Reviews for Chambres Chez Mounie

Review 1:Bed was a bit short, so if you slid downward at all, your feet hung off the end (I am 5'10" tall). Room is very quiet at night but traffic noise picks up about 10h.

Review 2:The owners are an extremely sweet, older couple and treated us like family! They couldn't have been nicer. Our room was a bit small, but had our own entrance to the exterior which was very personable. Continental breakfast was fresh and perfect!

Review 3:Great location in this lovely town. Charming owner who spoke English! Use of owners kitchen if needed but great restaurants on doorstep for dinner and breakfast. Good base for a stopover with our young children and would highly recommend. Many thanks

Review 4:The only problem was the room smelled like smoke and that was a bit distracting. As non-smokers we were a bit put off that even some of our clothes smelled the next day. The room was clean otherwise, but the heavy smell of smoke was not nice. It even make the bed feel dirty as the comforter smelled like smoke.

Review 5:Very nice old house in the heart of Normandy. A very short walk to the heart of shops and museums and a great place to stay.

Review 6:Firstly, we arrived on our motorbike and proprietor said we could park it up a shared drive behind the property, that his neighbour was English and doesn't mind, which I did, making sure it was tucked in so it didn't block anybody. When I went to the bike later a guy was in the alley, I said 'Bonjour' and he launched into a tirade in french about how he was going to call the Gendarmes because it was illegal etc etc, I tried explaining the proprietor had told me to park there but he wouldn't listen, he just pointed to a note written in perfect English saying the same thing as the French guy (I guess from the 'nice' English neighbour. It was very embarrassing. Secondly, our check out was 12:00 so we went out in the morning, returned at 11:00 to find some money left on the table had been taken. I spoke to the proprietors wife and she said that he had been in and taken it, We thought this was unacceptable behaviour.

Review 7:Pretty house in a good location.

Review 8:Unfortunately there was no door on the bathroom which caused slight distress. Parking was quite an issue also.

Review 9:Very close to sea front and also close to resteraunts

Review 10:A warning about parking would be helpful, took time to find somewhere.

Review 11:Comfortable, quiet, and authentic French. Room was fine, but not smart. French country, not the Hilton> Breakfast simple but filling

Review 12:Parking on the street was free but limited.

Review 13:Arromanches in August gets booked fast. We were glad to get this place at the last minute. It is an old French house so it may not suit the clean cut button down types.

Review 14:One morning our schedule required that we leave before the normal time for serving breakfast. The owner prepared breakfast an hour early for us! He was a delightful man. We loved the charm of the very old building in which the hotel is located.

Review 15:the room was really tired....needs new bed spreas and decor!! this might get rid of the moldy smell that was very intrucive.

Review 16:The location was very handy and quite accessible to the town by walking. very good!!

Review 17:There was no kettle in the room to make a hot drink, and noise from the guests above caused by the wooden flooring. The bed is a standard double and made up with sheets and blankets, whereas we would prefer a larger bed and a duvet.

Review 18:The location is good and our room had direct access to the street allowing us to come and go very easily.

Review 19:Be prepared for parking problems. The WIFI was spotty at best. Check wih the owner for better reception.

Review 20:This is an old house built in 1870. It has loAds of character. The owners were very nice. They invited us to sit in their garden.

Review 21:They need to make tea and coffee with hot water, other than that it was good for 4 lads visiting the D day beaches.

Review 22:Traditional French hotel very basic but very clean with clean towels every day and room cleaned. The owner was very friendly and it was a good place to use as a base to explore this area at a good price.

Review 23:No shower (just a tap extension). Breakfast was very poor at 6.50 euro. Beds had sheets & blankets rather than duvets, which were too hot and restrictive.

Review 24:Location

Review 25:not clean smelly (cats and dog and smell of cigarettes) 6€ extra for a breakfast that was just ok Unfortunately the location and the nice hosts don't make up the cost and most importantly if they had indicated the presence of animals and the smoke friendly staff I would have never booked (I was traveling with my 12 years old niece).

Review 26:great location near the artificial harbor in the beach of Arromanches. Friendly hosts.

Review 27:Pefect place with nice people!

Review 28:I've been to Arromanches for a number of years, without doubt this was a fantastic location, would deffinetly reccommend!!!

Review 29:The bed was very uncomfortable, the wifi wasn't very good and it would benefit from a power shower.

Review 30:Very friendly owner and great location.

Review 31:The bedsize, the dust and cats.

Review 32:Friendly owner couple, nice decorated old home in the middle of all D-day beaches.

Review 33:Close to the bay and a great location. Staff is friendly.

Review 34:The location for D-Day activities is great. The owner was very friendly. Family friendly to include a pet.

Review 35:Nothing except it can be noisy

Review 36:Owners were very helpful

Review 37:Excellent location about 2 blocks from the Musee du Debarquement. Very friendly house keeper. Clean attic room. Nice continental breakfast

Review 38:Our room had its private entrance from the street. The owner was really friendly.

Review 39:Mr. Mounie is very accommodating.

Review 40:We absolutely love the old rustic feel of the home and the artwork throughout the house. We even purchased a couple paintings from the owner!

Review 41:location and facilities

Review 42:lack of parking on hotel site.

Review 43:Old style guest house atmosphere

Review 44:Breakfast a little expensive for what you get

Review 45:Delightful and characterful house and rooms, helpful owner

Review 46:Very old fashioned but typically French!

Review 47:smelt of cigarette's

Review 48:big bathroom comfortable beds good location

Review 49:No issues

Review 50:The hosts were very nice Mr Mounie is a very friendly and polite man and his wife as well. They even drove us to the traib station when we missed our bus. Very nice traditional housr.nothing to complain about!

Review 51:Nothing - it was all fine.

Review 52:Great location. Mr Mounie was very pleasant. It is a lovely traditionalFrench b & B. comfortable bed and just a short stroll into town.

Review 53:It seemed unlikely that decaffeinated coffee would be available, so we didn't ask. The host was a smoker (although the confirmation had noted this).

Review 54:The charming and cultured host who spoke excellent English and was happy to be engaged in conversation. Charming rooms. Hot drinks and orange juice were offered in the kitchen at all times. Beautiful flowers in the garden

Review 55:Parking could be a problem but not for us at the time.

Review 56:Externally the hotel is typically traditional old-worldly French and Ifell in love with it immediately. The polite and entertaining ownergreeted us and led us to the down stairs bedroom - a must to stay in forany of you dreamy romantics. Piano playing sometimes echoed in thebackground and lovely family painted paintings littered the walls.

Review 57:Décor very dated. Creaky floorboards. No shower curtain. There were 6 of us and only 1 couch to sit on. Too much bending down with all the slopes of the ceiling.

Review 58:Staff very friendly.

Review 59:The main part of the house (not the bedroom) smells of cigarette smoke. Not a big problem for us, but may bother some people. That it is asmoking house is spelt out in the advert for it, so we had been warned.Bedroom a bit cramped, but perfectly adequate for what we needed.

Review 60:Very convenient. Owner friendly & helpful. Very traditionallyFrench, but speaks good English.Good location for D-Day sites.

Review 61:The owner, although very pleasant and friendly was a heavy smoker, andthe smell was very strong throughout the house. Rooms need a bit of tlcand updating.

Review 62:Location was really good, only a 2 min walk from the beach,restaurants/bars etc. Very French.

Review 63:We rent the "3 bedroom", but it was really 2 bedrooms and an extra bed in the living room. The apartment was in the attic and the ceilings angles made the walking around space limited. However, the most unfortunate part was that we didn't know it was a smoking facility. With 2 small children one asthmatic, this became a big problem.

Review 64:The owner was very friendly and helpful. Location was very convenient to beach and attractions.

Review 65:Squeaky floors on second floor.

Review 66:Very clean, friendly owners, good location, quiet at night, breakfasttypical of French B&B. Lovely outside garden area to relax in! Wishthe weather had been warmer!

Review 67:There's no place for a cat walking along the work surface in the kitchen where our breakfast was prepared & served to us.

Review 68:Friendly & welcoming host who spoke very good english. He offered us the opportunity to store chilled foods & drinks in the fridge. He also offered us the use of the kitchen to make drinks.

Review 69:Wish there was a shower instead of a tub with hand held nozzle.

Review 70:Great location, comfortable, and friendly owner.

Review 71:basic
