Reviews for Hôtel Saint Antoine
Review 1:Very accommodating with our late arrival. The bed was a good combo of comfy and firm so you don't get bounched of the bed when the person next to you moves in their sleep.
Review 2:Wifi slow.
Review 3:a decent hotel not far away from Angouleme city centre. Breakfast OK. Family room excellent size for 5 people. relatively calm area with some passing traffic.
Review 4:Able to park directly outside the hotel. The town is very old with narrow streets. Parking is a lot harder nearer the centre of the town and this is within walking distance (though uphill).
Review 5:Could do with more storage space in rooms. Finding somewhere to eat in the evening could be an issue.
Review 6:The hotel is well located, rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good with a reasonable variety. Staff are very heplful and friendly. Would use again.
Review 7:Nothing bad, but the parking is shared and during the day is full. Better to park after 18.00.
Review 8:All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotless and the breakfast area was continually cleaned and food topped up. Good variety of choice also. The rooms had nice bed linen and were spacious. 15 minute walk along the riverside to the centre. Thoroughly recommended!
Review 9:Excellently placed to walk along the river and into Angouleme. Easy parking in car park opposite. Friendly, efficient and informative reception staff. Big room, stylish and spotlessly clean. Will stay there again.
Review 10:We were looking for Hotel Balladins but it is actually called Hôtel Saint Antoine, so it took a while to find. Very small car park at rear but there's a big public car park but the river directly opposite. No towels in the room and although we asked for some they never arrived, so had call someone out when we got back from dinner at 11pm. Reception is closed at night, so if you arrive late you will have to make arrangements to get the code and your room key. Breakfast was very basic.
Review 11:Very clean hotel that appeared recently refurbished. Quite Spartan but good value for money. Nowhere nearby to have dinner, so we walked along the river and up a very very steep hill into the old town which is beautiful. Remember the way back because the streets in the old town are very disorientating. Would stay there again.
Review 12:There were no facilities to have a drink after a long drive. There was a beautiful garden but no opportunity to sit there and have a relaxing drink which was a shame. The area was run down and there was nowhere nearby to eat.
Review 13:The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice and clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and the breakfast room was decorated beautifully. Next to it was an excellent garden with chairs.
Review 14:not applicable
Review 15:An excellent place to stay in Angouleme. The previous week we had stayed at another hotel near the railway station at a comparable price and were very disappointed. This hotel was a wonderful surprise. Highly recommended.
Review 16:Hotel under construction. Nobody on reception but luckily a guest let us in then called the hotel from the lobby to check us in. The guest was incredibly helpful.
Review 17:Comfortable room
Review 18:The location was not very good and there is no restaurant at this hotel. Lots of road noise.
Review 19:Breakfast at the Hotel was excellent and the room was clean.
Review 20:The whole hotel shone, is in a great place on the river. much better than staying in the town, there is a bus stop nearby if you don't fancy the walk, but most of it was along the river, before going up the hill. The décor of the whole hotel is great and included some quirky bits, the garden was very pretty and a great place to relax. Our room was pristine, the hotel is family owned and they take great pride in it, hence they were only too pleased to help and to provide a very happy stay. Along the river is a pizza restaurant (a boat), which was very good, also there is a creperie nearby on the grass. We plan to return to this hotel in the future because it was so good
Review 21:Nothing.
Review 22:We loved everything please do not be put off where you are the walk into the city centre was a good one up a hill and steps but then you are in the heart of the city or you could drive it in 5 mins drive. We enjoyed the helpful staff and the good service . The views from our window was nice and over the river and we saw some memorable sunsets. Beautiful.
Review 23:No refreshments within the room (Tea/ Coffee making facilities)
Review 24:Central Location on outskits of city. Not to Noisy close to river with ample parking close by.
Review 25:Maybe a clearer policy on breakfast as although we were told we could decide in the morning we felt like we had upset them when we turned up
Review 26:We really liked our room and the gentleman at check-in was fantastic and dealt with a booking error sensitively. The hotel is not right in the centre but it is not far and close to a lovely river walk
Review 27:Car parking not secure and very dark, a short walk from hotel, would not park our car there, but there was another public car park across the road that was well lit and could be seen from the hotel.
Review 28:Clean, staff very helpful and friendly.
Review 29:No bar or restaurant. The bar next door was a locals joint and we were not made very welcome even though we only went in to get a drink and took it outside. Also they seemed to thin that the car park was theirs and we were subject to a bit of abuse for parking outside the Hotel we had paid to stay at. 1 week-end and the average price of our cars was approx £45,000 so what do they expect
Review 30:Although a good walk into the centre this hotel is perfect for our needs. As we used it for a specific reason cannot expect others to agree with us. Having a bath was a real plus
Review 31:Liked it all
Review 32:the hotel has to be the cleanest I have stayed in, particularly the breakfast area. It shone. All glasses, cutlery, plates and serving areas were super clean. Staff were helpful and friendly. Couldn't fault it.
Review 33:The location: The details on the website indicate that it's very close to the centre of Angouleme but it didn't feel like that at all. We got their fairly late in the day and our options were pretty limited to get a family meal nearby (the staff did phone around for us though) The outside of the hotel: when we pulled up I nearly decided to find a room somewhere else but luckily we gave it a go and had a really nice stay.
Review 34:Great staff, they were very helpful and attentive. Great family rooms. We have three kids and two were in their own room with an adjoining door. This worked very well. Very nice breakfast. A few decent places to get a family meal a couple of KMs away
Review 35:No secure parking, rooms need updating, very noisy plumbing system. Thephotograph is a bit misleading.
Review 36:Friendly and helpful staff. Good free wifi.
Review 37:Parking difficult & poor - literature states 'free private parking on site - reservation not needed'. It's actually not private, but open to the road and un-monitored, poorly lit and not at all marked as associated with the hotel. And on returning from dinner (which we had to drive to) there were no spaces at all. Had to park on a narrow residential street 5 mins walk away. Other guests parking later blocked all cars in, so a good job we didn't want to leave early! Room had no shower (bath only) and was a bit spartan. The bathroom was rather dated in appearance and shows evidence of many changes which not been that well carried out. The lack of evening dining and very few restaurants nearby (closest is a few minutes drive over a viaduct with poor pedestrian path) means you need to plan to eat in advance!
Review 38:Breakfast fairly good(although bread not as fresh as we'd expect in France), and the terrace delightful on a sunny morning. The room was reasonably spacious. Staff were able to direct us to the nearest restaurant.
Review 39:This was a last minute booking and arrived at the hotel within about two hours to the reception who greeted us and within minutes we had the keys to our room. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The room was very large, clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was very nice and plenty of it. Overall I would come back here again.
Review 40:Location meant a long walk up to the old city and the museum of Bande Desinnée every day. It would have been OK with a car. Also, inconvenient when arriving because it wasn't open until 4 p.m. I thought I could arrive earlier and leave my suitcases until the room was ready, but I couldn't get into the building
Review 41:Good size room, clean and very good night sleep because of no traffic. Breakfast was excellent. Staff were friendly.
Review 42:arrived at 1pm but had to hang around till 4pm when reception opened again. An uphill walk to town, okay coming home though
Review 43:Very helpful staff, handy to have laundromat not far down road. lots of restaurants on 2 or 3 streets in town, we went to first one we came to and later discovered lots more around the corner
Review 44:Windows need locks
Review 45:Fab rooms for a family of five three beds in one with own toilets and bathroom ,double bed in other room with toilet and bathroom with a main door and seperate doors and corridor to rooms all contained beautifully clean and fresh ,breakfast typically continental nice dinning room the receptionist was helpfull and spoke great English easy access to the n10 great stay will use again
Review 46:With windows open there was a fair amount of traffic noise- but there again we had the convenience of being next to a major road.
Review 47:The room was fine and the staff were very helpful. It is close to the river and not far from the Old Town (less than one mile). It was hot and muggy so sleep was a bit difficult. Good value.
Review 48:We were charged 7.50 for our dog.
Review 49:The hotel is right on a river which was lovely for walking the dog and a short walk from the historical part of town. The room was nice and large and so was the bathroom which had a bath as well as a shower. The reception staff were excellent, spoke good english and were very helpful. We were able to park in the hotels car park which was good.
Review 50:Had to sit in shower, but that's ok if you don't mind; bit of a drive to decent restaurants and bars, but again ok if you don't mind driving.
Review 51:Excellent service, very clean and comfy, nicely positioned (but out of town centre) next to the river and bridge, good check-in/out times, FAB breakfast!
Review 52:Beds were very stiff not so comfortable We had two rooms connected, very handy but bit old fashioned Price-quality is right
Review 53:Friendly staff, speak excellent english
Review 54:Booked this hotel expecting parking. Had to park 500 meters away in a back street. Had to hold shower as no bracket fixed to wall. No restaurants nearby so drove to city center and spent an hour looking for a parking space.
Review 55:Very friendly and helpful staff
Review 56:It was great to have a proper bath.

Review 85:Spartan decor did not promote relaxation
Review 86:Location is great, near canal in town
Review 87:The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable
Review 88:l`emplacement
Review 89:The rooms are a bit noisy due to proximity of road
Review 90:Very convenient and easy to find. Nice river side location
Review 91:not enough towels
Review 92:The friendliness of this family run hotel and their willingness to offer things to help make our stay a pleasure.
Review 93:Misleading Description Lack of Choice or fresh hot drinks or dietary requests for breakfast Car parking

Review 111:A bar would have been nuce
Review 112:The hotel was close to the river with plenty of parking available
Review 113:Only one medium sized towel each. Not enough room to shut the separate toilet door. Lots of noise transmission including water/plumbing. Hotel is actually just off a busy roundabout, with a few tyre screeching episodes. There is public parking close by and the car was fine in the morning but this is a busy area and not confidence building.
Review 114:Warm welcome from reception and good English. Good sized room. Wind down window shutter/blind very effective.
Review 115:I asked for a non smoking room the room stank of tobacco..... no restaurant in the hotel or close by parking " on the premises" was a piece of open land across the road
Review 116:its a cheap location for a nights sleep when passing through
Review 117:A bit far for steep uphill walk to centre. Not much nearby in way ofeating establishments
Review 118:Friendliness of staff, decent choice and quantity at breakfast for aFrench Hotel, very good rooms, bar next door and handy for the main dualcarrigeway on Bordeaux to Poitier road.
Review 119:Shabby. Rooms partly refurbished . Reception staff very little english but helpful. No restaurants close by, uphill walk to town as was raining took car. Car Park no security but private.
Review 120:not a lot, it was cheap. Town great with good bars and restaurants, easy parking at night.
