Reviews for Hôtel Château des Jacobins
Review 1:Excellent location with private car park. Pleasant welcome and very unique homely atmosphere in an old family chateau. Would stay again when in the area on holiday.
Review 2:The public lounge is occupied by the owner's elderly and infirm grandmother. There is a notice on the gate that informed us that the reception is closed between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. If arriving by car phone ahead to arrange for the gates to be opened.
Review 3:We had a lovely elegant ground floor room that opened onto the terrace. We enjoyed breakfast just outside our room.
Review 4:Bed was a little uncomfortable however this was only a minor flaw in an otherwise enjoyable experience.
Review 5:Architecture and interior designe was lovely. Location great. Very welcoming proprietor.
Review 6:Breakfast was a little uninspiring - cold rolls and not particularly fluffy croissants and yoghurt. Served on the 'terrace' in front of the chateau, (essentially in the car park)!
Review 7:Lovely, friendly host - very openminded. Beautiful decor, stayed with 2 kids in 1x family room which had 2x small doubles. Has aircon. Very secure gated courtyard parking - so good for leaving a fully loaded car overnight. Stones throw from centre of town... Try La Cucina Italian restaurant - GREAT with kids. Fab stay basically, for the money, you won't find better.
Review 8:Be aware that you must CALL the owner to tell him your exact arrival time, or he may not be there to open the gate. He comes quickly when you call.
Review 9:Steeped in history, this grand house behind tall walls has been owned and occupied by the same family for generations. We had a large room with very high ceilings, filled with antiques, but all the modern conveniences, good wifi, nice TV. The common areas are painted with rich colors that set off the antiques and paintings. Breakfast was lovely, served inside one of the main rooms, because it was raining a bit during our stay. Many good restaurants are steps away down Ave. Richard Coeur De Leon. Great location in the center of town to walk to the sights.
Review 10:Nothing
Review 11:Lovely host and a great room filled with antiques. The bathroom was spacious and the breakfast excellent. We will certainly be back when in Agen.
Review 12:breakfast - typical French (too sweet), no ham or cheese / only jam.
Review 13:close to city center (and restaurants), very nice owner, parking and wifi free of charge, very nice room and bathroom (quite big),
Review 14:For a 3-star hotel in a touristically not overly exciting provincialtown the price of Euro 150 (incl. Breakfast) double/per nightlooks excessive
Review 15:Central location
Review 16:We were personally and warmly greeted by the owner who made us very welcome throughout. This is a very comfortable boutique hotel with a quirky charm. There is no evening meal offered but breakfast was lovely and staff attentively efficient. We had a great stay and all at the last moment so our double thanks.
Review 17:Rather restrictive - ok if you're expecting it but I wasn't. the only staff in the afternoon appeared to be one man. After about 8 .30 pm one had to let oneself in to the front of the hotel and there seemed to be no way of accessing the car area at the back - breakfast was served at a pre- arranged time in the courtyard which was effectively the carpark,
Review 18:Excellent Family atmosphere
Review 19:LACK OF ANY NORMAL HOTEL FACILITIES. DAY OR NIGHT COULD ONLY ENTER USING SECURITY KEY CODED DOOR LOCK AS THE PROPRIETOR DID NOT WANT GUESTS MOVING FREELY IN AND OUT LIKE IT WAS A "RAILWAY STATION" NO SITTING AREA OR BAR FELT SORRY FOR PROPRIETORS ELDERL FRAIL MOTHER WANDERING AROUND ON A WALKING FRAME BUT IT WAS A BIT OFF PUTING MOST EXPENSIVE ROOM STOP WE HAD ON OUR CYCLING TOUR
Review 20:GOOD LOCATION IN AGEN
Review 21:What's not to like. It's not a slick commercial style hotel so accept the occasional eccentricities and immerse yourself.
Review 22:Makes you feel like a local. Appears to be frequented by the smart set.
Review 23:Building and location. Also given good recommendation for dinner close by.
Review 24:Not applicable
Review 25:Very good location. Helpful owner, tranquil setting.
Review 26:Wonderful building. Personable hotelier. We felt like guests in a splendid French home. Great location.
Review 27:No assistance with our baggage on check in
Review 28:Old fashioned architecture - good bathroom
Review 29:Arriving by car and being unable to access the parking area as gates were closed.

Review 39:Lovely to stay in a chateau. Well looked after by proprietor. Very pleasant breakfast on terrace.
Review 40:The internet could be improved but only because I was on business.
Review 41:The staff was wonderful and the hotel is very comfortable and inviting.
Review 42:Location close to Motorway for a one night stop Ambiance and atmosphere of hotel Like a private home
Review 43:Was quite expensive. Had to share the breakfast table with other clients.
Review 44:Excellent Wi-Fi all over the hotel. Nice traditional building of good quality. Nice friendly staff.
Review 45:Stairs but it would spoil the character of the building to put a lift in, so no dislikes really.
Review 46:Very helpful and willing to help. Good advice on where to go. Good secure parking. A very attractive and interesting building well positioned in the town. Quiet at night.
Review 47:We did not dislike anything about the hotel .
Review 48:A very nice hotel in the center of Agen . We have stayed at this hotel twice yearly for over 25 years and it is still charming and welcoming .
Review 49:Breakfast was overpriced Rooms are basic but clean No 'hotel' facilities like an area to sit and relax / bar etc.
Review 50:Quirky hotel in the centre of Agen with secure parking
Review 51:This is not a Hotel. This is an expensive B&B . No bar, no cold drinks - in fact outside the room which was old fashioned but ok and the secure parking nothing more
Review 52:Great location and helpful owner .
Review 53:There was nothing we didn't like.
Review 54:Beautiful 19th century mansion, imaginatively furnished with antiques. We were welcomed by the enthusiastic owner, who treated as more as oldfriends than paying clients. He expressed interest in our reasons forstaying overnight (we were attending the New Year's Eve luxuryDinner at the nearby Mariottat Restaurant and wished to avoid the 40minute drive home when we left after midnight). It was a delight to bestaying in a one-off hotel rather than one that was operated by ananonymous chain. There are certainly cheaper places in Agen, but wedoubt if any of them have the character, atmosphere, warm welcome andsecure parking that we found at the Château des Jacobins.
Review 55:Minimal public spaces and a little dusty throughout.
Review 56:19tg Century house with decor to match.
Review 57:Charming host. Pleasant atmosphere in a lovely, interesting chateau.
Review 58:the scenario, the rooms and the welcoming
Review 59:Helpful owner Very French and very much a house rather than hotel. Good breakfast Secure parking for bike
Review 60:Needed a mirror in the bedroom.
Review 61:Location, secure easy parking ,warmth of reception and helpful staff . Quirky.
Review 62:Everything Would come back
Review 63:Very accommodating.
Review 64:The poor wifi connection.
Review 65:The welcome by Stephane and his grandmother and the comfort.
