Reviews for La Fuente del Sol
Review 1:We were a bit disappointed with the breakfast.
Review 2:Beautiful location, hotel was authentically Spanish. Friendly staff. We were looking for somewhere remote up in the mountains and it was perfect.
Review 3:Bed was very hard and not that comfortable but we have been finding that everywhere in Spain so may be just the norm.
Review 4:Staff was lovely. Grounds were lovely. Food was good. Very rural so you gave to want that kind of place. But if that's what you're looking for, it's a great break.
Review 5:Extra bed for child was expensive at 30 euro per night (he is 3). Evening menu could do with a special each day.
Review 6:Peaceful, nice location high in hills, lovely (cold) pool although indoor is available at extra cost, room quiet, gardens, plenty of space to park. Local village about 1-2 km away.
Review 7:Not much else! Room was starkly furnished and basic. Bathroom very unattractive. A/C and fan because of the height of the room ineffective. Quality of food at dinner and breakfast was very poor. Double bed was twin beds pushed together. Floor tiles in the lift badly chipped. Very overpriced.
Review 8:Setting and surrounding countryside Two swimming pools
Review 9:Food is okay. We ate in 3 nights but the mains are not usually fresh as I discovered when ordering a tuna steak which having been frozen could not be cooked medium rare due to the defrosting time. Veal was perfect
Review 10:Rural Peace. Close to the 3 major natural attractions and loads of walks
Review 11:We felt that perhaps the cost of using the spa facilities should be included in the price of the room.
Review 12:Staff went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay, even keeping the restaurant open late for us after we got lost on the way from the airport .
Review 13:Paying 30 euro for my dog to cover cleaning costs, when there wasn't even a rug in the room to make dirty! I paid 100 euro for one night, had I paid 40 I would have said it was reasonable. The free toiletries were pathetic with only one tiny soap, towels were small, toilet paper not soft, I had to ask them to turn the water heating up and I had to make my own bed as the two blankets were in the cupboard and just sheets on the bed (it's February!)...nothing to make my stay feel special...and because i had a dog I couldn't use any of the hotel's facilities and even had to pay 5 euro extra to eat dinner in my room.
Review 14:the food was good...although not the breakfast
Review 15:The bedrooms need to have a couple of comfortable chairs to sit on and a mirror over the writing desk/dressing table.
Review 16:The solitude and the quiet atmosphere. The food was excellent and the staff were always more than helpful. The common area was very comfortable.
Review 17:I found rooms very dark. It was too far in the mountains. Got lost trying to find hotel as A343 and hotel was not signposted to turn right when leaving the town of Antiquera. It also took 45 mins to get from hotel to main road for Malaga. Did not think much of a la carte menu as this did not change
Review 18:I thought hotel looked very pretty would be very nice in summer
Review 19:Peace and quiet. Good for walking and relaxing. Restaurant food was great and for two nights with the same menu it was good, but not sure I could have stayed longer with same choice.
Review 20:Still a great hotel with incredible views to the coast(at least 20 Kms away)and so peaceful. The food in the restaurant is lovely and the whole experience tranquil and calm. The best place to relax!!!!
Review 21:Nothing to complain about
Review 22:Silence apart from the sound of goats bells, Out of the way but close enough to see wonderfull sights. Malaga lakes a must.
Review 23:A wonderful place to relax in. Their own restaurant is one of the best we have been in. Gorgeous courtyard with stunning views. Lots of delightful little touches to make you feel special. We'll definitely go back.
Review 24:Bed was somewhat small.
Review 25:Friendly and helpfull personel. Quality of food generally high.

Review 47:access
Review 48:setting, restaurant, grounds
Review 49:I asked for an upstair room and was given a ground floor and the hotel was very isolated.
Review 50:Beautiful hotel, good food.
Review 51:bathroom & furniture were aged
Review 52:pool location view food!
Review 53:Not comfy at all
Review 54:Absolutely superb in every respect apart from the flies which the hotel can't do much about! Staff incredibly helpful and friendly, we will definitely return.
Review 55:Tennis court was in a shocking state. We booked to play but stopped when the court was dirty, slippy, broken net etc
Review 56:Views, remoteness, tranquility, absolutely stunning. Beautiful character hotel-would go again.
Review 57:The spa cost 12 euros per person. The self serving 'advice' in their guest services book that recommended tipping.
Review 58:The location which gave panoramic views of the mountains. The pool which was beautifully set in the hillside. The quietness of the location with birds singing. Breakfast was good too.
Review 59:Having to pay to use the Spa, also Spa indoor pool cool.
Review 60:The Peace of the Hotel which was very well maintained. Very professional staff team. Excellent food, drinks very pricey for Spain.
Review 61:some of the staff is not so friendly. Booking of dinner table is necessary before 6pm. Poor breakfast, very limited choice of bread. Above average priced dinner.
Review 62:nice locations
Review 63:Restaurant not very helpful - eg, adults wanted to take our coffees and deserts to the bar lounge as children getting restless at the table but staff said no.
Review 64:Indoor pool, plenty of space outside, peaceful.
Review 65:lack of staff. The hotel needs some TLC. The so called Spa, no massage room, smoke filled pool area. Due to the tall chimney stack. No Turkish Bath!!! just a steam room and sauna which was not hot. Self service at breakfast as no staff. In the winter certainly they seem to run on a staff budget and room prices are quite high.
Review 66:The area was so beautiful and so much to see. Antequerra a wonderful white town, with many historical churches to view, for free. The Palace and Castle. The many small villages to wander around. La Torcal the mountain range, a unique area in Europe. The hills and valleys to drive around. Upgraded room to have a double jacuzzi bath, a log fire and excellent food.
Review 67:It was stunning. A beautiful converted cortijo in a fabulous setting. The whole place was just superb- the views, the rooms, the restaurant, the gorgeous wood fires in the lounge and restaurant and the staff. It was just a lovely experience from start to finish. We are already planning our next trip!!!
Review 68:No good lights in room. Restaurant could be cosier (but this is in most restaurants in Spain).
Review 69:When weather is good, this is a most pleasant location when you like fresh air, beautiful views, and a good restaurant. Beds were very good.
Review 70:Breakfast late from 08:30. Not a problem of the hotel but note it is a mountain region (hard to find, mountain roads with speed limit).
Review 71:Very friendly and very good breakfast buffet.
Review 72:Our room didn't have ceiling fan or AC so it was too warm sometimes. The stuff lent us a portable one though and everything was fine The access road could be in better condition
Review 73:Perfect environment to relax Excelent service
Review 74:Most of the rooms ie all apart from 13,14 & 5 missed the great views.. Sorry but the breakfast was rubbish where is the fresh orange juice - its spain?
Review 75:a most beautiful small hotel in an amazing location very peaceful with exceptionally good friendly staff. Dinner in the dining room was of a very high quality. we liked so much we returned within two weeks!! And we will go again hopefully.
Review 76:The signage was great coming from two directions, but finding La Joyafrom the west is very difficult.
Review 77:The staff was incredibly helpful - the best I've ever seen. Thefood, view, and facilities were all to die for.
Review 78:The breakfast was ok but the lunch & dinner we had was not so good and over priced. Also no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.
Review 79:The rooms, pool & patio
Review 80:We booked a junior suite with a terrace but there were so many flies we quickly had hundreds in our room. The receptionist brought a big bottle of fly spray but when we mentioned it on checking out she asked accusingly whether we had opened our windows? I don't expect to pay for a terrace I can't open the door to..
Review 81:Really quiet location and beautiful views across the valley and up the mountain. Great food and service in the restaurant. Swimming pool and bikes.
Review 82:Wonderful location. Fantastic views. Beautiful hotel and gardens. Quiet. Very large rooms. 1st class restaurant. Could have stayed for weeks. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 83:The rooms are tastefully decorated. Good restaurant. Nice swimming pool. People are very friendly and willing to help you with anything. Very nice quiet location.
Review 84:One comment. The spa (including indoor pool) was an additional 12 eurosper person per day basic plus additional costs for treatments which weconsidered excessive for hotel residents. We thought the the indoor poolwas advertised as part of the package and were not prepared for theadditional cost.
Review 85:The hotel was excellent. Friendly staff, good accommodation, goodbreakfast, good restaurant.
