Reviews for Belle Epoque
Review 1:Lovely little hotel with nice breakfast and friendly staff. Conveniently located outside the train station and short walk into town. Place in the gated yard to secure bicycles.
Review 2:Mattress was too hard. Some peope like it, I don't.
Review 3:The location was perfect for the purpose of my trip. But then, Chinon is a small place and you can walk into the more central part of town in about 15 minutes. Just a stroll away from the lovely Vienne river. The owners were very kind, warm and welcoming. They understood my needs perfectly. The room was simple but very clean and had more amenities than you would have thought in a modest hotel. A very decent breakfast.
Review 4:Chinon was a pleasant town to have a stop and check out some of the chateaux and the Royal Abby at Fontevraud. Some lovely places to eat and interesting old houses. Belle Époque was a comfortable hotel and an easy stroll to the centre of town.
Review 5:Maybe improve breakfast, fresh fruit. No complaints though and would happily stay again.
Review 6:Secure motorcycle parking, nice walk to Chinon centre, comfy bed. Very welcoming.
Review 7:The shower was broken and fell off the wall when turned on nearly hitting me on the head! The bathroom needs a refurb. Breakfast was expensive for what you got
Review 8:Location Owners recommended some good restaurants
Review 9:Aunque no está lejos, para lo pequeňo que es el pueblo sí está un poco apartado. Although it is not far away from the city center, you have to walk five-ten minutes to get there. It is not too much bit it is ten minutes what it will take you to cross the whole town.
Review 10:Tiene parking, el edificio es bonito y las habitaciones espaciosas. Lo recomiendo, no tiene pegas. It has parking, the building is quite pretty and the rooms are big. I strongly recomend it if you are looking for a place to stay in chinon.
Review 11:Staff were extremely friendly and welcomed me as I was getting off my bicycle. They had a space for me to store my bike as well. The breakfast was extremely filling and they even gave me a discount. Room was cosy and comfortable.
Review 12:Nothing was too much trouble for Maurice if we had any little problems he would assist us straight away to fix things. The hotel is close to train station so easy access but very little noise. We had a lovely spacious suite of rooms.
Review 13:Two single beds pushed together and sold as a double. The over priced meagre breakfast. Poor Wi-Fi signal. The climb to the top floor.
Review 14:The room was spacious and clean.
Review 15:Rooms, quite small. If your infirm the walk into town could be a problem.
Review 16:Clean, friendly, peaceful. Nice walk into town along river. Very French. Bon.
Review 17:Restaurant closed which was annoying after 300kms cycling that day! I had asked about the restaurant and food after making my booking and wasn't told it would be closed. Good bistro only 10 mins walking from hotel.
Review 18:Nearly everything
Review 19:No dinner at hotel so remember to eat breakfast or lunch there if you want to try their food.
Review 20:The hotel was lovely with a great location across from the rail station in Chinon. Short 15 min walk into town. Carrefort grocery store in main square. Fantastic Boulangerie and Charcuterie. Thursday market was amazing. Tourist info very helpful. Don't miss Abbaye de Fontavraud - about 20 minutes away - 1 hour by bike or 40 Euros each way. Largest abbey in Europe - effigies of Elinor of Aquitaine, Henry II, and Richard the Lion Hearted. Would highly recommend.
Review 21:A good little stop over five minutes walk from the charming town centre. Has a room for five which provides excellent value for a family with young kids. Own hotel car park which proved handy for the dog who slept in the car. Overall recommended.
Review 22:Narrow spiral staircase to rooms. WiFi was very poor. En-suite bathroom but shared toilet - but to be fair, I knew that when I booked it
Review 23:Small hotel attached to a tabac with its own secure parking.Within easy walking distance of the town centre. Very friendly, English-speaking owners. Good breakfast. Excellent value for money.
Review 24:The boss stayed up til 1.00 am to let us in to his hotel because of Eurotunnels mess-up. Nice little hotel, shame we couldn't stay longer. Thanks again.
Review 25:A bit of a walk to centro
Review 26:The owner was fantastic and helpful even though he only spoke French. He gave us an extra room without charging as two males travelling together. Always cheerful and friendly
Review 27:Over-priced breakfast. Nearly €10 for very ordinary fare
Review 28:Safe off-road parking.
Review 29:Was travelling on a budget, but would have liked private toilet
Review 30:free parking, clean rooms, wi-fi ok.
Review 31:Sunny, bright room with view to the rail station. Quiet. Staff very hospitable. Nice breakfast too.
Review 32:Very accommodating and friendly owner. Good location a short walk away from the town centre and a range of restaurants. Free secure parking.
Review 33:Fantastic value for money, safe parking. Staff helpfully, friendly and accomadating
Review 34:no issues
Review 35:very friendly staff clean and tidy
Review 36:Very little breakfast. Thin walls.
Review 37:Hotel located near the trainstation. Friendly staff. Good price.
Review 38:Lady coughing in the next room kept me awake, not the hotels fault.
Review 39:Welcome, comfort, breakfast.
Review 40:More traffic noise outside the window.
Review 41:Breakfast was excellent. Good room, very nice owners.
Review 42:French TV
Review 43:All facilities for budget money.
Review 44:We can listen other rooms noisy!
Review 45:Friendly staff! Big flat TV
Review 46:Strange sensor light in the bathroom - but you can turn another light on instead.
Review 47:Friendly welcome, even for an 8pm arrival. Clean room. Terrace for guests. Close to the centre of Chinon with lots of restaurants only a ten minute walk away.
Review 48:Good location walking distance to centre of town and great food maket one morning we were there was very close. Friendly host and staff, great value for money, very clean, safe parking. 30 mins drive from Tours and easy driving to many chateaux.
Review 49:A little out of the main historic centre (although close to the rail station) but safe, clean and good value for money. Staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 50:This is a very nice hotel, cozy room, friendly staff. We would definitely stay there again! They gave us a room with bathroom even though we had ordered and paid for "shared bathroom".
Review 51:The bar seemed to close very early!
Review 52:The building itself was beautiful and well set up for bed and breakfast. The gentleman that ran it was very personable and made us feel very welcome.
Review 53:15mins walk from the center (restaurants, bars etc.)
Review 54:many complain about the disco lamp in the shower, but there is actually another lamp above the washbasin that you can turn on free parking
Review 55:A bit hot on second floor in August, but to be expected really.
Review 56:Typical little French hotel with bar at front, opposite railway station. Very pretty and comfortable. Close to centre of Chinon and easy walking distance to nice restaurants. Off road parking a bonus
Review 57:Good to have shower in room but toilet was in its own room in the hallway.
Review 58:Right next to train station, about 15 mins walk to town. Safe parking for bicycles.
Review 59:Nothing I did not like. But, it was not as easy to find. The plan needs to be more precise as the hotel is on the edge of Chinon and you do not really get that from the plan provided when booking.
Review 60:I liked the decor in the hotel bar, hand painted historical presentations, really liked the breakfast room and the quality of the breakfast. The staff were great. Good parking.
Review 61:Almost nothing. This is great value for money.
Review 62:Despite my speaking no French and the staff no English, we managed well. The rooms are small but spotless. The ensuite the same. The toilet down the hall not overcrowded and also spotless. The location across from the railway station made it easy, but slightly inconvenient to town, about a 10-minute walk away. I loved my stay. Deborah from New Zealand
Review 63:We stayed in the quintuple room and we only stayed for one night but I think it would be difficult, for many nights, using only one bathroom and toilet.
Review 64:Un bon accueil Very accommodating as we were late arriving and the host, waited till very late in the evening for us, which we appreciated. He also made us a lovely cup of tea, after our 5hour journey, which was above and beyond his duties Bravo Very helpful and pleasant people Lovely and clean and facilities as described on the web. Parking facilities
Review 65:Although the location was great--literally 10 seconds from the train station--this also means it was a good 10-15 minute (scenic) walk along the river west to the Château de Chinon, restaurants, etc. Also, the automatic sensor light in my bathroom shut off every 30 seconds, so I had to wave my hands above my head frequently to avoid showering in the dark. Saving energy is a good thing, but the sensor was just timed poorly.
Review 66:The location--it was literally right in front of the train station which was VERY convenient when I arrived and when I left town. Impossible not to find! :) The owner was really kind and patient with my broken French and clearly explained all the door lock codes to me. He runs the bar/café/tobacco shop next door. The hotel itself was just really quaint and pretty: a renovated house with your typical French slate mansard roofs. The stairwell smelled old but in a very good, Grandma's house way. I would stay here again--most affordable place in town, too!
Review 67:nothing really
Review 68:very friendly staff, short stroll into town along the river. Secure parking for bike. Rooms were very nice
Review 69:Great place, super cute and very close to town. The host was very friendly also.
Review 70:female staff member who met us was quite rude when we did not understand her - limited French speaking ability on our part
Review 71:Nice staff, very helpful.
Review 72:Essenziale e funzionale.
Review 73:the host is very kind ,it's free to go in and out ,you can keep the door keys both your room and the door,
Review 74:They took my Visa again, and rang through machine. Did I end up paying twice? Please refund if I did! Please advise.
Review 75:Attentive and helpful staff Good location, very close to train station and main centre
Review 76:Very small room,shared toilet
Review 77:Café/bar on site
Review 78:stairs to 2nd. floor a bit of a struggle with cases.
Review 79:Very friendly owner/manager homely feel, good wifi, good value for money
Review 80:Nice little hotel with very nice staff. Good breakfast. Castle is also worth a visit.
Review 81:About 1+km from most restaurants, etc.
Review 82:Good value, friendly staff.
Review 83:A little bit out of the centre of the small town
Review 84:Location to railway station
