Reviews for Hostal París
Review 1:The room reeked of smoke, and it took many days to get rid of the smell. Some of the furniture is not in good repair, e.g I had no shower screens, so there was a flood in the bathroom after every shower. It was hard to position the shower head. Charging €10 per day for parking in their garage, when you are paying about € 25 for the room is truly excessive. This price should be quoted in the write-up.
Review 2:The staff were friendly, The location suited me for walking to Gibraltar. There was a map of La Linea available when the tourist office was consistently closed.
Review 3:When we went out for food in the area we had to pass by a few unpleasant-looking bars, but otherwise fine.
Review 4:Very good location for travelling to Gibraltar at a decent price.
Review 5:Location is little bit far from city center. The 5 euros taxi to airport they offer is not truth, stuffs told me 5 euros because they have contract but actually the taxi driver used the mile caculator he final charged me 8 euros. Later I contact the hostel they said its driver's mistakes they do have the contract. But who knows?
Review 6:The stuffs are supper friendly! Beds are comfortable, facilities are good, clean and warm atmosphere! And they do offer you many useful information and with 5 euros deposit you can borrow an umbrella! Basically it's one of the best hostel I have ever stayed
Review 7:No breakfast. Accomodation is a bit outdated, needs repairment (for example, in my room the sink had long cracks on it)
Review 8:Location is good - about 10-15 min. walk from Gibraltar border and 2 min. from town center. Good price/quality ratio - especially comparing to the price in Gibraltar (in La Linea it's 2 times cheaper)
Review 9:The hostel is very very noisy especially at night.Shared bathroom and toilets are disgusting.Staff can speak less than basic English.Wifi routher got wrong and there was no internet for 3 days. There is no kitchen.
Review 10:Receptionists and the housekeeper are kind and helpful people, the hostel is near the border.
Review 11:Rooms are pretty bare, hostal is rather dark, so if you wish to spend some time in there, it might not be the best option. It's well situated within La Linea, but it's still La Linea, so rather dodgy neighbourhood.
Review 12:It's convenient for a quick visit in the surroundings. Owner is a very nice man.
Review 13:The beds were uncomfortable. The hostel is situated in a dingy side street in a dingy town. I am surpeised that spme of the success of Gibraltar has not flowed on to La linea.
Review 14:This hostel has a covered car park which I liked. It was good value for money & the staff were friendly & helpful
Review 15:No breakfast or common area, receptionist had TV on at full volume and only turned it down when I told him to at 2:15 in the morning.
Review 16:Cheap, get a private room with a TV and fan for 20 euros a night.
Review 17:La Linea streets are small and full of parked cars. But few lots to putyour car. My advice park your car on the promenade. Using map establishwhereabouts of Hostal remembering the one way system. The hostal has agarage next door but 10 euros per night. There are cheaper places topark an from one pm on Saturday to nine am Monday you can park on partof the promenade.
Review 18:If you just want a bed for the trip then it suited me. Perhaps my wifewould think differently. The hostal was in 1970's style not bychoice, so it could be looked upon by younger people as'quaint'. However, it was clean and the staff worked hard tomake it so. It was a basic reception area but adequate and the staffpolite, helpfull and smiling. Pity they did not show more'Freeview' English channels. Ie bbc World Service or Sky News.
Review 19:The room..we asked for an extra night so they had to change our room, it was awful so we asked if we could change they said they were full, and no other accommodation available in the area.the worst 2nights sleep.squeeky bed and if u banged the head board, oh my the noise.,right next door to a toilet.shower got blocked took ages to drain, cleanliness was terrible.our friends also stayed and there room was nice. I think because we asked for a 2nd night when we checked in and wasnt one free, they said they would juggle things round with another booking..personally think they gave us a store room and put a bed in it..or maybe the night porters..if there was any other hotels free I would never of stayed after viewing the room.they gave us free parking when we complained.never again !! We travel all round and this hostel I will not be staying again
Review 20:Not much really. Showers were a bit outworn and could be cleaner. Also, the area outside is a bit rough, especially on the weekends and during the nights, but nothing that would cause you any trouble.
Review 21:A decent place to stay close to the city center. Close to everywhere. Friendly staff. Good location. Clean and cosy room with own washbasin. Also good value.
Review 22:Not much to complain. Okey, my room was a bit noisy because of the busy street just outside the window but not all rooms are on that side.
Review 23:Great location, a stone throw from the Gibraltar border. The price of the hostel if fraction of the hostels in Gibraltar. And you get your own room!
Review 24:Parking €10 a day, somewhat pricey although better that parking on street. Somewhat dated but alright. Not a bad spot.
Review 25:Stayed here to hop to Gibraltar. Did not expect the world and were pleasantly surprised. Good walking distance to the Rock. Clean, cheap, good WiFi, well maintained and they were attentive.
Review 26:Like all places in central La Linea it is very noisy outside into the early hours. This is just the way it is so it is not a negative towards this hostal in any way - just worth bearing in mind if you don't like noise.
Review 27:The location is excellent being in the centre of town. About a ten minute walk to the bus station and 15 mins to the border. A one minute walk to all the bars and restaurants.
Review 28:The lack of appliances - there isnt a kitchen and the staff refused to heat up water for us. Its difficult to get there, parking on the streets is difficult too. Rooms are a bit dated.
Review 29:Hostal Paris is a good place to stay for relatively cheap in La linea when planning to go to Gibraltar or nearby coastal towns. AC worked well.
Review 30:Staff was so helpful and really nice! It was a good location if you're visiting Gibraltar, it was only a short walk to the border. Thank you Hostal Paris! :)
Review 31:There was nothing that we didn't like
Review 32:The hotel had very friendly staff had clean bedding and towels every day it's a little noisy but did expect it with staying there last year I would recommend it to family and friends
Review 33:Nothing.. Excellent place in a perfect base for seeing Gibraltar and cafes and bars on the doorstep.
Review 34:Excellent location, a few metres from lots of cafes and bars, but very quiet. 10 minutes walk from both the bus station, the Gibraltar border and 20 minutes to the airport in Gibraltar. Excellent bathroom with towels and shampoo. Air con and TV if you need them were there. Large room. Friendly welcome. Good value for money.
Review 35:rather thin walls and noisy people coming in late
Review 36:cheap place to stay, nothing fancy, convenient to gibraltar and cheaper, would recommend if going to gibraltar
Review 37:24 hour reception was very helpful, sfaff were very kind and helped us find parking. Rooms are basic but very clean. Showers are shared but clean and hot.
Review 38:The only bad thing I can say is purely regarding the room next door leaving the door a jar and the window open. The door kept banging. Nothing bad on the hotel itself.
Review 39:Overall it is a good place to stay. Angel, the owner/manager was friendly and polite. It's a ten minute walk to the bus station and about twenty to the Gibraltar border. Plenty of shops bars and restaurants nearby. My room was nice and clean. Free wifi and air conditioning which was a blessing!! I'd happily stay here again
Review 40:The street is very loud at night and parking was extremely hard. The staff didn't speak very good English, but they sure tried very hard to be helpful. We didn't get any turist information from them though.
Review 41:Clean and close to the border with Gibraltar.
Review 42:I was greeted by a happy smiling member of the family who could not do enough to help me, to get settled, it was great to be able to put my car in a covered garage, and at 8 euros a night was extremely reasonable to keep my mind at rest. All the staff were pleasant and helpfull, i had a lovely quiet night and slept well, would not hesitate to return, to this Hostal in the future..
Review 43:There's nothing to not like. This premises does exactly what it publicises about itself. It is ideal for a short stay where the visitor is using the facilities of the area rather than the premises
Review 44:Friendly,efficient/effective staff. The premise was impeccably clean throughout. Central location
Review 45:A brighter lightbulb would have been good! Mysterious control for wall heater, as buttons not labelled! Loud banging and shouting one night from other visitors.
Review 46:Unexpected en-suite lavatory + shower.
Review 47:I have stayed here many times over the past 10 years and the staff are all lovely and welcoming, I don't speak Spanish but they make a huge effort to communicate. The hotel is always clean and the beds are comfortable. I have tried other hostals in the area and they are not as good as the Paris
Review 48:shower head didn't stay in bracket when turned on no heating in 2 out of 3 rooms booked very cold weather while there had to sleep dressed in socks and jumper room so cold asked to move rooms staff didn't understand even when asked in Spanish Brocken towel rail very thin walls price to much for what we got
Review 49:Free WiFi location great tapas bar round corner staff
Review 50:No heating or air conditioning. The bathrooms are not so clear. The hostel needs renovation. There is no any common area or kitchen.
Review 51:Very friendly stuff, excellent location. There is a sink in the room.
Review 52:I had a front facing room on the first floor so I heard the bin lorries at 4 am on two mornings. Slight language barrier with the reception staff but nothing to major. Could have done with another pillow as one provided was very flat.
Review 53:Great location with close proximity to and from Gibraltar and the Airport. Clean shared bathroom served perfectly. Location to tapas restaurants and main church was superb. Receipt was given to me on arrival and room was ready at 12:00 when check-in time wasn't until 13:00.
Review 55:The really tiny room, had a musty smell, and the first thing I did was to purchase a can of air freshener. The windows were filthy, and the room was cold in the evenings. It was clean though, other than this, as were the bathrooms. The road outside looked really rough, and was dirty, however, just around the corner was a nice square. Only 5 mins walk to border with Gibraltar.
Review 56:Really friendly and helpful staff, who speak English - or certainly try really hard to! The room was quiet in the evenings, even though it was busy with Christmas celebrations outside. The hostel felt safe and secure, which is important for a solo female traveller. Always staff on reception.
Review 57:After 5 weeks being back from Gibraltar, I still can't think of anything ??? Does that helps?
Review 58:This is a perfect location as it is only 20 seconds walk from main town of La Linea. The town is beautiful and people are friendly. There is activity happening within the church in town- it's beautiful!. Ive walked into Gibraltar every day for 5 days from this hotel and it is only 20-25 mins to the main part of city of Gibraltar. Keep in mind there is a border and customs but worth it!!!
Review 59:Location, narrow street in a built up area, no place to stop outside due to the amount of parked cars. Had to drive round the block a few times while my wife went to reception to arrange for the garage door to be opened. No good if travelling alone!!
Review 60:Location to Gibraltar. Price. Mid-town parking.
Review 61:Bed squeaked! Noise travelled easily from room to room but not a reason not to book. We will be happy to go back next year
Review 62:The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, the staff friendly and the car parking was secure. 10 min easy walk to the border crossing to Gibraltar but plenty of bars in La Linear centre for evening drink and breakfast nearby
Review 63:There was no water in the morning. And from 8:00 there were people cleaning the veneer of the building with water under pressure - hitting our window. There was one power socket in the whole room (in the bathroom). The lights were broken and not working in the bathroom. And the towels were wet when we arrived. The room looked dirty and not renovated recently. There was no lift - only steep stairs. My wife is pregnant and we wanted a room on the first floor, but they gave us a room on the second floor in - it seemed - an empty hotel. Staff didn't speak English.
Review 64:Nothing really.
Review 65:no on sweet romos, bathrooms down hallway, showers didnt work, staff not friendly.we were delayed 2hours at the customs in gib, tried to chrge us 4 extra day,are still trying to take extra 60e off my credit card 4 this.they only had to put our bags in reception.
Review 66:have stayed here before, was good thhen completely changed,,wont be syaing there again.
Review 67:Bad feeling in hostel and area in general. Very basic hostel
Review 68:I was expecting a letter but it didnt arrive before i left so staff were good to email me when it arrived.
Review 69:Convenient location with plenty bars and resurantes near by. Very close to the border and local beach. Staff were very helpful and friendly. A very reasonable price. We would definitely go back to Hostal Paris.
Review 70:Very very clean, helpful staff, taxi rank steps away really close to the gib border (about 5 euros in a taxi to the border) over all much better than I expected- do be careful though in la linea!!! I just got a cab everywhere as so cheap n much safer!
Review 71:Nothing. this place represents outstanding value for money
Review 72:Friendly staff who go out of their way to be helpful and informative. Great location. Gib really accessible. Very clean. No frills but very comfortable beds
Review 73:The hotel/hostel has no elevators - if you're up top...You're in for a trip! If you'll not stay much longer than a weekor two, I suggest packing very lightly... Or you'd be awful tired bythe time you get to the second floor (I kid you not). The walls are somewhat paper-thin (if you will) and if you have noisy neighbors (read: loud) you *will* hear them... But that's only about your neighbor, not against the hotel. What can they really do? Otherwise- not much more to say!
Review 74:The location - if your first time in Spain - is pretty tricky to get to:the street is a one-way street.... That being said: so close to the"center" of town! You can find many stores along the streetcalled "Calle Real" (literally "Real Street") andbars and cafes! What a treat! The staff were very friendly (mind you, I spoke Spanish to them) and helped much! Also: To walk to the beach... the time it should take you to walk there is around 15~ or so minutes... Just FYI. Enjoy :)
Review 75:certainly on a small city street but GPS took us right to it - not a problem
Review 76:parking costs 8 euros per night but was well worth it, location was very convenient to a day trip to Gibraltar rock,to good food, and a pleasant plaza with good tapas
Review 77:Parking part of hotel but you have to pay extra. Travelled all over Spain, waked 800 kms of Camino and never had a cold shower in all the hostels an albergues. But in this hotel the hot water ran out in 2 minutes , no water pressure.
Review 78:Location and price
Review 79:nothing to dislike about the hostel Paris
Review 80:The staff were very helpful the location was perfect fantastic value for money would stay there next time will recommend to friends
Review 81:The value for money wasn't good... too expensive for the very poor facilities: tiny room with old furniture, no air conditioning, no private bathroom... for 25€ is too much.
Review 82:It was a good location, close to bars and restaurants, the bus station, and of course to Gibraltar.
Review 83:One morning the water was cold. Not a major issue really.
Review 84:Last year I stayed in Gibraltar and found hotels to be much more expensive for less quality. This hotel is very close to shops and restaurants with spacious rooms which are clean. I will return here next year.
Review 85:Was quite noisey through the night and im a heavy sleeper. The showers were awful because there was no constant hot water.
Review 86:Location was great. Price was fantastic. Reception were very helpful. Place was very very clean. Beds were made every day. Towels were changed every day. The place felt safe and all windows would lock.
Review 87:Very old fashioned & lots of old odd bits of furniture in corridors. Bathrooms & bedding was clean. Booked two rooms, both twin, one ensuite one shared bathroom (shared I shower & two toilets with a whole floor). One room had a/c & TV. The other had nothing. Noisy as on the street & window open as no air con & church bells ringing intermittently from quite early. Not a prob as were exhausted & would have slept thru anything & was cheap. Might be a problem for others.
Review 88:We went to the Gibraltar music festival, we just needed somewhere close to the venue (it was walking distance over border to stadium), that we could get our heads down for a few hours & shower in the morning. Fitted the purpose plus had underground cheap parking. Polite staff. Clean.
Review 89:Our room was pleasant, clean and tidy. All the staff are friendly. Central location for shops/bars, walking distance to Gibraltar, private parking, able to take our pet with us. We had a wonderful vacation - THANK YOU!
Review 90:The room was smelly, with the window facing the bathrooms. With no air conditioning I barely slept. Avoid this place.
Review 91:I was not sleeping on the street, so I've got that going for me!
Review 92:There was no elevator in the building and my luggage was carried up the stairs without staff assistance; however, I didn't request help. The shower stall was small, and the floor of it was slippery which might pose a problem for some. Wifi was available, but a desktop computer for guest use would have been helpful.
Review 93:I was here for four nights and found the facility very satisfactory. The room and private bathroom (which I requested) were clean and tidy; the bed was very comfortable. Fresh towels were provided daily. My room faced the rear of the building, and I was not bothered with street noise. In fact, I rarely heard other patrons. The hotel is an easy 5 minute walk from the plaza where restaurants and cafes are located and is a 15 minute walk from the Gibraltar border. The area around the hotel was well-lit at night so that, even though I was alone, I felt safe returning to the hotel in the evenings after dark.
Review 94:Very noisy, not very clean, actually the whole town has not been veryfriendly. Expensive for the facilities that has been offer. Theparking of the hotel has a tax: 8 euro/night, and this is notmentioned anywhere.
Review 95:It was the only place to sleep available, close to Gibraltar.
Review 96:one block down was a noisy disco but this quietened down around 2am.
Review 97:single travellar, didnt expect much but it was perfect for my requirements. Brilliant location, town itself surpassed more than i expected, bustling nighttime in town centre. Photos dont do it justice
Review 98:Great price for a hotel located near Gibraltar. We walked to Gibraltar the first night in about 40 minutes, then drove to it the next day. The only downside would be limited parking at this hotel, but that is to be expected I suppose.
Review 99:The bathroom could have been cleaner. Had some rust
Review 100:The staff were friendly, helpful and funny. Good level of English helped communication, easy to book and check out
Review 101:Avery centralized location with friendly staff who accomodated me very well. I would go back ther again to stay.
Review 102:Great value for budget traveler. Excellent base to explore Gibraltar and La linea.
Review 103:No complaints.
Review 104:Good for the price.
Review 105:A little creepy
Review 106:Good location.
Review 107:Had a bit of trouble finding it but its not to far from Gibraltar to walk
Review 108:Nothing
Review 109:Everything
Review 110:nothing
Review 111:very comfortable
Review 112:pleasant and helpful staff. A pleasant break during a long journey.
Review 113:parking garage which was nice.
Review 114:smelly bathroom Eur 10 per night for parking noisy
Review 115:20 minute walk to the border
Review 116:The place is very noisy at night. We have individual toilet bit it smelled.
Review 117:The staff are helpful when we ask about direction.
Review 118:Cleanliness, rooms are big enough, not far from Gibraltar border, close to the village center
Review 119:Stuff does not speak English.
Review 120:Stuff od very friendly.
Review 121:This was a great place to stay and the staff were very helpful. Thank you
Review 122:It is a suitable hostel to visit Gibraltar and there is secure car parking
Review 123:- staff is very nice - good vibrations in the hostal - close to the border and bus station - fast wifi
Review 124:It was convenient location but terrible looking location. Not unsafe. We stayed only one night so not a problem. Were able to walk to Gibraltar
Review 125:It's in a perfect location with bars and restaurants nearby the staff are very friendly
Review 126:bed very squeaky when you moved.
Review 127:Location and friendly staff
