Reviews for Hostal Margarita

Review 1:Great location for Gibraltar border (easy 10 -15 minute walk) and main street of La Línea de la Concepción (5 minute walk). Room was basic but very comfortable with views of the The Rock from my window.

Review 2:1. Cleanliness poor - textured floor-tiles ingrained with dirt. 2. Serious leak in shower area so partition wall with bedroom was crumbling, discoloured, mildewy, damp. It was obvious this was a longstanding problem left unattended by management. 3. Cold. It was 29th Oct - no heating and no blankets on the bed - we got up during the night to put on an extra blanket. Unfortunately another couple in our party found no extra blankets in the wardrobe so had to spend the night fully clothed in bed in order to keep warm.

Review 3:Location - excellent for plaza/centre - Gibraltar.

Review 4:Air conditioning is a bit lackluster. Lack of a view from the room as mine overlooked the communal area of the hotel, didn't matter as I spent very little time there as the whole point of the trip was to go see Gibraltar.

Review 5:Great location, only a short distance from the Gibraltar border, why stop in Gib when you can stop here for much less. Comfortable room if a little small.

Review 6:Rooms were basic, as expected for the price range, and the single room was quite dark and gloomy. Would advise to pay the extra for a double room if you want more natural light. Front rooms were a bit noisy in the morning as this is a busy road but this was not a problem apart from boy racers on Saturday night who favoured the area.

Review 7:Location was great - only 10 minute walk from the border and close to restaurants and shops. Staff were very good and gave some recommendations of places to eat that were excellent.

Review 8:Only four parking spots, we were lucky enough to get one and left the car there all of the time we were there.

Review 9:Good position for Restaurants and a walk over to Gibraltar which was the purpose of our visit. Nice little balcony to sit and have a glass of wine on.

Review 10:Room key worn had to giggle lock to get in room

Review 11:Friendly helpful staff, clean room & bathroom , comfy bed 24 hr reception great as we arrived early hours

Review 12:Very friendly and welcoming reception staff. Basic accommodation but good value for money. Short walk to shops, bars and restaurants plus easy to walk to Gibraltar.

Review 13:The the floor was dirty/dusty! the floor had not been cleaned, you could see the fluff/dust balls let alone mopped! not clean, i did not walk bearfoot in the room, in the bathroom on the floor near the shower was a hole? it was dirty, the AC was noisy, basic.

Review 14:The location is perfect, very near to the centre of La linea, only a few minutes walk, my brother and i had shared the room with a balcony, which was good, as i had requested when booking, the shower was clean, the staff were helpfull, the A C worked, also parking bay for the car i hired.

Review 15:As soon as we arrived Jesus , (one of the staff) made us very welcome and gave us a map of the town and marked down all the best restaurants to eat and could not do enough for us to make our stay enjoyable. The other staff were also very friendly and helpful. We stayed for a week and found the people and restaurant´s to be very friendly. The meals in the restaurant´s were very good and not expensive. We are looking forward to our next holiday their , it´s well worth a visit and only 10 minutes walk to Gibraltar.

Review 16:Unfortunately this last visit. The room allocated to us had a lot of damp patches and damp smell. For us we stayed just one night so we were OK and living in Spain we understand the issues but for other clients this could have been a problem

Review 17:We are regular visitors to this hostel. So that says it all. Good value for money

Review 18:Had difficultly with one of the door key's had to ask for assistance from reception.

Review 19:The helpfulness of reception staff. And location to bar's and restaurants.

Review 20:The only problem we had on this visit is although there is free WIFI we could not get a connection in our room but as we live in Sapin and know the issues just guessed that the signal was not strong enough.

Review 21:We stay at this Hostel each time we visit Gibraltar which is at least 3 times a year and it provides just what we need. Clean rooms, welcoming staff and good location (always a parking problem but this is not the fault of the hostel).

Review 22:The location was fantastic for us - within walking distance to Gibraltar. The staff very friendly and the complete experience in the hotel, very nice. We recomend it.

Review 23:Uncomfortable beds as two single beds were pushed together to make a double... Which was uncomfortable.

Review 24:Very helpful staff, nice size room and bathroom, air conditioning very nice, great room view, easy laid back accommodation.

Review 25:Very friendly and helpful staff. No meals supplied but plenty of restaurants, bars, take-aways and shops a short walk away. Pleasant facilities for eating your own food in courtyard. Good base for visiting Gibraltar - 15 minute walk to border or around €4 taxi ride.

Review 26:Limited Parking

Review 27:Staff couldn't be more helpful, especially Martin and Hector. Cleaners efficient, room tidy with bare necessaties but large shower. Hot water as required if listen to staff and let run for about 2 minutes. Close to centre of La Linea and boat yard where I was working. Car parking only for 4 cars outside but I also found a parking space nearby. Usually stay at Asur Hotel but they had no vacancies. Will stay here from now on in relation to price and just wanting a good bed and bathroom for the night.

Review 28:The Bed was a little thin and uncomfortable.

Review 29:Excellent for walking from Hotel to Gibraltar and access to restaurants in Centro La Linea. Also the room is fairly spacious particularly when considering the cost.

Review 30:I didn't have any bad experience, there was nothing that I didn't like.

Review 31:The staff were very helpful, especially Martin. It's ideal for a visit to Gibraltar only a 10 minute walk to the border. I had a problem with the Internet, so they moved me to another room where I found excellent wifi. The room had a balcony with a view of daily life passing by. The room was basic but clean and tidy, when you pay £28 per day what more would you expect. They change the sheets and clean the rooms every day, more than what they do in some 4 star hotels.

Review 32:Just not what I am used to staying in, but will stay again and have already booked.

Review 33:Closeness to bars, restaurants and marina boatyard. Clean with large en-suite shower and toilet. Friendly staff. Hot shower.

Review 34:Some of the rooms overlook inner courtyard which does make them nice and quiet but can be little dark in the room.

Review 35:The staff are always really friendly and welcoming. Rooms are basic but comfortable with air con which also heats. Its perfect for getting to border but also for going out in la linea to many cafes and restaurants.

Review 36:Not perfectly clean. One of the trashes was filled with garbage when we came.

Review 37:Very close to the border (15 min. by foot). Nice balcony for breakfast and some beer or wine with a fantastic view of the Gibraltar Rock.

Review 38:There were only four parking spots and none was available when we arrived and all local parking was taken. Fortunately someone moved while we were checking in so it was ok.

Review 39:Inexpensive and reasonably close walking distance to Gibraltar.

Review 40:The bed was two twin beds pushed together. My side had plastic underneath the sheet. That bothered me. Speaking of sheets, that's all that was on the bed for the most part so I was cold at night. There were a couple of blankets inside the closet that we needed to pull out. But it was still cold and uncomfortable. I wouldn't say this is the cleanest place I've ever stayed. The WiFi didn't really work in our room so we had to sit in the hallway to book our next hotel.

Review 41:We only stayed here for one night. It wasn't expensive. It was just a stop over. The pastry shop next door was awesome. Great coffee and pastries and nice staff.

Review 42:Not quite up to the Spainish standards of cleanliness we have seen in our 5 weeks. Still good none the less.

Review 43:Within walking distance of everything, including to walk across to Gibraltar.

Review 44:Water is on solar ( I think) so on the second day there was no hot water as it was really cloudy. Beds small & not too comfortable

Review 45:Nice staff & if a 10 min walk to the boarder is not a problem, then its in an excellent position.

Review 46:Nothing.

Review 47:Car parking right outside my balcony. Friendly and helpful greeting recommending local places to eat plus map. Altogher convenient, comfortable, and much cheaper than it would be staying the night in next door Gibraltar (which can be seen from the balcony). I would return.

Review 48:Missing light bulbs. No snacks in vending machine.

Review 49:Location only, except for a super restaurant several doors down. Good parking off season directly in front.

Review 50:So close to everything .didnt need to use the car at any time.this is my second stay here.hope to revisit next year.close to all shops, bars, markets etc.

Review 51:Only 4 parking spots although on street parking was available in the evening.

Review 52:The staff were very friendly, recommended some great restaurants. It's only a 15 minute walk to Gibraltar. It's right in the center of La Linea so you can walk to everything.

Review 53:Street parking really difficult to find (only 4 spaces for hotel guests). Flooring looked grubby and when I dropped my earring and looked under the bed for it - I found the dust of many many days.

Review 54:Location really central. Chap on reception really pleasant and extra helpful. Only 8 mins walk from the border with Gibraltar.

Review 55:The hotel was in a good location to visit Gibralter staff although didn't speak much English were very helpful and friendly we had a room on the front with a balcony. Plenty of bars around the Hostal for food and drink.snack machines in the hotel as well good value for money

Review 56:Very noisy from traffic, aircon did not work, so hot & noisy to try & sleep also mozzies in room. Very limited parking.

Review 57:Very good location, helpful & good staff.

Review 58:The area is noisy at night time, especially on a Friday night, making it difficult to sleep.

Review 59:This hostal is a short walk from Gibraltar and has a small car park at the front. There is a café nearby and plenty of local restaurants which makes up for the rooms having no cooking facilities. The staff on reception spoke English and were very friendly. It is ideal for a visit to Gibraltar.

Review 60:Could use some paint and care

Review 61:Very good staff. Very nice. Good value for the money. A little tired and could use some paint and TLC. Was a cheaper alternative than hotels in Gibraltar and an easy about 2 km walk to Gibraltar. Was located about a block or two from good real Spanish restaurants. Free parking for clients.

Review 62:On a main road with a fair amount of noise, despite being double glazed. Very noisy inconsiderate other guests, wham banging doors late at night, for us English tourists!!! No TV remote in the room although not a bother to us for one night. Air conditioning worked but if left on for half an hour or so started dripping water/condensate considerably and had to be switched off for a while and re started!!

Review 63:Ideal position, with good standard of room furnishing and facilities. Very Clean.

Review 64:Although the hotel offers free parking, the number of parking places are not enough. Eventually we could park our car in the surrounding area for free. No fridge in the room.

Review 65:Great location, close to Gibraltar, the walk to the border takes 15 minutes. We had clean, modern room with correct wifi.

Review 66:Street right outside our ground floor room was a bit noisy but for a crash pad after a party night the place was perfect....

Review 67:Excellent wheelchair facilities in the bathroom. The guy at reception didn't mind being woken up to open the front door at 2.30 am !

Review 68:Room smelt old and musty. Bedspread had holes and cigarette burns. Non smoking establishment...Parking a nightmare. We were lucky to come across a "private" car park, i.e. a piece of waste ground some enterprising souls were " letting out" and good value at 8 euros for a day.

Review 69:The only good thing about it is that you are a 10 min walk from the Gibraltar border.

Review 70:Coffee vending machine, dear for the amount of coffee you get.

Review 71:Went out to surprise a friend in Gibraltar. Hostal was cheap, friendly, clean and a short walk to the border. Ideal if you just want a base to come back to and get your head down at night. Bedroom was at the front, and there is a lot of street noise, but I sleep through anything.

Review 72:Lovely Hostal. Spacious room with very comfortable beds and plenty ofwardrobe space.A Large bathroom with double sink and shower. Roomscleaned and tidied on a daily basis by friendly and efficientstaff.Front desk always manned by cheerful and helpful staff. Top valuefor money would recommend this Hostal 100%.Will definately return thenext time we are La Linea

Review 73:There is no breakfast. However it is possible to get a basic breakfastfor 2.20 euros down the road at the panaderia. Ask at reception.

Review 74:The hotel is basic but everything is done to a high standard. Goodrooms, beds, aircon ect. Its quite close to the boarder, easy walkingdistance. I would recommend a nearby bar restaurant called Don Carlos.Great tapas and a menu of the day. Great prices and good quality food.Far cheaper than Gibraltar.

Review 75:Cleaness of foor does not good which was many dust on the floor. And there was no refrigerator so if you buy some fresh food in Giblartar, there not possible to keep in cool.

Review 76:Cheap cost and nice location which you can visit to Gibraltar by the walk and Tapas street in the town only 2 minutes. Also mostly my favorite point is pet allowed !!

Review 77:WiFi (which was free and worked well in the public area) did not work in our room.

Review 78:Once the shutters were closed it was quiet and dark - great for catching up on sleep.
