Reviews for Domaine de Givré

Review 1:Our hosts were very helpful with restaurant and tourist attraction suggestions. Very private and comfortable accommodation separate from family home. Variety of breakfast choices provided. English speaking.

Review 2:Ronan and Vero were great hosts, who made us feel welcome from the second we arrived. They were also very helpful with restaurant/ wine suggestions.

Review 3:Veron is a charming host, very warm, and good hearted listener. Helped us with all our needs, including dinner reservations and many other local excursion ideas you might desire. She always turned on our porch light, so we could find our way home after dark. We thoroughly enjoyed a satisfying breakfast and light conversation with Veron and her family before we began each day's new adventure. The bedroom has a separate entry and not part of the main house, very quite and private. Amazing 15th century structure and grounds. A great place for a holiday.

Review 4:Nothing

Review 5:Our room (suite) was charming and comfortable. The ancient wine facility had been tastefully updated to preserve its character while giving it modern comforts. The owners are very friendly and helpful...wonderful hosts. We felt relaxed and welcome, and would love to stay there again!

Review 6:I can't think of a single negative: not one!

Review 7:Veronique and Ronan were SO welcoming. They made us feel like we were old friends. We loved our room! It had all the charm of a true medieval dwelling, but all the comforts of a 21st century hotel room. Excellent heating system and tons of hot water in a building that dates from about 1350. Remarkable! Couple that with a great breakfast (eggs and ham!), and I can't imagine why you would stay anywhere else!

Review 8:Quite simply perfect!! Just outside of Chinon in the tranquil stunning countryside. The barn conversion is amazing, so unique. You have access to all of the grounds including multiple picnic areas, sunbathing lounges and tables and chairs. The swimming pool is a massive added bonus too. Vero and Ronan are a genuinely lovely couple who clearly enjoy what they do. The breakfast was the best we had in France with so many home cooked options. Nothing was too big an ask, including storing our wine in their cool barn to driving us at no extra cost to the restaurant we had reserved 10km! A true find, perfect location, perfect accommodation but even more genuinely amazing hosts. Thank you Vero and Ronan, we will return x

Review 9:Nil.

Review 10:Excellent barn accommodation in a fabulous setting close to Chinon. Everything works as advertised and a very pleasant place to stay. Hosts were charming and served a good breakfast in their house.

Review 11:A fantastic bed and breakfast in a 500-year old farmhouse room. The ceilings were pretty low, but the charm of the wonderful room -- not to mention the friendly host and the fine breakfast -- made this one of our favorites. We would highly recommend this place!

Review 12:We received a warm welcome from our host and immediately felt relaxed and at home. We appreciated the use of the pool and the space around the property. The situation is wonderful, close enough to Chinon but set in the most beautiful countryside. It is ideal for exploring the local area. The breakfast, taken in the main house, was superb. The hosts have gone to a lot of trouble to maintain the historic nature of the room but add modern features in the bathroom. A wonderful place to stay in a peaceful and tranquil setting.

Review 13:They don't take credit cards.

Review 14:Great B&B with fantastic hosts. We stayed for 7 nights and used as base for exploring in and around Chinon. We highly recommend.

Review 15:This property is the epitome of a stay in the French countryside. Beautiful gardens, spacious accommodation, tastefully decorated. The property is beautifully presented by its owners who are welcoming and happy to accommodate requests....our stay could not have been better.

Review 16:No complaints. It was all good.

Review 17:We were made to feel very welcome from start to finish and felt very at home in our fantastic room. The huge stone walled room made us feel we had been whisked back in time despite having a large comfortable bed, two comfy chairs and a great shower. I loved the pool and the attractive garden which had lots of seating in all areas. This a happy home and we felt privileged to be part of it - thank you x

Review 18:Wonderful hosts, great attention to detail in the room which felt homely and like a boutique hotel at the same time. Easy access to Chinon makes this an ideal stop-off if travelling through France.

Review 19:We loved the history associated with the home. We were only there for one night while en route to another destination and it served our purpose perfectly. The room was impeccably clean and the breakfast was very nice. Tres bien!

Review 20:Fantastic old farmhouse. Very well appointed. Spacious and comfortable. Most friendly and helpful host. Idyllic quiet country location. Great base for exploring the Loire Valley.

Review 21:Loved everything about this place! Our hostess was charming, the room was clean and well appointed, the bed comfortable. Felt very at home. Great breakfast. Overall this was our favorite hotel 2 weeks into a Germany/France trip. Would highly recommend!!

Review 22:Our accommodation was lovely, beautiful setting and our hosts were very, very helpful. Our breakfast was incredible. Only downside was not being able to stay longer...We would love to return one day!

Review 23:No fly screens.

Review 24:Hosts were very friendly and welcoming, with helpful suggestions for places to visit. We loved the attic room experience. Breakfast was very good.

Review 25:There was nothing I didn't like.

Review 26:This is a delightful B&B in a slice of heaven. Our room was an updated and remodeled attic room, with beautiful old beams and rock walls. I would call it shabby French country chic. The bed was perfection. Owners and hosts Veronique and Ronan are friendly and charming. Breakfast was really lovely, croissants, breads, eggs, fruit, cheese and meats, coffee, tea and juice. We were sad to only spend one night at this beautiful estate, where we just wanted to relax in the sun and soak it all in.

Review 27:Old country farm house was very charming with easy access to other areas of the Loire Valley. The owner Vero and her two children were very nice and accommodating. Rooms were very clean and breakfast was very good. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the area very much.

Review 28:A little difficult to find but worth the effort.

Review 29:The room was large and darling... stone floor, huge stone fireplace, wood ceiling beams. The bed was comfortable with nice linens. Modern heating in room and modern shower in bath. Lovely breakfast. Though located a bit out of town from Chinon, it is a short distance and easy drive. Very quiet location with parking on site.

Review 30:We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay while touring the Chateaux in this beautiful area of France. The owner Veronique was the best, always ready to accommodate.

Review 31:every thing was exceptional with nothing to dislike! Sorry we couldn't stay longer! We will next time for sure.

Review 32:Fantastic host! Unique and outstanding facility! Exceptionally good breakfast! Ronan went way beyond friendly and hospitable! Superb in every way! Highly recommended! Better than "10"!

Review 33:We wished we could have scheduled a longer stay....so much to see in the area.

Review 34:We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights near Chinon. Our host, Ronan, was extremely knowledgeable and accomodating, and the location of his B&B is outstanding. Certainly a place where you can relax, yet close to a beautiful, small French town.

Review 35:Absolutely nothing.

Review 36:Beautiful location, delicious breakfast, everything you need in a charming room. Sympathetically restored by the lovely owners. Cannot recommend highly enough, wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely return.

Review 37:There's nothing to fault. It's wonderful.

Review 38:It's wonderfully atmospheric and well-situated to cycle into Chinon. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The barn next door to our room housed our bikes. Towels fluffy. Bed comfortable. Breakfast absolutely superb. True French charm.

Review 39:We liked everything. It was a fantastic stay. The owners are very kind and helpful and the domaine is lovely and welcoming. We recommend it highly; it would be very hard indeed to find anything better.

Review 40:This accommodation comes highly recommended. The entire property is stunning and has been tastefully restored to maintain its 15th century features. Vero and Ronan are very friendly and welcoming people who have done a wonderful job at keeping the charming and rustic features of Domaine de Givré whilst still providing the modern comforts. The bed would have to be the best we've slept in outside of our own and just what you need after a day exploring the Loire Valley. The breakfast was superb and dining inside their beautiful home was lovely. We regretfully only stayed one night and will definitely return for a longer stay when we're in France next.

Review 41:Comfortable, welcoming and a beautifully restored large room in a very old stone house with colourful furnishings and art works. Lovely bathroom too and lots of fresh towels. Great breakfast with fresh fruit. Ronan gave us lots of helpful information about local sights, restaurants and wine, we will be back!

Review 42:We stayed here while on a cycling holiday through the Loire valley. Just outside of Chinon, it was a beautiful location, a great place to relax after a day's cycle. There was a problem with one of our bikes that the owner's helped us to fix. The breakfast was really delicious, the room very comfortable, a little fridge in the room with drinks and snacks which could be purchased. There is also a friendly little kitten who likes to play. There genuinely wasn't anything we could fault about Domaine de Givre.

Review 43:The accommodation was characterful, unique and charming and located in a peaceful relaxing location. The swimming pool was super! Veronique and Ronan were fabulous hosts and could not have been more helpful. Great value for money.

Review 44:The property has been elegantly restored and update to make for a very pleasant stay. We slept in the barn attic, which was quite rustic yet very nicely appointed. The owners were wonderful, kind and thoughtful of our needs. If ever back in the Loire Valley, we will visit and stay at Domaine de Givre. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

The hosts were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the area, especially the variety of vineyards to visit. The breakfast was varied and plentiful. Would certainly recommend to other travellers.

Review 82:It was a little hard to find as our Magellan GPS was not able to identify the site. Take the time to obtain specific directions before you drive there on your own.

Review 83:We really enjoyed the 15th Century accommodation & atmosphere and unique nature of this residence. It was very peaceful & quiet, the beds were soft and everything was clean and well cared for. The breakfasts were fantastic and the hosts were very friendly & helpful. It was fun to stay there for 2 nights while we explored the countryside.

Review 84:Payment only in Euros so be sure to have cash on hand

Review 85:This was our favorite place in Loire Valley! Driving through the portalgate felt as if we were traveling back through time! The stone buildingshave been lovingly and beautifully restored by the hosts - a warm andwelcoming couple! Our room, in the 15c portion of one building wascharming and comfortable with beamed sloped ceilings, plush bed linensand a modern bathroom. There are creative decorating touches everywhereone looks: flower boxes, candle lanterns, pillowed chairs, and thegarden and pool area was a calming retreat for us after days ofdriving...perfect for a glass of Chinon Rouge wine at the end of theday. The location, only minutes from Chinon provides the best of bothworlds, convenience to town and country quiet. Breakfast was ample withfruit, egg, local breads, meats and cheeses all served on Wedgewoodchina! We hope to return!

Review 86:Charming is the best word I can use to describe the rooms , grounds and gracious hosts. They have thought of everything: a mini fridge (to keep your picnic supplies cool or to grab a drink provided by the hosts), spacious (for France) bathroom with fabulous hot water , comfy bed and lots of outdoor spaces to explore or enjoy a meal al fresco. The Domaine is in an area teeming with wineries and chateaus - great for exploring. It was a high point of our recent trip.

Review 87:This is one of the best b&b we tried while visiting this part of France, would definitely recommend if you're looking for a quiet but stylish place to stay. The owners speak perfect English and they did everything to make our stay lovely. The house is not at all far from Chinon and everything was perfect for us. The breakfast was probably the best we had during our whole trip, we also loved the tasteful decor of the room!

Review 88:We liked almost everything about this farm location. Our room was a converted barn loft and was well done and very comfortable. The owners were very friendly.

Review 89:What a wonderful place to stay--a 10 in all categories! It is beautiful, the rooms are lovely and comfortable, the hosts are warm, welcoming and very helpful! The breakfast is generous and delicious. We think it's one of the best places to stay in the Loire Valley.

Review 90:All of it, living the dream in a renovated (with love) farm house.Without a doubt the best accomodation we have had through France,Belgium,Austria,Germany. Also the best breakfast and hosts by far.

Review 91:Nothing!

Review 92:Charming hosts, excellent value. Breakfast very good. Accommodation rustic but very romantic.Would happily have stayed longer and would recommend it to friends. Bed very comfortable and the shower facilities were far better than most.

Review 93:- the whole setting is just very nice - close enough to Chinon but still in the countryside - excellent breakfast - charming hosts - nice spacious room - intelligent interior decoration

Review 94:Having to leave.

Review 95:We loved our hosts Veronique and Ronan who welcomed us in to their home. The building was a converted barn, and was full of character. There are only two rooms, which are away from the main home. Breakfast is in the main home which is plentiful!

Review 96:Ronan was an exceptional host and we adored the area including frontrow seats eating pizza and drinking Rose for the Tour De France xviva la france

Review 97:Well what can we say? This is the sort of place you want to keep asecret.. Its an absolute gem!We stayed in the ground floor room and it is huge, spotlessly clean, and beautifully furnished in a contemporary style with a mixture of old and new, all of which is enhanced by attractive soft furnishings and the owner's own paintings. The en-suite bathroom is well equipped and benefits from an excellent shower equipped with a giant sized overhead rose. The setting is simply lovely, and to awaken to the sound of cuckoo's was enchanting. But all of this is really only half the story. Our hosts and their family could not have done more to make us feel welcome. From the excellent breakfasts to setting up a bar-b-que for us so that we could entertain our friends and offering to let us use the large secure barn to park our classic car overnight. In conclusion we have travelled to europe for over thirty years and know this part of the Loire Valley well, but this place is in our opinion a rare find and we shall certainly be visiting again.

Review 98:There wasn't really anything we disliked.

Review 99:Wonderful hosts in this rural farm-like setting. Two rooms are in separate building from home where gracious hosts live. Our room was updated remodel in outbuilding, which dates back to 15th century. It was pleasant, French cottage- like experience with nice bathroom for reasonable price, with excellent breakfast included. A pleasant experience that gave us feeling that we were connected with antiquity, while enjoying modern conveniences.
