Reviews for Conscious Hotel Museum Square
Review 1:I can not say anything negative about this hotel. It was an easy 15 minutes by tram to the centre of Amsterdam and 5 minute walk from Van Gogh Museum. Pretty area.
Review 2:Staff were especially wonderful and breakfast was very nice. I love what they were able to do to with the recycling bits gathered from our throw away culture. We had our own little garden with access from inside our room! Free wi-fi and we will definitely go back..The peple of Amsterdam were very polite and helpful with directions. Excellent impressions that will last a lifetime.
Review 3:Not an unpleasant stay but certainly not worth the price. Average hotel with resort prices (we went during school holidays). We got a dirty towel and a broken one. The hotel has no gym or other facilities, no fridge in the room, no slippers, no bathrobe, no amenities set (just soap)... No complementary water or whatever. There was so much space between the room door and the wall that light from the corridor was brightening the room during the night. The rooms were not ready when we arrived at 3 PM. We had to give back the keys every time we were going out. ... I travel quite a lot and I don't always stay at beautiful hotels, I also go to youth hostels, but this is the first time I spend so much for so little.
Review 4:Nice location though. Some of the staff are very nice. Well heated.
Review 5:The breakfast was terrible - virtually nothing left - no cheese, no orange juice, no butter, no salad. A sign said eggs but none there, no one to ask. Reception unhelpful. Eventually located the breakfast person who fried me an egg and brought some butter.
Review 6:Loved the concept, the comfortable room and bed, the decor, the location and helpful staff on the arrival day.
Review 7:Beds were WAY too soft. Some odd choices in design of bathroom - the soap was placed the furthest possible point from the sink, probably to facilitate more room for mirrors. The shower head kept pointing itself towards the wall, which made showering somewhat annoying.
Review 8:Location is great, the hotel itself is very pretty.
Review 9:Breakfast was meager, cold eggs, little variety. The morning clerk was more into laughing out loud with other members of staff than focussed on service and not very friendly. The Hotel was a bit noisy and rather expensive for what we received at 260 Euro's per night. We paid for our stay through bank wire almost 2 months before arriving at the location, which was not communicated properly with the staff upon arrival causing them to double charge us.Taxi ordered through hotel did not arrive at all, even though we had requested one 2 hours before having to leave the hotel in the evening and were confirmed. We, eventually after waiting an additional 30 minutes in which we were continuously assured the taxi would arrive within a few more minutes, got one on the street ourselves.
Review 10:Close to the city centre. Organic breakfast.
Review 11:Very clean, with excellent friendly staff. Provide bicycle hire. On bicycle, you are only 10 to 15 mins from the city centre .... And it is a brilliant way to see this city which is so bicycle friendly.
Review 12:No complementry services, water, tea, they dont even provide tissues except the toilet one, the brakfast is very limited comparing to your money value and expectations.
Review 13:Nothing
Review 14:The elevator felt like it took 100 years to get to floor 4 but that's okay
Review 15:The beds and pillows were pretty spot on, good bathroom and smoking garden too
Review 16:The breakfast was really good, and the dining area and the communal environment was really modern and relaxing, we could have stayed for days and days!
Review 17:The room was not vacuum cleaned and we got tooth paste on our wash dish.
Review 18:The breakfast room and lobby was shiny and they got plants in it. The breakfast was good.
Review 19:Also the bathroom in general was very clean the extractor was disgusting. The mould was growing out of it.
Review 20:Close to a tram station. Very comfortable bed. Nice and clean bathroom.
Review 21:There was no tissues or anything to clean. the light to read in bed was poor, place to lay things near your bed poor, during breadfast everything has finished, there was only one man to help and i costs a lot of time to eat, the price was too high for the comfort. I had choosen of the green mark, but duurzaamheid should also be comfortable
Review 22:the location, pepole at the desk
Review 23:The worst mattress ever. The eco-friendly mattress is too thin, soft, and bumpy. Better book room "cote jardin" to avoid traffic noise.
Review 24:Nice welcome The hotel agreed to change our side street for a side garden room.
Review 25:Found the bedding (duvet) too good. Overheated during the night. Unable to get a full night sleep One small item in the bathroom was absent. A toilet brush.
Review 26:The phylosophy that the business operates under
Review 27:The staff were so friendly and helpful. Really exceptional. We also liked the location very much. So easy from the airport and ideally stuated for the museums.Superb value for money. No complaints at all.
Review 28:Housekeeping is efficient and quick, but sometimes very late, noisy and dominant, though obviously well intended. The outdoor terrace seems in benign neglect and there is a school across which may at times be noisy.
Review 29:Very nice breakfast with freshly squeezed OJ ( do it yourself), eggs, cold cuts and cheeses, plenty ripe fruit and cereals. Cappucino from decent coffeemachine and good selection of teas available all day free of charge. Bus 197 offers direct and fast tranport to Schiphol airport. Very good restaurants nearby as well as Amsterdam's best musea and the Concertgebouw.
Review 30:Little bits of hair in the shower when we first arrived but that didn't really bother us and I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been bending down to the floor of the shower to put my toiletries down
Review 31:Liked the wall art and the friendliness of most of the staff we spoke to, the security of leaving keys at reception (although a little embarrassing coming back and asking for them after a night out) and the light hearted humoured way the Eco friendly nature was expressed
Review 32:Use of recycled materials, the living wall near reception, excellent location for the Rijksmuseum and Van Gough. It was in a quiet residential area convenient for buses/trams to and from the airport..
Review 33:I chose this hotel because it was close (walking distance) to the Rijks and Van Gogh museums. I was so pleased, the hotel is small but my room was spacious and comfortable. By design the hotel is eco friendly which works nicely. Breakfast is organic and delicious. They are committed to being kind to the environment and even arranged an electric taxi for my trip to the airport
Review 34:Ide struggle to find something bad about this hotel. Not one negitive comment.
Review 35:Nice room with space yummy breakfast and kind and helpful staff that made us feel really welcome and comfortable.
Review 36:The only thing that would of been nice is hot drink facility's in your room
Review 37:Location was in a nice area tram links where good hotel was clean with friendly staff good size room and bathroom
Review 38:Great staff, nice room, good breakfast with organic food, great placement of the hotel, close to Museums, Conserthouse and Vondelpark. Walking distance to everything. Lot of restaurants in the area. De Pijp is five minutes walk from the hotel.
Review 39:Room was clean, spacious and according to one of my friends the beds were so comfortable she had her best sleep in ages. Great location, walking distance to touristy spots like the I AMSTERDAM sign, Van Gogh Museum and to multiple tram stops for easy access into the city center, but more importantly: EXCELLENT staff! very friendly, nice, helpful and welcoming. One particular staff member, i believe her name is Yaeii, deserves a bonus and a raise. she made us feel right at home in Amsterdam & you can tell she takes pride in her work and loves what she does. The hotel and its staff definitely made our stay easy, fun and had us wishing we could stay longer!
Review 40:The mattress was way too soft for our taste.
Review 41:1) super welcoming and friendly staff 2) eco-friendly hotel 3) generous size room and bathroom for an Amsterdam hotel 4) quiet room(no disturbance from the road or other guests) 5) nicely decorated (funny messages on the bedroom doors) 6) delicious breakfast
Review 42:Bland decor. Leaking shower cabinet.
Review 43:Spacious room with large bathroom. Great view over typical Amsterdam street. Handy for trams, museums, concert hall and Schipol bus. Helpful staff.
Review 44:I like the eco-friendly philosophy of the hotel. It was very clean and welcoming. Location was a little quieter than in some areas which was nice. It is near an upscale theater and has good restaurants within easy walking distance. I only stayed here one night because I had an apartment booked. If I had known how nice it was, I would have skipped the apartment stay, Nice little patio too.
Review 45:We were just in Amsterdam overnight to wait for our next flight the next day. We didn't want to take a hotel in the airport, so we looked for a hotel in the City that was accessible to the airport via public transport. We were able to see many places in Amsterdam in the few hours we were there, enough to want to return for a longer period in the future.
Review 46:Be forewarned that there is a preschool or kindergarten or school of some sort next door. Kids will be screaming outside your windows at 8am.
Review 47:Everything, I'd stay there again
Review 48:Leaving! ;)
Review 49:Love the location, close to museums, the peace of the courtyard, the fresh fruits at breakfast with a very sympathetic and helpful Alvin.A special mention to friendly and witty Yaeii. Loved Amsterdam, w'll be back.
Review 50:Toilets are not very clean & with the price I paid I was expecting at least a boiler in the room to make coffee.
Review 51:Location is perfect Housekeeping is good
Review 52:Amazing hotel nice neat and very clean. Gave us great service . The room was big with a big shower. And above all the location was perfect. I recommend this hotel. U must book it.
Review 53:Excellent hotel, near the centre, perfect for transport links. There's a hotel bus right outside the hotel! Perfect for getting around, supermarket nearby, clean, helpful staff, maps, toothbrushes ect! Also breakfast available each morning. Had a perfect stay would recommend.
Review 54:It would be nice to have tea/coffee facilities in the room. Directions on website would be beneficial as there is a direct bus route which would have been quicker and cheaper to get to.
Review 55:Good location. Lovely staff.
Review 56:They didn't have a bath mat towel, so we had to use hand towels on the floor to dry it off after showering. No kleenex or facial tissues in bathroom. No garbage can by the desk table - only in bathroom. Needed more pillows.
Review 57:it was a great location, rooms very spacious for european standards, AMAZING soft beds. Bike rental was awesome
Review 58:The breakfast was expensive No in-room mini-bar/tea coffee making Doesn't take cash Hotel took a holding deposit day before I arrived without telling me!
Review 59:the hotel was in a great location
Review 60:Upon booking this room: I paid for a double room and not a twin room. When I arrived, I was given a Twin room. I approached the reception desk and expressed my issue to the receptionist. I received a very practiced speech: The room you book on the website is just a preference to the room you want but this is not guaranteed. This was not stated upon booking as I travel all the time for business. There was a choice to book a double room at one price or a twin room at a different price. This explanation was ridiculous; booker's please beware.
Review 61:Slightly far from the centre for exploring night life - too far to walk back, and trams etc stop running shortly after midnight, so taxis are essential.
Review 62:Lovely friendly and helpful staff Very good location for museums and trams Wonderfully comfortable mattresses Nice large rooms (booked a triple)
Review 63:Should sell a bit more food during the day or have supper options.
Review 64:We had a wonderful time. It was exactly how it was in the photo. The staff very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was great and great value for money. Will definitely stay there again.
Review 65:I loved the European feeling of the hotel interior, windows, rugs, lamps etc. The man behind the desk perfectly suited the hotel and was very pleasant.Nice breakfast. Street location wasn't great but we were only passing thru so it didn't matter.
Review 66:- Staff super nice, helpful & informative - Love the "green" features of the hotel - Quiet (court yard facing room) - Right off bus 197 from the airport - 30 mins door to door
Review 67:No coffee making facilities or fridge. Limited drinks to buy at reception (only alcohol was beer).
Review 68:Great location for museums. Bit of a walk for tram but the nearest stop was only round the corner. Massive beds which were very comfortable. Very spacious room.
Review 69:The tram from the street was a bit noisy but it didnt prevent me from sleeping well windows closed. I believe that in the summer you'd better get the garden view.
Review 70:Large room, nice bathroom, large windows to the street.
Review 71:Nothing really bad; food sold downstairs is too expensive. But a supermarket is across the street.
Review 72:Spacious room, located next to American embassy, museum area, concertgebouw, nice restaurants and shopping. Friendly staff, very accommodating with a crib for our 2 mo. Good value esp for A'dam. Highly recommended.
Review 73:This was very conveniently located near the Van Gogh museum and near a bus stop. We took a bus to and from the airport no problem. Also, the staff was friendly and you can rent bicycles right from the hotel. Room was clean and comfortable.
Review 74:The staff were wonderful, helpful, friendly and professional. The hotel was in a perfect location, really close to the Museums, concert hall and shops. Good breakfast.
Review 75:There were small specks of what seemed blood in the bath, the pillows and mattresses did not have pillows or mattresses protectors and the pillows were either too soft or too firm.
Review 76:The location of the hotel.
Review 77:Comfortable beds, welcoming staff and a great location. The museums were very close as well as a grocery store. Had a really good atmosphere and a cute back garden. All for a great price.
Review 78:room very close to reception and not properly sound proof so lot of disturbance
Review 79:Very spacious room comfortable large bed good location though slightly away from city center
Review 80:Parking was expensive, EU36 per day or EU4 per hour. Staff directed us to the stadium and said that is free of charge. We drove around, very difficult to do because of constant bicycle, trams and buses going by, and when we eventually got there, the price was just the same as the small park adjacent to the hotel front. This was not a great start since we were tired from driving all day. We found the staff to be vague when giving information. There was no fridge in the room, so we had to ask the receptionist to store a bottle of milk in the restaurant kitchen fridge.
Review 81:All was fine, nothing major to worry about, fairly central, quiet, comfortable.
Review 82:The rooms are almost too sterile. A little dash of color would warm things up a bit.
Review 83:Easy to get to from airport by bus. Short walk to shopping, cafes, etcetera.
Review 84:This pricey hotel has rooms with & without AC-- you might lose if you roll the dice! Without AC, room is not comfortable. Even in cold months, with window open the traffic is crazy noisy and sleep would be horrible.
Review 85:No private parking place. Hard to find public parking area nearby even if I was willing to pay 35 euros per 24 hours. I ended up using the Park & Ride at the Olympic Stadium, which was 2.4 km away from the hotel.
Review 86:The hotel has great accessibility to Museum Quarter. Unfortunately, that's all about its merit and worth.
Review 87:Very nice setting - leafy lobby, organic drinks bar and nice breakfast. Fantastic location with museums just close by, the beautiful parc. Close to the city centre and yet quiet for sleep. I loved the area. The cycle tour organized by the hotel was really enjoyable. Most of the personnel was fantastic - the cleaning lady was lovely and really helpful.
Review 88:The design of the hotel is unique and interesting. The rooms are fairly spacious and comfortable. The weekend outdoor market a block away was a great place to get some breakfast.
Review 89:For safety reasons this hotel does not accept cash payments for extra expenses incurred. I personally avoid using my credit card overseas where possible because of extra charges. Ultimately cash is legal tender and should not be refused.
Review 90:Proximity to Concert gebouw and museums.
Review 91:The only bad thing was the lady we had for checking out. She was grumpy and tried to charge us extra and when she was wrong she didn't apologise and was very condescending.
Review 92:As soon as we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff. When we went to our room we were surprised at how big the rooms were! The beds were so comfortable and it was the best value for money I've spent.
Review 93:breakfast could have been a little more extensive - if you're not down early, it's gone !
Review 94:amazing 3 day trip away with my partner thanks to hotel - grey value for money with the amazing central location, and the comfiest night sleep in a clean and fun decor room. would recommend to anyone!
Review 95:Great little hotel, perfect location, just 10 min walk from Museum area, and very close to a Vondelpark. Surprisingly quiet for Amsterdam, good night sleep. Facilities are nice, cool indoor garden for chilling out and very friendly staff.
Review 96:Our room was by the street and there was an ongoing construction, so it was a bit noisy early in the morning. The staff offered to transfer us to another room.
Review 97:Location is convenient, walking distance to popular musuems and tram stop is just across the street. Beautiful lobby with vertical garden motif is appropriate with their environment friendly standards. Staff accommodated our requests. Room is very spacious.
Review 98:Bed- very uncomfortable! Like sleeping in a hammock!
Review 99:Very helpful, attentive and welcoming staff Hotel ethos Room on ground floor- very spacious and great to have your own small outdoor space with table and chairs Location great! quiet area but so close to everything
Review 100:Hotel was central with excellent transport links. Trams stop right side hotel. Also the bus from the airport stops right outside hotel. Wifi was excellent and staff were very helpful.
Review 101:there's nothing I wouldn't like in this hotel
Review 102:staff really friendly and helpful, great value granted to the ecological issues, easy access to some touristic attractions (walking distance to Rijks & Van Gogh & Stedelijk museums), direct public transportation from/to the airport & the city centre (stops at no more than 50 m away)
Review 103:No air co so room was very hot & opening the windows was not practical as we were facing a busy street and hence very noisy. A little expensive at €150 per night but I guess you pay for high season in city centre. No parking something of a hassle if arriving by car; nearest Q Park is €50 per day and the suggested park & ride was completely full.
Review 104:Very centrally located hotel and good choice for breakfast if you arrive before 09:00 Reception staff are very friendly and helpful
Review 105:That I cannot even smoke on the balcony of the room and was reprimandedand warned for it the person at the reception. It is definitely not theway a customer should be treated, especially when there is no info thatyou cannot smoke in the balcony.
Review 106:For the type of breakfast that is served, feel that the charges areextremely high.
Review 107:Very good hotel, but a bit expensive :(
Review 108:Very big room, clean, very comfortable bed, nice staff, well located, bus to the airport just in front of the hotel!
Review 109:The hotel only uses credit cards, which felt a bit inconvenient when paying for one cup of coffee.
Review 110:My room was very spacious and had its own garden terrace. It was perfect for visiting the museums and the bus from the central station and to the airport stopped outside.
Review 111:Minor I know but poor directions to the airport bus was frustrating after such good service
Review 112:Really big room, friendly staff, excellent for public transport & museums
Review 113:Staff were quite rude. We put a do not disturb sign in the doors owe could lie in, only to be accused of smoking which we soon proved we did not do. I guess as a younger couple people just look down on you. The location is really quite far away from much. Leidseplein is 15 mins walk, amsterdam square 35/40.
Review 114:The room size was fantastic. And wifi speed very fast.
Review 115:There were constructions on the hotel's street, till 3 am. Ticket was not refundable, so no attempt to aid us was made. It would be nice if they would offer us breakfast as compensation, but they didn't.
Review 116:Comfortable room.
Review 117:There was some noisy Constrution in the streets when we were there.
Review 118:The location was perfect for us. Not in the busiest touristy part of town but easy access to anywhere in the city. Right across the street from the museums.
Review 119:No breakfast included in our deal and the price was really high. No mini bar in the room so we couldn't keep anything and no a/c.
Review 120:Location, room very comfortable
Review 121:Staff were very friendly and our room had a little outside area which was brilliant for the kids. Plus they went out of their way to get our room ready early as they could see we were all bombed after our long flight. The location was brilliant too for access to the museums (and public transport). We would definitely recommend it it.
Review 122:No minibar in the rooms.
Review 123:Very close to the Museum Square and Vondelpark. Dam square is 15 minutes by tram, and easy to access. Rooms are bigger than expected, and clean. Beds are comfortable.
13 euro per persoon vonden we veel. Aangezien er een Albert Heyn op 5 minuten wandelen is. Als ik daar voor 13 euro koffiekoeken,... ga halen heb ik goed gegeten.
Review 125:Propere kamer
Review 126:The punch card key system is a bit old-fashioned and not as safe as a chipcard. We also didn't care much for the low flow taps.
Review 127:The location is excellent, right around the corner of the Concertgebouw. The room was spacious even with a third bed in it. Also very quiet, sound proofing is superb (we were on the top floor, which seems to be a later addition to the structure). There is a very pleasant garden. Cleaning staff and breakfast staff were very nice, front desk staff could be friendlier.
