 'hot' food was stone cold.

Review 60:We had an executive double room. Very spacious and extremely comfortable, even though it was a little basic for this type of room. They do the best ever Margaritas in the cocktail bar.

Review 61:1) cost 2) no tea and coffee facilities in the room 3) Wifi connection was poor/ had to regularly login

Review 62:The hotel is beautiful and is superbly located.

Review 63:Only problem - wifi is very patchy and you have to re log in with the long code every few minutes

Review 64:Lovely hotel - beautiful in the sunshine and a great please for a few nights away! I

Review 65:Second time we stayed here. Just on the edge of town and a beautiful classic hotel. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Easy walk to the main town and the beach will be back again I'm sure

Review 66:Ridiculous pillows on the bed. Room was noisy at night as the windows needed to be open because there was no a/c

Review 67:Wonderful building with lots of history. Good location in a lovely town

Review 68:Would be nice to have air conditioning. The lifts were frequently out of action as other clients did not close doors.

Review 69:Lovely bar and terrace with excellent attentive staff. Rooms were clean and recently refurbished to give a modern twist without losing style of hotel.

Review 70:the hotel lacked any atmosphere whatsoever, No air conditioning which was a pain on a hot July night

Review 71:Large bedroom and bathroom, decent breakfast and free secure parking.

Review 72:Breakfast terrible, little choice and tables not cleared after use. Hotel service is based on good management, not based on tradition!!!

Review 73:Great location and fantastic building

Review 74:Poor plumbing in bathroom and a lack of air conditioning. Have stayed here before and been able to park at front of hotel- this year we were told that residents had to park at rear as front was for restaurant guests only. Most of the time the front( more convenient) car park was EMPTY.....guests have to walk in past bins, through spa and up a floor to main reception, spoiling one of the chief attractions of this lovely hotel, that of arriving in style. Now one arrives like a delivery man!

Review 75:Style of hotel, ambience and location

Review 76:1. Too expensive for my pocket for multiple nights

Review 77:1. Location - ability to walk to shops and beach direct from hotel - car stayed in car park! 2. Good sized quality room & beds, with slight old-fashioned feel 3. Great breakfast at a price (20 Euro per person) 4. Great customer service from staff 5. Great way to feel like a King for one night! Great way for once-off treat/ feel-good factor

Review 78:Such a beautiful hotel and though I only had a single room it was of a good size with a generous bathroom. The food is excellent; the brasserie's buffet is vast and very reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Review 79:Would have liked tea/coffee making facilities in the room - especially first thing in the morning.

Review 80:Peace & quiet of the hotel at night, excellent night's sleep.

Review 81:bad wifi amenities in room and bathroom very sparse for a 4* hotel

Review 82:slightly faded gentility effecient staff comfortable rooms and general areas perfect for a fime set location

Review 83:the fact we had only booked for 1 night!

Review 84:we booked last minute and the whole experience was superb. the hotel is what other hotels in the area must benchmark themselves against. a very pleasant experience and great value for money - will return

Review 85:Bedroom and en suite serviceable but needs refurbishment to match quality elsewhere.

Review 86:The A1 restaurant was excellent in terms of food preparation and delivery. The A2 restaurant was good but short of the A1 restaurant excellence by some margin

Review 87:The hotel is totally outdated and the public facilities badly in need of a refurb. The bar and public lounge look like they haven't had a freshening up in a long, long time. The walls of the hallway that leads to the restaurants are lined with an impressive array of photos and signatures from many of the famous people who have stayed at the hotel throughout the years but unfortunately it seems that the days of The Westminster being a "luxury resort" destination appear to have passed. We ate in the Michelin starred restaurant during our stay and my husband asked if he could order a piece of fish for his main course that was only listed in the prix fix 95 euro menu as an a la cart item without having to take the whole degustation menu. The bill came and we had been charged 60 euros for that piece Turbot to be a la carte which seemed an extortionate amount considering that the prix fix menu was a full 4 courses and cheese. We didn't complain but we won't be going back.

Review 88:The bedroom was recently refurbished and clean, bed was comfortable and had a good shower.

Review 89:Nothing

Review 90:We have stayed here before a couple of years ago. We decided to treat ourselves to a repeat stay as it was our wedding anniversary. The hotel offers a good level of comfort and style. It is not cheap but you can get a reasonable deal by booking early. The rooms have been renovated since our last visit and everything was spotlessly clean. We were up on the 4th floor and unfortunately the free wifi did not reach all the way up there. We don't eat a lot of breakfast and therefore can't do justice to the high price on offer. The hotel is in a central position close to the shops and restaurants and has easy onsite parking. We are already planning a return visit next year!

Review 91:Rooms poor décor, both evenings the restaurant was full so we had to eat it out. hotel looks great from the outside but needs attention on the inside. Breakfast poor cooked choice.

Review 92:Location of hotel very good

Review 93:I booked an executive room for 3 nights Fri-Sun , asked if I could change room because the shower had to be held by hand whilst in the bath (no wall mount or shower curtain) and was advised by reception it was an old hotel and they were full! but could offer me a change of room on Sunday! We had breakfast once, chaotic is probably a fair description. Once upon a time this Hotel was special not any more!

Review 94:Staff attitude was not good, you had to ask for attention and service, it was not forthcoming from the staff at all. At check out, it was obvious we were British, and even though her English was perfect, we were always addressed in French. There was an overall feeling of "meanness", every penny was accounted for, and this penny-pinching attitude let the whole experience down.

Review 95:Love the location and the building

Review 96:Having read reviews before booking I was aware there were no tea or coffee facilities in the room. It still would have been nice to have been able to make a drink when you wanted one. Still if that was the only grumble, it shows how nice the hotel is.

Review 97:Ideally situated for a week-end stay in Le Touquet. The hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly.

Review 98:My only disappointment is that there is no kettle and therefore no hot drinking facility in the room and we British do like our cup of tea or coffee first thing to get ourselves going!

Review 99:This hotel has a great location to take a lovely walk into town. From the moment we drove up the staff were courteous and helpful. We went with friends. They gave us an adjoining room. Rooms were nicely decorated. Everything you needed was there including dressing gowns and slippers! And the beds were really comfortable. It rained one night so we thought we would eat in one of the 2 restaurants and I'm really pleased we did because we had fabulous food. Originally we were not going to eat in the hotel because there are so many restaurants in Le Touquet but I wouldn't hesitate to eat there again. We used the pool, sauna and jacuzzi and had it all to ourselves. I have stayed in other hotels in Le Touquet but in honesty I will now only return to this one.

Review 100:Just would say that the shower in the bath is not high enough for someone of 5 ft 10 inches or more, and pillows need replacing.

Review 101:The bedrooms on the ground floor are part of the old look. Clean, gracious, quiet. The swimming pool great. Standard continues to be high. Carpark a bonus.

Review 102:Breakfast was quite limited if you are wheat intolerent though the fruit was very plentiful and pleasantly presented.

Review 103:The hotel staff were extremely efficient and very friendly. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.

Review 104:Not much choice for breakfast, apart from cereals and fruit, there was only scrambled eggs and bacon, mushrooms or grilled tomatoes would have made it much better

Review 105:Good room size and good location

Review 106:Very expensive, we could have stayed in the Hilton park lane for the same money. The breakfast was aweful. €20 for Runny scrambled eggs, no sausages available 45 mins before end of service although the bacon was ok.

Review 107:The location was excellent

Review 108:It is in the pricey side but, you get what you pay for.

Review 109:Wonderful hotel with charming professional and courteous staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect for exploring Le Touquet. Breakfast will set you up for the day with an array of choices to suit all tastes.

Review 110:Restaurant not open tuesday and Wednesday so ate once in Brasserie. Unlimited tasteless salad bar for 33 euros. Reception staff bizarrely indifferent even though desk situated right by entrance and refused to make eye contact or greet one verbally, unusual for France. The room was a converted attic room with small high windows which I couldn't see out of. No curtains in bathroom (windows lower than bedroom) so no privacy once the lights were on. Worst of all NO tea or coffee making facilities and tiny bottles of water etc in mini bar (no alcohol) were upwards of 5 euros.

Review 111:Comfortable bed and good tv with full bbc and world news coverage. Plenty of hanging and storage space.

Review 112:Beautiful building in an excellent location. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. We booked a classic double room but the bed seemed bigger than a standard double and was probably the most comfortable I have slept in away from home! Lovely! Breakfast was good but I'm not sure that it was value for money at 20 euros per person though. Free wi-if is handy but it did keep booting me out so having to log back in became a bit of a pain but these are minor points. Overall our stay was extremely enjoyable and would highly recommend.

Review 113:Breakfast hideously overpriced (over €20!) so we went elsewhere. A bit dated but far from awful.

Review 114:Close to the town centre and easy to walk down to the beach. Friendly staff and a comfy bed, on-site safe parking..

Review 115:The view from the window was a wall. Would like to have been informed that there was work being undertaken during our stay. The bath was a bit on the slim side

Review 116:The room was very clean. The staff was very helpful.

Review 117:Some of the public rooms could be improved.

Review 118:An excellent and interesting hotel in a great location. All facilities areccarrfully thought out. Current building refurbishment was a concern, but not noticed.

Review 119:Nothing.

Review 120:Beautiful Art Deco Foyer and Dining Rooms and upstairs the bedrooms have been refurbished with lovely modern bathroom, extremely comfortable bed and very nice décor which retains a hint of the original deco style. Very friendly, efficient staff and lovely cocktails.

Review 121:Got a terrible tiny room, it had a single bed! The housekeeping staff came round in the evening when I was out and removed all my towels!

Review 122:Location, nice hotel!

Review 123:No tea & coffee facilities in room and room service was extortionate. Staff were not very helpful. Shower was pitifull

Review 124:Excellent location close to town center resturants.

Review 125:The shower is in the bathtub which is really too small for my taste

Review 126:The old style so chic , the staff, the breakfast, the drinks outside un the sunshine, our room was big and lovely and the location (close to everything but quiet!)

Review 127:Everything from the warm and efficient welcome, the large and comfortable room, the wonderful evening buffet and the delicious and plentiful breakfast, we will be back.

Review 128:Pool was small and would not have accommodated many swimmers very easily! Breakfast was overpriced at 20 Euros

Review 129:Hotel location was good. Staff very helpful in locating us a ground floor room. The room was quite spacious and reasonably furnished.

Review 130:We were surprised at the price of breakfast and had assumed it was part of the high price It was also a pain getting the concierge out of the hotel every time we needed the car from the parking

Review 131:The location was good

Review 132:A bit snobby at front desk. Tiny single room Interior rather outdated than historical. Few plugs Few towels No guest slippers Simple pool with just two deck chairs

Review 133:To smell history. Car service by Concierge Received big discount the day before Eastern Ham and Eggs with breakfast Bath robe

Review 134:The Pavilion restaurant was not open at the time of our visit, hence our dining in the Bistro where the tables for two were far too small.

Review 135:The Westminster fully lived up to our expectations as a luxury hotel, and we particularly enjoyed it's Art Deco styling and ambiance.

Review 136:I thought the receptionist was very "stuffy" and the rest of the staff weren't that friendly. WiFi didn't work.

Review 137:Lovely hotel in a very central location. The hotel was very comfortable, clean, luxurious - a very nice stay.

Review 138:No idea how to make tea ! Warm water , cold cup, UHT milk , one weak teabag....oh dear. In an 'English ' hotel, too. Stuffy room, window would not open a little. all or nothing. Expensive: small glass Kir Royal €18.

Review 139:We liked everything, the room 315,the dinner and breakfast ,the kindness of the staff, especially that shown to my husband .the concierge helped him to our room and then brought him a wheelchair when we were leaving.ww
