Reviews for Appart'City Angouleme

Review 1:The extractor in the kitchen did not work, and the carpet could do with a clean ! There was a problem with the TV.

Review 2:The appartment being anonymous and left to enjoy the city

Review 3:We did not like the carpets in the hall ways, they were very badly stained and gave a bad first impression. There was no kettle no toaster the fry pan was in poor condition. there was a hole in the wall of our room.

Review 4:We had a disabled room therefore it was a good size, although we are not disabled, It was comfortable and had most things we needed.

Review 5:Paid for wi-fi which didn't work although we got a refund, TV didn't work, no mention of secure parking being available on booking the room and this was all full booked when we arrived

Review 6:Good location, helpful staff

Review 7:-mould around seals in the bathroom/bathtub. -not enough bedding for our booking of 2 adults and 2x 4yo children or towels. - a bit expensive, but it was a festival weekend

Review 8:-reception staff- Caroline- extremely helpful, pleasant and friendly. -well equipped kitchen.

Review 9:We had requested twin beds but only had double. because we arrived late there was no staff there to assist. The hotel is a long way from anywhere good to eat, but there are plenty good places to find in town

Review 10:It is cheap. plenty of hot water in the shower.

Review 11:Had to pay 7€ extra for parking, wasn't expecting that. They also charge tax on top. So abit annoying to pay online and then have to pay more at checkout!

Review 12:Fab room, beautiful reception.

Review 13:Very difficult to gain entry as we arrived one minute after the receptionist had left. We had no code for the door. The phone number for contact that was displayed outside didn't work with our GB phones. Luckily we were let into the foyer by another guest who showed us where to find our keys. Unfortunately the pin number we had been given didn't work on the safe so we couldn't get our keys ubtil we finally found a notice in the foyer with an alternative helpline for foreign phones (why was this not outside!).

Review 14:Quite comfortable once inside

Review 15:Room v poor and not comfortable or clean. Shower as bad as it gets. Big cubicle wasted with barely a trickle of water and that was having emphased a room with good shower. Would not recommend

Review 16:Location but even that did not make stay worthwhile

Review 17:We arrived on a Sunday afternoon. There was no staff there and a phone number to ring to gain an entry code. Forntunately there was one person who spoke English on the phone who tried to explain the complicated safe system to get our door key from. Finally got in after 45 minutes to the stench of sewage. Had to phone up to change room. When we finally got into the second room several floors up (broken lift) it was a squeeky sofa bed. A very poor experience!!!!

Review 18:Nothing!

Review 19:sofa bed - no mention of this in property description, most uncomfortable hotel bed ever and extremely noisy from metal springing! Room very hot although we were offered a fan on checking in by the time we got back to hotel teh reception was shut. would recommend fan as standard.

Review 20:free parking well signposted not too far from centre of town well equipped kitchen facilities for self catering light bedding rather than duvet, ideal for hot weather

Review 21:The guest stayed next room makes a lot of noise with their friends. Also at night, in front of building there was some guys making noise and make fun of people. Digicode doesnt look safe because everyone entered even who is not staying their especially during night. And the bathroom smell because of humid. Dont want to stay there next time.

Review 22:• No parking spaces, despite being told there was. We'd been driving all day and were tired. This was not the welcome we were hoping for. • Our room was the wrong size, so we then had to return to reception and get a new key to a new room. The staff were helpful but it was still a basic error. • The hotel is poorly located. It isn't near any main attractions or restaurants, apart from one bar • The second bed was effectively a pull out camp bed, fitted with thin sheets and itchy blankets • The hotel only had cable wifi, which was useless for our iPhones and iPads. We were in the region looking for properties, and booked the hotel specifically because we would be able to access wifi that could help is do more research for the next day's travelling. We could not do this. We wouldn't have stayed there if we knew this.

Review 23:• Staff were helpful

Review 24:Some problems with the wifi, we only got it downstairs and there is no coffee in the rooms, because it is self catering...but still it would be nice to have minimum.

Review 25:Comfy bed and clean room. Friendly and helpful service from the concierge.

Review 26:No staff as it was on the weekend. The bed was a folded lounge so it was uncomfortable, squeaky. The bed sheet was ok but the bed covers/blanket was uncleaned with marks all over them

Review 27:Location

Review 28:key not in the safe after hours customer centre unhelpful and aggressive. Took 3 calls and a big fight to get the room type we booked, the room was always available but they chose not to give us the key until a big unnecessary argument. Local staff very nice the next day but had no authority to do anything about the issue. Such a sloppy system (someone else took our key in error and we could have taken someone else's key) and appalling customer service would rule out a return or use of the apart city group again. Would recommend you check in only during reception hours

Review 29:Local staff

Review 30:Our 'deluxe' room was small and basic. Just adequate for a brief stopover place to break up a long journey but not somewhere I'd choose to stay.

Review 31:Quiet as we had a room at back. Beautiful reception but rooms were characterless and small. Staff are friendly.

Review 32:Reception shut at 5.30pm, We had to ring the head office to recieve codes which we assumed where for the room door, No code on room door because the code was to open a safe where our key was stored. They didn't inform us that the key was stored in a safe. The safe was stuck in a corner and we only found it by chance. The envelope in the safe containing the key had a room number written on it but it looked like it was written by a small child because we tried 6 rooms before we found the correct one

Review 33:nothing, this could be due to arriving at midnight and having no one there who spoke English so we struggled to get in our room for about a hour

Review 34:First night VERY NOISY until 3am due to some sort of Student Party nearby. A few things required attention in our room. Broken shower head. Cooker light not working.Broken coffee jug. Fridge leaking all the time.Wardrobe door jammed. Lift not working for 24hrs. Our 3rd stay at Appart Citie & it seems the rooms are in need of a house keeping & maintenance check !

Review 35:Beautiful entrance & ambiance in main Hotel area. Calm & Tranquil atmosphere on arrival Good location for attending Circuits Des Remparts

Review 36:staff very basic in giving info,,,no-one told us how to gain entry after reception closed, luckily other guests helped out. No cups/mugs in the kitchen! only tiny coffee ones!, we ended up drinking our morning cuppa in small soup bowls!! broken shower fittings,,,, felt breakfast was overpriced.

Review 37:Location as we were there for circuit de remparts, only short walk up a very steep hill but worth it for the view...better coming down after a few! we booked a superior double and the bed was very comfortable. basic accommodation not sure I return.

Review 38:Parking was a bit tight but we managed to get a place

Review 39:We had one of their mini apartments with a kitchenette so very spacious. All facilities were excellent Interesting in what appears to be a student hostel but did not detract from quality of our accomodation. Did not bother us that it was unmanned from 8 at night till 8 next morning but might others - they give you a code if arriving late but no help with that.

Review 40:The building is oppressively prison-like I am afraid: starkly furnished and tired fittings with stained carpet.

Review 41:Not a great deal I fear: maybe just as a pied a terre - adequate: but stained mattress noticed in the light. Location if you need the station great, but for Angouleme central or as a base to tour - no

Review 42:The steep, long hill to reach the old part of the city. There is not any mention of this on the website. If you want a balanced opinion it is best to say something about the negatives when also praising the positives!

Review 43:Cleanliness and the facilities in the apartment.

Review 44:I book a double studio room I expect a bed!!! I do not expect to spend 3 nights on a sagging, squeaky sofa bed. Terrible sleep. No clean towels for whole stay and tiny. Fridge had flooded all over kitchen floor when arrived.

Review 45:Nice entrance hall

Review 46:Being contacted by email, only four hours before our arrival, by Appart'City Angouleme saying they had no record of our booking (made six months earlier and reconfirmed by them only two days before our arrival). This caused severe distress to our party. They found us rooms when we protested (not properly cleaned and smelling of recent cigarette smoke) and made us feel very unwelcome.

Review 47:I couldn't understand why the bed in the bedroom was a sofa bed , it wasn't as comfortable as a proper double bed and made a loud twanging noise with any movement made interrupting sleep. Worst though was the broken shower and the staffs lack of interest in fixing it during our 3 night stay.

Review 48:Overall appearance and standard of fitments / furniture, kitchenette.

Review 49:Neighbours can be noisy especially at weekends. Wi-fi password seems to change daily.

Review 50:Everything works, most of the time. Accommodation is clean and comfortable.

Review 51:Could do so much more with space at Apart'City - eg. central courtyard. Cleanliness in bathroom a little shabby.

Review 52:Good space in apartments. Reasonable comfort. Not too far from Centre Ville by foot / taxi.

Review 53:The kitchen was poorly equipped, little crockery, just wine glasses. No cups... Parking was promised but there were greatly fewer parking spaces than apartments.

Review 54:Quite spacious. Plenty of towels.

Review 55:Parking! Not nearly enough space for the number of cars there for the Circuit des Ramparts weekend. Need to have designated parking space which can be reserved and paid for in advance. It was a nightmare! Breakfast was ok but understaffed.

Review 56:Location was good but a long steep hill to climb to the old town.

Review 57:The only thing we could complain about was our lack of knowledge regarding this place and that we could only stay one night due to a tight schedule.

Review 58:Friendliness of the owner and the great location with regards to the square. The view from the kitchen at the roof top was a real bonus as was the use of kitchen facalities. Very relaxing in the evening or at breakfast.

Review 59:Shower in bathroom was typically French worked but it wouldn't stay on its mount

Review 60:Easy to find comfortable bed didn't mind the walk up the hill to the centre of town as it faves us a chance to see Angouleme.

Review 61:Staff could have been more friendly and 3 different people in 4 days. Corridors were dirty and not cleaned every day Equipment in the room not comfortable and badly arranged Bathroom not cleaned (have found some hair/hairs from previous customers all over the shower walls). Sorry for the details, but it is to be tangible and factual

Review 62:Location Common areas at the reception good

Review 63:The bed was not very comfortable as it was a convertable bed and in the wrong position for the television.

Review 64:Excellent value and good location, would stay again.

Review 65:trying to find the second floor lift to the 5th floor, the reception lift only goes to the 4th floor, so you have to find another lift on the second floor. quite confusing and no signposts

Review 66:quiet, relaxing building

Review 67:View from the window and location

Review 68:None

Review 69:No fuss, helpful and cheerfull staff

Review 70:Communal areas were dirty and smelly, mostly carpets, also the carpet in our room was very stained

Review 71:Location useful to have a kitchenette

Review 72:No WiFi in room. Wine glasses in room cracked showing a lack of attention in cleaning rooms

Review 73:Helpful front desk was only saving grace

Review 74:Not very easy to find from the direction we arrivex

Review 75:Size of room fridge and comfy bed

Review 76:No staff available due to Easter holidays. Fire alarms went off a few times and no guidance given!

Review 77:Cleanliness. Value for money Car park

Review 78:No problems

Review 79:The room.

Review 80:Reception closes door shuts at strange times, must remember 5 digit no to get in. Long walk to room

Review 81:Free parking

Review 82:For self catering you would hope to find a kettle but no way had to boil water in a pan.

Review 83:Lovely building nice and warm and clean.

Review 84:Not the equipement in the kitchen that should have been, also a doub le room booked and got two singles

Review 85:location ,night life and city lights

Review 86:The bed was very uncomfortable

Review 87:The walk up the steep hill into town. That's my only complaint.

Review 88:No english news channels. Having to pay for wifi. Beds were rather basic.

Review 89:Location and free car parking

Review 90:limited parking facilities and the spider nests on the outside of the windows by the lift waiting areas

Review 91:location to Angouleme centre

Review 92:Excess noise at night disturbing sleep.

Review 93:Logging in to wi-fi every day

Review 94:Noisy refrigerator.

Review 95:Bed was uncomfortable and breakfast was overpricedb

Review 96:Nothing comes to mind

Review 97:Good kitchen Parking nearby Near city centre 10mins walk

Review 98:Great place to stay overnight in the middle of a road trip. Enough room for us with two adults and two kids. Clean and modern bathroom. Good price.

Review 99:The rooms that face the roads have no ac - and in case you open the window, the noise is extrem and there is traffic all night long.

Review 100:No air conditioning - extremely hot in main bedroom Room very noisy with window open

Review 101:Location near to city centre Beautiful old building

Review 102:Kitchen facilities didn't all work

Review 103:Ease of parking and access to riverside

Review 104:Smell in bathroom and toilet seat broken. Sofa bed had large dip in middle, very bad for back. Parking on street. Not private parking.

Review 105:Large rooms.

Review 106:LACK OF SLEEP IF YOU LIKE PEACE & QUIET - YOU WILL REGRET STAYING!

Review 107:COST

Review 108:Not situated in nicest part of town.

Review 109:Good value, clean and the staff were helpful.

Review 110:bit noisy - close to traffic.

Review 111:close to museums and old city.

Review 112:no air con meant you left the windows open and there was a lot of background noise

Review 113:The bed was a bed-settee which could have been better !! (But as the apptmnts are let longterm as well, it allows the place to be a living- as well as a bed-room!)

Review 114:The apartment was good for an overnight stay on the way to Royan. The place was clean and the reception was very helpful. The lady spoke pretty good English, but the isn't an issue for us!! There is one restaurant on the river ("River102"), walkable, but the town centre is a couple of minute drive away.

Review 115:We paid for wifi but it only lasted for a couple of hours and then nothing. To be fair we were offered our money back next morning.

Review 116:Nice building very nice decor. Good quality bedding. They allowed our 2 dogs to bw with us.

Review 117:The room smelt of stale smoke and the carpet had lots of dirty stains on it. There was a lot of noise from the room above and road noise.

Review 118:The apartment was a good size and beds comfortable. 10 minute walk to restaurants.

Review 119:a building that is a bit remote from the city center...

Review 120:a quiet hotel (no noise in the morning!); excellent matresses! close to the river Charentes and many museums! you can cook in the kitchen.

Review 121:Parking barely enough at busy week-end Needs more staff Not enough tea towels or liquid for dish washer

Review 122:The situation is good for town and driving into countryside The apartments are modern and well equipped with excellent small cooking area Man sized shower and modern bathroom

Review 123:My bed was a fold out sofa. Rooms are not maintained daily or evenonce during my 6 night stay. No restruant on the property or withinwalking distance. Breakfast consisted of dry cerial, bread and somesandwich meat. 9.50 euros! Location is a very run down area, lookslike a war zone.

Review 124:Common areas were nice.

Review 125:impossible to find, and with very limited parking.in a busy city this establishment might suit young people on a tight budget, not pensioners wanting to relax after a long journey. It is soleless and plastic!

Review 126:Nothing

Review 127:The appartment we were in was dark and dingy. The furniture was dated and the bed was awful. There was a strong smell of sewage in the bathroom. Not a pleasant stay.

Review 128:Beautiful building, nice lobby, inexpensive accomodation.

Review 129:There are no staff on duty on Sunday. As we booked the night before, we had not been allocated a room and it took quite some time to sort out on the phone.

Review 130:It is in a central location. The appartment was clean and well equipped.

Review 131:The reception area had a very unpleasant smell, it would have been so much nicer if the doors had been left open to allow a flow of fresh air. We arrived late and our key was left for us but no room number on the envelope, a bit annoying as we had to track down someone to tell us.

Review 132:The room was nice and clean with nice fesh bed linen and towels

Review 133:Couldn't extend checkout past 11:00am. Complex to access internet or even check in if outside reception opening hours (only to 20:00)

Review 134:Large room and fee internet in restored monastry

Review 135:The not so friendly welcome.

Review 136:The Angouleme is a clean and functional hotel best suited to simple stop overs. The town is a short (although steep) walk from the hotel where you'll find all the bars and restaurants you could need. The rooms are clean and modern. Breakfast is a no nonsense help yourself affair so that you can quickly be on your way.

Review 137:No fire alarm noted, can do with another dining chair. Wireless internet will be better than cable

Review 138:adequate apartment for over night stay for 2 people, clean and adequate equipments
