Reviews for Hotel d'Orléans
Review 1:The elevator is too small.
Review 2:The staff is very friendly and helpful though she doesnt speak english but finds her way for us to communicate. I would definitely recommend it to friends.
Review 3:Too noisy outside to leave window open and no fan or aircon so a bit hot in summer.
Review 4:The room, while basic, was clean. Very close to the station and only a short walk to shops. Breakfast was extensive and staff friendly.
Review 5:A friendly, comfortable hotel with a good city centre location. They didn't mind keeping my bike in the breakfast room. Good value for the money and a nice view of the trains pulling in and out of the station.
Review 6:A bit noisy beacuse of the construction works on the street
Review 7:Good location near r/w station, 10 min walk from the city center, clean room, free wi-fi, friendly host who showed some places on the map, recommended very good restaurant and offered some Cognac Schweppes as a welcome drink
Review 8:Tiny room no air conditioning (we were there during the heat wave) noisy at night. Fresh towels were promised but never materialised. Told off for not advising we wanted breakfast the second day. Mouldy orange in fruit bowl 2 days in a row. Other items mediocre.
Review 9:Initially woman friendly. Gave us a map and explained a few things. Good wifi which didn't require constant signing in
Review 10:Poorly soundproofed, we heard people two levels down the stairs talking and shutting doors. People talking in the room next door was like they sit next to you.
Review 11:nice staff/owner, location, breakfast
Review 12:No check in until after 2 pm. TV had only channels in French or dubbed.
Review 13:Close to the station. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed and big enough room with large table.
Review 14:Bath only - there was a flexible hand-held cord only for a shower, but no splash barrier.
Review 15:Very helpful and friendly owner, close to station, but not noisy. Very clean rooms, good French breakfast.
Review 16:There was nothing to be disatisfied with.
Review 17:The management was very helpfull in making sure our stay was most comfortable and gave us information as to places to visit during our stay.there
Review 18:I have stayed at the D'Orleans 2X now and just love it! The proprietors are a lovely couple,,welcoming and gracious. The rooms are small, but furnished in good taste and very comfortable. I was being picked up at the train station to be driven to another location for a conference so the location of the hotel was perfect; I chose it for that reason, but came back for many others!!
Review 19:They made us pay more than what we had booked the rooms for (and I'm not talking about the usual tax per night that is not included in the total when booking -we were expecting that one- ). Our room was freezing cold and we were told we could not have any heating on because they do not turn it on in October. The shower didn't have hot water for the first 10 minutes of water running in the evenings. The walls are paper thin. We could hear the vibration of other people's phones in other rooms. There was a lot of banging and thumping in the hall outside our door for two consecutive nights. The wifi worked 1 time out of 3. Generally speaking I would definitely not recommend this hotel.
Review 20:It was fairly clean.
Review 21:Weather was hot, so windows were open. The road below is a main access to the city, so there was a lot of traffic noise
Review 22:Staff were friendly and helpful
Review 23:Small showers. Hotel close to the station but a good 10 min walk from town center and main restaurants area.
Review 24:Rather modern bedrooms and good wifi access. Comfortable bed. Good value for money.
Review 25:Noise from the road outside, which continued all night, my room was at the front of the hotel. Some noise during the night from inside the hotel. The hotel lift was tiny & a little scary as the light went out as the lift stopped.
Review 26:I stayed at the hotel for one night, as I was catching a train the next morning from Angouleme to Lille. The location is excellent, the room was clean & bright with a small balcony. The bed was very comfortable.
Review 27:Room just a little small, but "very French!: Nice.
Review 28:Nice staff, great location.
Review 29:Breakfast quite poor.
Review 30:Location
Review 31:no English spoken TV programs
Review 32:very close to train station
Review 33:No aircoditioning in room only a small fan that did nothing for a warm stuffy stay
Review 34:Close to train station and quiet hotel
Review 35:Quiet close to station good nights sleep
Review 36:No ventilation in the bathroom. To much humidity in the room
Review 37:Great location ****** Clean room Wifi TV
Review 38:lack of restaurant Paying a higher price than expected.
Review 39:The Loctaion
Review 40:location. parking, cleanliness
Review 41:Good location near station and old town with restaurants. Rooms small but comfortable.
Review 42:Too far out of town
Review 43:Comfortable Room
Review 44:Location across the road from the train station for our early train to Paris
Review 45:Staff and proprietor very helpful and welcoming.
Review 46:Across the street from the railway station, and 200 meters from the car rental agency. Friendly staff(owners?) and good breakfast.
Review 47:Not a thing!
Review 48:Everything plus help in finding phone numbers, locations, friends, information, so helpful!
Review 49:A bit stingy with the bread at breakfast
Review 50:Location. An easy walk to the old town.
Review 51:Needs refurbishment
Review 52:Staff very friendly & helpful
Review 53:Decor
Review 54:Central location opposite the station and car hire outlets.
Review 55:No Air Conditioning made for very hot bedrooms. Walls were very thin and stopped very little sound betwen rooms and the train station next door was very noisy. Not ideal for a good night's sleep!
Review 56:Staff were very friendly and helpful, breaskfast was good and the hotel was clean and tidy.
Review 57:n/a.
Review 58:Lionell the proprietor allowed me to park my motorcycle in a secure garage - most welcome in a city. He and his wife were friendly and the language 'barrier' made for interesting conversations!
Review 59:The look of the outside, which was deceiving. Breakfast only adequate.
Review 60:Hotel very clean, lady on reception did her best to explain thingsin English
Review 61:Location, very poor value for money, staff unfriendliness, unhelpful attitude of check-in staff, small claustrophobic room. Poor parking facilities and great sense of personal danger in the location.
Review 62:Nothing
Review 63:Having to wait till seven to check in, after a very long ride.
Review 64:Owner providing safe garage parking for my motorbike, in what I suspect is his own personal garage rather than a specific hotel facility.
Review 65:Not enough towels, water glasses or hangers. We booked for two and room had only one glass, one towel, two hangers and no soap for use at the sink. And no sink stopper, just a gaping hole. Exposed dry rot appearance outside shower, and torn wall paper above the shower. Beds a little close to the floor. Furnishings of a twenty something apartment.
Review 66:Location, breakfast, cost, hand held shower head.
Review 67:This was a miserable experience. The area was unsafe and we felt we had to unpack a fully loaded car to keep it safe. Homeless men were wandering about. When the manager chased me down the street demanding his key at 7 am I thought I was being attacked. He wanted his key even tho my friend was still asleep in the room and I just needed to start repacking the car. I am 64 years old and I was frightened.
Review 68:It was clean, but reeked of cleaning agents. The beds were comfortable.
Review 69:Lack of secure parking was a worry beforehand but was actually not a problem. Would imagine that noise could be an issue in the summer if you had to leave the window open but at this time of year it was fine. Soundproofing between rooms was not 100% effective but then, is it ever? Our room was a bit small - we could have done with a bigger bathroom and two chairs. Maybe the rooms are set up more for single business people than couples?
Review 70:The proprietors were charming - helpful and very welcoming. We arrived outside hours but they were pleased to give us access to our room anyway and still smiled, even though we had disturbed their time off on a Sunday. Bed was very comfortable, good breakfast, including great croissants, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals etc. Room was quiet - considering the hotel is opposite the railway station, remarkably so. Easy to get a taxi from the hotel up into the town for bars & restaurants. Good value for money & extremely clean. Loved the little balcony!
Review 71:I needed to be near the train station…it was perfect! The hotel is very clean & neat and the owners very friendly. I definitely would recommend Hotel d'Orleans and would stay there again!
Review 72:because the hotel located just nearby the train station, even we closed all windows of our room, the frequent noise came from trains was still clear. Fortunately, we were too tired to be affected by that,
Review 73:even the hotel owner barely speak English, he used wonderful simle and body language to help us complete the check in process and satisfied us.
Review 74:The walls and doors seemed thin, so you could hear voices and movement from the hallway. But, it is a fairly small hotel without much traffic in the hallways.
Review 75:The hotel was super-clean, had a very comfortable mattress, and wasfor me, conveniently located, a three minute walk from the train station and a two minute walk to the car rental. The desk reception also were helpful and welcoming. I was concerned about street traffic and noise, but there was not much street traffic at night and the hotel seemed well insulated with double-glaze windows.
Review 76:Nothing!
Review 77:Location to La Gare, and rental car offices. Large room with big windows/doors opening to a deck. Comfy large bed. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 78:Hotel just 10 minute walk from town where there are some fab bars and restaurants Hotel staff really friendly, accommodation spotless and comfortable. Perfect overnight or weekend base.
Review 79:No air conditioning... we were there when it was extremely warm at night.
Review 80:Very friendly staff and comfortable room. Great choice of food for breakfast and good coffee. Easy to find near the station.
Review 81:Simple, clean hotel with very helpful staff. Perfect for a one night within a short walk of the TVG station. Breakfast was good. Gentle uphill walk into the old town - which was very worthwhile - where we discovered the best food of our trip.
Review 82:Our room was on the street side and it was noisy.
Review 83:Good value for money. Very helpful staff and a clean room. It suited our needs for access to the train station as we had an early train to catch the next morning.
Review 84:Very strong airfreshener had been sprayed in the room - affected my breathing but opening the windows for several hours helped
Review 85:Very friendly, helpful, welcoming staff Well-maintained, nicely decorated room. Excellent breakfast - wide range of choices
Review 86:The couple running the hotel were helpful and friendly. The breakfasts were fine. I was glad of the hotel being convenient for the station, and relieved to find my room at the back was so quiet. Good value for money. Easy to walk up the hill into town centre.
