Reviews for Hotel GreenStar

Review 1:Could hear conversations clearly from next room trough bathroom. Sounds from hallway were loud. Made request of quiet room and from same floor as smoking area, didn´t get either, next day while waiting on register i heard staff talking on phone with customer and they asked the same thing since staff answer was "if you are smoker, we can give you room from bottom floor, its close to exit to smoking area". So at least trough phone it works. Also anyone without room key could get acces all the way trough reception to staircase up to room levels, since doors were unlocked/lock was broken.

Review 2:Location was great and warm parking hall for winter travelling with car. Rooms were good size and i like the hotels idea of saving resources.

Review 3:There is a strong smell of drains and sewage in the room and stairwell. The breakfast was the mast uninspired we have experienced. Nothing warm except porridge or hardboiled egg. Bread cheese and ham to choose from... not even bananas!

Review 4:good location

Review 5:Given self check-in etc it was a bit problematic as I wanted to pay cash (use up Euros and not pay i'nat'l credit card fees)

Review 6:Great hotel and location. Simple yet very comfortable

Review 7:Bathroom is big, but has no any surface to put your stuff on (some counter or little bathroom table would be really nice to have) Room keys were really a problem. It is this kind of card keys, and we used it in many other hotels. But to open our room with them was a bit of a challenge (one has to play with a speed of removing a key from the lock, by 10-15th time you are getting it right). Moreover, our key stop working on the second day. Something to do with the fact we kept it near our mobile (never was a problem in other hotels) according to stuff. In the end we got a new key, but the whole process of first us figuring out our key got broken and then going down calling to hotel help number took us like 30 min in the late evening. With a little baby who wanted to sleep was not really a fun!

Review 8:It is nice you can check-in via terminal at any point of the day. Rooms are quite big, clean and cozy

Review 9:Very basic room, not much decoration. Breakfast also very basic even though you have to pay extra for it. The boiled eggs were very dry.

Review 10:Good location between town centre and university. Good choice when travelling on a budget. Quiet, clean, comfortable beds, good night sleep.

Review 11:I did not get to watch about three of my favorite channels. (CNN,MTV and sports channels)

Review 12:The bathroom was neat. The staff were friendly and willing to help.

Review 13:- Rooms are too small for 3 ppl.

Review 14:- Good underground parking for 8 EUR/24h. - Free open-parking behind hotel. - Rooms are clean and simple. - Staff are very helpfull and russian speaking. - Nice landscapes are nearby - river, parks, bridges. - Citycenter with shops (wear, food etc), restaurants, bars is near too. - Free WiFi - Price does not depend from quantity of guests.

Review 15:Wifi password and username was not provided in the room, but had to be asked from the desk. A minor complaint, but something I'd like to note regardless.

Review 16:Cheap added parking in an underground lot and helpful staff members made my experience quite enjoyable.

Review 17:Sound insulation in rooms can be better. Software at auto check-in machine a little slow.

Review 18:Location. Check-in after working hours. Free Wi-Fi. Clean room.

Review 19:Singl "bad experience" is that I didnt get the WiFi code since I checked in late (via machine), and the code is only given by staff

Review 20:Location was great, evereything was really clean and I was extremely satisfired with my stay there

Review 21:Was not possible to check in with auto-machine, it gave one option to pay for the hotel when you enter the confirmation number. while the payment stage it didn't accept the bank card and got stucked. So how to let machine work just for check-in???

Review 22:very comfy bed and quite place, I had a window into yard.

Review 23:Our bad experience was the internet. This was very weak, unstable in the part of the hotel we were. However, every evening we went to the lobby, where there was an excellent connection.

Review 24:The location of the hotel is excellent: right in the City centre. Moreover, the hotel provided good value for money.

Review 25:All right!

Review 26:Cute and friendly staff, attentive and friendly and very helpful! Thanks for the quiet and convenient travel place. Has everything you need for a comfortable stay on the road.

Review 27:There was a quite long power cut. After that two days were necessary to reestablish the WiFi service. In that period the TV channels were also only partially available.

Review 28:Friendly staff.

Review 29:- From the booking.com received pin-code does not match with hotel pin-code, so when reception are closed then problems with check-in machine. - Breakfast not very a diverse.

Review 30:- Very nice and clean hotel and also rooms

Review 31:Functionalities good but reduced to minimum required. Slightly better than what I have had at IBIS hotels. Late check in (after 8pm) on automated counter worked flawless.

Review 32:No big negative issues. Breakfast was just average though we cannot tell that we were left hungry after breakfast ( home made bread would have been a plus though the bread on offer was fresh)

Review 33:central location but still calm. Wifi worked very well, rooms were very clean, we liked this hotel. Breakfast was decent, coffee, fresh white bread, porridge, tomatos, cheese, in brief we recommend this hotel to everyone

Review 34:Nothing

Review 35:Location in a city center Clean and comfort rooms Habitual room layout with bathroom Underground parking Good breakfast Everything is automated, you can speak no word with personnel all your staying

Review 36:Breakfast quite poor for 7 euros. I'd rather spending 3 euros moreand have a good buffet than choosing between a few slices of ham andsome jam. In the weekends, you could hear some noise coming from theclubs down the road according to the room you are occupying; some havethe the windows right in front of the bars

Review 37:Good parking garage; very clean;

Review 38:Please consider discount program for long stayers.

Review 39:What makes us choose this hotel is the best location. the heart of the city. Plus very friendly and smart reception girls, We will come back next year too

Review 40:Great hotel, great spot. Very close to Kings Cross & tube. Nice, modern and clean, though small rooms. Staff was also very helpful and friendly. I will recommend this hotel to all my friends visiting London!

Review 41:Smell in toilet, low temperature in the room ( January)

Review 42:Location, bed and matras, par king free of charge

Review 43:Breakfast is not included

Review 44:Clean hotel with comfortable small rooms.

Review 45:strange choice of TV channels

Review 46:clean rooms, good value for money

Review 47:Touch screen on check-in kiosk is not working properly.

Review 48:Excellent location and friendly staff.

Review 49:Very good location. The hotel is really clean and fresh. Everything is studied for your comfort.

Review 50:Clean cheap good location

Review 51:Close to local pubs, restaurants playing loud music till 11pm

Review 52:Close to pubs, restaurants etc.

Review 53:No air-conditioning so room was quite hot. Breakfast quite simple, not a lot of choice.

Review 54:Great location in city centre. Value for money.

Review 55:No toaster in the breakfast.

Review 56:Location near the market square, nice rooms.

Review 57:Everything was ok

Review 58:Breakfast was limited, and you had to pay extra for it.

Review 59:Relatively inexpensive for Finnish hotel.

Review 60:Simple layout of the Rooms and bathroom

Review 61:The automated check-in terminal was very useful for me, because I arrived at late night.

Review 62:Location and cleanliness

Review 63:The hotel was easy to find and very handy to everything in town.

Review 64:The machine to make the automatic check-in is a bit clumsy...

Review 65:Nice and peaceful place

Review 66:very noisy ( at night and morning too)

Review 67:Heavy doors

Review 68:Location Microwave in lobby Pleasant, helpful staff

Review 69:Only russian TV channels in Finnland????

Review 70:central location, extremely friendly staff, fast reliable wifi in the rooms. best 3star hotel in Joensuu.

Review 71:Curtains were too thin. Finnish summer is bright all night, and it was difficult to sleep. Which is a shame, as the beds were comfortable.

Review 72:The automatic check-in machine does not work with the booking.com reservation number! Be aware that you need to contact the hotel and get their own reservation number before your arrival if your arrival is out of the reception opening hour.

Review 73:The location, cleanliness, the price and the size of the room.

Review 74:The automated check-in at the lobby responded poorly to touch, had to key in the reservation code endless times before the machine responded/issued the keycard! This was not only irritating, but downright distressing, because it happened just minutes before the ice-hockey world championship game where Finland played against Russia!

Review 75:Excellent location, friendly service, clean rooms, good basic breakfast.

Review 76:Excellent location, friendly service at the reception, good basic breakfast.

Review 77:Walls like paper, when someone in next room went to shower, I thought my bathroom was floating, rooms are too hot, is it global warming or what this green hotel means?) Decor is not finished...very plain, how about breakfast room, like a canteen in college, breakfast is very plain. (bad coffee, no brown bread) An idea of green hotel is great but all is not accomplished. Place has no character. No bio waste disposal in breakfast room ! This is very basic thing in Finland. I would not pay more than 50 e.

Review 78:Clean, simple, location

Review 79:Everything OK, I don't find anything wrong

Review 80:Easy to find. Close to the city center. Fast WiFi. Free underground parking. Good breakfast. Perfect sleeping quality. We stopped in this hotel for a 1-night layover on a long route, and I truly can't imagine anything better for these needs.

Review 81:- the constantly noisy fan (or what is was - they told me that you can not turn it off, so hat had some difficulties to sleep well..)

Review 82:staff, eco-ideas etc.

Review 83:Although there was a kettle there were no mugs, tea, coffee or milk. Room was too hot - had to keep window open.

Review 84:Size of the room and bathroom. Cleanliness. Cost.

Review 85:Breakfest is quite poor, will not book it next time. Cafe at almost any petrol station is better from value for money point of vew.

Review 86:Ideal location for one-night stop when travelling to\from\via Finland from\to Russia. Automated check-in system allowed to come any hour when reception is closed. Car Park in the basement.

Review 87:The bed pillows were too small for my liking. There was no sauna facility :) I did not try the breakfast buffet because I was told by co-workers it was not that good.

Review 88:The bed was comfortable. The setup of the room was nice. Heating was working very well. It is very conveniently located.

Review 89:Room cold. Televisions in breakfast room.

Review 90:Very friendly and helpful staff who immediately found me a room facing the river when I was first was given a room facing the street.

Review 91:The room conditioner worked loudly. Not pleasant to sleep with this soud, didn't manage to turn it off

Review 92:We liked staying in this hotel. The staff is verry attentive and kind, russianspeaking:-)

Review 93:The hotel hasn't got single rooms. Even if you travel alone, you can order only a room for three: double bed and a sofa.

Review 94:Location, friendly stuff speaking Russian

Review 95:There was a kettle but no tea bags. There was no phone to call reception.

Review 96:The location was good, being walking distance to the shops. The room was clean though it was very basic. The shower was really powerful!

Review 97:Very basic room, stated it had tea/coffee facilities but that was just a kettle and no supplies. Bathroom was all plastic and very basic although it was clean.

Review 98:It was in the centre of Joensuu so it was ideal for people wanting to stay in the town for shopping or to catch public transport to go out for days.

Review 99:Would have liked small supply of tea, coffee, milk and cups to make a hot drink ,(kettle, fridge and glasses provided). Bit too warm in bedroom and unable to turn heating down.

Review 100:Reasonably priced, good location.

Review 101:Reception hours might be not extremely convenient as they close at 8 p.m., but automatic check-in is also possible, although I had no experience with this one.

Review 102:Rooms were large and comfortable, free Wi-Fi connection being a great extra facility, necessary for a business trip. Rooms were also equipped with a kettle and a set of glasses, so one is sure to be able to get a cup of tea/coffee even late at night.

Review 103:Very warm room. It took me a couple of days to work out how to regulate the temperature, so it might be a good idea to let guests know or to put up some kind of sign on the wall. The idea of checking in without a reception and no telephone number after office hours can be daunting. It would be a good idea if you had someone on the telephone on standby if there are any problems.

Review 104:Very clean. New fittings and fixtures - everything was brand new. Excellent location in the centre of town. Warm rooms - well heated. Wholesome and healthy breakfast. Quiet Street. Clean sheets and towels - the level of hygiene and cleanliness was impressive.

Review 105:Poor sound isolation between rooms.

Review 106:Good location, garage parking with direct access to reception and walking distance to all restaurants in the heart of the town. Very budget friendly.

Review 107:Air conditioner can not be switched off and blows right into thesleeping place with "fresh" cold air through the whole night,it is not very pleasant in winter time. Room (we booked a family room)was very tiny and uncomfortable. In my booking I asked for double bedinstead of this I had two separate narrow beds and broken convertiblearmchair for child. The space of the triple room only allows to putthese beds and than remains just a narrow passage to beds. There arehints of extreme economy through the whole hotel starting from thereception desk and till the room itself. Our room was not clean enough.Due to non-stop working conditioner/ventilation is quite cold in theroom. And the last one - breakfast is extremely poor. I have never seenbefore such a poor breakfast even in low rated hotels. This hotel muchmore reminds a student's hostel.

Review 108:Russian speaking girls at the reception desk were quite friendly. Thereis heated indoor car parking for extra charge.

Review 109:I haven;t quite understood what is so green about this hotel: there isno information availabl when you stay there.

Review 110:A fine, clean hotel with friendly staff. Downtown, just in the centre ofeverything.

Review 111:Clean and moderd hotel offering exactly what business people will need =Clean and tidy room and bathroom, WiFi network, good working table andchair and right value for price. Especially "basic" kind of breakfastwith fresh bread every morning is appeciated. Some small improvementscould be madeto the breakfast as there is no cinnamon with porridge andno newspapers. Having some 5 newspapers in a breakfast room would notcost too much..

Review 112:I didn't realize when I booked it that it had no restaurant -- the web site certainly made no effort to point it out. Also, eco-friendly effectively meant "spartan." The room contained a minuscule desk and no table. Breakfast was adequate, but no more. The room offered no facial tissue, and I couldn't find any way to control the heat -- I had to resort to opening the window (in midwinter!) to cool it down. Bathroom amenities consisted only of shower gel. Decor was distinctly plain. The price was comparable to that of hotels that offer more.

Review 113:Centrally located; free wireless Internet.

Review 114:Need more variety of bread and toaster.. Website should supply more detailed info about the hotel. .

Review 115:Close to the very center of the city. Free wireless internet connection.

Review 116:That it was designed with consideration to nature. That it was budget-friendly and comfortable at the same time. Cost-cutting solutions do not compromise comfort.

Review 117:Simple, but modern, very clean, located in the center of the town, good and healthy breakfast, small fridge exists and flat screen TV, big room, nice staff, for sure the one to choose in the future too.

Review 118:It was yards from the main square, about 10 minutes walk from train & bus stations. An interesting town with plenty to see and do for a few days. Staff were very pleasant & friendly & the breakfast very good. I would have liked to see a restaurant for lunch or evening meal.

Review 119:We asked to bring an additional bed or mattress in our room, but nobody did that.

Review 120:We really liked the location in the downtown, cosiness and stillness.

Review 121:If you are looking only for a bed and confort then this hotel is ok. Butthere are no facilities such as bar or restaurant available. Onlybreakfast is available in the morning, but if you are leaving early thenyou miss this also. Staff, only one girll at the reception, with mostpart of her involved in conversation with a guy who was hanging there. For us not a hotel we will go again. Sorry.

Review 122:The room

Review 123:We had the problem with booking in evening, because chek-in automat did not work, it is good that staf solved the problem fastly.

Review 124:It is the good hotel for short time (tranzit).

Review 125:A good hotel for a competitive price. Perfect for 1-2 nights to stay forshopping or when you just have to rest before a long travelling. There'sno need to pay extra money for parking if you come hust for one night,it's free behind the hotel entrance from 18 pm till 8 am. The cityshopping center, museum, theatre and supermarket are 3 minutes walk fromthe hotel.

Review 126:Toilet paper smelled awful.i had to wash my hands twice to get ride of the smell.Probably an eco product.I recommend your own toilet paper!

Review 127:Good value for money and great location in the middle of the city
